Chapter 4. This is going to be a unique one. It's going to address what happened in 3, as well as truly introduced the female protagonists, as well as begin to build the major foundations of the group of friends that will form around our group of 4 main characters. (Izuku, Bakugo, Jiro, and Shiozaki if that wasn't already obvious.)
Now, reviews!
losteverything: Thanks. Hope this chapter stacks up to your expectations.
GodsReader15: Thank you. I do try
Wade Stormbow: Oh. Well, thanks for clearing up the confusion. Hard to tell what others mean over text sometimes. To address the questions about my changes, the way I plan to do 1-A and 1-B is going to be unique, to say the least. I've only ever seen it done in one other story, so I hope I can actually pull it off without the whole thing being too confusing. As for changing quirks, nothing really. Maybe some minor applications changes, but not much else. As for the deletion of Mineta...not right now. Maybe a bit later.
AtlasWhrighte: Nope. He's not gonna turn into a fallen angel. Probably. Not quite sure yet.
enemywolfpack24: Thank you, and I hope you like this one.
Shin: So, right out the bat, I am a Christain, so I have at least some idea of Shio's faith, and I intend to address it at one point of the story or another, with how Shiozaki both practices and follows her faith. Also, a good Shiozaki fic is Forest Fire by RedFlowerInk. It's Shiozaki x Bakugo, and honest-to-god one of best fics I've ever read. Emerald Forest by Akeen Carter for your IzukuxShiozaki needs, personally. Actually, pretty much everything by AkeenCarter. Moving on, the way Shiozaki reacts to Izuku will be both serious, and played slightly for laughs, at least initially. But again, most of that will be addressed as the story goes on. And, as for your second prediction, you are dead on the money. Well done. As for the super-move idea...Yeah, now I'm gonna do that.
"Do you have everything, sweetie?" Mom asks as I move down my stairs, dressed in the U.A. uniform. The blue-green pants are a tiny bit short on me, but unless we have uniform inspections, it's not gonna matter. Adjusting the jacket on my back a bit, I pull at my tie, which I hate with the very fiber of my soul.
"Yeah, I got all of it," I say, as I pat at the bag in my hand, which has my laptop, as well as a few other things inside that I'm gonna need for school. Binders, pencils, pens, a calculator, etc. I sling the bag over one shoulder, which is pretty much the only way I can carry it. Wings make it hard to wear a backpack properly.
"Okay, good. Well...good luck, baby. Be a good kid, and please don't get into any fights on the first day, okay?" Mom says, smiling at me, and I nod, smiling back at her.
"Yes, Ma'am." I say, giving her a two-fingered salute.
"Izuku! If you get in a fight, you better win, or I'm disowning you!"
"HISASHI!" I hear Mom shouting at Dad as I step out my door, and see Bakugo standing there, tie-less, but other than that, wearing the uniform how it should be.
"What'd your dad do?" He asks as we start walking towards the train station.
"Told me if I got into a fight, I better win, or I'm getting disowned," I reply, and Bakugo barks out a laugh.
"That tracks. You're in 1-A, right?" Bakugo asks, and I nod
"Yessir."
"I still don't get how you beat me in the practical. The academic I expected, but come on. 103 points? What the hell?" Bakugo groans, and I shrug
"I don't do the grading, Bakugo. That's not me. I just did what I did." I reply, and Bakugo glares at me.
"You beat me by 12 points. How did you even manage that? You're not nearly as good in combat as me, especially not against those robots."
"I did get fewer villain points. 58 to 91, right? I just 45 rescue points, while you got zip, Bakugo." I reply
"No need to rub it in. You just saved one girl, and got so many more points for it, huh? Fricking lucky ass motherfucker." Bakugo mutters as we make our way through the masses of the train station, and eventually onto the train.
"Excuse me for being a decent human being," I reply, and Bakugo scoffs
"Heroes need to be strong, able to take out anything in our path. Not worrying about who can't take care of themselves." He says
"Bakugo, that's kinda what heroes do. We protect those who can't protect themselves." I reply
"Not other heroes." Bakugo snaps, and I sigh
"Maybe not always, but we still have to do that. If a villain kills a hero or a civilian..."
