Chapter 9: Beasts Unleashed
AT THE BEACH
It has been a couple of hours since the battle with Ranamon and everyone was busy looking for the Toucanmon all over the beach, Tenshimon was currently resting and keeping Merigold busy with Bokomon and Neemon beside her. Angelomon was helping Takuya and Koji to look through the forest while Mikomon was further down the beach trying to find the bird's aura's.
A yell made Tenshimon look up to see JP running down the beach with a crab grabbing onto his behind with Teresa and Adam chasing him trying to help him, Merigold giggled at the scene making Tenshimon shake her head.
She looks down at the two digimon beside her just in time to see Neemon grab and pull Bokomon's waistband back saying "Toucanmon!"
Bokomon looks at him before yelling "They're not in my pants dorkus! You're going to be in big trouble if the egg got cold,"
"You know you really are a good mommy," Neemon said making Bokomon nod.
"Thanks, I...Oh, hush!" Bokomon said blushing a bit as Tenshimon chuckles.
A few minutes later everyone gathers around to report their findings.
"It's no use we'll never find them," Takuya said with a sigh.
"Mikomon?" Angelomon asked making the Miko shake her head.
"I sensed them for a brief moment but they were gone when I got there," Mikomon said.
"JP, how's your, uh, you know?" Adam asked the sulking JP sitting on the floor.
"I don't wanna talk about it," JP said making Teresa pat his back.
"Hey, don't worry about it, I bet we'll find the D-Tectors real soon," Zoe said having noticed down JP looked making the boy look at her.
"Huh? What were you saying Z?" JP asked looking up at Zoe who blinks and held her hips.
"JP, weren't you thinking about your D-tector?" Zoe asked concerned.
JP blinks before looking down, unsure of how to say what was on his mind but decided to bite the bullet, he just hoped he didn't get slapped.
"Oh, well, I was wondering if you'd be like that," JP said glancing at Zoe and Teresa.
"Huh, be like what?" Teresa asked confused.
JP had a flashback of Calmaramon and shivers a bit saying "Like Calmaramon,"
Takuya suddenly sat up looking around asking "Calmaramon! Where?"
"Don't worry, she's nowhere nearby," Angelomon said leaning against the wall while Mikomon sat on the roof.
"I can only sense small digimon nearby," Mikomon said making Takuya sigh and relax while Zoe gained a not pleased look on her face, Teresa just sighs and held her knees from her spot next to JP.
"I was just wondering if you'd be scary like that, you know? Like when you got your beast spirit and all that," JP said looking at the sand.
"Don't think about it," Tenshimon said in warning as Angelomon face-palmed when Bokomon, Takuya, Adam, Koji, and Neemon all began thinking about it.
Zoe then growls yelling "Stop that! I can't believe you guys would think something like that! I'm nothing like her!"
Zoe crossed her arms as Teresa gave a nervous chuckle, Mikomon shook her head as Angelomon kept his mouth shut.
"Of course!" Neemon said not sounding too enthusiastic in his wording.
"Hey! Say that like you mean it!" Zoe said as she went over and snapped Neemon's pants making him yelp.
"Auntie Zoe mad," Merigold said watching the lilac-wearing girl fume.
"That she is," Tenshimon said petting her daughter's head.
"He's not saying your evil or anything, just that beast spirits are hard to control," Takuya said speaking from his own experience with Koji nodding behind him.
"Yes, remember what happened with Takuya?" Bokomon said making the fore warrior wince a bit.
"I'll always be a cool and beautiful girl digimon, that I know," Zoe said confidently.
"Females are known to have better bodily control, take moms, for example, they always know what to do," Angelomon said making the boys look at him.
"That kind of makes sense, Daisuke is a mom now and she didn't raise the Seraphimon's castle to the ground with her beast spirit," Koji said making everyone nod.
Mikomon chuckles before gasping as she heard the sound of wings and sensed four auras, looking up she saw the birds they were looking for, she growls standing up getting everyone's attention.
"The Toucanmon, they're flying away!" Mikomon said making everyone get up.
"Where are they going?" Adam asked watching as the birds made their way to a nearby island.
"Their landing over there!" Teresa said as Angelomon spread his wings and took to the sky.
"Don't let them get away," Takuya said running to the water.
