Chapter 4: The Offer and a New Life
The next day had arrived sooner than Aaron would've liked. His anxiety and caution in his eventual meeting with Rias Gremory only served to keep him up late at night. The dark rings under his eyes were a testament to his lack of sleep.
That, and the fact that he had another mouth to feed in his house. Berserker, or Fran as he took to calling her despite her protests, didn't really have Saber's appetite but she apparently had a hankering for sweets. How does he know? Immediately after dinner and dessert came around, she ate all of his sweets, including the secret stash of candy he had hidden away in his bedroom to keep it away from Saber.
So now he had two blackholes for stomachs living with him. And he's definitely going to lose more money because of this but now he no longer has to worry because if Saber and Berserker were going to live with him then they are going to earn their keep.
And what better way than to get jobs for the both of them? Philip-san could use the extra help in the shop. Who knows? Two cute young women working in a sweet shop? Men and teenage boys would flock to the store not only to get something sweet but also to look at the girls. Aaron can attest to that sort of attention considering every customer he's ever dealt with was a teenage girl or a young woman, and on rare occasions, a middle-aged woman.
But while his freeloading companions would be important right now, at the moment, they were secondary to his primary concern. Miyuki Hyoudou, the girl that he failed to protect had been resurrected as a Devil. Aaron didn't think that demons had the power to resurrect the dead but he bore witness to the event just last night and he still couldn't believe it.
"Ughhhh… why can't I just have a normal day like any other person on this green Earth?" Aaron sighed to himself putting his head down on his desk.
Who was he kidding? His life is anything but normal at this point…
"Pardon me, you're Aaron Jaeger, correct?" A suave, masculine voice inquired.
"Huh?" Aaron lifts his head up until he looks to see a handsome young man with short blond hair, with bluish-gray eyes and a mole underneath his left eye. He wears the Kuoh Academy boys' school uniform, which consists of a black blazer with white accents over a white, long-sleeved dress shirt with a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes. "You want something, pal?"
"Oh, not me specifically. However, my club president would like to have a word with you." The young man said with a charming smile.
Aaron narrowed his eyes, "Let me guess. Rias?"
"Indeed. Buchou seemed rather excited to speak with you."
"Who are you exactly?" The hunter pondered while already figuring out that this person in front of him was a Devil.
"I'm Yuuto Kiba from Class 2-C and Buchou's Knight."
"I have no idea what that means but lead on." Aaron replied, standing up from his desk to follow the blonde. The duo were completely unaware that most of the female populace around them were whispering things that sounded suspiciously like a pairing.
But it soon turned silent once they left the school building, and they continued their way and even past the school as they soon came across the small building in the forest.
"This is it." Kiba said.
"The old school building?"
"It's the Occult Research Club's building now."
"You don't say…" Aaron trailed.
"Well, shall we go inside?" Kiba directed the hunter inside, who reluctantly followed. The dark halls seemed to give the club building an eerie aura, like he was walking into the mouth of the underworld. He was soon brought towards two red doors with a rose family like crest as it soon opened to reveal a very well built room, complete with sofas, tables, a desk, and a shower.
"A shower? Who puts a shower in a clubroom?" Aaron asked aloud.
"Buchou."
"Of course." Aaron deadpanned. He then looked towards one of the couches and was met with the sight of a petite girl with white hair and golden eyes. The front of her hair has two long bangs going past her shoulders and several loose bangs hanging over her forehead, while the back has a short bob cut. She also wears a black cat-shaped hair clip on both sides of her hair and wears the Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, without the shoulder cape. As of now, she was currently eating candy. "I'm guessing you're part of this club too, little lady?"
The girl didn't really answer, only stared at him as she munched away on her sweets.
"Okay then…" Aaron's left brow twitched a bit at the cold callous look in the girl's eye.
"That's Koneko Toujou, she's a first-year and our Rook." Kiba smiled apologetically. "She may seem a bit cold and soft-spoken, but she's a valuable asset in our Peerage."