"No mercy," Bakugo says
"...No mercy," I repeat as the train starts up.
At U.A.
"Why the hell would you even need doors this big?" Bakugo asks as he looks up at the 15-foot door to our homeroom, Class 1-A.
"Inclusivity? Not everything is as short as we are. I've seen some tall mofos." I shrug, as I move to open the door. Grabbing the handle, I pull it open the door, which moves much easier than I expected.
I step into the room, and I'm instantly confused. The classroom is twice the size of the one I took the written test in. It's much longer than the other room, at the way the classroom is set up is certainly unique. The teacher's desk, which for some reason, is enormous.
Looking around at the student's desk, of which there are 40, I spot three students already there.
One is the blue-haired boy from before, who gives me a slightly annoyed expression, which I simply return with a sharp glare. He holds my gaze for a few seconds, then looks away. I know the kid had super-speed of some kind, considering how I saw him zip around during the practical.
The second figure is a raven-headed boy with red eyes, but that's his only visible mutation. Unless he can transform, I'm stumped as to what his quirk could be.
The third figure is a girl with a...mature physique, with long, spiky black hair up in a ponytail, and steel-grey eyes that only slightly intimidating. The way she's sitting reminds me of a princess, legs crossed, hands in her lap, all that. Makes me wonder if she came from wealth.
"You recognize any of these kids?" Bakugo mutters, and I nod
"Blue-haired guy. He's some kind of speedster. Seems like a decent guy, a bit stuck up, but alright," I reply, and Bakugo hums
"I recognize bird-head over there. He's got some kind of shadow-quirk thing that he can kinda control."
"Kinda?"
"They argued. Verbally. It was weird. But his quirk is powerful as all get out. I saw him tear a 3-pointer in half with his quirk like it was a piece of paper. Scary motherfucker. Would not want to fight him without a plan," Bakugo explains, as we begin to search the desks, which we have realized are labeled with names.
We find one another's seat fairly quickly, Bakugo being a seat in front of me, and both of us are in the same row, with me being two in front of the girl with the black hair.
As we wait, more kids begin to trickle in. A seemingly normal girl with orange hair. A tall, wide-shouldered boy with glasses, and a somewhat beast-like appearance. A girl with blonde hair and hooves. A girl who is just pink. A whole lotta pink.
I eventually spot Uraraka walking in, and she waves at me as she walks in, and bounces over to me.
"Hey, Midoriya! You passed!"
"Same to you. How many points did you get?" I ask, and she scratches the back of her head.
"I got 53. I just squeaked by, so..."
"But you passed. That's what matters, right?"
"Yeah...I suppose."
"You two are going to blind me with your positivity." Bakugo groans and Uraraka gives him a confused look
"Bakugo, you are one of the few people who could quite literally blind someone, you have no place to talk," I reply, and Bakugo scoffs
"Shut up, nerd."
"Do...do you two know each other?" Uraraka asks, and I nod
"This blond pomeranian-looking asshole is Katsuki Bakugo. He's also my best friend and competitive rival." I say, gesturing to Bakugo, who glares at me in response
"Fuck you too, buddy," Bakugo says, flipping me off.
"Eat shit, bitch," I say, flipping him off as well.
"I...what?" Uraraka asks, thoroughly confused, which is fair.
"Don't worry about it. We'll be like this."
"That's a tad concerning," A familiar, deep voice says, and I turn to see the six-armed boy looking at us
"You know, you are too quiet for someone of your size. Izuku Midoriya." I say, sticking out my hand, which the boy shakes.
"Mezo Shoji." The boy says, and I finally ID how he's speaking. He has a mouth protruding from his arm-appendage thing.
"That's an interesting quirk you got there," I say, letting go of his hand, and the giant of a boy gives a rumbling chuckle.
"That it is. I call it Dupli-Arm. I can create eyes, ears, mouths, and of course, hands, from my arms. Useful for recon, as well as a fight." Shoji says, and I nod
"I can see that. Makes me just how strong you are." I say, and he gives another chuckle.
"Strong Enough, I assure you." He says
"Blondie, you passed." A dry, somewhat tired-sounding voice says, and Bakugo freezes, turning around with a death glare aimed at someone.