"I'll scout the waters, see if it's safe for your guys to swim over," Angelomon said he would fly over himself but he was wary of the dangers on the island, plus the birds would have landed everywhere and he could only search the island so much by himself.
Down below, Zoe and Takuya were about to start swimming when Takuya suddenly took a nose dive into the ocean, Zoe stops and turns to face the warrior of fire.
"Takuya?" Zoe questioned confused.
Takuya's head pops up and spits out seawater, he looks to see what he caught his foot on only to see clawed arms holding his foot. He follows them up as another head pops up from the water, this digimon looked like a seal of some kind. The digimon gave a small giggle as Takuya watched it with a bewildered expression.
"What the heck is that?" Takuya asked.
"That's Gomamon," Gomamon said making Takuya huff.
"Well, whoever you are, let go of my foot okay?" Takuya said pulling his foot free.
"Sorry but we had to stop you in time," Gomamon said as more of the seal digimon appeared around Zoe and Takuya, all saying various greetings.
"Yes, hi, what are these things anyway?" Takuya asked looking around at them all.
"Gomamon are cute and curious but if you get them mad they won't hesitate to attack, then again, what does around here?" Bokomon explained with an eye roll making Mikomon chuckle.
Tenshimon walked over and set Merigold down so she could greet the seals, the warrior of miracles was not flying because of her injured wing, if she flew now it might make the injury worse.
"How cute!" Zoe squeals as she leans down and picked up one of the Gomamon to hug them.
"Tough girls," JP said sarcastically to Adam who chuckles, both went quiet as Mikomon clears her throat beside them.
Later after everyone calms down some of the Gomamon crawls onto the beach as Takuya dries off, Merigold was playing with one of the Gomamon near the water while Tenshimon and Mikomon sat on the sand.
"We wouldn't be very good friends if we let you go out there, the water looks so cuddly and inviting but really it's very dangerous," A Gomamon said at the front of the group.
"What do you mean by that?" Adam asked.
"Just look, all that foam by the island is caused by a whole bunch of whirlpools," Gomamon said as everyone looks over at the island.
"Whirlpools?" Takuya asked not liking the sound of that.
"Don't worry, we're safe here but if you get too close they'll suck you in and never spit you out, and even if you could get past them you'll get slammed into the cliffs that surround the only beach you can land on," Gomamon said as Tenshimon saw someone flying over.
"Angelomon is back," Tenshimon said making everyone look up at the male angel as he came into speaking distance.
"So?" Mikomon asked her brother.
"They're resting on the island, not sure for how long, they landed in a small area where I couldn't land," Angelomon said sounding a bit annoyed.
"Did you see whirlpools?" JP asked making Angelomon nod.
"A lot of them," Angelomon said as he lands and met the Gomamon.
"How do you know so much about the island?" Teresa asked watching as some of the Gomamon became sad.
"We know so much about it because we used to live there," Gomamon said making Takuya look at them.
"So is there some kind of secret way to get there or something?" He asked.
"No, I wish there were," Gomamon said sadly making Zoe frown at their sad faces.
"You can't get home?" She asked as Merigold came over and hugged her mother who picked her up and held her close.
"That's right, everything used to be so wonderful here, then one day when we went out to play and get some food there was a big earthquake, that's when the whirlpools started, we were cut off from our island, we haven't been able to get home since," Gomamon explains looking deeply homesick.
"I'd be willing to bet that the earthquake happened when the destruction of the digital world began, ha, it seems there is no place where Cherubimon's evil touch hasn't hurt," Bokomon said as Tenshimon shook her head.
"One's greed can lead to others suffering," Tenshimon said as Mikomon nodded.
"So you're saying there's no way to get across huh?" Koji asked while JP who had been thinking during the talk suddenly snaps his fingers making everyone look at him.
"Maybe we'll be able to build a raft halfway there and then have Angelomon and Mikomon take us over the whirlpools," JP said making everyone share a look before nodding.
"That sounds like a really good idea, we can also get the Gomamon home as well, nice going JP," Angelomon said with a smirk making the older boy grin as the Gomamon perk up at hearing this.
"So, let's get a large raft, we'll need one big enough for everyone plus Tenshimon and Mikomon," Koji said as JP picked up a nearby stick and began drawing a quick diagram and list of items.
"So, let's get operation raft going!" Adam cheers making everyone else cheer as the Gomamon's yell in joy.