"I still have no idea what those terms mean." Aaron said as he marched over to an empty couch and plopped down on it. "Well? Is Rias coming or not? I don't really like having my time wasted."
"Ara, ara, no need to be so stiff and impatient." A voice called out, as coming from the back was another female, and it was none other than Akeno Himejima.
"And you're supposed to be?" Aaron asked.
"Ara? I thought my reputation would've been clue enough but you're not like the other boys in school. My name is Akeno Himejima, I serve as the Queen in Buchou's Peerage." The obviously seductive woman said.
"Uh-huh…" The crimson-eyed teen said, lazily putting his hands behind his head. "Anymore showing up?"
"No. It's just us currently." Akeno answered.
"Oh, looks like you finally arrived." A voice said. Aaron turned to see Rias coming into the room. "Sorry I was late. I was being held up by a meeting I had to attend." She then looked to her Peerage. "I'm guessing you're getting acquainted by them already?"
"Something like that," Aaron shrugged. "Well? Where's Miyuki? Is she alright?"
"She's fine and resting at home for the moment." Rias said, before walking over to her desk and sitting down. "Now then… I suppose you have a few questions about us."
"More than a few but I'll save half of them for later. And I doubt I'm getting out of here without being questioned myself." Aaron stated.
"Oh don't be silly. We won't keep you here long." Rias giggled, as if it were a joke. "Now then, I guess we can bust a quick myth here, that being that Devils aren't the cruel, evil soul-suckers that people make us out as… Well, not all Devils are evil, at least. Ah, and we don't steal souls anymore, that practice got abolished a long time ago."
"What else? Next you're gonna tell me that Devils and Angels are now bed buddies?" Aaron deadpanned.
"Oh no, don't be silly." Rias chuckled, "But that's another thing you should know about. Those of us in the Underworld and Heaven are split into three factions - Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels. Devils and Angels are in direct opposition to each other, and I doubt I need to explain much about them; but then both of us are also fighting against the Fallen Angels, those that want to serve God but know it's already too late for them."
"Uh-huh, and where does resurrecting humans come into picture?" Aaron questioned. "That Fallen Angel from last night said that Miyuki had something inside of her. She also mentioned a Sacred Gear that I possess. I don't know much about these Sacred Gears but I doubt they're simple tools."
"So you do have a Sacred Gear." Rias blinked in surprise.
"No, at least, not a real one." Aaron replied. "But that begs the question. If humans have Sacred Gears inside of them, I'm guessing they're targeted by all three Factions. Which means… you didn't actually save Miyuki for her life. You wanted what she possessed. Tell me I'm wrong."
Rias didn't even answer, she merely gave him a stoic look but her silence gave him all the answers he needed.
"I see. So no matter how much you preach that Devils are different, you're still the same. Greedy, infernal creatures from Hell." Aaron spat. "No wonder this job of mine proves rather annoying."
Rias sighed softly, "While I won't deny your claims, there are reasonable explanations as to why. Mainly, over several millennia, our kind, that is the Pure-Blooded Devils, is slowly going on the path to extinction. So we need humans turned Devil Incarnates to fill up our ranks."
"Am I supposed to care? You realize what my job entails, right? What does a race of Devils matter to me?" Aaron inquired, indifferent to the plight. "If anything, it'll make my job as a Hunter even easier. Less supernatural beings to stir up trouble for humans."
"As I said, not all Devils are evils nowadays." Rias said. "But let me ask you this: if one of the Three Factions were to go extinct, what do you suppose will happen?"
"What else? A power struggle. Angels and Fallen would be more focused on one another but without a common enemy to fight, they'd turn their sights on other prey." Aaron answered. "Frankly, something like that would only make my job a pain in the ass."
"And not only that, the balance of power would be shifted so much, the spiritual forces would throw the Earth into chaos."
