Shinigami Saiyan
~A/N~
Heads up, bit of an unorthodoxed means of story telling in the chapter.
"Damn it all, I wish Orihime would stop with the bentos." Deku groaned, walking home in the. "I know she means well, but her cooking is wrecking havoc on my digestive tract."
"Hey, if it isn't Deku." One of the Saiyan's upper classmen said, putting his arm over his shoulders. "Where've you been man? Haven't seen ya at school in a couple weeks."
"Oh, hey man."
"So come on, tell us where you've been." Another classmate said as the two others joined his side, one of them holding a cage. "We wanna know what's been keeping you from school."
"To be honest? On and off food poisoning. Just got out of the clinic tonight."
"Sorry to hear that man." The tallest among their group said.
"Chad right?" Deku asked.
"Sado."
"We haven't spoken much. What's with the cage?"
"Oh it's got a cursed bird in it." One of the others said. "Come on, we were just heading into this construction yard to check it out."
"Join us." The first guy said, leading Deku into the construction yard, with Chad following.
The one carrying the cage put it down as they all settled themselves in, and removed the cover, revealing a yellow and white feathered cockatiel. Deku could sense there was something more to this bird, and he could sense the soul of more then just an animal inside it.
"Seriously, a cockatiel that's cursed?"
"Uh-huh. All of the people who've owned this bird, have gotten into these really terrible situations, and died."
"Wow, are you serious?"
"That's not a good sign."
"So Shigeio, you wanna take him?"
"So please, tell me. Just how stupid do I look to you? Here's an idea, why don't you set him free, or dump him some place?"
"I can take him." Deku said.
"You serious man?"
"You got a death wish or something?"
"Nah, I just got a knack for breaking curses, that's all." Deku stated, putting his finger to the cage, before the cockatiel began going nuts, as if warning them about something. "What about you Chad? You wan him?"
"It's Sado, and I don't know." Chad said.
"He seems pretty spooked about something."
"What do you think it is?"
The sound of screeching metal echoed in Deku's ears and his survival instincts rose, before he pushed the three of them away, and put his body over the cage, right before a steel girder dropped from the sky, and broke part of the ground.
"Oh crap, Deku."
The dust settled, and the three gasped, when they saw Deku, barely standing on shaking legs as he was crouched down to brace for the impact, with his arms crossed over his tucked in head, and breathing heavily with blood dripping down the side of his face.
"No way."
"Hold on man." Chad said, throwing the girder off the Saiyan. "You okay?" He asked, catching Deku as his legs gave out.
"Of course he's not okay, he just had a 2ton girder fall on top of him. We need to get him to a hospital."
"Shigeio… look at the girder."
Deku's classmate looked to the girder and his eyes widened, when he saw the girder had been bent into the shape of the part of Deku's body it landed on.
"What the hell is he made of?"
"Thank you so much for saving me."
The four of them looked down to the cockatiel, as it was the one who just spoke up.
"Did… did that bird just talk?" Chad asked.
"It did." Deku groaned, getting to his feet, and stuffing his hands in his pockets. "An' I think I know why."
"Hello there, my name is Yuichi Shibata. So what's your name Mister?"
"Did you hear that? That bird is talking like a real person."
"Yeah, I heard it. That bird is cursed."
"I'd really like to know your name Mister."
"My name's Deku." The Saiyan smiled grabbing the cage. "You're coming home with me little guy. We'll get this curse sorted out right quick."
"No wait, you can't take me home you'll…"
"It's fine." Deku said, stopping Yuichi from arguing. "I'll see you guys later."
"Wait hold on, you don't need to go to the hospital?"
"I'll be fine. No need to worry, as you saw I'm stronger then I look." Deku stated, walking off.
Heading down the dark streets, Deku took note of a few things he spotted before the left the construction sight.
"Damn it, some of my blood got on Chad. I hope that doesn't have any adverse affects on him in the future." He hissed, using a handkerchief to put pressure on the wound that opened on his head.