"Ears. I'm surprised you passed, considering how I had to save your ass." Bakugo snaps, and I turn to look at who's speaking too.
A short, lithe girl with purple hair and the same colored eyes, wearing a vest instead of the normal blazer for the uniform. I can tell what her quirk is in an instant, with two amp jacks attached to what looks like wires made of skin curling from her earlobes.
"I'm surprised they let you in with that attitude. Oh, hey Shoji." The girl says, waving at the giant, who gives her a nod.
"Jiro. Good to see you here." He says, and I raise an eyebrow
"This was the classmate you told me Bakugo about, huh?" I ask, and he nods
"Indeed. That's Kyoka Jiro." He says, and the girl gives a two-fingered salute
"That's me. So...blondie, you're Bakugo?"
"Katsuki Bakugo, dead on the money. I'm Izuku Midoriya, that's Ochaco Uraraka." I say, jabbing a thumb at each person as I introduce them.
"Hi!" Uraraka peeps and Jiro smiles at her
"Finally, another girl. We don't need any more testosterone in here." She says
"I resent that statement," I say, and Jiro raises an eyebrow
"What you gonna do about it, bird boy?"
"I dunno. I'm still thinking about that. I'm probably strong enough to throw you out a window, but that's a bit excessive." I mutter, trailing off
"Maybe don't get into an altercation on the first day of the academic year?" The black-haired girl a few seats back says, and everyone turns to look at her
"Hmmm. Fair point. Truce?" I ask, looking at Jiro, who shrugs.
"Sure. Hey, what's your name?" Jiro asks, looking at the black-haired girl.
"I am Momo Yaoyorozu. Pleased to meet you all." The girl says, nodding at all of us.
"Yeah."
"Whatever."
"To you as well."
"Nice name! It's so pretty!"
"Another girl, that's good."
"YOU!" A voice shouts, and everyone turns to look at the voice.
It's the vine-haired girl from the entrance exam, pointing a finger at me, her eyes wide and excited
"Uhhhhhhhh...whaddya want?" I ask, as the girl rushes over to me, and grabs both of my hands much to everyone's shock.
"Have you been sent here to test me? Or call me to something higher? Am I being given a sign?" The girl asks, almost too fast for me to keep up.
"What, hold up, sent by who?"
"Our Lord and Savior of course!"
"...Who?"
"God! The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!"
"Uhh...no? I'm just confused, let's introduce ourselves first, huh? I'm Izuku Midoriya. You are?"
"Ibara Shiozaki!" The girl says, her dark green sparkling as she stares at me.
"Okay. Shiozaki, what exactly are you talking about?" I ask, and she frowns a tiny bit
"I'm asking you if you were sent down from the Heavens to act as a guide to me and others!" She says, and I just stare at her blankly, letting the gears in my brain turn a bit.
"Wait. Do you think I'm a literal Angel? Like, from Christianity?" I ask, and she nods vigorously
"Of course! This is how angels have appeared to humans since Mary!" Shiozaki says, and I just continue to stare at her, confused.
"Uh...Hate to break this to you, but I'm not an angel. I just kinda look like one. It's my quirk." I say, and she frowns even more.
"Are...are you sure?" She asks
"Uh, yeah. Pretty sure. I think I would know if I was a messenger sent by God. I'm just some random guy with white wings and a halo for a quirk. Sorry to burst your bubble." I say, and she flushes
"Oh. Well, in that case, I'm...I'm sorry. I acted rudely." Shiozaki says, bowing at the hips.
"Nope. No bowing. I'm fine. It's just a mistake. You're fine." I say, and she slowly straightens.
"Oh...well, if you say so. Actually...didn't you get first in the entrance exam? Your name was number 1." At this point, everyone in the room turns to look at me, wide-eyed
"I mean, yeah. So what?" I ask, looking at my other classmates.
"Dude, you got first place? How the hell did you manage that? I mean you don't exactly have an offensive quirk!" A kid with purple balls on his head asks, staring at me
"I got 58 villain points, and 45 rescue points for saving this one from the 0-pointer," I say, jabbing a thumb towards Uraraka.
