Chapter 10: Bizarre Bazaar
ON THE RAFT
Angelomon grunts as he sat on the raft holding onto the floor as the raft sped along a high-speed river of water Bokomon had suggested they take to make things quicker, which was good since they were making up for the lost time.
"This is working great! We should get to that Autumn leaf fair thingy in no time," Takuya said his goggles over his eyes since the wind was pretty hard.
"Let's hope so," Bokomon said as he sat by Tenshimon.
Merigold was currently inside her barrel enjoying the ride while Mikomon was sitting next to her, the fox maiden looked like she was in need of a hairbrush with how much her hair was flying everywhere. Tenshimon was dreading doing her own hair later, Angelomon wasn't even thinking about his hair. He was too busy holding on for dear life, he didn't mind big boats but small boats and rafts were another thing.
"Let's also hope the Toucanmon are there," Teresa said making Adam nod as he glanced to the side and saw Neemon fast sleep on the raft floor.
"How can anyone sleep at a time like this? How did he even do that?" Adam asked looking at Neemon.
"It's Neemon, he does things like this," Teresa said with a sigh.
Soon the river reached a large body of water, Merigold squeals at the sudden cold wind and leaps out of her barrel to go and hide in her mother's embrace. Tenshimon chuckles as she wrapped her wings around herself and Merigold, it was rather cold. She then pulled Bokomon onto her lap to him and Seraphimon's egg warm.
"Man, we're cooking along now!" Takuya said only to shiver moments later.
"Well maybe cooking isn't really the right word," Takuya said shivering but not as badly as Zoe was since his digimon self was mainly fire, so his internal temperature was higher than the others.
"Y-yeah, I can't feel my fingers," Zoe shivers only to blink a few minutes later as wings wrapped around her.
She looks up at Angelomon who smiled and sat behind Zoe, using his body heat to keep her warm, she smiled and thanked him for it. JP found himself being warmed up by one of Mikomon's talismans, Adam got one too to keep warm. Koji found himself leaning against Takuya while being thankful the other boy was too distracted by the cold to notice and Teresa politely declined the warming talisman, since her digimon self was ice she found the cold rather inviting.
Then Teresa noticed Neemon still asleep.
"Ah! Neemon, wake up! You can't sleep in the cold you'll freeze to death!" Teresa said making the snot bubble on Neemon's face pop and he sat up yelling in alarm making everyone sigh at him, at least he was awake now.
"Hey, look at that," Bokomon said making everyone look forward.
"Um, what are we looking at?" JP asked only to see land covered in white snow ahead.
"Land ahead!" Bokomon yelled as the raft left the water and went on the land still going at fast speeds.
"That was better than I thought it would be, but where's that Autumn fair thing?" Takuya asked making Bokomon pull his book out.
"It should be just up ahead," Bokomon said as Adam blinks at him.
'What kind of waistband does he have and where can I get one?' Adam thought looking at the pink band around Bokomon's waist.
"Well, there is something ahead," Zoe said worried making everyone look only to see a fast-approaching ledge!
"But it doesn't look very fair!" Zoe yelled making everyone else yell.
"Quick, everyone hold onto something so we don't fall off the raft!" Koji yelled making everyone hunched down and hold the floor.
The raft went over the edge and lost the sails in the process, it flew down the slope, then Teresa saw something up ahead, she went wide-eyed as she saw that it was a snowman, right in their way!
"Look out snowman!" Teresa yelled but it came too late as the raft collided with the large snowman and broke apart sending everyone flying.
"Now that's more what I was expecting," Takuya groans as he lay on the ground.
"Ugh," Tenshimon groans as she sat up rubbing her head, Merigold huffs as she uncurls herself from her mother's waist and got down.
"Hey, it's warm here," Koji said as he noticed the grass and new warmth in the air.
"Looks like we found the fair," Mikomon said getting up and dusting herself off, as Angelomon put his helmet straight.