"Please don't do this Mister. I don't want you getting hurt more then you already have." Yuichi said as they pass through a park.
"It's fine. I can handle myself." Deku said. "Now, what did the monster that stuffed your soul into that body look like?"
"He… looked like a man sized frog monster with a main, a bone mask, wings like things on his forearms, and a hole in his chest you could see right through." Yuichi said.
"As I thought. A Hollow did this to you." Deku said.
"So, why did you just leave your friends like that?" Yuichi asked.
"Well to be honest, they aren't actually my friends. They like to keep me around, I think they do it out of pity because I'm an orphan who lives on his own." Deku explained, before something in his memories clicked. "Wait a minute, Yuichi Shibata?"
"Yes?"
"Tell me, were you the one responsible for killing the man who murdered your mother? The Serial Killer known as Shrieker?" Deku asked, putting the cage down and kneeling in front of it.
"It was an accident." Yuichi said. "But after he died, that monster came and put me in this body, and has been using me as bait for his victims ever since. He promised if I do that for him, he'll bring my Mommy back to life."
"That vile…" Deku tsked, clenching his fist, before standing tall and cracking his neck. "I'm guessing that's why you've been following us? Because you believe I'll be your next victim, Shrieker?"
"Clever little human, aren't ya?" Shrieker asked, manifesting himself.
"Oh, I am no human." Deku said, crouching over the cage, and exiting his body, showing Shrieker his uniform.
"A Shinigami?" Shrieker asked.
"You're gonna answer for all the souls you've stolen the life from, and I'll make sure to personally take you to hell." Deku said, cracking his knuckles and stepping closer to the Hollow. "My Doctor said to take it easy, but I'm sure he would agree this is a special case of exception." He stated, pulling his fist back and slamming it into Shrieker's face, knocking him back into a tree.
"That… that actually hurt."
"Of course it did." Deku said.
(Cue Music… Enemy: Imagine Dragons)
"You're fighting a Rogue Shinigami." He stated, pulling out a pair of 20" blade Bowie swords, with brass knuckle D-Guards, with the hilts up, and the blades down.
"Wait hold on, Shinigami only wield a single blade." Shrieker said.
"I wield two." Deku said. "Sing and sting Tsuki, Hoshi. Shikai."
The blades of Deku's Zanpakuto glowed an ethereal blue like the moon and stars, before he charged at the Hollow, and swung down at him. Shrieker dodged the attack before it could connect, but the he was still able to feel the strike, as his body was hit with damage.
"But how? I dodged the attack."
"Did you?" Deku asked, suddenly in his face, with the blade where the injury was.
"An illusion?"
"Tsuki's special ability allows for me to manipulate the time space around me to see the outcome of an initial attack, allowing for a change in course of my attack to ensure I never miss, while Hoshi's ability makes my enemy see the initial attack they dodge still play out from the previous timeline." Deku stated, as two fairy like creatures, one with a moon hair pin in her bangs, and the other wearing a ribbon tied in the shape of a star, holding up her ponytail.
"Damn you." Shrieker stated, before a frog creature came out of his main of fur and spat out leaches on Deku.
"Gross, what are these things?" Deku questioned.
"Ha, let's see how tough you are now that you don't have your weapons." Shrieker said, sticking out his tongue and causing it to vibrate at a frequency that not only hurt his ears, but also caused the leaches to detonate like bombs.
The leaches on his wrists detonating, forced Deku to drop Tsuki and Hoshi, before he fell to his knees with burns all over his body.
"Strange, you were able to hear the sonic waves I let off." Shrieker said, stepping over Deku, and examining him.
"Well… what can I say?" Deku asked, breathing heavily, before he hit the Hollow with an uppercut to the jaw, and grabbed him by the throat. "I guess I'm more of a beast, then I thought."
"But… how?" Shrieker asked. "Shinigami are powerless without their blades."
"That's where you're wrong." Deku said, Tsuki and Hoshi sitting on his shoulders. "The blades may be the vessels for my weapons, but the true power that unlocks their forms, comes from within ones soul."
