Chapter 49: Begin! The Furinkan Sports Fest!
Saotome complex…
Currently, Ranma was out in the yard doing his katas. Despite the recent jump through dimensions and worlds and the harrowing adventures from them, the pigtailed youth continued to keep up his martial arts training. Still, things seemed pretty boring since they got back, not even the usual idiocy from Kuno was interesting as he's nothing more than a nuisance.
Once again, the delusional kendoist tried to lay claim on the Winx girls, which would be again met with painful rejection. One time at the front of the school, Kuno had tried to grope Layla from behind, but she quickly reacted by hitting him with a fist of morphix, sending him flying right for the school flagpole, crotch first. After that, he tried to grope Flora, who summoned a venus fly trap to swallow him whole and spit him out into the trash area.
"He never learns…" Ranma muttered as he then whipped out Sky and Brandon's swords before swinging them as part of his kata.
Opening (Azumanga Daioh style, 'Soramimi Cake')
Music starts at the beats, Bloom, Tecna, Layla, Musa, Flora, and Stella pop up, then the 'Ranma Club' logo zips in and bumps Stella away.

The Winx walk by with Neko-Shampoo and Kitsune-Ukyou walking alongside them. Kasumi is seen in her house dress. Suddenly, Stella appears behind her and strips them off. In a flash, Stella re-dresses Kasumi in her slacks and tied-up blouse ensemble. The Phantom Specialists emerge pumping their fists, then look down at Ranma who sighs.

Ranma sits on a hill with his back turned as he sees the Winx in Enchantix mode fly by, followed by Enchantix Nodoka, then finally Kamo-Mousse with Sasuke grasping his feet.

The Winx turn to present a cake, which they and the Saotome household dine on. Tofu pops up, then whacks out after seeing Kasumi while Sasuke looks on with nervousness. Zing comes in cosplaying as a certain orange cat and blasts off into the air.

Furinkan High…
Ranma sat in his homeroom class along with the Winx, Shampoo, and Ukyou. At the front, one Hinako Ninomiya was making an announcement. She was currently in her adult form, much to the male students' delight.
"Well class, this is it, tomorrow is the school sports festival. Let's all do our best and seize victory!"
"YEAH!"
It was kind of a new thing seeing Hinako in such a mood while in adult form. Ranma couldn't help but think back to how it happened two days ago.
Flashback…
Ranma and the Winx were running for the school gate. They had accidentally slept in and were now running late for school.
"Aw man, I can't believe this!" said Layla.
"I KNEW we shouldn't have stayed up late doing those online fighting games!" said Musa.
"Hey, they're quite fun, and I had to regain my ranking!" said Tecna.
"No point looking back on it now, we just gotta move!" said Bloom.
They managed to reach the front of the building, but a small shaded form jumps down.
"COME TO ME, MY FAERIE PRETTIES!"
Happosai had been lying in ambush to jump the Alfea students for some flash-step groping, but was once again denied the chance when he gets bounced back from Tecna's defensive barrier.
"Not you again, you old freak…" muttered Ranma. "Would you get lost? We're kind of running late here."
"I WILL GET MY LOVELIES AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME, PUNK!" shouted Happosai as he charged, only to get punted into LEO by Gold Helia.
The late bell then rung.
"Crap! That freak delayed us!" said Ranma.
"Ranma Saotome!"
Ranma and the Winx looked ahead to see a diminutive little girl looking no older than ten come out of the building. She had waist-length dark brown hair and wore a yellow dress.
"Hinako-sensei…?" said Ranma in surprise. He hadn't seen the ki-vampire in a while now, so her appearance caught him off guard. "When did you get back?"
"Just now, but that's not important! Why aren't you and the rest of these delinquents in class?"
"This little girl is a teacher…?" wondered Flora.
"A short teacher… just like Professor Wizgiz…" added Stella.
"Sorry, we were just getting to homeroom right now and-" Ranma started before getting cut off by Hinako.
"You are a delinquent, Ranma Saotome! And therefore, you shall be punished!" The child-adult takes out a yen coin and held it between her index and middle fingers. Since it was Ranma she was dealing with, she skipped the five yen version and went straight for the Fifty-Yen Satsu. "HAPPO GOJUEN SATSU!"
From the second floor windows, students looked on with interest. Akane could only smirk in spite when Hinako unleashed her technique on Ranma. 'I hope she drains those sluts next!'
Ranma stood firm, facing Hinako's technique. Seemed to be a good time to test if his new defensive spells will work. A green beam of light shone from the yen coin and hits Ranma, who glows briefly. To Hinako's surprise, she didn't feel like she drained any ki out of him.
"Wh-what?" said Hinako in confusion. It was impossible! How could she have not absorbed his ki?
"Ranma? What was that?" asked Bloom.
"It's a ki-draining move, taught to her by the old freak." Replied Ranma. 'Looks like my shield worked. My ki reserves had increased dramatically ever since Mom took me to Alfea, then from those world trips. I wonder…' "Fine. You want my battle aura? Here it is!"
