Chapter 7

This whole pushing the dog on me was going to get old and quick. It's a really good thing that my 18th birthday was going to be in a few days. Today was September the 9th and my birthday was on the 13th. After that dad had no say in who I hung around with. I guess they knew that so they were trying to get me to comply while they thought they could. Little did they know just how stubborn I was. There's absolutely no way I'd want to be tied to the pack and having literal puppies. No thank you. I'd rather not have my leg humped daily. That thought caused me to snicker to myself.

Climbing out of the truck I flung my bookbag across my shoulder and dug my keys out of my coat pocket. "Sorry guys dad's not home yet. I didn't expect anyone to be here. I was planning on getting dinner on the table and starting on my homework." I told them hoping they'd just head on home. "That's fine Bells. We'll just wait in the living room for your dad. Maybe Jacob could keep you company and help." I cringed at the use of the name that only people closest to me used and they definitely weren't it. "That's alright you guys can wait in the living room. I don't need any help with dinner. I actually prefer cooking all on my own. It's my way of stress relief. I enjoy cooking and always have." I turned around and opened up the door while running my bag to my room and locking the door before coming back down. I really didn't want the puppy to be trying to look through my things and I sure didn't trust him not to. Coming back down the stairs I walked as quietly as I could since I could hear them talking in the living room. " You need to get on her good side Jacob. She's supposed to be promised to the tribe. She's going to have the strongest magic in the line since she has magic on both sides. Pity her mother never knew about her heritage, but that's alright we did. You need to make her believe she's your imprint. I know it's not true and I don't care. You're the future chief and this will make you invincible. This will be so easy especially with Charlie on our side. She won't put up a fight at all. She can't, she has to obey her father till she's 18." Did these idiots actually believe the crap they were spouting? There's no freaking way I'm getting involved with that bunch. Dad has got to be out of his mind. Why would he not tell me anything about mine or mom's history and how could mom not know any of this?

Walking the rest of the way down the stairs so they could hear me was kind of funny since they went totally quiet. I walked into the kitchen and started to get the stuff out for spaghetti since it looked like they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. About the time I got the water on to boil and the sauce started Jacob came creeping into the kitchen. "Hey Bells it's been a long time huh. You're just as beautiful as you used to be" he said trying to sound cocky, but honestly just coming off as dumb sounding. "It's Bella Jacob only my closest friends and family call me Bells" might as well get it out there now. Let him know I wasn't the least bit interested in him or his offer. "Oh come on but we are family. We've known each other for years. We've always been close. Now we can be closer and we can be together just like we're supposed to be." HAHAHAHAHA yep couldn't help it I burst out laughing at that. Once I got myself under control I had to let him know. "Sorry you were serious. I thought you were joking. I'm sorry but honestly I don't even really know you. I have only come to see dad for a week each summer and then went back home. The only time we ever spent time together was when I was reading a book while our fathers fished. We aren't supposed to be together and honestly there's no way I would date someone who's only fifteen when I'll be 18 in a few day's. Sorry but not interested in anything with you. Now I need to get these noodles drained and the sauce added so if you'll excuse me." Hey I had manners even if I didn't want to have anything to do with the overgrown boy. Just as I got the table set and the food on the table dad walked in. "Hey Bells isn't it great that Billy and Jacob are here? You can get to know him a little better." Jacob just stood there with a cocky grin on his face like he had won this. Ha he'll soon learn. I turned to dad and said " sorry dad, but I've got a ton of homework to do and won't be able to do any friend making tonight." " Oh come on Bells surely you can do it this weekend. You've got plenty of time. Don't you want to get to know family? I think you and Jacob would make a fine couple." " I'm sorry dad, but we've already gone over this and no it can't wait. I don't like to be behind so I need to finish it now. Then I'm going to have an early night. You guys can enjoy the game while I do that." Dad did not look happy about it but what could he say since it was my school work? "Fine Bella but we need to have a conversation soon." "Whatever you say dad."

Dinner was a strange affair where Billy and Dad talked about how much fun we all had when I was little and how close Jacob and I used to be. While Jacob kept trying to touch my hand or knee. The boy is gonna get hurt if he doesn't stop. I wonder if this shield thing can slice a hand off. Once I was finished with my plate I told dad I was going upstairs to finish my work and would see him in the morning. He tried to get me to join them but there's no way I was staying for more of that. Once in my room I felt a lot better and checked my phone to see I had a text from Alice and one from Edward making sure I was still going in the morning. Once I told them yes they said they'd be by around 10 and I told them it was fine. Now to finish this work and avoid the mutt and his daddy.I can't wait to see the look on my dad's face once they get here in the morning.