Letting go of Shrieker, Deku threw him off the ground, and with a spinning kick, hit him in the chest, above the hole, and sent hims into a tree.
Shrieker called out for several more of his minions to attack, and Deku just slammed them away to the side, his fist lined with Ki, destroying the leach bombs.
"You're some kind of monster."
"Maybe…" Deku said. "But have you looked in a mirror lately?"
Pulling his fist back Deku slammed his fist into Shrieker's bone mask, causing it to crack, before pulling back and jumping forward, hitting the murderous Hollow with a headbutt and knocking him to the ground.
(End Song…)
"Now answer me when I ask you this ass hat." Deku said, grabbing Shrieker by his masked. "Why promise Yuichi to bring his mother back to life, if he did your dirty work for you, when you know you don't have the power to do it."
"Go to hell."
Deku just grit his teeth, and slammed his foot on the Hollow's leg, breaking it and causing him to cry out in pain.
"Tell me, or I swear I will make you suffer before sending you to hell."
"Because I knew, the little brat would have done anything to see his whore of a mother again." Shrieker stated. "I made him a promise I knew I couldn't keep, and made him get his own hands dirty."
Deku was silent, his eyes overshadowed with anger, before his grip tightened on the Hollow's mask, as Shrieker just laughed at his plan, and how he'd tricked a child. But his laughter soon stopped, when Deku grabbed one of his arms, and just tore it off.
"What the hell? Why would you do something like that?" Shrieker questioned.
"You think it's funny?" Deku questioned. "Murdering and tricking an innocent child, into luring innocent victims to their doom, and ending their lives, just for your own amusement?"
Deku glared menacingly at Shrieker, but what he saw wasn't the Hollow, it was the visage of Frieza, laughing in front of him.
"I won't let you, do this to anyone, anymore."
Deku hoisted Shrieker up by his mask, and holding out his hand, one of his blades returned to him.
"I'm gonna end you… here and now."
Throwing Shrieker up into the air, Deku flew after him at lightning fast speeds, and cut him clean through in half.
Remaining in the air, Deku just glared at Shrieker as the gates of hell opened up behind the Hollow. The gates were large, menacing, and evil looking. The perfect fear inducer for sinners as they are dragged to hell.
Shrieker just looked at the gates, before he was skewered from the side, his two halves separating momentarily, before he was dragged into the depths of hell.
Landing back on the ground, Deku grabbed Hoshi, and sheathed his Zanpakuto, before returning to the area he left his body and the bird in. The fight had been dragged deeper into the park, so he wasn't sure what had happened, but when he got there, he saw his body being loaded into an ambulance, with Chad standing next to it, holding the bird cage.
"That dummy." Deku sighed, having calmed down from the anger Shrieker rose in him.
Walking past Chad, Deku smiled and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Take good care of Yuichi until I can retrieve him." Deku said.
Chad seemed to raise his head in shock, before turning around, and saw nothing there. But even though he couldn't see Deku, he still felt his hand, and heard his voice as he stood right there.
Letting go of Chad, Deku followed the ambulance to the hospital, and when the moment was right, he merged back with his body, connecting his soul to the mortal realm once again. The paramedics were shocked, but relieved he was alive, and continued on to the hospital to treat him.
~The Following Morning~
"Ichigo, where are you going? You have Soul Reaper training." Rukia asked her student.
"Deku's been taken to the hospital." Ichigo said. "Apparently he was hanging out with Chad and his friends last night, and he got injured real bad. I'm not sure about the details, but I'm going to go visit him to see how he's doing."
"Alright, but we pick training back up tomorrow." Rukia said. "I'm going to Urahara's shop. I need to ask him a few questions."
Leaving school, the two went their separate ways, with Ichigo heading for the hospital, and Rukia heading for Urahara's shop. When she got there, she found the two children who Deku spoke about in their last conversation.
"You two, is Urahara in?" Rukia asked.
"Yeah, what's it to you?" Jinta asked.
