In this chapter, we have a small time-skip and into the dark lands, we go.
I do NOT own Digimon, just my Oc's and story idea.

Chapter 11: Dark Lands
Daisuke here! So after we got our D-Tectors back and talked with Ophanimon about going to the Rose Morning star I decided it was high time that our group got into some serious training.
It went well, we all learned new moves, some by accident in Takuya's case. He was about to shoot out some flames as BurningGreymon but Merigold ran in front of him making him clamp his mouth shut since he didn't want to hit her by accident, when he opened his mouth again he spewed out a huge cloud of smoke making it hard to see. Boy did everyone smell of smoke for a while! The new move got dubbed smokescreen by everyone.
We'll all getting to be more in tune with our elements and Adam got the chance to tame his Beast spirit which was a huge golden-yellow Griffen digimon in golden armor called Setchimon. He was awesome! (Look at my Wattpad account please for what he looks like)
During the training, Adam finally got to talk with Koji alone, whatever was said made Koji shocked and then upset for a while. After a day or two he finally told the rest of the group what Adam told him, he in fact, had a twin brother! One who might be one of Cherubimon's victims, this whole thing just got a lot more personal for Koji but we didn't know who his twin brother, called Koichi, was bonded to yet.
Soon our training came to an end and we got a Trailmon with the tickets Zoe won, everything went smoothly and we actually got to relax this time without any birds bothering us. Sadly the raid was cut short when we stopped in a town where a Trailmon race was taking place, we all had to get off. So we checked out the Trailmon race, in the end, my friends ended up racing after a BlackWereGarurumon and his companion Dogmon scared the other racers off. It was epic and a close call but Takuya won in the end with his Trailmon Worm.
Thanks to the race Takuya got a prize to do with Hamburger villager, Zoe who was hungry nearly dragged everyone there. Grademon was amazed at how she acted until he was told that females got worse when a certain time came around, anyway, when our group got to Hamburger village we found it a complete wreak! Turns out Petaldramon arrived and demanded the ultimate burger and kidnapped Mr. Burgermon leaving his wife and kids in distress.
So we decided to help the family, only for Takuya and Koji to get carried away with making burgers, thankfully Zoe, Teresa, JP, and Adam managed to save Mr. Bugermon while Grademon and Adam caused a distraction. While my siblings and I put Takuya and Koji into the time-out corners when they got too out of control, they're banned from burger-making in the future.
After a treat of burgers from the grateful family we got back on the trailmon and continued to the rose morning star, I just hope things keep going smoothly.
THIRD POV
WITH THE GANG
Merigold yawns as she awoke from her nap on the train seats, she rubs her eyes as she looked around at her family. Her Mama was talking to uncle Koji about something while her uncle Davis was looking out the window and enjoying the breeze while her aunt Zoe watched him to make sure he didn't fall out of the window since he was standing on the seats.
Her aunt Sabrina was taking a nap herself, while uncle Adam and aunt Teresa were talking quietly near her while uncle JP was showing Grademon some human magic tricks, she really liked Grademon, he felt like a Papa to her but she would wait for the right time to call him that. Her uncle Takuya was watching Bokomon and Neemon while checking out his D-tector. Merigold stretched and jumped down from the seat to go over to her Mama.
"Hey Merigold, did you enjoy your nap?" Daisuke asked as she saw Merigold awake.
"It was nice," Merigold said making Grademon glance over before looking back down at the trick JP was doing.
He had been told everyone's names and earned the right to know Merigold's name, he promised not to break their trust.
Suddenly the Trailmon yells making everyone jolt and looks at each other, Takuya smirked as he went over to the window and looked out it.
"Check it out! The Rose morning star gotta be close by now," Takuya said.
"Its mid-day are the clouds supposed to be that dark?" Zoe asked taking notice of the dark clouds getting closer.
Teresa sat back down from the window and looks at Bokomon asking "Hey Bokomon, what does the book have to say about this area?"
Bokomon hums as he opens his books and looks through it.
"Hm, let's see, I haven't found anything that-ah!" Bokomon gave a yell at something he found in his book right at the Trailmon screeched to a stop making everyone stumble and fall.
Daisuke yelps as she fell backward but was caught by strong arms, she looked up at Grademon who helps her stand straight.