AN HOUR LATER
Mikomon smiled as she finished tying off the last rope on the raft, it had taken a lot of trees, rope, and some fabrics, plus two barrels for two palm trees to be placed in for the fabric sails to go between but they had a raft big enough for everyone to sit and stand on.
"All done!" Mikomon said getting up and dusting her hands off.
"Let's load up," Takuya said with a grin as everyone took their place on the raft.
Tenshimon sat near the back to help Koji steer the raft with Merigold sitting inside one of the barrels while Teresa was in the other one, Koji was at the back to steer the raft, Takuya was near the middle with Mikomon, JP was near Koji, Zoe was by one of the sails and Adam was by Merigold's barrel. Angelomon took to the sky as the raft entered the ocean and began to sail.
"This is so cool," Adam said with a grin as he looks around.
After 10 minutes with a strong wind, the raft arrived at the island, luckily they managed to stop before hitting the line of whirlpools.
"The Gomamon sure wasn't kidding, huh?" Koji said as he looked at the raging water.
"They said it was bad, not horrible!" JP said a bit scared as Mikomon's senses went off.
'This feeling, it feels like a spirit, could one be nearby?' Mikomon thought as she looked around.
"There must be something at the bottom of the sea that's causing all this," Bokomon said as Angelomon flew overhead.
"Well, maybe we can find it and fix it!" Takuya said.
Angelomon then saw the water pick up, he gasped as a huge wave appeared near the raft and soon grew in size.
"Guy's lookout! Tidal wave!" Angelomon yelled in warning.
Everyone looks over only to yell at the sight of the huge wave, Mikomon quickly jumps into action as she summons her staff and held it in front of her.
"Heaven's barrier!" She yelled as a barrier appears around the raft and Gomamon.
Just in time too as the water crashed down, Angelomon watched on tense, he then relaxed and let out a sigh of relief as the raft re-appears intact and everyone was safe.
Then two pillars of water shot into the air followed by a third, Angelomon growls as on the third pillar of water stood Ranamon who was smirking.
"Hi, there cutie pies!" Ranamon said cheekily with a wave.
"Oh great, now what do we do," Takuya asked as Merigold whimpers ducking down into the barrel to hide as Tenshimon summons her bow and arrows while Mikomon tensed up.
"If ya'll have any last wishes now would be the perfect time to make them, don't ya think?" Ranamon said.
"We don't need them!" Zoe said as she pulled her D-tector out.
"Zoe! Don't be too rash," JP said worried as the girl spirit evolves into Kazemon.
"Angelomon! Help her! We'll do what we can," Tenshimon said making her brother nod and fly over to assist the warrior of wind.
Kazemon growls as she cut through another blast of water, she knew she was at a disadvantage, she was out on open water. Ranamon was annoying but she was no joke when in her element, Kazemon turns in time to see Angelomon block a water tunnel aimed at her from below.
"Oi! Stay out of this, this is between girls!" Ranamon yelled as she moved her hand making a pillar of water shoot up and grab the warrior of Faith.
The water wrapped around him and pulled him down under the water below.
"Uncle!" Merigold yelled her eyes going wide as Tenshimon growls going to aim her bow at Ranamon but was forced to fire at some attacks getting too close to the raft and shield Mikomon set up.
"Angelomon! Oh, please be okay," Adam said biting his lip as Ranamon decided she had enough fun playing with Kazemon.
"Time to put you outta your misery suga," Ranamon said as she clicks her fingers making dark rain clouds appear overhead.
"Draining rain!" Ranamon yelled as Kazemon gasped, a huge amount of rain fell upon her.
Kazemon growls as she felt the draining effects hit her hard, due to the watery environment the attack was doubled in strength! Kazemon soon lost her strength and fell down into the water and not just any spot in the water, she fell directly into one of the whirlpools.
"No! Kazemon!" Teresa yelled as Takuya growls at the sight.
"Not good!" Takuya said as everyone waited with bated breath to see what would happen next.
UNDER THE WATER
As Kazemon sunk into the water she forced her eyes open to see the raging water around her, she glanced to the side to see Angelomon under the water, he was glowing, he seemed to be focusing on something and by the look on his face, he looked like he was having a mental battle or something. To Kazemon it looked like he was meditating to try and hold his breath for as long as possible.