"I need to speak with him."
"Well, if it isn't Ms. Kuchiki." Urahara said with a smile. "What can I do for you?"
"I'm here, to talk to you about Deku." Rukia said. "I wanna know why you decided to bring him back to the world of the living, instead of letting him train with the Grand Kai, or even reincarnating when the opportunity arose."
"I figured as much." Urahara said. "Please, come inside. I'll explain everything."
Following Urahara into his shop, Rukia took a seat at the table and given a cup of tea by Urahara's top employee Tessai.
"So, what do you wanna know about Deku?" Urahara asked.
"I wanna know, why you chose to bring him back, and how you managed to put him in a body, that's not a Gigai." Rukia said.
"Ah, yes. Well, to be honest. I saw a fire in him, and I didn't want it to be extinguished so soon." Urahara said.
"So what about your little deal with the tallies?" Rukia asked.
"I never had any intention of keeping my end of the deal should he exceed his tab with the tallies." Urahara said. "I just used it as a means for him to keep his anger in check. That boy has the potential to be either the savior of the universe, or its destroyer."
"So the tally system was just a means to an end." Rukia said. "Why though?"
"First, let me tell you how I managed to get him back in an actual living body."
~Flashback~
"Wait, you want me to what old man?" Deku asked.
"Come on kid, I just brought you back from the Other World check in station." Urahara said. "I'll say it again. In order to put you back in a living body, your chain has to be severed completely. Which means, there's a risk of you turning into a Hollow."
"An' a Hollow is, what exactly?"
"A monster, who devours the souls of the living to gain power, who were spirits themselves, who spent too much time in the world of the living unable to pass on." Urahara said. "Currently you're what's known as a whole. A spirit who's just recently died. An' given the length of your chain, I'd say you have several years before your transformation into a Hollow begins."
"So once my chain is gone, I start turning into a Hollow?" Deku asked.
"Correct, but since we're not gonna be waiting a few years, we're gonna shorten the chain to where you'll only have 120 hours." Urahara said.
"What?" Deku asked, before Tessai grabbed the chain and shortened it considerably. "What the hell?"
"You have 5 days before you become a Hollow. Your new body will be ready by then, but we'll only have a split second of time to get you into it, before you begin turning into a Hollow." Urahara explained. "Until then, just try to relax, and not stress out. Stressing about the chain devouring itself and turning into a Hollow is only gonna speed up the process."
"Alright, what should I do while I wait then?" Deku asked.
"Familiarize yourself with this world, and its cultures. You'll be living here in Japan with me, so you're gonna have to get familiar with your new home." Urahara said. "Just stay close, and don't wonder off too far. The city is crawling with Hollows, and any one of them, would love for the chance to devour your soul."
"I'll keep that in mind." Deku said.
"So, for the next few days, I set about creating Deku's new body, enlisting the help of Yoruichi as it was vital for creating the body." Urahara explained, as the scenes changed from Deku training, to him in his lab, to Deku fighting off Hollows, then to Urahara injecting something into a coco skinned woman's lower abdomen. "How I brought him back, was essentially through my own means of reincarnation. An' to do it properly, I needed Yoruichi's body to act as the incubator for Deku's new body."
"So, you essentially got Yoruichi pregnant with Deku." Rukia said.
"She acted more as a surrogate for the body, but in a sense yes." Urahara said. "Deku's body had already been made, in a sense. We just needed Yoruichi to incubate and let it grow for five days, to properly develop. An' she did it all while in a Gigai."
"Where did you get the Saiyan DNA for making the body?" Rukia asked.
"An old friend, he spoke out against my execution, and even nearly destroyed the Soul Society before resigning from his place as Captain of the First Division." Urahara said. "You may remember him, his name was Yamoshi, and I had plenty of his stem cells and blood samples to work with."
"Alright kid, it's been nearly five days since the chain was cut. How are you feeling?" Urahara asked.
"I could be better." Deku said, sitting on the ground in restraints. "Why am I being restrained like this, and who's this?" He asked, looking to Urahara's side.