Before the group was the source of the heat, a huge boiler kept the area warm, various stalls and buildings were everywhere, digimon filled the fair of all shapes and sizes. Once the group got themselves together they went to the edge of the fairground.
"Oh, how I despise crowds," Bokomon said looking around.
"Even if the Toucanmon are here it will be like finding the tiniest needle in a million haystacks," Zoe said eying a few stalls.
"There's too many aura's here, what a pain," Mikomon said with a huff.
"Let's split up and look for the Toucanmon, also try and get supplies while here," Tenshimon said making the group nod.
"Let's do it!" Takuya said and with that, the group splits up.
Mikomon went to look for some supplies while Tenshimon decided to check out a few stores near the front for some information and make her way inward. Angelomon decided to wander around and listen out for anything interesting, he did pause by a building that sold instruments, and one did catch his eyes, a violin. He did want to try that in school but never got the courage to get up and play it, he would try whenever he returned home. Shaking his head Angelomon kept walking and ended up helping a Lilymon with her flower stall, in return she gave him a beautiful purple rose in return.
Then just as Angelomon took a corner he found himself bumping into someone, the person he bumped into was also going around the corner and gave a small yell as they stumble a bit and nearly tripped backward. Angelomon gasped and out of reflex reached out and grabbed the digimon he bumped into, he grabbed an armored arm.
He blinks and took in the digimon before him, covered in armor in both light pink and dark pink shades, yellow details, with yellow ribbons on her chest armor, it was female judging by her slender waist and slightly raised chest armor and by her voice when she yelled. Her helmet had yellow wing decorations on it, her helmet bore no features but Angelomon could feel the eyes looking at him, her right arm had a shield on it with a pink gem on it and a golden cross around the gem. In Angelomon's opinion, she was graceful and beautiful, he felt his heart race as he shook his head and helps right the digimon before releasing her arm.
"My apologies looks like we both took the corner at the wrong time," Angelomon said as the female digimon nodded.
"It is fine, accidents happen," She said looking Angelomon over.
"Ah, I'm Angelomon, you, my lady?" Angelomon asked being polite but he found himself feeling funny, why did he want to impress her? He should ask Bokomon later if it was a digimon thing.
The female digimon gave a small chuckle saying "Charming aren't you, I'm Crusadermon, nice to meet you,"
"Crusadermon? A graceful name," Angelomon said as he smiled, unknown to him Crusadermon blushed under her helmet at his words.
However, before she could say anything Angelomon heard his name being called making him glance behind to see Koji waving him over. He must have found something, sighing Angelomon looks back at Crusadermon and then at his purple rose. Getting an idea he held up the rose and focused on his energy, he grins as the rose went from organic to crystal, the stem turning into green crystals while the head became purple crystals.
"Here, a lovely rose for a beautiful lady," Angelomon said as he hands the rose over and gave a small bow before quickly leaving to hide the blush growing on his cheeks, why did he say that!?
Crusadermon herself was blushing as she looks at the rose given to her, she looked up at the angelic digimon as he vanished into the crowd.
"Angelomon? That name, as in the warrior of Faith? Could that really be him?" Crusadermon mutters before shaking her head and leaving to go and find her friend in the fair.
Meanwhile, Tenshimon was getting some supplies, she ended up talking with a fellow mother digimon who was cooing at how adorable Merigold was and how much of a good job Tenshimon was doing making the angel blush, unseen by them Merigold got distracted by a flash of something and decided to follow it. She giggled darting through large digimon legs and running past some smaller digimon, she came to a stop when she saw the thing she was chasing was gone making her pout.
She then noticed she was alone, she instantly felt uneasy and began looking around for her mother or one of her many aunts and uncles only to see unknown digimon, she felt tears sting her eyes as she looked around for someone to help her.
She quickly spotted a tall digimon, he was mainly in gold armor with a few colors here and there, he had two swords on his hips and a blue cape. He looked nice and shiny, Merigold ran over and grabs the mon's cape to tug it. The digimon jolts and looks around, he then looks down to see Merigold at his feet.