"And the World definitely wouldn't like that." Aaron mumbled under his breath. "Well, whatever. As long as Devils aren't causing any problems and the humans they reincarnate are doing it of their free will, I can tolerate it."
"Well, now that we got that out of the way. I have an offer for you, Jaeger-kun." Rias said with a sly smile.
"Oh? And what could that be? I should hope it's not a marriage proposal. I'm too young to have a wife." Aaron said with a smirk.
"It's not… per se." Rias said.
"Well? What is it then?"
"How would you like to be a member of my Peerage?"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"What?/Ara?" Koneko, Yuuto, and Akeno said at the same time.
"Be a part of my Peerage." Rias repeated. "You'll be reincarnated as a Devil. And you'll be fairly compensated for your work."
"Huh. What are the perks of being a Devil then?" Aaron inquired, raising a brow.
"Well, that depends on what Piece you take." Rias said as she snapped her fingers and small magic circles appeared on her desk, materializing into a Pawn, Rook, Knight, and Bishop. "Plus, you'd be immortal and you age far slower than humans."
"Immortality, huh?" Aaron rubbed his chin.
"So? Will you accept my offer, Jaeger-kun?" Rias asked with her eyes closed and a smile on her face.
"Nope."
"Excellent, we can- EEEEEEEHHHHHHHHH!?"
"I said no."
"But… why?" Rias asked.
"Because I'm already employed by Clock Tower."
"Clock Tower?" Rias asked before realizing what he meant. "You're with the Mage's Association?"
"On occasion. They are one of my prime sources for income. But the real reason I didn't take your offer is because I like being human. What's the point in being immortal if everyone you care about dies around you? Trust me, I know a few people who are immortal and they told me that immortality is a lonely life." Aaron answered. "After all, you of all people would know what being lonely is like, right, Rias?"
"Huh? What's that supposed to-" Rias paused when she took a good look at Aaron and her vision slowly shifted to a different younger boy who looked exactly like the human across from her. "It can't be…"
"It's been a long time, Rias." Aaron grinned.
"Buchou?" Yuuto looked at Rias.
Rias stared at the teen, finally realizing that it was her childhood friend from so long ago… then she lunged across the desk and tackled Aaron into a hug. "Aaron!"
"Ack! Right in the ribs…" Aaron groaned in comical pain. "Why did you have to tackle me?"
"You're here! You're really here!" Rias cried out.
"What's… going on?" Koneko asked in confusion.
"I, honestly, have no idea right now." Akeno answered, equally confused.
"Geez took you long enough to finally remember me…" Aaron groaned as the two got back up. "I was starting to think you really forgot."
"I should be saying that to you." Rias pouted. "You were so rude to me last night."
"Truth be told, I thought you were someone else because the Rias I knew was a spoiled crybaby." Aaron snickered.
"I was nota spoiled crybaby!" Rias huffed.
"Yes you were."
"No I wasn't!"
"You were,"
"I wasn't!"
"You were,"
"I wasn't!"
"You weren't,"
"I was!"
"HAH! Gotcha!"
*SLAP*
"OW! What the hell, woman!?" Aaron cried out while holding his swollen cheek.
"Jerk!" Rias huffed, folding her arms under her breasts while pouting like a child.
"Buchou, can you explain what's going on?" Akeno asked.
"Oh, right." Rias quickly regained her composure and answered, "Everyone, this is my childhood friend, Aaron."
"I did not see that coming." Kiba said with an amused smile.
"When?" Koneko asked.
"It was about more than a decade ago when I first met him." Rias explained as she went back towards memory lane.
In a seemingly unassuming city known as Kuoh, a young girl was out in a playground by herself. The little girl herself seemed entirely different from children in Japan. In fact, she looked foreign as evident by her long bright red hair and turquoise eyes. She wore a light blue sundress that went down to her thighs and white sandals.
Though the little girl seemed like she'd be the center of attention on the playground, the problem laid in the fact that there were no other children nearby.
She sat on a swing set, all alone and depressed. She wanted to make at least one friend in the country but no one wanted to approach her.