Standing next to Urahara was a dark skinned woman, with short magenta hair, wearing a cloak that covered her whole body.
"It's precaution." Urahara said. "An' this is my best friend, Yoruichi. She's been helping with creating your new body."
"I know I'm probably gonna regret asking, but where is my new body?" Deku inquired, getting a bad feeling about what was going on.
"Right here." Yoruichi said, removing her cloak, showing she was in a backless, limbless single piece leotard, sporting a rather large, full term pregnant belly. "Amazing right, your body grew this big in only five days."
"The hell?" Deku asked. "How the hell am I supposed to get my new body if it isn't finished yet?"
"I know this is unorthodoxed, but hear me out." Urahara said. "The only way, you'd get an actual second chance at life, is if you were reincarnated. Which means you'd lose all your memories, and start life over without a care in the world."
"So how is this any different?" Deku asked, his eyes on Yoruichi's belly, seeing his body move through her taut skin and leotard.
"With your soul chain gone completely, you'll be able to start life over again, but with having this new body without your soul chain, your soul won't be forced through a reboot, like a normal reincarnation." Urahara said.
"I see, so if I went in with this thing still attached then…" Deku began, looking down at the Soul Chain that was only a link and a half left.
"Then you'd start over with an actual reboot." Urahara said. "I was actually kinda concerned. I didn't think you'd last this long. Normally, the chains go wild in devouring themselves every three days."
"I managed to calm them back to their normal pace, with some Ki manipulation." Deku said. "So what are we waiting for? Remove the rest of my soul chain, and let's get to it."
"It's not that simple." Urahara said. "This type of Reincarnation is one of the reasons why I was kicked out of the Soul Society by the Supreme Kai and the current Captain of the First Division in the first place. It's unknown territory, you're literally the only one who's actually agreed to try it this way. We don't actually know if the results will be good or not."
"An' you're telling me this now?" Deku asked. "I barely have a link in my soul chain left."
"It slipped my mind, oopsie." Urahara said, before Yoruichi smacked him upside the head with a giant fan. "I deserved that."
"Listen, Deku was it?" Yoruichi asked. "I get you're scared, and I get you're concerned about how this might go. That's why we're gonna be using this, to keep a backup of your memories, in case you don't retain them." She said, holding up a gem. "You have no reason to trust me, but I promise you, I'll make sure you come back as who you were."
Deku looked Yoruichi in the eye, before he sighed.
"I don't have much of a choice, so I'll trust you?" Deku said, before Yoruichi pulled him in for a hug.
"That's a start."
Pulling back from Deku, Yoruichi sat on her knees across from him, her hands resting on her belly.
"The last of your chains should be gone in 3… 2… 1…" Urahara counted down.
As Deku braced himself for what was to come, he felt an immense pain irradiate through his entire body, before the chain in his chest vanished, leaving a hole they could clearly see through.
Writhing in pain, Deku cried out as it felt like he was being destroyed from the inside out.
"Something's wrong. He shouldn't be in this much pain." Urahara said, before realizing something. "The chains. When he calmed them with his Saiyan abilities, their power had to go somewhere, and that somewhere, was the final link in his soul chain, causing the pain to be greater then it should be."
"Fight it Deku." Yoruichi said. "Remember what you're fighting for, who you want to protect."
Deku's mind was racing with pain, but in that he heard Yoruichi's words, and his thoughts fell to the only person he had left, that he considered family.
"Ka… Kakarot." Deku managed to say, an image of the infant Saiyan coming to the forefront of his mind, before he screamed out in pain.
A pillar of power enveloped his body, as he cried out, letting a monstrous roar pass through his lips, as a multiple streams of a white substance formed out of the ether and attached themselves to his face.
"He's turning into a Hollow." Urahara said.
"No look." Yoruichi pointed out. "The mask is forming first, not the body. He's somehow staving off the transformation, resulting in the process being reversed."