Grademon was having a normal afternoon, he had come to the fair to trade some items he had collected in his travels, he had met a few old friends and got some new items. He was looking at some food items when he felt a tug on his cape, blinking he looks around but saw no one, he felt a tug again and looked down this time only to see a female Veemon.
She was different that much was true at first glance, she was a little bit smaller than a regular Veemon letting him know she was young, still young enough not to be away from her parent or guardian. Her forehead marking was also different along with her eye color, golden eyes, didn't Veemon usually have red eyes? He blinks and knelt down to her level, she looked ready to cry.
"Hey, little one, what's wrong? Are you lost?" Grademon asked making the Veemon nod and sniff.
"Lost, got separated from Mama," Veemon said sadly making Grademon's heart melt, he nods and gently picked the young digimon up.
"Don't worry, we'll find your Mama, what does she look like?" Grademon asked as he stood to his full height.
"Mama has pretty white wings, armor, and the same mark on my forehead!" Veemon said pointing at her head.
"I see," Grademon said as he began walking.
He kept an eye out for winged digimon, he eliminates the winged male digimon, those without white wings and armor. He did pause when the young digimon saw an Angewomon but pouted at it not being her Mama, he was about to take another route when he heard the yelling of a female digimon.
"Vee! Where are you?!" Veemon perked up at the voice.
"Mama! Over here! I'm here!" Veemon yells waving her arms making Grademon turn around to see a digimon run over and his breath caught in his throat.
She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, her upper face hidden by a helmet, her body toned and showed she was a fighter. Her armor looked like it could take a beating, her wings looked powerful. She looked similar to an Angewomon but the whole feel and look of her just screamed warrior, she looked relieved as she saw the Veemon.
"There you are! My baby," She said as Grademon shook his head and passed the Veemon over to her, the two hug making Grademon feel proud that he helped reunite them.
"Thank you so much, I was so worried when I turned around and saw her gone," The angel said turning to him.
"It was no problem, I couldn't leave her alone in a place this big," Grademon said before remembering his manners.
"Ah, I'm Grademon, nice to meet you?" He said giving a small bow at the waist making the angel chuckle.
"I'm Tenshimon, this is my daughter," Tenshimon said making Grademon's eyes widen.
Tenshimon? As in the warrior of miracles Tenshimon?! No wonder she seemed like a warrior, she was one! So the rumors he had heard of the legendary warrior's return were true then, he felt his cheeks warm, they didn't lie about some of the warrior's beauty as well. Shaking his head he decided to ask if it was true that some of the warriors were in fact, humans.
"Forgive me for asking but I heard that the warriors were humans turning into digimon?" Grademon asked making Tenshimon nod.
"That's true, I myself am a human but right now I'm stuck as a digimon due to a problem," Tenshimon said as she held Merigold close.
"Problem? May I help in any way?" Grademon asked.
Tenshimon looked around saying "Hm, best not to speak out in the open, follow me,"
Grademon nods as he followed the female warrior over to a quiet area of the fair, he ended up meeting Angelomon, who was Tenshimon's brother and the warrior of Faith. The two explained how they had their D-tectors stolen by some Toucanmon while taking the chance to relax for once, how they had yet to change back to being human for fear of something bad happening. When Grademon asked how her daughter was born Angelomon had flushed while Tenshimon giggled and told him of the events at Celesta village, Grademon was amazed by everything.
"Wait, so the warriors under Cherubimon's command are humans as well?" Grademon asked making Angelomon nod.
"Yes, we theorized that he captured the warriors meant to be the ones of steel, water, nature, earth, and darkness to put them under his control," Tenshimon said they had talked about this while on the raft.
When the talk of other humans came up Adam seemed to remember something because he kept glancing at Koji every now and then, as if debating on something, whatever it was he decided to wait it must have been a touchy subject if he didn't share it while on the raft.
"How low can Cherubimon go? Ha, that settles it then, I will help you, I cannot just sit idly by while my home is in danger," Grademon said making the two angels share a look.