Ranma blazed his battle aura. Hinako smirked and held out her yen coin. "HAPPO GOJUEN SATSU!" Unleashing her technique, Hinako smiled as she began to drain the ki. Before the Winx's eyes, they saw the little girl's body slowly grow and age to that of a buxom beauty in her twenties, her curves and breasts filling out the dress to the point it became skin-tight as it could barely contain her now larger form. The boys watching from the window got excited seeing Adult Hinako appear.
"Hmhmhm… you're a fool to release your ki blatantly to me, Ranma!" said Hinako.
"Is it just me, or does she sound a lot like that Frenzy woman in that form?" asked Musa to the others.
"You know, come to think of it…" started Tecna.
Hinako could feel her power growing, but her smile disappeared as she sensed something was wrong. For one thing, Ranma's battle aura wasn't decreasing, rather it was growing in size. Second was that the energy she was absorbing was too much and erratic. Her entire body began to tremble as every cell of her being was being jacked with raw magical energy.
"Wh-wh-what! ? N-no! S-st-stop!" Hinako screamed as she continued to absorb more energy than she could. However, she was unable to cut off the draining process as her fingers holding the yen coin were locked in place. Her legs shook wildly and felt they'd give way any moment.
"Hmmm? Is something wrong?" Ranma asked in a mocking tone.
The observing students watched in awe as Ranma's battle aura continued to grow. Hinako tried to will herself to stop her technique, but her body was unresponsive as it continued to try and drain Ranma's ki all at once. It was like trying to drink up an entire ocean. Before her eyes, she could almost swear she saw six humanoid shapes from within Ranma's battle aura.
Tecna analyzed the scene with her PDA and got troubling readings. "Girls, I think it might be best to take cover, ASAP!"
The other five Faeries nodded and dove for cover. The schoolyard was glowing with multi-faceted light, that onlookers had to squint to see what was going on.
"Stop… p-please… stop!" Hinako cried out in anguish as she was unable to stop her ki draining. Her limbs pulsated with power and were unresponsive as ki channeled through them.
"I guess that will do." Said Ranma as he recalled his battle aura. As he took a few steps forward, Silver Timmy pops out and simply flicks the yen coin out of Hinako's hand, abruptly stopping the drain.
Hinako suddenly found the strength to move and formed her fingers and thumbs into a triangle-shape before thrusting them forward.
"HAPPO TSURISEN GAESHI!"
Hinako discharged all her absorbed ki into one massive ki blast. The area was filled with blinding light as Ranma got hit with the ki blast. There was a tremendous flare of light as the nearby trees were knocked down, the windows rattled from the shockwave, and various things not nailed down were knocked over. The Alfea students were protected due to a barrier Tecna formed around herself and the others. Once the scene died down, what greeted everyone completely dumbfounded them.
Standing in a huge crater, a dusty Ranma stood slightly winded, but otherwise unharmed. He looked down at the child Hinako, who had reverted from unleashing her Happo No Yen Coin Return attack. She could only look at her student opponent with confusion.
"Are you done?" asked Ranma.
Hinako looked shocked at this outcome before a feeling of dizziness overtook her. Before pitching forward into blessed unconsciousness, she could have sworn she saw those same six shapes from before hovering behind Ranma's head. Her fainting form was quickly caught by Diamond Brandon.
"Ranma! Are you okay?" asked Layla.
"Yeah, more or less…" replied Ranma. "Damn… I didn't think I'd have so much trouble reabsorbing my own ki…"
"Whoa… you really did that?" asked Stella.
"Yeah. I kinda figured she had a limit to how much ki she could hold at a time. Ever since coming to Magix, my own ki reserves have spiked. I guess my newly discovered magical capabilities did all that. Afterwards, I used a power absorption spell to take it all back in, much like how you girls can absorb magic attacks of your own element."
"That does make a bit of sense…" said Flora.
"Now then…" Ranma goes to where Hinako was carried by Diamond Brandon.
"Ranma? What are you doing?" asked Musa.
"Er… look, don't think of this as anything perverted, okay? I just need to press her pressure points to temporarily seal off her ki draining."
"A pre-existing condition…?" wondered Tecna. "Hold on a minute." Tecna stopped Ranma then ran a scan on Hinako with her PDA. Getting the results, she calls over Bloom and Flora, where they have a huddled conversation. A minute later, they break.
"Ranma, that won't be necessary." Said Flora.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" asked Ranma.
"Don't worry about it. You and the others should just get to class, we'll catch up later once we take care of Ms. Hinako here. We'll explain everything to her so we won't get punished later for this." Said Bloom.
"But…"
"Just leave it to them, Ranma. They know what they're talking about." Said Layla.