"Woah...that's so manly, man!" A kid with spiky red hair says, showing his pointed teeth in a smile
"Woah! I was just gonna say that! Manly!" A kid with grey hair and the biggest eyebrows I have ever seen repeats, and I find myself having a slight sense of deja vu.
"Ignoring that...hold up, who's in the sleeping bag?" I ask, spotting a large yellow lump in a corner of the room, which I swear wasn't there just a second ago.
"Hmph. Impressive." A voice that sounds like it either belongs to a dead man or a man who's tired he should be dead grumbles and the sleeping bag rises, and then unzips, revealing a 6-foot tall man wearing all black clothing with a silver scarf around his neck, and long, black hair.
"I am going to be one of your co-homeroom teachers, Shota Aizawa. You will call me Mr. Aizawa, is that understood?" He asks, and everyone nods.
"Wait...co-homeroom teacher? There's going to be another one?" A girl with short green hair and green eyes asks, and another voice answers her question.
"Indeed. I am that other teacher. My name is Sekijiro Kan, better known as Vlad King." A man with silver hair built like a wrestler steps into the room, wearing a red and grey hero costume.
"Holy hell..." Bakugo mutters as everyone scatters, going to their seats.
"Now, as you can probably guess, this is a large class. The largest in U.A. history, actually. And it's this way for a simple reason. Nezu, the principal, decided to try an experiment within the hero course. He wanted to see if a larger class allowed for higher levels of cooperation, or competition, both while in school and once you become pros." Kan says, and we all look at him, a bit shocked.
"So...this is all for the amusement of a white chimera who has nothing better to do and wants some entertainment?" I ask, and everyone turns to stare at me, a bit shocked I would be so blunt.
"Hmph. I like this kid." Aizawa groans as he stalks over to his desk. And he does stalk, the way he moves. It may look like he's just slowly moving over, but he walks with a very deliberate stride, short and very light like he's ready to leap into a fight at any moment. It's an odd combination with his appearance.
"Well...not exactly, but to an extent, yes. It's not entirely for his amusement, he is genuinely curious." Kan says, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Nezu is a sick man...thing... the point is, he's not exactly subtle or very kind all the time," Aizawa mutters, scratching the back of his head.
"So...again, his amusement," Bakugo notes, and Kan sighs
"No...probably not, at least. Anyway, today we will be going to the opening cere-"
"No, we're not. We are going to do the quirk application test. Screw that ceremony." Aizawa snaps, cutting Kan off, who glares at him.
"You are not going to use that test as an excuse to expel a kid."
"I am not going to expel anyone with potential. Those without potential should be expelled."
"No one is without potential. You can always change, always grow."
"But if you cannot grow in the right way, what is the point of nurturing that growth?"
"Who is to say what way is right?"
"The HSPC."
"I would beg to differ, but fine. I'll cut you a deal. You make take...15 students, no more."
"...Fine. I want the top 10 from the entrance exam and the four recommended students." Aizawa groans and everyone looks around.
Biting the bullet, I stand up, letting my bag rest on the ground.
"You got a uniform for me to change into, sir?" I ask, and Aizawa blinks
"Izuku Midoriya, correct? Placed first on the entrance exam?"
"Yessir."
"Hmph. I have some. The other 13 of you, come on."
"YES SIR!"
Outside
"So...these are the 14 most talented students of the 1st years, huh?" Aizawa mutters, looking around at the group in front of him
Bakugo and I are here, waiting for the whole thing to ramp up.
Yaoyorozu is also here, looking a bit apprehensive.
I see the orange-haired girl from before, looking around as well.
I spot the 'manly' twins here as well, both of them looking ready to go.
Shiozaki is here, giving me random glances as she tries to focus on Aizawa.
A red and white-haired boy with a nasty burn scar stands slightly away from the main group, not looking at anyone but Aizawa.
The tall, green-haired kid from my written exam is here, sending glares my way.
The girl with short green hair and eyes like mine stands with another girl, who has short black hair and a blank face.
A guy with blond hair and no lips stands next to the blue-haired guy.
The final kid is Shoji, standing there silently.
"Apparently so, sir." The blue-haired kid says, adjusting his glasses.