"Are you sure? This is not your regular battles, the warriors are no jokes," Angelomon said a bit uneasy but Grademon looked strong, maybe he could help them.
"I'm sure, besides if I can't help in battles I can at least protect your daughter from getting hurt," Grademon said making Tenshimon smile and nod.
"That will put me at ease in battles, thank you Grademon, and welcome to the team," Tenshimon said holding out her hand.
"Huh?" Grademon blinks looking at her hand.
"Hahaha, it's a handshake, a human custom of welcoming someone or to seal a deal between adults or something like that," Tenshimon said making Grademon nod.
"I see, how funny humans are," Grademon said as he reached up and took Tenshimon's hand.
A small shock went through their hands but neither reacted, keeping it hidden as they shook twice before letting go, Angelomon nods with a smirk only to jolt a moment later as a loud noise rang out, it sounded like something blew up.
"What was that?" Grademon asked looking around.
"I'll go look from the sky," Angelomon said as he jumps and shot into the sky while Tenshimon ran along the ground with Grademon, who found his arms full of Merigold who giggled at the fast speeds.
Tenshimon gasped as they arrived at the scene of what caused the noise, a store was demolished, broken items all over the place. The owner of the store was sat on the ground looking a bit ruffed up, a Datamon. Teresa was knelt in front of him as he held up her D-tector to her, he said something making Teresa smile and nod as Takuya and Koji held off the culprit of the damage, Petaldramon.
"The warrior of nature," Grademon said being mindful of his distance.
"Look out!" Tenshimon yelled as Petaldramon used his attack leaf cyclone but it went over Koji and Takuya's heads and hit another building.
Thankfully Mikomon arrived and blocked the rubble from hitting some digimon, she was quick on crowd control as Angelomon kept other digimon away.
A noise then made Tenshimon look over to see Teresa stand up with her D-tector glowing, she smiled watching as data surrounded her icy friend.
"Everyone! Incoming ice beast!" Tenshimon yelled making Koji and Takuya nod and run over to where Bokomon, Adam, Neemon, and Datamon were.
INSIDE THE DATA
Inside the data, Teresa smirks as she held out her hand making rings of data form, she then held both hands in front of her before pressing her D-tector against the rings and scanning them.
"Beast spirit evolution!" Teresa yelled as the data flew around her, behind her a totem of a sitting dragon in white and blue roars to life with ice and wind.
Teresa gave a yell as her body glows ice blue as it grew and morphed until it was no longer human, she now stood on four limbs. A tail grew from the base of her spine and ended in an ice clubbed tip, her front feet ended with four sharp ice claws and her back feet had three ice claws. Her head grew sharp horns made of ice with a smaller horn taking place on the nose of her snout, her underbelly from her jaw down to the base of her tail gained scales while fur grew across the rest of her body.
Her body then arched as two wings made of ice grew from her back, then ice screw across her front and back limbs, along the edges of her wings, head, neck, and chest before shattering to show dark silver armor as sharp fangs clamped down with a growl. The ice blue glow left her body to show that her fur was white and her scales were dark blue, her ice blue wings flapped once as her glowing ice-blue eyes snapped open as she flew into the air.
She lands on a platform and shot out a beam of ice before yelling "Shimomon!"
OUTSIDE THE DATA
Just as Petaldramon was about to take a bite out of Takuya and Koji the warrior of nature gave a yell as he was pulled back, the boys looked over only to see the dragon of ice with her jaw clamped down on Petaldramon's tail and dragging him away from them.
"Shimomon! The legendary beast warrior of ice!" Bokomon said looking at the large ice dragon who was a bit bigger than Petaldramon.
"So it really is true, humans have the power to turn into Digimon," Datamon said in awe at the sight.
Petaldramon got his tail free and charged at Shimomon, the ice dragon roars and met his charge with her own, the two collide trying to overpower the other.