"Alright then…"
Some time later in the nurse's office, Bloom, Flora, and Tecna look at the sleeping form of child Hinako. From Tecna's scan, they were surprised to find out that the girl before them was chronologically supposed to be in her early twenties, but retained the body of a ten year old despite that. Whenever Hinako used her ki drain technique, she would grow to her proper age. Unless she's not human, or underwent cryo sleep, or had a rare disease like hypoclasia which prevents normal aging, it made no sense. Scans showed she is indeed 100% human.
"Again, this is related to that ki Ranma and the others know so much about." Said Tecna. "It really is a fascinating energy."
"So she's trapped in a child's form… I kind of feel sorry for her…" said Flora.
"So you say there is something we can do for her, Tecna?" asked Bloom.
"There is." Replied Tecna. "From my scan, it has something to do with her metabolism. She uses up energy at a much faster rate than normal people do, which is coupled with an inherent weak constitution. Perhaps restoring her metabolism to normal rates will fix this. That's where you two come in."
"Us?"
"Yes. Bloom, your Dragon's Flame possesses healing and life qualities. Flora, you're much experienced with helping cure odd ailments, and certain plants do have medicinal properties."
The redhead and brunette nod in understanding. Bloom recalled how she used her powers to save a critically wounded Sky from death, and gave life to that magical golem she and the others created in that virtual chamber incident. Flora also recalled how she helped restore Cloudtower witch Mirta's human form when she was cruelly turned into a pumpkin by the Trix.
"Alright, let's do it." Said Flora.
Bloom and Flora go over to Hinako and placed their hands above her head where they did a convergence. The two Faeries focused their magical energies into their hands which glowed then enveloped the diminutive teacher's form. Hinako's body slowly began to age as if she had just drained some ki again. Once her body reached the proper age and build, the magic went to work to stabilize her metabolism and alter her constitution to that of a woman her age. The work done, the aura vanishes.
A moment later, Hinako moaned and opened her eyes, feeling oddly refreshed, as if she had absorbed the ki of numerous delinquents. However, she felt different somehow.
"Oh, she's awake." Said Bloom.
Hinako turned to see Bloom, Flora, and Tecna looking at her.
"Hello, Miss Hinako. I'm Flora Linphea. This is Bloom Domino and Tecna Zenith. We're exchange students who've enrolled here some time ago. It's nice to meet you."
An explanation later…
"Really? I'll never revert back to being a child again?" asked Hinako. She couldn't believe it.
"That's right. I noticed your… unique constitution when I did a medi-scan on you." Replied Tecna. "Bloom and Flora were able to fix the imbalance to your metabolism."
"I… I don't know what to say…" To Hinako, this was a new feeling for her. She would now be looked up to as an adult and those bratty kids won't ever call her Hina-chan sensei again. She could finally see other people, and maybe even fall in love? She looked to the Faeries, still in a bit of awe that they were actually beings of magic.
"Also hope you don't mind, but we also had to alter that ki-draining ability of yours in the process." Said Bloom.
"What? Why would you do that? How will I discipline the students if I can't-?"
Flora held up her hand. "Bloom said alter, not remove. You can still drain people's ki in self-defense or to 'discipline' as you call it, but you won't absorb it. It will simply disperse around you." She gave a slight smile. "Besides, I'm sure in your new form, you'll have no trouble keeping the male students in line, right?"
Bloom inwardly giggled at this. 'She's sounding like Stella.'
Hinako blushed at the compliment as she looked down at herself. Now that she was an adult at all times, she could really appreciate compliments about her looks. Whenever she changed into a child, people looked down at her and treated her like a child. It was very distressing at times, especially during that time she pursued Soun Tendo.
"I don't know how to thank you…"
"Just don't be too hard on Ranma or the other students." Said Bloom. "Don't be too quick to judge and at least hear out the whole story before you decide to discipline anyone, all right?"
Hinako nodded. After hearing Tecna's explanations as to what happened in the schoolyard, she realized that she had been too hasty. "All right. I will apologize for my… impulsiveness… Now that I am a full adult, I should really set a better example to the students."
"Sounds good to us!" said Tecna. She, Bloom, and Flora got up. "Now that everything's been settled, we got to get to class. It will be a pleasure learning under you, Miss Hinako."
Hinako watched as the three Faeries left. They were unlike any students she's ever met before in her career as a high school teacher. All the ones she's met were delinquents who needed discipline. However, those three had treated her with kindness despite what she tried to do to them earlier, not believing such compassion still existed in this world. Hinako also remembered that they were associated with Ranma. Perhaps they and those other three girls had some sort of influence over him? She began to think much has changed since she was gone on her trip.
End flashback…
'So Hinako-sensei will no longer be a child anymore, huh? Those girls are something, all right.' Thought Ranma.
He continued to listen to the lecture after the announcement was over.
Break period, schoolyard…
Layla was looking over the list of sporting events that are to take place as Bloom, Stella, and Musa look over her shoulder. Ranma, Flora, Tecna, Shampoo, Ukyou, and Mousse were eating.
