Chapter 22 is here!

Manofsteel: Thanks for the reviews! I find it super entertaining to hear your thoughts as you go through each chapter! Keep doing it! Makes me look forward to every weekend!

IDK-No, Murtagh and Kayla saw each other about two months before Murtagh arrives at Mount Arngor. It has been two years since Kayla was injured and since Arya and Eragon have seen each other. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks to everyone who reviewed!

Hope you guys like the chapter!

Arya's POV

"They are coming, be ready

-Unbroken"

Arya had pondered the meaning of the five words for weeks. The note had been on her nightstand when she woke one morning. She didn't know anyone who went by the name Unbroken and she wasn't sure if it was a warning or a threat. Who was coming? Be ready for what?

To late she understood it was a warning

As she lay on her back in the middle of her destroyed house, she cursed herself for being so stupid.

"I should have told Eragon" she thought regretfully as three swords were lowered to her throat

Assassins had struck in the middle of the night while she slept. She had killed one but was hopelessly outnumbered.

As she lay on the ground, she felt Firnen's desperation to get to her. He was close, but not close enough to save her.

Arya found she was surprisingly unafraid. She knew she was about to die and she began closing her mind to Firnen to ensure his survival once she passed on.

Arya watched as a fourth figure entered the room dressed in the same black clothes and mask.

The figure removed their mask and Arya gasped in shock

Kayla stood in front of her with a grim expression on her face

"How did she survive?" Arya wondered briefly

before she heard a voice shout behind her

"ARYA!"

She turned slightly and saw Eragon through her scrying mirror. He looked terrified and desperate with tears streaming down her face.

They met eyes and Arya felt at peace, silently thanking the universe that she was able to see Eragon one last time before she died.

"I love you" She mouthed has a heard a sword be drawn in front of her.

She was determined for Eragon to be the last thing she saw in this life, but Kayla had other plans

Eragon shouted as Kayla swung her sword and the mirror shattered, erasing the image upon it.

Slowly Arya turned back to Kayla

Kayla looked fierce and determined as she met eyes with Arya. Her mouth formed a thin line and her face was an emotionless mask.

"Go on then" Arya said calmly "Take your revenge. I only ask you make it quick"

Kayla's sword rose to meet the other three at Arya's neck

"You have put me through the worst pain anyone ever has before and yet I stand before you unbroken"

Kayla's eyes flashed at the last word

Arya stared for a moment before it clicked in her head

"It was you!" She said angrily

Kayla studied her for a moment

"It was, but you misunderstand Drottning, it was no threat"

Kayla turned and decapitated the first assassin before they had a chance to react and was able to shove back two others before they could overcome their shock.

Arya simply sat in shock

"Kayla is trying to…..save me?"

Kayla was in the middle of a sword fight with one of the assassins. It was going poorly. It was clear she was slower than she had been before being injured.

Arya was shaken out of her haze by an arrow that embedded itself into her thigh

She screamed in pain and quickly stood and received a sword from the fallen assassin. The second assassin threw his bow aside and drew his sword.

Arya's world became a series of parries and blows. Arya was the better fighter, but her injury was slowing her down greatly. She injured the assassin on the shoulder but was mostly on the defensive. She was slowly backed into a corner along with Kayla as they continued to fight desperately. That was when Firnen decided to introduce himself. The roof of the building was ripped off and Firnen's head shot down and devoured one of the assassins. The other attempted to run but Kayla drew a dagger and threw it into the man's back.

"Why has no one else come to help?" She asked sharply

"It seems there is a spell placed around the house. I could not hear you until I was directly over the house"

Arya nodded and fell to her knees as her adrenaline faded and the pain began to increase. Firnen circled his body protectively around her and stared fiercely at Kayla.

"Be careful of your next words elf for they could be your last"

Kayla slowly lowered her weapons and spoke

"You must let me help her or all our actions will be for nothing"

Arya sat down

"This injury is not life threatening, why would it all be for nothing?"

Kayla stared at her with dislike

"That arrow is coated in diluted dragons' blood. It is one of the most dangerous poisons in the world and is extremely rare. It is undetectable and unlike most poisons it lies dormant for days or weeks. It kills slowly and painfully. If there is a cure I do not know of it"

Arya sat for a moment thinking but Firnen spoke

"Why should we believe you! You have done nothing but cause my rider pain!"

Kayla smiled

"May I remind you I just saved your rider from certain death?"

Firnen snarled

"One good deed does not make up for a lifetime of bad ones"

"You are correct dragon, but right now she will die unless we find a way to help her"

Arya spoke

"Tell me again in the ancient language and I will believe you"

Kayla smiled and in the ancient language told Arya about the poison that was coursing through her

"What do you intend we do about it?" Arya asked groaning in pain

"First, we remove the arrow in your leg and bandage you, then we get to Mount Arngor as fast as we possibly can and hope one of the Eldunari know something we don't. We need to move quickly, Every second counts"

Kayla slowly approached Firnen who eyed her the whole way

"Let her through Firnen, there is little she could do to make this worse"

Firnen reluctantly opened his wing and Kayla moved toward Arya.

Arya shook in pain as Kayla straightened her injured leg and spoke with a small smile

"This is going to hurt…. A lot"

"Your happy about it aren't you" Arya groaned again

"A little" She admitted "But I will not do anything to make this process worse, I swear it"

"Just start" Arya said impatiently, already preparing for the pain that was about to follow

Kayla reached down and grasped the shaft of the arrow

Arya felt her began to pull and she screamed. Pain shot through her so intensely that she saw spots in her vison and then she fell into blackness.

Kayla is….. well not good but not terrible either I guess!