"You okay?" He asked making Daisuke nod with a smile.
"I'm fine thanks," Daisuke said as she looks around as JP got up rubbing his head.
"Alright, who's the nimrod that slammed on the breaks?!" JP asked getting up.
"That would be me, blue boy! End of the line," The Trailmon said making Zoe look out the window again.
"That can't be right, we're in the middle of nowhere," Zoe said looking around.
"It looks like the tracks don't stop for miles," Koji said from the other side.
"How observant of you, look! If I say it's the end of the line, it's the end of the line, go on, get out! Get lost," Trailmon said as he opens up the compartment.
"Let's just get off before we get banned from the Trailmon express," Sabrina said making everyone get off with a few grumbles here and there.
The Trailmon then wished them luck before quickly leaving, Davis raised an eyebrow at this before looking over at his sister and taking note of how tense Grademon had gotten. He was staying close to Daisuke and Merigold, this made him on edge. He then noticed Bokomon looking at something.
"What's up Bokomon?" Davis asked making the group look over at the little digimon.
"Welcome to the Dark Gate, that temple-like structure behind you is the Dark Gate through it lies the continent of darkness," Bokomon said making everyone turn around to see the large gate structure.
"Now that's ominous," Sabrina said with a shiver.
"Is it as bad as it sounds?" Zoe asked.
"I wish that I could tell you but to be honest I have no idea what awaits us there, it's an eerie land surrounded in utter darkness, but the danger it holds is as legendary as its mysteries," Bokomon said while patting his egg.
"I always heard of this place in my travels, none of them good," Grademon said crossing his arms.
"We'll have to be careful inside then," Daisuke said as Merigold held her hand, she was getting bigger now.
According to Bokomon, Merigold was reaching the point in her 'rookie' stage where she might digivolve soon, Sabrina had noticed her increased energy along with Merigold's improving vocabulary and body movements. Grademon had said the more battles a digimon is exposed to the quicker they grow and Merigold had been exposed to them since she was born so it was not really that much of a surprise to the digimon.
Once everyone was in agreement they began walking towards the Dark gate, as they walked closer Davis caught sight of a symbol on the gate.
"Hey Bokomon, Isn't that a warrior symbol?" Davis said making everyone pause at the entrance and look up at the symbol.
Bokomon gulps and looked into his book once more before nodding and saying "Correct, that symbol belongs to the legendary warrior of darkness,"
"Darkness," Koji mutters narrowing his eyes at the symbol, his opposite then.
"Hang on, if this symbol is on the gate does that mean it's the warrior of darkness's territory? That warrior is the only one we have yet to run into," Sabrina said making the group share a look.
"Your right, we'll have to be extra careful when we enter, they'll be empowered in their element," Adam said.
"Let's watch our step then," Daisuke said as Takuya took the lead and the group began following the train tracks into the dark land.
An hour in they arrived at a spooky-looking forest, Merigold whimpers holding Daisuke's arm at the noises around them, Grademon kept a hand on his sword as looks around the area. So far things were going smoothly, he glanced down at Daisuke as she comforts her daughter.
"Don't worry, Mama won't let you get hurt, Grademon either," Daisuke said and glanced up at the ultimate level digimon.
"Right, you're in safe hands," Grademon said softly making Merigold nod and relax a bit.
Only to yelp a second later as Teresa yells, making a few others yell in shock, Grademon who had been high strung drew his sword and held it in a defensive stance in front of Daisuke, Merigold, Davis, and Sabrina, the latter two hugging each other from the sudden yelling.
Grademon blinks and relaxes when he saw no threat other than Teresa holding onto Takuya who was shivering, Zoe had latched into Koji making him look a bit uncomfortable while Bokomon had latched into JP's leg making him fall down. The only ones not freaking out are Adam, who looked on with a deadpanned face, and Neemon who didn't look bothered by anything at all.
After everyone calms down, with Bokomon being the hardest, the group went back to walking.
"Hey, is that a light up ahead?" Takuya asked as he points at some lights in the distance.
"Let's check it out," Sabrina said as she ran ahead with Takuya and Koji with the rest of the group following close behind.
They arrived at the lights to discover that it was glowing moss, it reminded Daisuke of glowing in the dark stuff. Like the kind you see in star decorations for the bedroom at night.