"Hmm… this is quite a list of events here." Said Layla as she looked over the sheet. "Four hundred meter dash, three-legged race, ski shuffle race, scavenger race, cheerleading, costume race, relay, ball race, basket scramble, cavalry, tug-of-war, and marathon. Not sure what to sign up for."
"The tug-of-war involves the whole class." Said Bloom.
"That one be no contest!" said Shampoo with pride.
"So any thought on what you'll be signing up for?" Flora asked to the NWC.
"Truthfully, I never really thought about it…" replied Ranma.
"Come now, Ran-chan! You should give it a go!" said Ukyou. "For once something other than fighting! After what we have been through recently, it is a welcome change."
"You may have a point."
"Well I know what I want to sign up for." Said Musa.
While this was going on, Akane glared at the group. She did not look forward to having to cooperate with her ex-fiancee and his friends. She would show them all that she can win without their help.
Day of the Sports Fest…
The school grounds were full of activity as the area made way for the fest. Class tents and the sporting events were set up. At the announcement stands, Hinako stood before the podium.
"Alright, Furinkan! Today is the School Sports Fest! Let's all do our best and may the best class win! And remember, have fun!"
The students cheered and went to their respective class tents. Ranma was still clad in his usual attire like always, as was Mousse (which got him more than a few strange looks). Shampoo and Ukyou were in the Furinkan gym wear which were slightly modified. The shorts were very short and tight, which accentuated their curves. Their shirts stopped a little over their navels and were also tight, straining against their endowments.
For the Winx, they wore their own gym clothes for the occasion. Bloom was dressed in a light blue short sleeveless midriff tee with a red dragon print on the front and dark blue shorts that hugged her curves. Stella was clad in an orange triangle bikini top with star prints and orange shorts with a sun print on the back. Flora wore a small pink midriff t-shirt and magenta shorts which seemed to ride up further than the others'. Musa wore a red crop top with a black keyboard print and dark red shorts, her usual side-tails instead tied in a topknot ponytail. Tecna was wearing a purple midriff tee with green lines resembling circuit lines and a pair of indigo shorts with green digital 1s and 0s. Layla was dressed in a green sports bra and dark green shorts picturing a crashing wave.
"Alright, this will be fun!" said Layla as she punched her palm.
"This gives us a chance to wear these special gym clothes!" said Stella as she spun in a pirouette.
"Stella, we're competing in sports." Said Musa. "Though I have to admit, they are practical."
"Don't forget fashionable, my dear!"
"No kidding…" said Tecna. She and the others saw that their appearances were drawing the attentions of everyone, mostly the males.
"Hey girls, we should probably do some warm-ups first." Said Flora.
"Good idea." Said Ukyou.
The girls started going through their routines to get ready for the day's events. They all proved to be quite flexible. These innocent exercises, with their supple bodies coupled with the skimpy attires, became serious eye candy for the males within eyesight. Ranma and Mousse quickly excused themselves and ran around the back to cool themselves down with the water tap, then transformed before suddenly remembered their curses.
"Crap…"
"Quack!"
As the girls continued their stretches, Akane looked on in disdain.
'Sluts! All of them! They dare come to the sports fest dressed like that! Why is the school even allowing this!? They're nothing but sluts!'
Somewhere in the market streets…
Dr. Tofu Ono had left his office temporarily to gather some things for his clinic. He was a tall young man in his early twenties dressed in a black gi-style pharmacy outfit, rounded specs, and dark brown hair tied in a short tail in the back. In his young age, he had become a great chiropractor and opened a clinic in Nerima. There was no denying that Dr. Tofu's medical skill is great, and that he's also very knowledgeable in the art of pressure points. Because of it, he had quite a lot of customers at his clinic to have him cure what ails them.
There was just one problem: his uncontrolled nervousness when in the presence of Kasumi Tendo. His crush on the eldest Tendo girl was a major hazard to anyone around him. Dr. Tofu would accidentally cause more harm to the patients he treats whenever the Tendo woman would come to visit. Because of this, the regulars would have an alarm system whenever Kasumi stopped by in order to avoid accidental injuries or worse (the old folks still shuddered when they remembered that pigtailed youth coming out with his neck bent unnaturally).
"I wonder how everyone is doing right now?" wondered Tofu.
"Thank you very much and come again!"
"I will."
Tofu's eyes widened when he recognized the voice and turned towards its source. He saw a young woman whose back was to him. She was dressed in quite a revealing outfit that caught the eye of any hot-blooded male, himself included. When she turned around, his libido went into overdrive (insert sparkling slow-motion montage here as Kasumi turns and tosses her hair).
That woman was Kasumi? Conservative mild-mannered Kasumi?
"We seem to have gotten a good deal on these groceries, Sasuke." Said Kasumi.
"I quite agree, Mistress Kasumi!" said Sasuke.
"K-K-K-K-Kasumi…?"
Kasumi and Sasuke looked to see Dr. Tofu Ono up ahead, his glasses completely fogged up.