"What a clash!" Koji said watching as Petaldramon tried to bite Shimomon's leg only for her tail to come around and hit him in the face.
Mikomon ran over to block some rubble from hitting the group, she was debating on if she should go to her own beast form and help when Shimomon yells out an attack.
"Avalance strike!" Shimomon yelled as her tail glows blue before swinging forward with great force and hit Petaldramon in the face sending him flying back.
"Nice hit!" Adam cheered as Petaldramon got up looking pissed off as he went onto his front legs.
"You are gonna regret that! Thorn jab!" Petaldramon said driving his tail into the ground making spikes of wood shoot out of the ground and at Shimomon, who roars in pain as the spikes stuck her in place and trapped her.
"Here, help out your friends!" Datamon said as he grabs the nearest D-tectors and threw them at Mikomon and Adam who caught their D-tectors.
"Finally, my turn to play," Adam said as his D-tector activates surrounding him in data as Mikomon grabs her own with a smirk.
"Time to evolve, slide evolution!" Mikomon yelled as data covers her.
Takuya and Koji watched as the data grew in size, the first to fade was Adam's, in his place was a tall male in brown, black, and cream clothing with armor mainly on his legs and lower arms, a beak styled helmet covered his upper face from view, his skin was tanned and he looked well built. His warrior symbol rested upon his knee armor, he gave a grin as cracked his knuckles.
"Wow! That's a real improvement from Grumblemon," Takuya said as Adam looks over.
"It's Chikyumon now," Chikyumon said with a smirk before looking at the data to his left as it vanished to show the beast of destiny.
In Mikomon's place was now a big fox digimon, a bit smaller than Petaldramon, with white fur across her body, she had nine tails tipped in red along with her pointed ears being tipped in red. Her sleek body had golden armor on her chest, hind legs, forelegs, and her forehead where her warrior mark rested on the armor piece. Around her shoulders, front legs wrapped a golden ribbon that flows in an unseen breeze, with decorations across it. Her eyes open to show golden eyes. Her tails moved as golden energy seemed to dance across her body and flake off her tail tips in flecks of golden light.
"That's Okorimon, the beast of destiny," Bokomon said as the two warriors leaped in to help their friend.
"Earth Ax!" Chikyumon yelled as he summons a double-sided battle-ax and cut at some of the wooden spikes.
"Foxfire!" Okorimon yelled opening her mouth and shooting out a big ball of blue fire at the rest of the wood making it burn away.
Shimomon growls as she broke free, she roars and shot at Petaldramon with a powerful flap of her wings and tackled the nature digimon up and out of the fairgrounds and onto the snowy grounds. She pushed the digimon back and took a deep breath, being in her element empowered her.
"And now, Frozen Dragon Breath!" She yelled as she opens her mouth and shot out a white beam of ice-colored fire.
It hit Petaldramon and pushed him away and onto his back, the attack also froze half his body and gave him frost burn as well, he yells as he was sent off into the distance as the sun began to set.
Shimomon gave a roar of victory before turning back to the fair, she wanted to go back and check on things but decided to enjoy being in her element for the moment.
Down below, Tenshimon helped to calm the local digimon down while Angelomon got everyone together to get their D-tectors back, Adam returned to being human-looking tired. JP sympathized and gave the youngest male some food to regain his strength, once everyone got their D-tectors back they thanked Datamon who blushed and told them it was no problem before going to sort out what he could salvage of his shop.
"Right, let's return to being human and let our digimon selves rest," Tenshimon said making her siblings nod and finally return to being human.
"Man, I've gotten used to seeing you three as digimon, I forgot how small you three are," Takuya said earning him an elbow to the gut from Koji.
"I feel small too, I liked being big," Davis said with a pout.
Grademon blinks at the sudden size difference while Merigold hugs her Mama, enjoying being around the same size again for bear hugs. Daisuke giggles as she hugged back while Sabrina yawns a bit and stretches, the male digimon couldn't help but notice how alike the three siblings looked. Well, this was his first time meeting triplets.