Kazemon growls as she felt herself return to being human, now back as Zoe she held her breath.
'No! This can't happen! I have to protect the others and help Angelomon before he drowns!' Zoe thought when a sudden light made her eyes open.
The raging water was gone, instead, all she could feel was an inviting breeze, like when she got her spirit. She looked to see lights around her that protected her from the water, the lights were coming from a clam on some rocky floor, it opens up to show a spirit! Not just any spirit, her beast spirit. Smiling Zoe felt like she was welcoming something home as she held out her D-tector to the beast spirit, it went inside without delay. Zoe smiled holding her D-tector to her chest and then looked over to where Angelomon was, she gasped as she saw data surrounded him before fading to show his beast spirit.
"Amazing, right! Let's do this!" Zoe said as she focused and floated back up to the surface.
ABOVE THE WATER
"Zoe! Davis!" JP yelled looking ready to dive into the water but was held back by Koji.
"Gnh, my barrier won't last much longer!" Mikomon yelled as the water kept hitting the barrier.
"She's making more than I can shoot down," Tenshimon said as she held up her arms and used her psychic powers to try and reinforce the barrier as cracks appeared across it.
"Hehhehehe, just how much longer do ya'll think you will last? Just give up already," Ranamon said with a smirk as she went to summon another draining rain.
That's when Teresa noticed something, looking over she saw the whirlpools slowly vanishing!
"Look! The whirlpools are going away!" Teresa yelled making the gang look over as the whirlpools vanished.
"It's what!? Now how in the world did that happen?" Ranamon said spotting her attacks to look for herself.
Only to yell as a much bigger pillar of water shot up nearly hitting Ranamon who leaps back in shock, Tenshimon sighs in relief as the water vanished to show Zoe flying in the air with the wind protecting her.
"Yeah! It's Auntie Windy!" Merigold yelled as she cheers making Adam stiffen a chuckle at the name Merigold just said.
"Yes! I'm back and I brought a little friend!" Zoe said holding out her D-Tector as the screen glows and she was cocooned in data.
INSIDE THE DATA
Zoe spun around and held out her hand which was surrounded by multiple rings of data, she moves her D-tector before slamming it against the rings and scanning them.
"Execute! Beast spirit evolution!" Zoe yelled as the data flys around her, while behind her a totem appears of a winged woman as feathers flew from it and towards Zoe.
Zoe gave a loud roar as her body glows violet, her body grew in size as her chest and butt filled out, her waist curved as her hair shortened. Her body was now very mature as her five-finger hands morphed and changed into three fingers, her feet turned into long three toed-claws. Her head bends forward as a pair of wings emerged while from her back came two beautiful wings, then glowing feathers wrapped around her body forming armor as a mask forms on her lower face and neck, a scarf wraps around her neck as the light fades from her body to show golden tanned skin, blue hair, and her eyes open to show sky blue eyes as two black stripe marks appeared on her cheeks hidden by the mask.
She spins in the air once before landing in a tunnel of wind that vanished as she yelled "Zephyrmon!"
OUTSIDE THE DATA
Everyone gasped in awe as the data vanished to show the beautiful beast digimon, Mikomon smiled as her barrier got the chance to repair itself, Tenshimon lowers her arms as she let herself regain her energy.
"Who is that?" Takuya asked amazed.
"That is Zephyrmon, behold the legendary warrior of wind," Bokomon said before looking around, where was Angelomon?
"Oh my! Why!? You're pretty! Your beast spirit made you pretty!" Ranamon yelled before looking the new digimon over.
"Hm, well! Of course, it's not like you're prettier than me! I mean that's not even possible, but just because you are prettier than me doesn't mean anything you got it! Do you have adoring fans all over the world who worship you? I don't think so!" Ranamon said all but ranting as Zephyrmon watched on with an amused look in her eyes.
"You know something, for a legendary warrior of water you sure give off a lot of hot air," Zephyrmon said her voice smooth and mature.
Ranamon growls looking pissed off as she shakes with rage saying "That does it!"
But Zephyrmon wasn't done she glanced down as a dark shadow graced the water's surface below, she looked back at Ramamon who was steaming in anger.
"Also, aren't you forgetting about someone?" Zephyrmon said making Ranamon pause and blink in confusion.