"Oh? Dr. Tofu?" said Kasumi in surprise.
Dr. Tofu began to wobble haphazardly towards them, accidentally knocking some people over in the process. "K-K-Kasumi! What a coincidence we'd meet here of all places! Ah hahahahaha!"
Sasuke cringed when he saw Dr. Tofu in his current state. He was all too familiar with how the chiropractor acts when under a 'Kasumi attack'. One time, he visited Dr. Tofu for treatment on his back due to a fall, then once Kasumi entered, the doctor accidentally bent the diminutive ninja backwards in a ninety-degree angle.
"Oh no! Not again! He's STILL not over his crush!?" said Sasuke.
As Kasumi looked on in confusion at Doctor Tofu's odd behavior, Sasuke's words echoed in her ears, which puzzled her. What was the big deal about all of this? It was just the way that he usually acted, whenever he was around her... She then blinked a few times, as she started to recall certain facts that she'd never really thought about properly at the time in question, or brushed off as Tofu being silly; the same way as she had viewed her family's actions, before Bloom had suggested that she take a much closer look at these actions. As she recalled that Tofu would only start to act silly in her presence, how flustered he got whenever she spoke to him, not to mention some of the conversations she'd overheard from people and Sasuke's recent words, it all added up to one conclusion: 'Doctor Tofu's got a crush on me?'
"Oh Kasumi! What lovely weather we're having, don't you think?" said Dr. Tofu, who was accidentally talking to Sasuke.
"She's over there, Doctor… I'm Sasuke…" said Sasuke, trying to redirect Tofu quickly.
"Oh! I'm so sorry about that." Said Tofu as he stood straight up and turned. "Hey there Kasumi! Ahahaha!" He slams face-first into a sign post, leaving a red imprint down his face.
"Dr. Tofu! Are you all right?" asked Kasumi in worry.
"Oh fit as a fiddle thanks for asking!" Tofu does a mock salute, albeit a bit too hard and fast, where he hits himself in the face.
People in the area began to give the doctor some distance, which Kasumi and Sasuke noticed. The two couldn't help but feel embarrassed.
"Mistress, I think we should leave for his sake and everyone here…" whispered Sasuke.
"I suppose we should…" agreed Kasumi. Now that she thinks about it, Tofu's behavior began to worry her. "I'm sorry, Dr. Tofu, but Sasuke and I are in the middle of running some errands, so maybe we'll see you later…"
"Oh sure take your time Kasumi! Ahahahaha!" said Tofu as he began waving in an exaggerated manner, not realizing that Kasumi and Sasuke were already gone.
Unknown to everyone else, Amore had been floating above, having witnessed the whole thing. She had seen a line connecting Kasumi and Tofu, but from Tofu's end looked very erratic.

Start of the Sports Fest…
The games have started off with the 400-meter dash. Ranma was chosen to run for the boys' race, where he easily outran the lot. It was no contest. His class, save Akane, cheered after he broke the tape. For the girls' half, Layla was chosen to run. Due to keeping herself fit, Layla had managed to win the run for her class. Much of the males couldn't help but stare at how her butt moved when she ran. Cheer came from her classmates after she had broken the tape. Akane looked away in jealousy.
'Hmph! I would've done it faster!'
Bloom and Stella competed in the three-legged race. Due to their bond, they were able to run the race without tripping as much as the other contestants. The race also doubled as a show for the boys as the two girls, er, jiggled as they ran due to the skimpy attires they were wearing (insert slow-motion sparkling pan shot of the two laughing while running). The boys, including Ranma and Mousse, suffered some serious nosebleeds. Bloom and Stella won first as their class cheered.
Kuno was suddenly before them.
"My gaijin flowers! Congratulations on your win! Allow me to reward thee by gracing thy lips with thine own!"
Kuno immediately attempted to glomp the redhead and blonde, but the girls placed a hand forth and shot him point-blank in the face with a fireball and light beam respectively, charring his head before leaving in a huff.
"Perhaps I shall reward thee later…" said Kuno before slumping into a heap.
Mousse participated in the obstacle course race, which he blazed through the course with ease, even without his glasses on. Had he still had his near-sightedness, he would have crashed into everything.
Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, and Layla competed in the ski shuffle race, which was like a modified three-legged race, where teams of six had to move as one by having their left feet strapped to a ski and their right feet on another, then shuffle in due time. Therefore, synchronization with teammates was key. The Alfea students didn't have that problem due to all their training in convergence magic.
Flora and Musa competed in the ball roll race, where pairs had to run to the finish while pushing a huge ball in front of them. They get second since Flora didn't have as much endurance as Musa did.
The tug of war was basically no contest to Ranma's class. Ranma alone would've been able to win by himself. Every class that went against his would get severely trounced. One class was even accidentally flung overhead. Because of this, the last class decided to play it safe and forfeit.
The basket scramble event was up, where Shampoo, Ukyou, and Akane were chosen to play.
"Just like basketball, huh?" said Ukyou as she one-hand juggled a beanbag.