'So cute!' Grademon though he refused to squeal he had his pride after all.
"Everyone, this is Grademon, he wants to help us," Daisuke said as Grademon nods in greeting.
"Greetings, I hope we'll get along well," Grademon said.
"Wow, that's some armor," JP said as he looked the digimon over, as a human he came to Grademon's hips in height.
"Glad to have you on board, just make sure those swords don't knock anyone on the head," Takuya said as he eyed the sword sheathes.
"Don't worry, I won't hit anyone," Grademon said with a chuckle.
"Hey, is Shimomon still up there?" Zoe asked looking up at the snowy ridge.
"Maybe she's making snow angels?" Neemon said as the group made their way over.
Once they reached the top they were met with the sight of Shimomon taking a swim in an ice-cold lake, not even bothered in the slightest, it took a few tries to get her out of the water and change back to Teresa.
"Nice job in getting the D-tectors back Teresa," Takuya said making the girl smile.
"I'm just glad I didn't hurt anyone when I got my beast spirit," Teresa said making the group chuckle as Takuya sweatdrops and rubs his head.
"Why does everyone keep bringing that up?" Takuya said.
"Digidestined," A female voice said making the group gasp and pull their D-tectors out as the screen glows with Ophanimon's symbol.
"Ophanimon!" Takuya said as Grademon knelt down to listen in.
"Seraphimon turned into a Digiegg," Zoe said.
"Yes, I know," Ophanimon said sadly.
"Seraphimon is an egg now?" Grademon asked quietly making Sabrina nod and point at Bokomon's waist.
"Yeah, Bokomon is looking after his egg," She whispered making the ultimate level digimon nod.
"So what are we supposed to do about it?" Koji asked.
"Before I tell you, you must know that this is a crucial point, you can stop now or face the dangerous road ahead, will you accept the risk?" Ophanimon asked making everyone look at each other and nod.
"You better believe we will," Takuya said.
"You must be certain, all of you," Ophamimon said wanting to make sure.
"We are!" Davis said with a fist pump.
"I never been more certain in my whole life," Zoe said as Adam nods.
"Yeah, me too! Besides I owe Cherubimon a knuckle sandwich for what he did to me," Adam said.
With agreements from everyone, including Merigold and Grademon, Koji asked "So what do we do now, Ophanimon?"
"Head for the rose morning star and then," Ophanimon said only to be cut off as static took her symbol's place.
"What did you say? Ophanimon!" Koji asked but got no response.
Then the static vanished making the group frown, Neemon looks at Bokomon asking "What is a rose morning star?"
Bokomon looks around before spotting it, he points in the direction saying "That right there,"
Everyone looks over to see the sky off in the distance with a swirling mass of dark clouds in the shape of a rose, it sent a chill up their spines.
"A star? How are we supposed to get there?" JP asked looking displeased.
"We're not going to the star, we're going to what's beneath it," Bokomon said making JP deflate.
"All that way? It will take forever!" Adam said even if they turned into digimon it would still take days or even weeks to get there.
Zoe suddenly remembers something as she reached into her pocket and pulled out train tickets.
"Presto!" Zoe said with a grin.
"Those are?" Daisuke asked.
"These are trailmon tickets I won from that eating contest," Zoe explains while Takuya and Koji shared a look before turning a bit green.
"I still don't know where she put it all," Takuya mutters making Davis look at them in confusion.
"Way to go Zoe!" Teresa said.
Daisuke then looked at her siblings who nod as she steps forward and spoke.
"Before we set off I think it's best we do something very important," Daisuke said making everyone look at her.
"Important?" Adam asked making Daisuke smile, it was a smile that promised tiring days ahead.
"Why training of course! We have to expand our move sets and get an edge over the other warriors after all," Daisuke said.
Everyone, except Grademon, Merigold, Davis, and Sabrina, groaned in misery as Bokomon and Neemon watched on, wondering how this training would go and if anyone would be able to walk afterward from the sound of things.