"Hey, you alright?" A voice spoke, drawing the girl's attention.
"Huh?" The little girl blinked in surprise when she stared into the crimson eyes of a boy around her age with neck-length raven black hair that had crimson highlights, pale skin, and a boyish face. He wore a simple red t-shirt, blue shorts, and black sneakers.
"I said, are you alright?" The boy asked again with a look of concern.
The girl looked down, "No… I wanted to make a friend but… no one was here…" The red-haired girl looked close to crying before she felt a gentle hand on her head, making her look up at the grinning face of the boy.
"It's okay! There's no need to cry! I can be your friend!" The boy offered with a toothy smile that made the girl blush lightly at how cute he looked. "So, wanna play?"
"Um, sure." The girl nodded with a bright smile of her own.
The two children played together on the playground. The boy would give the girl pushes on the swing, they'd slide together, they played on the see-saw, they climbed the jungle gym, and they played a small game of hide and seek. Overall, it was a fun day for the children.
However, the sun was starting to set and the children's parents returned to pick them up. Before the children went their separate ways, the boy suddenly had a question on his mind.
"By the way, I never got your name." He said.
The girl gasped and felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment. "Oh, my name is Rias… Rias Gremory."
"That's a weird name." The boy admitted.
Rias pouted cutely in annoyance, "It is not!"
The boy chuckled then placed his hands lazily behind his head, "It kinda is but I like it." Hearing that, the girl blushed once more as the boy continued, "My name's Aaron. Hope we see each other again, Rias."
The redheaded girl felt a joyful smile spread across her face, "Me too. Aaron."
And with that, the children went their separate ways, bidding each other a fond farewell.
"Ever since then, we've always been together."
"Well, until I had to move from out of Japan." Aaron added.
"Awwww, well isn't that cute." Akeno gushed.
"Akeno, please…" Rias pouted before looking at Aaron. "What have you been doing all this time though?"
"Hunting." Aaron answered bluntly.
"You already said that."
"Uh… school and part-time employment?"
"Really? Where do you work?"
"That bakery. Sweeties Paradise."
Koneko's ears perked up at that. "A lot of chocolate?"
Aaron looked at the white-haired girl in surprise since that was more words than she said so far to him. "That and a whole lot more."
"Hm… you can stay."
"Huh?" Aaron raised a brow, unable to comprehend what the loli meant.
"Still, it's a surprise to hear that you're working at a bakery." Kiba said. "Most teenagers wouldn't be thinking about jobs right now."
"Yeah, well, most teens aren't me. I gotta pay bills to live in my house." The hunter stated. He turned to the side and whispered, "That, and I got two freeloaders living with me…"
"Freeloaders?" Akeno asked.
"Gh!" Aaron flinched when Akeno picked up on that, before sighing, "I might as well introduce them now… Saber! Berserker!" Materializing out of thin air at their Master's command were the two aforementioned Servants. Saber resting a hand on her katanas just in case while Berserker was growling and snarling at the Devils. "Easy, Berserker, they're our new friends now."
"Don't… trust… them…" Berserker growled.
"But you can trust me, right? So, just calm down." Aaron told the Mad Servant. Berserker growled lowly again, before grunting, lowering her guard.
"Mnn…"
"Ara, these are…" Akeno began.
"My Servants. Saber and Berserker." Aaron introduced.
"Heroic Spirits? This is the first time I've seen or met them." Rias said with awe.
"Well now you do." Aaron said.
"Hiya! I'm Saber, but if you wanna know my true name it's Miyamoto Musashi!" She grinned.
"Musashi? As in the Musashi, who mastered the Nitoryu and won against Sasaki Kojiro?" Yuuto gasped in amazement.
"Indeed. And from the looks of it, you're a swordsman, correct?" Saber questioned the Devil boy.
"I… yes, that's right. How did you know?"
The pale lilac-haired woman smirked, "You forget. I am a master of the sword. I can tell when there is another warrior that wields a blade."
