Hey everyone! Just had another idea for a Marina story. Enjoy!
"All I need in this life of sin….." Maya hummed as she zipped up her suitcase and closed it. The last year, with Covid had been so hard, but, in some ways it was a bit of a blessing for the high strung blonde and her beautifully olive-skinned girlfriend.
Covid had essentially forced Maya and Carina to move in together, and both of them were relishing the time they had. But, now, with both of them fully vaccinated and thankfully with some of the dust settling with Andrea, and with Gabriella gone, Maya and Carina had carved out ten days where they would vacation together. Not only were they vacationing, but they were going to New Zealand - a place that handled covid better than so many other countries, and was also someplace that both of them wanted to go.
Maya's running had never brought her to Australia or New Zealand, and she was SO happy to go. Carina was more well traveled internationally than Maya, but she also had never been there, so, once they were fully vaccinated, they decided to just do it.
Maya's anxiety was running pretty high as she had never done anything like this. This was all so new to her - living with a significant other, trusting them, and now traveling to a far exotic place, but, even though she was very anxious, she was so excited to do this and embark on this journey with Carina.
As Maya finally finished packing, she checked her watch, and saw that their flight to LA was scheduled to leave in two and a half hours, and Andy would be by any minute to pick them up. Even with packing, Maya was weirdly competitive, getting hers done before her girlfriend, but, carina cared much more about her outfits and such than Maya did, so, it all evened out.
Maya checked her watch again, starting to get nervous, but, as soon as she did that, she heard a knock on their door.
"Are you ready?" Andy asked as Maya let her in. "I am, but someone is taking forever finishing packing," Maya joked. Just as she said that, Carina came out of the bedroom, with two small suitcases in tow.
"We're only going for eight days," Maya said as she noticed Carina's luggage. She honestly didn't have that much more than Maya did, but, Maya loved to nudge her beautiful girlfriend.
"Trust me, there is stuff in these bags you will be very glad I packed," Carina said, giving Maya an eye. Andy then rolled hers.
"Can we please go?" Andy said, slightly joking.
"Yes," Carina said, grabbing both of their passports and handing Maya hers.
As they loaded into Andy's car, both of them really couldn't believe they were doing this. They put their masks on and made their way fifteen minutes to the airport, getting there in plenty of time, which obviously made Maya happy as she was early for everything she did.
"OK guys, have a good time!" Andy said through her mask. "Take so many pictures, and Carina, make sure this one does not contact the office unless it's to brag about how much fun you two are having."
"Oh, I will make sure she doesn't do anything work related," Carina said. "This trip is just about us."
Andy finished helping them with their luggage, and then got in the car and drove off. Check in went smoothly, as they got their tickets for LA, and they would get their tickets to Auckland once they were in LA, as they had booked two different flights. Getting to Aukland from Los Angeles was easier than getting there from Seattle, so that's how they decided to do it.
They made it to the gate with ease, and as they sat - masked up, Maya leaned her head on Carina's shoulder.
"I can't believe we're doing this," Maya said. "I'm so happy. I can't wait to be there with you."
"Me neither," Carina said. "And wait, have you ever traveled with a girlfriend before?"
"No, not at all," Maya said. "You are the first person I've ever loved, and the only person I've ever thought about doing something like this with," Maya said. "You really are the greatest thing to ever happen to me."
"Anche ti," Carina said. "I have traveled once with a girlfriend before, but, nothing like this. I can't wait"
Maya pulled her mask down, and then kissed Carina who did the same. She really couldn't believe how far they had come. From that horrible night with Jack, where Carina had waited for her all night, and Maya had literally broken her heart, to this, being on the verge of traveling to the other side of the world together.
The attendants called the groups for boarding, and the two of them were up and on their way. As they scanned their tickets, Maya put her arm around her taller girlfriend's waist and said, "We're really doing this…?"
"Si," Carina responded. "We really are."