"Wow, I've never seen glowing moss before," Adam said looking at the moss.
"Is it safe?" Merigold asked looking curious.
"Let me check," Grademon said as he knelt down and picked up some of the moss.
"It is, we can use it to light our way," Grademon said making everyone smile and grab some moss, Merigold grins as she held her own ball of moss and looked it over in wonder.
With renewed courage thanks to the light of the moss, the group went on their way, the forest wasn't that scary now since they could see some of it. However, they soon discovered an opening in some rock formations.
"Look it's a cave," JP said as they approached it and glanced inside.
"It's almost too perfect like it was dug out by someone," Zoe said uneasy making Teresa nod.
"Or something," She added as Takuya steps forward and held a hand to his mouth.
"Hey! Anybody in there!" Takuya yelled making his voice echo down the cave but thankfully got no reply back.
"I guess it's empty," Daisuke said with a sigh only to jump as yells making everyone look at him.
"What's wrong Bokomon?" Davis asked worriedly.
"I feel like this place is a ghost cavern full of ectoplasmic digi-spirits! I knew I should have stayed behind but do I listen to myself? No!" Bokomon said as something moves behind Bokomon in the trees.
"Did you see that?" Sabrina asked going on alert as something jumps through the trees.
"Whose there show yourself!" Takuya demanded.
"Whose there show yourself!" Came a squeaky copy reply back.
"What are you a parrot?" JP asked making his question get repeated like Takuya's.
"This is annoying," Davis mutters as he looks at Daisuke who nods.
"I don't sense anything bad," Sabrina said as Grademon watched the others try to outdo the voices by doing human tongue twisters.
"It's no use, we just can't trip them up," Adam said as Koji ran forward with some moss and threw it at the trees.
It lit up the trees letting everyone see the culprit copycats, to Sabrina they looked like some sort of bat mixed with a cat that got its hands on some hooks.
"My goodness, those creatures are Pipismon, they're mutant digimon whose power is greatest in the dark, they can reflect sound back exactly as it's heard," Bokomon said as the Pipismon flew from the trees and went into the cave behind everyone.
"They remind me of bats back home," Davis said as everyone went over to the cave to watch the little digimon groom themselves.
"For cave-dwelling digimon their rather gentle even if they are a bit scary looking," Bokomon said as Zoe looks at him.
"Well between us I think they're kind of cute," Zoe said with a smile as above them the Pipismon smile.
"I think they're kind of cute," They repeated making the triplets and Merigold chuckle.
"I'm amazed to find peaceful digimon in such a dark place," Bokomon said as Grademon nodded.
"So I guess it turns out your glad you came," Takuya said making Bokomon blink in confusion.
"You just learned something, if you hadn't had come then you would have never known about this, it's good that you took a risk," Takuya said making Daisuke nod.
"If your not sure about something there's really only one way to find out, that's to take a risk and go experience it for yourself," Daisuke said making Grademon chuckle.
"I see, nothing ventured and nothing gained," Grademon said with a smile.
"Well bless my buttons, your right," Bokomon said making Sabrina grin as she got an idea.
"Why not write this down in your book?" Sabrina said pointing at Bokomon's waistband.
"Yeah, you'll be the first digimon to chronicle the continent of darkness, you'll be famous like those explores back home," Adam said remembering his mother telling him about someone called Christopher Columbus.
"Well, I, uh, really?" Bokomon asked a bit shocked.
"Sure and since your writing about digimon why not write about our adventures?" Zoe said giving a smile as everyone encouraged Bokomon who decided to pressure the idea and write his own book and add to his current one.
"Well, let's keep going and exploring," Takuya said making everyone cheer.
Just as they took a few steps a tree in front of them fell down kicking up dirt and dust making some of the Pipsimon fly away, everyone covers their faces as Grademon covers the triplets and Merigold with his cape.
"Your journey is about to be cut short small fry," Arbormon's voice said as the dust and dirt settles.
"Yeah, says who!" Takuya said as Arbormon jumps down from the fallen tree saying "Guess who,"
"Oh no! Not Arbormon again," Bokomon said moving to hide behind Grademon with Neemon.