"And what is Berserker's True Name?" Rias asked, looking at the homunculus. Aaron looked at the Berserker, as if asking if it's alright to say it. The Servant released a grunt, saying that she gave him permission but that she still didn't like them.
Aaron sighed, "Well, to answer that, she doesn't really like using her full name so I just call her Fran."
"Fran… as in Frankenstein?"
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"
"What did I just say?" Aaron groaned.
"I didn't expect Frankenstein's Monster to be a cute girl." Kiba said with a smile. "Then again, I didn't think Musashi would be a woman either."
"Welcome to the Moonlit world." The crimson-eyed hunter remarked as he rubbed the back of his head.
"So, Aaron, I need to ask…" Rias spoke in a serious tone… before she got up close to the young hunter's face and gave him a pleading look. "Will you please join my Peerage?"
"No." Aaron answered bluntly.
"Why not?" The red-haired Devil girl pouted.
"Because I don't wanna."
"Do it."
"No."
"Do it."
"No."
"I'll let you touch my boobs."
"I'm not that desperate."
"Akeno's boobs?"
"Not into sadism."
"Koneko's?"
"Are you joking right now?"
"C'mo~n!" Rias whined. "Please join my Peerage!"
"I said no. How many times do I have to tell you?"
"I'll give you twelve generations worth of money!" Rias said desperately.
"I said- wait, what?" Aaron blinked. "Did I hear that right? You said twelve generations worth of money?"
"My family is extremely rich." Rias answered with a sly grin.
"How much are we talking?" Aaron asked.
Rias didn't say anything but took a small piece of paper and wrote down the number with a pen. She then handed the paper over to Aaron to which he took and read. When his eyes laid upon the paper, his eyes couldn't bulge out any wider… at least by human standards.
"So much… money…" He said in silent awe. With this much cash, he'd never have to worry about groceries or bills for the rest of his life. The thought of giving over his humanity was incredibly tempting… but with great resistance and tear jerking reluctance, he returned the check. "I can't accept this." He had actual tears in his eyes as he returned the money that would set him up for life.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" Rias shouted in shock. Even money wasn't going to be enough?!
"Believe me, I'm dying on the inside for doing this." Aaron whined as he comically cried. "But yeah, even money won't buy my soul. I made that mistake once before."
"Well then, in that case…" Rias said as she tried to think of another way. An idea came to her, but it's one that's probably going to be too far. But then again, she was a Devil, so who cares about boundaries. With a shy look and blush she said, "I'll let you take my virginity."
*PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!*
Aaron did a comical spit take, Yuuto and Koneko blinked owlishly, and Akeno giggled perversely, that her King would be daring to offer that.
"Are you serious right now!?" Aaron exclaimed. "Why would you offer that?!"
"How uncouth! As if I would allow my Master to be sullied like some courtesan!" Saber huffed.
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" Berserker growled as she immediately summoned her hammer with electricity coming out of the cracks. "Master… is ours!"
"Why would you phrase it like that?!" Aaron whined.
"Hentai…" Koneko deadpanned. "Don't like you anymore…"
"Ack!" The hunter looked at the girl in shock, his whole body pale as snow. "A pervert…? Me…? I wanna forget this day now..."
"I'm not making this request lightly, Aaron. You're one of the only people I'd accept giving my innocence to." Rias admitted, the blush on her cheeks burning a bit brighter.
"But Buchou, what about-" Kiba was about to explain but a look from his King made him pause.
"Hm? What was he going to say?"
"It's nothing. Pay no mind to it." Rias waved off.
"Uh, okay then?" Aaron raised a brow before answering, "I'm taking a hard pass on your offer."
"What?!" Rias looked at her childhood friend, an expression similar to the hurt present on her face. "Y-You wouldn't… why would you-"
"Look, I know we're friends and all, but you getting this desperate to have me sell my soul to you… that's unlike you." Aaron sighed. "Besides, I already have obligations with the Mage's Association and Lord El-Melloi II is already breathing down on my neck with this assignment as it is."