Letting out another roar of pain, Deku broke through his restraints, and charged at Yoruichi, before vanishing in a thread of light and entering her body, through her belly.
"Did… did it work?" Yoruichi asked.
"I'm not sensing any Hollow energy coming from you, or the body within you." Urahara said. "I think it worked."
"Let's check him out, just to be sure."
~End Flashback~
"After that, we got Yoruichi checked out, and Deku's rebirth seemed fine." Urahara said. "She remained pregnant with him for a few more weeks to make sure the soul bonded with the body properly, before he was reborn. But once he was, he returned to his normal age, and interestingly enough his soul had more of an imprint on the body then we expected."
"The scars on his chest. They manifested themselves on his new body, because of how strong an impact they had on his soul in his previous life."
"Bingo." Urahara stated. "However, we found out that he had lost his memories of that day. So when he woke up again, I just told him the bonding was a success, even though the vat his body was grown in, was destroyed in the process."
"But why keep that from him?" Rukia asked. "Yoruichi is basically like his mother, so why keep that from him?"
"It was her idea." Urahara said. "Yoruichi wanted him to never know about his Hollowfication. She was afraid that telling him, might cause him to go down a spiral of darkness, and take on the mantle, traits, and behavior of a Hollow, thus reigniting the Hollowfication."
"I see." Rukia said.
"We also needed to keep his anger in check." Urahara said. "Otherwise, he'd unintentionally tap into a power, not even I know how to explain. It's not like anything that's ever happened before."
"So what you're saying, there's a possibility that he could access that power, and turn into a living Hollow, a creature never seen before, completely." Rukia stated.
"Exactly." Urahara said. "We couldn't just simply put him in a Gigai, otherwise it would need regular maintenance. An' with his latent abilities, that'd be more trouble then it was worth. So we had to go with reincarnation, while still keeping him as a Saiyan."
"In other words, that was literally the only way."
"Pretty much." Urahara said.
"I'm probably gonna regret this." Rukia sighed. "Deku told me about his deal with you, about changing handlers."
"Are you saying you're willing to take on that responsibility?" Urahara asked.
"I am."
There was a moment of silence, before Urahara gave the Kuchiki girl his answer.
"Sorry, not happening." Urahara said waving his hand in front of his face as if swatting away a fly.
"What? Why not?"
"As his handler, you'd have to actually move to the human world, and without the permission of your superiors, you can't make that call." Urahara stated. "At this point, Ichigo Kurosaki would be the better option."
"Why him?" Rukia asked. "He's only a substitute Soul Reaper."
"A Soul Reaper nonetheless." Urahara said. "However, being a handler for a reincarnation, doesn't really involve much. All it really requires is checking in on the reincarnated soul, every now and then without much fuss, and write a report about it. I even provide King Yemma with a report every month. Which is why Ichigo would be an ideal choice, since he spends every day with Deku, and he doesn't have to send a report to anyone, plus he already lives here."
"I see." Rukia said. "I'll run this by him, but if he says no, Rangiku might be able willing to become his handler."
"Hmm? You mean Captain Shorty's second in command? She's here in the human world?" Urahara asked.
"She's been temporarily demoted." Rukia said. "An' she's been handling lost souls, sending them to the Soul Society. Apparently though, she's been staying at Deku's house."
"My, quite the snag there Deku. He does me proud." Urahara said.
"Anyway. I'll go talk with Ichigo about becoming Deku's handler." Rukia stated, getting up.
"One more thing before you go." Urahara said. "It's about Deku's biology."
"What about it?"
"Keep an eye out for anyone who's close to him. See if they're exhibiting signs of seeing spirits, or Hollows." Urahara said. "If they are, then chances are high that some of his DNA got on them, like blood from a fight, or sweat from playing sports, and is awakening some dormant spirit energy within them. It's a side effect of tampering with his Saiyan biology to remove the stunted growth, and inhuman appetite he would normally have, while unlocking his own spirit energy."
"I'll keep an eye out." Rukia said. "But while I'm here… I would like to place an order for something."
