The golden ray of the sun fluttered through the curtains that were ruffling in the slight fall breeze. He had forgotten to close the windows again he was sure of it. Even more so when his feet hit the frozen floor and he let out an unmanly shriek and jumped on the bed.
"What's wrong, Barry?" Iris asked, sitting up and looking at him in concern.
"Nothing," he sighed, walking over to the window and closing it after putting on his slippers. "Just forgot to close the window when I went to bed last night. I'm surprised neither of us noticed it until now."
"Me too," Iris said, a troubled look crossing her face as she drew into deep thought. "But I could have sworn that the window was closed last night, Barry."
Barry thought back to last night's events. Everything seemed to be a blur which was normally how the world looked like when Barry was running. But he wasn't running now. He was trying to remember. Because if he didn't leave the window open then someone must have let themselves in and out of his and Iris's house.
"Last night is all a blur to me," he said, sitting down and putting his head in his hands. "I can remember snippets of it. But it all just kind of blurs together like when I'm running."
It was times like these that Barry wasn't too happy that Caitlyn had found a way for him to drink and feel the effects. If she hadn't found this formula then he was pretty sure that he wouldn't be in this position, to begin with.
"Well, I know you were out with Oliver and Dig," Iris said, thinking about the facts that she knew. "And Cisco was there."
"Yeah," he said, looking up at her. "It's sort of a boy's night out sort of deal."
"A boy's night out?"
"Sort of like a girl's night out but with more manly activities."
Barry wouldn't mention that said manly activities included looking at pictures of Oliver and Felicity's baby. Or almost being drunk under the table by Harry's daughter Jessie. Barry didn't even know how she had gotten an invite to boy's night out. Her being a girl and all. Or that to cap it all off Cisco had brought along the drinking formula and given it Jessie and the original speedster. He was pretty sure that all these things would make Iris more upset than anything else would.
"The last I checked Dig and Oliver both have had kids," Iris said, raising an eyebrow. "Manly stuff didn't happen to include looking at pictures of those kids, did it?"
"Uh….um…." Barry raked a hand through his hair and sighed. "Yes. It did include that."
"So basically you and the guys were just hanging around a bar all night chatting?" Iris certainly did have a way of making boy's night out seem like a rather dull affair.
"We did other things too," Barry said, looking over at her. "Like we drove really fast. We got coffee at Jitters before going to the bar. We also…."
"Barry, not the point," Iris said, stopping him mid-tirade. "The point is we have to figure out if our house has been broken into or if you just forgot to close the window."
Barry raced through the house to make sure that there was no one besides himself and Iris in the house. In his haste, he didn't happen to notice the moving pile of blankets on the couch that was mumbling in Spanish.
He finished his search of the house twice and walked towards the couch. Not looking before he sat down on it. Then there was an uproar of noise and flailing of arms. Barry could hear Iris padding down the stairs quickly to make sure he was alright.
"Barry, what's….." She stopped mid-sentence and stared at the sight in front of her. Her husband was on the floor in his boxers tangled up with a very confused clothed Cisco. A Cisco that looked really hungover. "Barry, get off of Cisco and get him some water and an aspirin."
She then padded upstairs to get changed. Maybe Cisco could help Barry find out who had broken into the house last night?
"Cisco," Barry said, looking towards the stairs where Iris had just disappeared, "do you remember what happened last night?"
"You don't remember?" Cisco asked, holding his head as he followed Barry out to the kitchen.
"No. It's all a blur."
"Like when you run?"
"Sort of."
"Cool!"
"Not cool, Cisco. I have to figure out if someone broke into my house or not."
"Why would you think that someone broke into your house, Barry? That's crazy. Who would break into The Flash's house?"
"What aren't you telling me?"
"Let's just say that Caitlyn's new drinking formula for you and Jessie worked a little too well. If you know what I mean?"
"I was drunk."
"Both of you were. You were both drunker than me and I was pretty wasted from the feel of this hangover. We decided to call an end to things when you and Jessie decided it would be a good idea to race around the world."
"How did I get back here? I don't exactly remember that part."
"Easy," Cisco said, motioning towards a note in Oliver's neat scrawl. "Oliver was the only one who didn't get wasted and drove us all home. Except I decided to crash here. I'm pretty sure I told you that and you said that it would be alright."
"So you're telling me no one broke into the house last night?"
"Nope. No one broke in."
"How did I get in bed then?"
"Oliver and Dig took you upstairs and put you to bed. You don't remember any of this at all, do you?"
Barry shook his head.
"I'll have to let Caitlyn know that this formula works better than the original," Cisco said, groaning as he accepted the aspirin from Barry and the water.
"So, you forgot to close the window last night," Iris said, standing in the doorway with her arms folded over her chest and a not too surprised smirk on her face.
"Apparently," Barry said, shrugging his shoulder and looking to Cisco for help.
"Now that that case is closed I'm going to start cooking breakfast," Iris said, walking over to the stove. "You two go sit on the couch drinking your waters until I tell you food is ready, alright?"
Both of the boys nodding knowing better than to argue with Iris. They walked out to the living room and flipped on the tv.
I hope you all enjoyed Boy's Night Out (Or How Someone Forgot to Shut the Window) as much as I enjoyed writing it.