Behind him, Saber and Berserker gave each other a subtle fist bump that their Master would deny such an offer.
"I think I overstayed my welcome." Aaron sat up from his seat. "It was good seeing you, Rias. Even if we did meet in the days I've been here."
"Aaron…" Rias murmured sadly as Aaron made his way to the door, but stopped in front of it as he looked over his shoulder.
"Look, if you need help, I'd be more than happy to do so, but as far as me joining your Peerage is concerned, I'm sorry…" He apologized, before opening the door that led to the hallway. "Saber, Berserker. Let's go."
"Yes, Master." Saber replied as she and Berserker followed their Master by returning to spirit form.
The rest of the Gremory Peerage watched the hunter and his Servants leave while Rias herself was looking down at the ground, her crimson locks shadowing her eyes.
Meanwhile in the Hyoudou Residence, a familiar brunette girl started to wake up in her bed. Naked as the day she was born. "Huh? What happened?" She wondered. "And why am I naked?" She asked herself, before she suddenly shot up awake when she remembered what happened. "Holy crap, I'm dead!" She panicked, but then looked down and touched herself. "Wait… I feel fine… but that… was it all a dream?"
A knock on her door drew her attention then she heard her mother's voice, "Miyuki? Are you up? Your cousin is here. Get dressed and come down to meet her."
Figuring that everything that happened was a dream, she replied, "Okay, mama." She stood up from her bed and opened the blinds. However, the sunlight that came through the window and struck her bare skin made her… weak for some reason. "What's going on? I feel… tired." She quickly shuts the blinds then gathers some clothes to put on.
After putting on her casual clothes, she went downstairs and into the living room and she was met with the site of another girl. The girl looked like a carbon copy of Miyuki but her brown hair was longer and in trusses, her eyes a warm chocolate brown, light skin, and a rather plain expression. She wore a tan jacket that seemed far too long for her arms, a black leather choker around her neck, a black undershirt, a pair of dark grey pantyhouse with the right reaching up to her thigh while the left one only reached her shin.
"Miyuki-san." The girl greeted her.
"Uh, hey, Hakuno. Long time no see." Miyuki greeted. "How was the flight?"
"Bearable." The girl, Hakuno, replied as she took in her cousin's attire. "I see you're wearing skimpy clothing as usual."
"Hey, you know me," Miyuki laughed weakly.
"Of course I do, you're my cousin after all." Hakuno said.
"Miyuki, why don't you help your cousin in getting her things to her room and then after that, show her around Kuoh." Miyuki's mother told her daughter.
"Okay, mama." Miyuki replied as she marched over to Hakuno's luggage and picked them up with both hands. "Come on, Hakunon." She said, using her cousin's childish nickname from when they were kids.
"I'm so over that nickname…" Hakuno pouted slightly. "We're not kids anymore…"
Miyuki smirked teasingly at her cousin, "Aw, but you're still the same adorable Hakunon who always had a cat's curiosity."
"Shut up…"
"You know you love me." Miyuki said with a giggle.
"Yeah, yeah…" Hakuno rolled her eyes.
*DING DONG!*
"Huh?" Miyuki blinked in surprise at hearing the doorbell. "Who could that be?"
"Hello? Oh my! And what can I do for you?" The cousins heard Miyuki's mother speaking. "Oh, let me call her. Miyuki! A cute, handsome boy is here to see you!"
"Oho~ Miyuki, you finally have a boyfriend?" Hakuno wiggled her eyebrows with half-lidded eyes and a sly smile.
"WRONG! YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG!" Miyuki cried out in dismay.
"Miyuki, don't make me come up there and drag you down. Come here and greet our guest!" Miyuki's mother shouted.