"Sound simple enough." Said Shampoo.
"I'll win this, so don't you screw up or get in my way!" said Akane as she got herself ready.
Ukyou and Shampoo glared at the short-tempered girl. She may not want to work with them, but they weren't exactly thrilled working with her either. That temper of hers will be detrimental if anything.
At the sound of the gun, beanbags were flung into the air as all the participants tried to get theirs into the baskets mounted on the tall poles. Some had gone in, others not. Shampoo and Ukyou managed to get their beanbags thrown into the basket just fine through careful throws. Akane, on the other hand, was missing the basket every single time. She began to get angrier at every miss, making her throws even worse. Akane continued to angrily throw beanbags to get them in, but they would wind up bouncing off the basket's side.
"GRAAAH!" shouted Akane in anger.
"Akane! You need to calm down! You're making things worse!" said Ukyou.
"Shut up! You don't tell me what to do!"
Ukyou and Shampoo growled, knowing they'll have to make up for all of Akane's misses. They left her to her devices as they resumed throwing their beanbags in the basket. Akane kept missing, which made her steadily angrier and her throws even sloppier. When the time ended, they wind up in third due to Akane.
The scavenger race came up next as Tecna took to the starting line. At the starting signal, she and the other players ran up to a table with small folded papers on it. Tecna reached the table and took a folded note before unfolding to read what was inside. She paused at seeing the word on the note, then turned to run back to her class.
"Huh? She's coming this way…" said Ranma.
Tecna stopped before everyone.
"Tecna? What are you supposed to find?" asked Bloom.
"Well… about that…" Tecna started.
"Quit wasting time and hurry the hell up, you stupid gaijin!" shouted Akane.
Everyone glared at the short-tempered girl for the nasty comment. Tecna's eyes narrowed at the insult, but then she smirked. "Since you insisted so…"
Akane was suddenly wrapped up in a green digital net, courtesy of Tecna. "HEY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING! ?"
"You're coming with me!" said Tecna as she dragged Akane along with her towards the finish line.
Everyone was confused at this action.
"Huh? Akane…?" wondered Stella. It was then that she realized. "Wait… could it be…?"
The other girls reached the same conclusion.
"So it was THAT, huh?" said Layla.
"Wow, Tecna's got guts pulling that move off…" said Musa.
"GOAL!"
Tecna crossed the finish line with Akane behind her. The latter gets angry once the digital net disappeared. "What the hell do you think you were doing, you stupid slut! ?"
"Hey, we won the race, didn't we?" said Tecna. "I crossed the finish with the item I was supposed to find."
"What? And it was me? What were you supposed to find anyway?"
Tecna smirked and tosses her the folded note. Catching it, Akane looked to see one word written on it:
BITCH.
"I'd say my choice was logical and accurate." Said Tecna.
"WHY YOU!"
Tecna took off laughing as Akane angrily gave chase. (1)
The Sports Fest goes into halftime for the cheerleading session. Each class formed a cheerleader squad from a chosen few to represent their team classes. Routines and chants were various and uniforms of their own design. The Winx were selected to do the cheerleading. Rather than dress up in cheerleader outfits, they opt with going out in their Enchantix forms, each holding pom-poms of light. Needless to say, their Enchantix modes garnered a LOT of attention, especially their movements in such skimpy attire. It seemed when the Winx are in Enchantix, their legs just seem to go on forever and ever.
'Glory-hogging whores…' thought Akane angrily.
"Next up is the Costume Race! Participants, please take your positions!"
Players of all classes gathered up dressed in assorted costumes. Such entries included a chef, a police officer, a pirate, a ninja, a vampress, an exorcist, a cowgirl, and others.
"Ukyou and Shampoo are taking part in this event." Said Flora.
"I have a feeling I know what they're going as…" said Ranma with a smirk.
"WHOA! CHECK IT OUT!"
"FREAKIN' HOT!"
"JUST LIKE AT THE STEEL CHEF CONTEST!"
"WOOT!"
Everyone turned to see Were-Shampoo and Were-Ukyou walk in with their tails swaying. The two martial artists had used their lycanthrope forms as costumes for the race. They also, er, jiggled a bit from their movements, causing the boys to get even more riled.
"Kind of funny how all still think this cosplay." Said Were-Shampoo.
"Even transformed, I still can't believe it myself." Added Were-Ukyou.
"Hey you two! What's with the slutty costumes! ?" The two looked to see Akane glaring at them. "Have you no feminine modesty at all! ?"
"Hmph… what Violent Girl know about feminity anyway?" said Were-Shampoo.
"What was that! ?"
"Please. You're just jealous we can pull something like this off and you can't." said Were-Ukyou.
"JEALOUS! ? Of being slutty! ? You're out of your mind!" Akane angrily stomps off.
Were-Shampoo and Were-Ukyou just shake their heads before getting to the starting line.