"Forgetting someone?" Ranamon said before it seemed to hit her as she yells looking down in time to see something burst from the water.
That being the beast spirit of Angelomon, the beast was a huge dragon, twice as large as Petaldramon, golden scales glinting in the sunlight as the water fell from his body, the golden armor on his chest and legs shined as he moves in a circle getting higher and higher into the air. He then turns to face Ranamon, silver eyes glowing with power as he growls.
"Whoa! That's a big digimon!" Adam yelled as he steps back on reflex.
"No kidding," Koji said amazed as the new digimon roars.
"At least Davis is okay," Mikomon said as Tenshimon nods.
"He seems to be in control, maybe his meditation helped him to gain that," Tenshimon said as Bokomon pulls out his book.
"Here we go! His name is Ryumon, the beast of Faith, oh my, he's got quite the powerful bite so stay away from those jaws," Bokomon said making Neemon nod.
"Noted, but he won't have problems eating," Neemon said making Bokomon face-palm at his words.
"Ah! No messing around then!" Ranamon said only to jump into the water to avoid a slash of wind from Zephyrmon.
"Ranamon slide evolution! Calmaramon!" Ranamon said as she became her beast self.
She shot out of the water and sat on top of it with a crackle as Ryumon flew overhead looking for a chance to attack, Zephyermon hums as she looked at Tenshimon and gave a small gesture with her head wings making the female angel catch on and use her psychic powers.
{Tenshimon, tell Ryumon to strike when I've got Calmaramon distracted} Zephermon said mentally making Tenshimon nod and relay the message to her brother.
The dragon digimon gave a small roar as he moves to be vertical in the air, his mouth opens as he began to gather his energy into a strong attack for the right moment.
He watched and waited, he growls when Calmaramon tried to attack the raft but an arrow from Tenshimon stopped her second attempt. Then he saw his chance as Zephyrmon made Calmaramon turn around exposing her back to him. He took aim and let loose.
"Dragon's breath!" Ryumon roars as he let loose a stream of blue fire-like energy right at Calamaramon making her scream as it hit her and sent her into the water.
"Ugh! That was a dirty move!" Calmaramon said climbing on her own body out of the water and spun around to glare at the warrior of faith only to show off her ruined make-up.
All of the boys on the raft yelled in fear at the sight, Merigold covered her eyes as Tenshimon winced while Teresa ducked down in her barrel as Mikomon sighed in disappointment.
Calmaramon blinks before getting angry and jumping into the air to use her move, titanic tempest.
Only when she started to spin she began to lose control once more, Mikomon huffed and dropped her barrier as she watched the show.
"I'm gonna enjoy this," Zephyrmon said with a chuckle as Ryumon flew down.
"Still no control I see," Ryumon said his voice deep and with a growl to it.
They watched as Calmaramon vanished into the distance.
"What was that?" JP asked bemused.
"Something still hasn't got full control yet," Mikomon said as she puts her staff away.
"Hey, how are they controlling themselves?" Takuya asked looking between the two beasts as Ryumon slide evolves back to Angelomon.
"Later Takuya, now, let's get everyone back to that island," Zephyrmon said as she moves and flaps her wings making a gust of wind fill the sails and get the raft moving.
ON THE ISLAND
Tenshimon watched with a smile as the Gomamon were reunited, she looked at Merigold in her arms who smiled and wagged her tail at the sight.
"Tenshimon," Angelomon said as he walks over while Zoe celebrated getting her beast spirit in the background with the group.
"How are you feeling?" Tenshimon asked making her brother shrug.
"A little tired but doing okay," Angelomon said as he reached up to rub his neck.
"Hey, did you guys see the Toucanmon?" Koji asked making the two angels and one little dragon look over, they shared a look before walking over.
"They're gone, they all left for the Autumn leaf fair," A Gomamon said making the group's good mood drop slightly.
"The what?" Takuya asked as Bokomon came over with his book out.
"It's a traders market on the continent north of here," Bokomon said.
"We'll be able to re-stock our supplies there while finding the Toucanmon," Mikomon said making her siblings nod.
"Well, let's go then!" Takuya said making everyone nod.
"But how are we gonna get there?" Adam asked making JP sigh and hold his head.
"Why is nothing ever easy?" JP asked.
Merigold giggled at this before looking up at the sky with a smile, she couldn't wait for more fun adventures!