"Good guess," Arbormon said with a chuckle before jumping up into the air yelling his attack Power Pumbled and hit four of the Pipsimon making their fractal code show.
"No!" Merigold yelled as she saw this, Arbormon fell back down consuming the data as he did so.
"That was an appetizer you kids are the main course!" Arbormon said while data surrounds him and he became Petaldramon.
"Incoming!" Adam yells as the group splits right in time for Petaldramon to run at them hit the cave instead.
"Is it me or is he bigger this time?!" Teresa yelled as the warrior of nature rampaged through the forest.
"I dunno! But it's time to digivolve!" Sabrina yells as the group met back up and put their moss down.
Grademon was handed Merigold, Bokomon, and Neemon, he nods and took them to hide in some dense trees out of harm's way, hopefully.
"Now everyone!" Daisuke and Takuya yelled as everyone pulled their D-tectors out and stood ready as data surrounded them.
"Execute! Beast spirit Evolution!" Everyone yells as they became their beasts.
"BurningGreymon!"
"KendoGarurumon!"
"Raijumon!"
"Zyphermon!"
"Reinamon!"
"Ryumon!"
"Okorimon!"
"Shimomon!"
"Setchimon!"
The beast's roar as Petaldramon faced them, Ryumon and Reinamon took to the air with Setchimon and Zyphermon, Grademon watched on in awe at the sight of the legendary beasts. He couldn't help but admire the elegant way they moved but his eyes went to Reinamon, she was stunning the way her body moved and cut through the air. Grademon quickly realized he was getting distracted and shook his head to focus on the fight about to take place.
"You know what I think? It's petal pulling time!" Raijumon said with a growling voice as electricity sparks around him.
"Petaldramon your all bark and no bite!" Setchimon said taunting the warrior who shoots out his tongue at the group making them scatter to the sides or into the air, only to pull a tree back and eat it.
"Man, talk about getting fiber in your diet," BurningGreymon said having took to the air.
"He's not eating because he's hungry, he's doing it to get power!" Okorimon yelled as she watched the digimon grow until he towered over the forest.
"Not good! Guys, don't let him eat anything else, remember he's the warrior of nature for a reason!" Ryumon yells ducking to the side as Petaldramon swipes at the air.
"Eating healthy makes you grow, right!" Petadramon yells.
On the ground Raijumon runs over and charges up an attack, his shoulder horns glow as he used one of his new moves he made.
"Electro ball!" Raijumon yelled as the large ball of blue thunder shot at Petaldramon and hit him in the side making him yell.
The smoke clears to show a wound that quickly heals over, Petaldramon then turns to Raijumon saying "My turn!"
"Oh boy!" Raijumon yells turning and running as Petaldramon went after him.
{Everyone! Cause a distraction and weaken Petaldramon so BurningGreymon and Shimomon can deal a fatal blow!} Reinamon said as she opens up a metal link to everyone as she flew above Petaldramon and opens her mouth.
"Swift!" She yells as sharp glowing energy stars left her mouth and hit along Petaldramon's back making him yell.
{Okay, but why BurningGreymon and Shimomon?} Setchimon asked as he ran over and jumps on Petaldramon's back.
"Earth spikes!" Setchimon yelled as spikes of earth shot from the ground and hit Petaldramon's chin making him stop, Setchimon quickly flew off Petaldramon as Zyphermon flew down her wings glowing a steely white.
"Steel wing!" She yells flying past Petaldramon's hind legs and cutting deep making the big digimon yell in pain even as the wounds heal rapidly.
{Because his element is nature, last time I checked plants don't like fire or ice!} Ryumon said as he flys down and wraps his long body around Petaldramon's neck.
{I see, leave it to us! Make an opening on his back!} BurningGreymon said as he flew into the air with Shimomon and began gathering energy.
This stuns the digimon long enough for KendoGarurumon to using his Howling Star on Petaldramon's legs, Ryumon then growls as Petaldramon managed to shake him off.
"Thorn jab!" Petaldramon yelled as he managed to lift his tail and slam it into the ground.
Reinamon roars as she avoids the sudden attack of thorns while Ryumon found himself caught with the others stuck on the ground, Okorimon growls as she jumps and avoids the thorns and gets behind Petaldramon.