At the start signal, Were-Ukyou and Were-Shampoo took off like a shot. The catgirl and foxgirl ran on all fours, which was faster as opposed to running on two legs. Again, due to their big movements, not to mention their 'outfits' don't support much, they jiggled a lot as they ran. The very sight of them alone was enough to drive the male audience crazy, but their movements caused their libidos to go into overdrive. Ranma and Mousse couldn't help but blush horribly at the sight while the Winx smirk at their reactions.
"Boys will be boys, right?" said Stella to the others.
Were-Shampoo and Were-Ukyou win the race, placing first. Everyone, especially the males, cheered for their victory as the two girls raised their arms in triumph.
Once more, Kuno appeared.
"My feral beauties! Allow I, Tatewaki Kuno, to congratulate thee for the victory of the race!"
The insane kendoist attempted to glomp the two weregirls, but they showed him how they felt about it by criss-cross scratching him down the face, making him scream in pain. They followed up by axe-kicking his head into the ground before walking off.
"Perhaps I shall reward thee later…"
"Next up is the Cavalry Battle!"
The ones competing were Bloom, Flora, Musa, and Layla. Flora wore a red bandanna on her head as she rode on the others, with Layla up front, and Bloom and Musa behind her.
"You girls all right down there?" asked Flora.
"No problem here, Flora! Just focus on grabbing bandannas, we won't let you fall." Said Layla.
"Alright then…"
The gun was fired and all the players rushed at each other.
Saotome complex…
Kasumi and Sasuke were in the living room after having put away the groceries. Sitting across from them was Nodoka.
"I trust the trip went well?" asked Nodoka.
"Yes, Mistress Saotome." Replied Sasuke.
"Yes, Auntie." Added Kasumi. "We ran into Dr. Tofu earlier."
"Oh? That young chiropractor I've been hearing about?" asked Nodoka.
"Yes. I know it might be late, but I'm starting to get a better understanding of his odd behavior around me…"
"Odd behavior…?"
"I can explain, Mistress…" said Sasuke. The diminutive ninja began to relay how Tofu is a genius physician, but whenever Kasumi is in the vicinity, his intelligence just evaporates. Because of this, he would wind up accidentally doing stupid things or causing physical pain to himself and others around him.
"I thought he was just being silly, but now that I started paying attention to things, I realize that he acts that way, because he's got a crush on me…?" Kasumi said with a slight blush.
"Tell me, Kasumi, how do you feel about this man?" asked Nodoka.
Kasumi was a bit shocked and didn't know how to answer.
Back to the Sports fest…
"GOAL!"
With that said, the cavalry battle was over. Flora class managed to snag third place. The nature girl tried to be as non-violent as she could when trying to take out the other participants, then in the end gets taken out. Bloom, Musa, and Layla don't fault her for it, though, since they placed high enough anyway.
"The final event is the school-wide ten-K marathon!"
This was it, the final event. Ranma's class was quite far ahead and it wouldn't take much to get first in the Sports Fest unless something went horribly wrong. Everyone began to do stretches to warm up for the long run about to take place. Again, the Winx and the martial artists were getting some attention from the males due to their warm up exercises.
"Oh no… I'm not good at long distances on foot." Said Flora.
"Same with me! I'd prefer to fly!" added Stella.
"Now now, you know we can't do that, Stella." Said Bloom. She recalled a certain incident on a bus when she, Stella, Musa, and Layla had visited Gardenia two years ago. (2)
"It will be a good workout for you." Said Layla as she continued her stretches.
"Easy for you to say. You're the most athletic of us." Said Musa.
"No worries. Just as long as most of our class finishes high, we'll win." Said Tecna as she typed on her PDA. "Besides, we've got Ranma, Shampoo, Ukyou, and Mousse in our class."
The girls looked over to the four martial artists doing their warm-ups.
Akane looked on in disdain. 'I'll show them! I'll show them all!'
"Runners! Take your positions!"
The students lined up at the starting line at the school front yard.
"Ready! Set!"
The gun sounds off and everyone makes a run for it. They exited the school gate and turned the corner where the course went through a portion of Nerima before circling back at the school gate.
"I'LL SHOW THEM ALL!" Akane suddenly burst forward and left everyone trailing behind her, much to the shock of everyone else. She was already out of sight.
"What is she doing?" wondered Ranma.
"That bad strategy." Said Shampoo.
Ranma could only shake his head.
Everyone was running at their own pace as the students went through the parks of Nerima where the course was outlined. Flora couldn't help but admire the scenery as she jogged. "Oh my. I should remember to come by here later."
"That's Flora for you, always entranced by nature." Said Stella. "Ahh… sun feels warm today!"
As Stella soaked in the rays as she ran, Bloom and Musa jogged up ahead. Layla was jogging briskly, but she was also running directly behind a person before suddenly running past to jog directly behind someone further up ahead. Tecna took note of this and realized what her strategy was. 'Of course. How did I not see that sooner? Layla is indeed an athlete.'
