RORY: I will try my best - what's up?
AMANDA: Leo and I made plans to have a movie night this Saturday, but Charlie Thompson just asked me out for that night
RORY: what?! Charlie from the marching band?
AMANDA: yep, he plays the tenor sax. Cute, right?
RORY: I give him a solid 7.5 out of 10
RORY: do you like him?
AMANDA: I don't know. He's nice.
RORY: where would you be going?
AMANDA: the fall carnival with some other marching band friends of ours. But they're all couples, which gave me the idea that he was asking me out instead of just asking me to tag along
RORY: wow. Major. Did you tell Leo yet?
AMANDA: about to. That's why I asked for your help! Should I go?
RORY: I think you should go, but Leo might not take it well. Make sure to reschedule with him, so that he doesn't feel snubbed.
AMANDA: good advice :)

AMANDA: Leo? If I told you I won't be able to make the movie night this weekend anymore would you be mad at me?
LEO: no…why? Everything ok?
AMANDA: yeah, it's just Charlie Thompson asked me out to the carnival with our friends that night (Charlie from the marching band). It's the last night it's in town and I've never been asked out before, and I really want to go. Can we do the movie night next weekend?

ANNABELLE: holy smokes, brave guy. I was always wondering who would be the first
RORY: what's that supposed to mean?
ANNABELLE: you know exactly what it's supposed to mean
RORY: yeah
ANNABELLE: it's not over yet
RORY: obviously
ANNABELLE: but do you really think they'll get there on their own?
RORY: they will
RORY: wait and see…

LEO: is she going?
RORY: she wouldn't cancel plans with you if she wasn't
LEO: how'd you know she cancelled?

RORY: and you be patient. She'll come around.
LEO: huh?
RORY: never mind

DAVID: what's up with Leo? He texted me in a panic at 3 in the morning about Amanda and Charlie Thompson but his phone died halfway through his rant.
RORY: we're in homeroom, hamburglar…
DAVID: yeah I know, but you'll take care of it? I want no part in this
RORY: can't guarantee anything, but I will do my best

AMANDA: I'm going out with Charlie Thompson this Saturday!
STEPHANIE: you are?! Since when?
STEPHANIE: why have you stopped telling me things?!
STEPHANIE: Charlie from the marching band?
STEPHANIE: are you texting me in homeroom?
AMANDA: yesterday, no I haven't, yes, and yes but that's not important
STEPHANIE: what did Leo think?
AMANDA: I don't know, he's not responding to any of my texts
AMANDA: and why does everyone care so much what Leo thinks about all this?
STEPHANIE: because you two have been best friends since we were all in diapers (minus the year of the fight, obviously) and now you have a DATE. It's kind of a big deal.
AMANDA: why? Leo and I aren't a couple, you know that
STEPHANIE: it's still a big deal, Amanda, believe me. Just wait and see what I mean
STEPHANIE: omg mr. tevins just called me out for texting, ttyl

LEO: my phone died, sorry for not getting back to you. I forgot
AMANDA: come on Leo, don't lie to me. you've been avoiding me and I want to know why
AMANDA: if it weirds you out that I'm going out with Charlie just say so
LEO: it doesn't.
LEO: I'm happy for you.
AMANDA: I feel like you don't mean that
LEO: well I'm not not happy. I know this is important to you, so it's important to me.
AMANDA: then why are you avoiding me?
AMANDA: we're not going to fight, Leo. I won't let that happen. We both know better.
LEO: I don't think I can explain it all right now. And for the record, we're not fighting
LEO: let's do the movie next weekend. I'll make sure to restock on M&Ms :)
LEO: have fun on Saturday.

RORY: why'd you turn him down?
AMANDA: he could have been a 12 out of 10—I'm not ready to "go out" with anyone
RORY: I know exactly how you feel
RORY: and you're cool with it? He's cool with it?
AMANDA: haha, yes, we're all cool with it
RORY: see? I told you everything would work itself out
AMANDA: When did you say that?
RORY: OK, well, maybe I never said it. But I was definitely thinking it.

RORY: she cares, more than she realizes she does. always has.
DAVID: mhmm okay...I'll go ahead and pretend like that makes sense

RORY: I have a feeling