Miyuki gave her cousin a warning glare, "Not a word. Got it?" She said before marching downstairs. When she came downstairs, the sight of Aaron Jaeger was what greeted her eyes. The young man was leaning back, trying to get away from Miyuki's mother since she was dangerously close to his face.
"Come on. Tell me how you met my daughter? Are you interested in marrying her? Will I be expecting grandbabies in the future?" Her mother questioned.
"MOM! GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Miyuki shrieked.
"And a good morning to you too…" Aaron deadpanned as Miyuki stomped towards him.
"We need to talk now!" Miyuki demanded as she grabbed him by the wrist and dragged him away.
"H-Hey!"
"Make sure to use safety!" Her mother called out.
"That's not what we're going to talk about, mom!" She shouted as she dragged the boy upstairs, passing by her cousin, who looked at the duo in surprise before they entered her bedroom. She quickly closed and locked the door to keep anyone from getting in.
"Geez, so forceful. I hope you're not about to admit something to me." Aaron jested. "Or make me do something naughty."
"Hell no!" Miyuki snapped. "Anyways, what the hell was that last night?!"
"Wait, what? You remember all that?"
"I… well, sorta…" Miyuki pouted, looking away. "It felt very real, though for some reason, part of me is thinking it was all a dream."
Aaron grimaced, looking away with guilt, "I wish it were a dream." He sat on her bed, ignoring the scattered clothing on the floor. "I had also been hoping that you wouldn't remember because it means you'll know the truth."
"Hold on… so you mean to say… I really died?!"
"Yeah… and let me tell ya… I was not happy." Aaron sighed heavily, having a hand on his face. "I'm sorry, Miyuki. I should've… Getting you involved was my mistake…" He said, remembering the blood that coated his hands when he tried to seal her wound. The thought of the blood on his hands reminded him of… he stopped those thoughts before he got lost in those awful memories again.
"Aaron?" Miyuki murmured.
"I'm sorry Miyuki… I wasn't strong enough to protect you… it's my fault that I-"
"Hey, don't beat yourself up over it!" Miyuki said frantically, waving her arms frantically. "R-Really, don't. The fact that you helped me out is more than enough!"
Aaron chuckled, "And here I thought you hated me." He looked at her fondly. "But look at you now. Fretting over me like a fussy girlfriend."
"Hey, look mister! Our relationship is strictly platonic, got it?!"
"Sure, Miss Tsundere," Aaron smirked. "Convince me next time when you're not wearing clothes that show more skin than cloth."
"My choice in style is none of your business!" She exclaimed with a red blush.
"True, but we're not discussing that. We're discussing how you suddenly came back to life."
"Ah… well…" Miyuki crossed her arms with her head down and eyes closed. "That's… a bit of a problem. I don't remember that part…"
"I witnessed it. You can thank Rias Gremory for bringing you back to life." Aaron told her. "But you're no longer human."
"Huh? Rias… senpai?" Miyuki looked at him confused. "Rias saved me? How? And… no longer human?" She asked, looking at herself. "But… I look human."
"Let me ask you something. Did you feel any different this morning?" Aaron inquired, looking at the girl stoically. "Any physical weakness? A spike in your senses?"
Miyuki thought about it and realized that when she opened the blinds, the sunlight made her feel weaker. "Now that I think about it… the sun made me feel a bit… dizzy for whatever reason…"
"That proves it then. Miyuki… you're a Devil now." Aaron revealed the truth to her.
…
…
…
…
"…Eh?"
A/N: And that's the end of the chapter. No action in this one but it will definitely come in the next chapter.
In case you're wondering something, Aaron would have recognized Rias the first time but would you recognize someone you haven't seen in years? I know I sure wouldn't and trust me, I've met old friends and schoolmates that looked different than what I remember.
Now in the case of Hakuno, she's female and she definitely will get her Servants. Two of which, you know she's gonna have big time.
Next chapter, Miyuki comes to terms with her life as a Devil and later down the line meets an angelic girl and a mad priest. Aaron finally meets Hakuno, who has a secret of her own.