Shampoo ran without much effort. To her, this was just a light workout compared to her Amazonian training back home in China. The same could be said for Mousse. Ukyou had to put in a little more effort, but it was still no problem for her, being a trained martial artist and all. It was really no problem for Ranma as well, considering his own training. He did, after all, swam all the way to China from Japan (all because Genma was too cheap to buy plane tickets), then there was also the so-called 'Saotome Final Attack', which was nothing more than running away from a strong opponent in order to think of a better way to fight back.
All the runners reached the halfway point where the path began to circle back towards Furinkan High. A lot of the students began to tire out from the run, and now only five more kilometers left to go.
At the seven kilometer point, Ranma and the others caught sight of a certain someone breathing hard and slowing down.
"Hey! Look up there!" said Bloom.
Akane was breathing hard after having made the sprint in the beginning. Now she began to feel the effects of fatigue and wasted energy. She felt like her heart was going to stop at any moment. Soon, a majority of the runners had gone past her after she had used up her reserves.
Ranma, Shampoo, Ukyou, Mousse, Layla, Bloom, Musa, Tecna, Stella, and Flora soon passed the short-tempered girl. Akane became angry at seeing them pass her.
'No! I refuse to let them beat me! I won't be beaten by a bunch of sluts!'
Akane angrily tried to push herself to keep running, but her body just wouldn't cooperate. She had already spent all her energy in the beginning of the marathon. Akane may be fit, but she just wasn't endurant. Long races such as these relied on stamina and endurance. It was basically like her martial arts. She exerts all her energy into her blows, but never conserves it for other aspects of winning a fight, such as defense, reflex, and speed, making her one-dimensional. She would just tire herself out where her opponent would take advantage of. Akane also trains to build up strength, but not to take hits, so her endurance as a martial artist is not so great. That was basically due to everyone always coddling her. (3)
Akane's pride may make her refuse to give in, but her body's actions spoke otherwise. When she tried to run, she would just tire herself out even more and slow down. Soon, more racers passed her. In her anger, Akane didn't pay attention to where she was going and tripped over a rock, causing her to fall flat on her face.
In the final kilometer, everyone started to pick up their pace.
"There's the finish!"
The high school front yard serving as the finish line was closing in fast. All the students mad a mad dash towards the goal. In the end, Layla was the one who finished first in the marathon, with Ranma a close second. Everyone else made the top twenty. Layla's strategy of using other runners to shield herself from wind resistance thus allowing her to run without spending too much energy had paid off. Bringing up the rear was Akane, having recovered from her fall and still fatigued. (4)
"And that ends the marathon! After tallying up the results, victory goes to… Hinako Ninomiya's class!"
The class sans Akane cheered at the news.
"You did it, Layla!" said Ranma.
Kuno runs up to her. "My dark beauty! Allow my gracious self to properly reward your victory!" He attempts to glomp her followed with a kiss, but was quickly sent flying when Layla called up her morphix which grabed the insane kendoist and flung him headfirst into the school flagpole. "Perhaps I shall rest here first…"
Ranma and Mousse suddenly lifted Layla up on their shoulders as everyone chanted her name. Akane angrily glared at them.
Closing ceremonies…
"And thus marks the end of the Furinkan High Sports Festival! For the closing ceremonies, our exchange students want to do a performance."
There was a stage lined with speakers covered by a curtain in the middle of the yard. The music starts as the curtains rose.

Nodoka, Kasumi, Sasuke, and the Pixies welcomed back everyone.
"So how was the festival?" asked Nodoka.
"Oh, it was fun!" replied Layla.
"Our Layla here got first in the marathon!" bragged Stella as she wrapped her arm around Layla's neck.
"Also, our class won first!" added Musa.
"Congratulations, Layla! You should be proud!" said Nodoka. "And to all of you as well. I'm sure you've all built up quite the appetites."
"Oh yeah, definitely!" said Ranma.
"Well, dinner is almost ready, everyone. I've prepared for your return."
"Music to my ears!"
Ranma immediately ran for the dining room, causing the girls to giggle.
Kasumi was the last to follow. Her thoughts were lost back on what happened earlier today, with the meeting with Tofu Ono, and Nodoka's talk.
'What should I do…?'
She goes to join the others. Unknown to her, Amore had been watching her. "That poor girl… she seems to be in conflict…"

Whew! FINALLY! I'm FINALLY finished with this chapter! It was hard trying to flesh things out. I honestly thought this would've been a breeze to do, but that became my undoing. Certain things had to be taken into account, and if I miss these. It would just lead to bad writing, and I don't want to do that. Next chapter is another plot point I have to consider.

(3)Let's face it. Akane has zero defensive skill and little to no endurance when taking hits. She's basically a glass cannon; can dish out pain, but sure as hell can't take it. Why is it in the canon series, she ALWAYS gets shielded from experiencing pain? She was practically untouchable while everyone else (Ranma especially) always endure whatever pain comes their way, sometimes some of it meant for her.