{One opening coming up!} Okorimon said as she runs over.
"Hurry! These things hurt and stink!" Raijumon yells as he struggles.
"Flamethrower!" Okorimon yells as fire spewed from her mouth and hit Petaldramon on the back making him yell and cut off his thorn attack making everyone drop to the ground.
"Now! BurningGreymon! Shimomon!" Reinamon yells flying over to Zyphermon.
"Zyphermon! Increase the fire with wind!" Reinamon yells as she flew past the warrior of wind and down to check on everyone.
"Ice beam!" Shimomon yells as in front of her mouth a glowing blue orb appears before shooting out a light blue zig-zag pattern of energy that hits the open wound and freezing it with ice thus preventing it from healing.
"Wildfire Tsunami!" BurningGreymon yells as he bursts with fire before shooting it at Petaldramon with Zyphermon firing her Hurricane Gale attack making the fire stronger.
It hits Petaldramon making him scream as he was consumed by the fire making him weaken and shrink down, when he was down to regular size his fractal code appears along with his beast spirit.
"KendoGarurumon! Slide evolution, Lobomon!" Lobomon yells as he jumps over and pulled his D-Tector out.
"Petaldramon it's kindling time! Fractal code, digitize!" Lobomon said as he scans the code.
The code went into the D-tector as the beast spirit flew over and hovers in front of Lobomon, the scanned Data then left his device and into the beast spirit making it glow and shift shape into a crouched being who seemed to be made of bark and plants but what confused Lobomon was the fact that the totem looked like a woman, wasn't Arbormon a male right now?
"Oh! They did it!" Bokomon said as Grademon nods.
"Go, Mama!" Merigold yelled as she jumps for joy.
"Amazing, all that training paid off," Grademon said as he watched the warriors approach Arbormon.
"Ready to call it quits Arbormon?" Ryumon asked as he sat in the air.
"Uh, well," Arbormon said while Okorimon growls and tensed up sensing another darker aura approaching.
"Yes, he will," A deep voice said startling the group as they look behind Arbormon to see a digimon in black armor, with blonde hair, red eyes, and well, red eyes on his shoulders and chest.
"Duskmon," Arbormon said even he sounded surprised.
"Who is that?" Zyphermon asked.
"You guys wanted to see the warrior of darkness, well, there he is," Okorimon said making Lobomon glance over at her before looking back at Duskmon.
"Aw nuts," BurningGreymon said summing up everyone's current thought, they just finished fighting Arbormon, now this guy shows up?
"Here comes the calvary, a friend in need is a friend indeed, right," Arbormon said getting up and facing Duskmon.
"Wrong, with your beast spirit gone there's really no more use for you now is there?" Duskmon said a sword coming out of the mouth hand on his right.
Then before anyone could blink the sword slashed through Arbormon making him yell in pain as his fractal code showed, along with a faint outline of human shape inside.
"Ryumon!" Reinamon yells as she slide evolves into Tenshimon and quickly flew down as Duskmon went to take the code.
"No, you don't!" Ryumon yells flying down and using his tail to knock Duskmon back a few steps and got between him and his sister.
Tenshimon flew in front of the code and used her D-Tector to scan it, she watched as it vanished into her D-tector along with the human spirit which evolves into a knelt warrior woman in plant themed armor, Tenshimon then gasped as the dark form changed into not a boy as everyone expected but a girl! She had shoulder-length dark brown hair in a braid, a light green knee length-summer dress with a brown leather jacket, white ankle socks with brown trainers, her skin was lightly tanned as she fell forward into Tenshimon's arms, she looked to be 12-years-old.
"What the?" Tenshimon said in shock but it seems Setchimon recognized her.
"Ayame!" He yelled in shock as Tenshimon quickly flew over to him and placed the out cold girl on his back.
"Arbormon was a girl this whole time!? Anymore surprises today!" Raijumon asked.
"Forget about surprises, we got this guy to deal with," BurningGreymon said as he looked at Duskmon who points his sword at the group.

Now, I'm gonna do something different with the group in the next chapter, I know the next episode after fighting Duskmon is Takuya having a life lesson and maturing but with Daisuke and her natural leadership mixed in, he's matured a different way in my story.
In the next chapter, plans, and surprises.