"Hmph. Not that impressive. But anyway, let's get started. Midoriya. Catch." Aizawa says, throwing me a softball. I catch the yellow-green ball, and look at it.
"How far was your baseball throw in middle school?" Aizawa asks
"65 meters," I reply, and he nods.
"We're doing that again. But now you are allowed to use your quirk. Go in that white circle. You must throw it from there, are you are not allowed to leave it." Aizawa says, and I pause for a second.
"As in, no part of my body can cross the white line, or I must stay, feet planted in the circle?"
"Cannot cross the white line."
"Okay..." I mutter, walking over to the circle, making sure I'm dead in the center as I do.
Taking in a breath, I flap my wings several times to gain a height of a few meters, then look at Aizawa
"Do I have a height limit?" I ask, and Aizawa smirks
"However high you want to go." He says, and it's my turn to smirk.
"Perfect," I say, then begin to climb.
I quickly and steadily gain altitude, making sure I stay within the circle as I go higher, much more so than the surrounding buildings. When I'm about 500 meters, I reel my arm back and hurl the ball as hard as I can, watching it fly. Flapping my wings slower, I allow myself to drop towards the ground, landing back within the circle.
"Not bad. Maybe not super creative, but impressive nonetheless." Aizawa says, showing my distance. 578 meters. Not bad, if I do say so myself.
"As you can see, you may use your quirks for this test. I implore you to try your best because I might just give this a grade. Let's get to it. 50-meter dash, let's go." Aizawa says, and we all nod.
The blue-haired kid, who I soon learn is named Tenya Iida destroys this test. His speed quirk puts him on top quickly. Though, the green-haired kid, Togaru Kamakiri, was no slouch either.
In the grip-strength test, Shoji dominates. With an impressive 540 kilos to his name, no one even comes close. The next closest person was the orange-haired girl, Itsuka Kendo.
Standing long jump, most kids do pretty well. About a quarter of us clear the pit entirely. Me, Bakugo, and the green-haired girl, Setsuna Tokage. That girl can split herself into a bunch of pieces. Interesting quirk, to say the least.
Side-steps is another interesting one. The lipless guy, Juzo Honekuni, certainly shows out. He's damn agile if nothing else.
In the ball throw, I place a respectable 3rd. Behind Bakugo, and Yaoyorozu, who somehow makes an air cannon out of her body, launching the ball about 600 meters. Shiozaki comes in right behind me, using her vines as a whip, swinging it around, then launching the ball at a high speed.
The seated toe touch, the boys get their shit wrecked by all the girls, no surprise there. The undisputed winner was the black-haired girl, Yui Kodai, who practically folded herself in half.
Sit-ups go solidly to Me, with Bakugo not far behind. The 'manly' twins, Eijiro Kirishima with red hair, and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, are right behind Bakugo and tie with one another.
In the distance run, I again pull 1st, just flying the entire time. The red and white-haired boy, Shoto Todoroki, isn't bad either, placing third behind Bakugo.
"Not bad. Now, for the results."
1st: Momo Yaoyorozu
2nd: Izuku Midoriya
3rd: Shoto Todoroki
4th: Katsuki Bakugo
5th: Setsuna Tokage
6th: Juzo Honekuni
7th: Iida Tenya
8th: Mezo Shoji
9th: Itsuka Kendo
10th: Ibara Shiozaki
11th: Eijiro Kirishima
12th: Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
13th: Togaru Kamakiri
14th: Yui Kodai
"Not bad, from all of you. You are the best of the best. no doubt about it. However, I will warn you, I will expect more out of all of you, compared to the other students, at least. You may return to class." Aizawa says, striding off.
"...Aight, who are the recommended students? 'Cause, it sure as hell ain't me or Midoriya," Bakugo asks
"I am one," Todoroki says, quiet and ice-cold
"Me!" Tokage says, giving a bright smile
"I am one as well," Yaoyorozu says
"I'm one," Honekuni says
"So I did better than 2 recommended students, huh? I'll take it."
"You placed second in the entrance exam, Bakugo. Really not that much of a surprise."
"Uh, yeah it is! The recommended students are the best of the best." Kirishima says
"No, they're rich, or they have connections," I reply, and everyone turns to stare at me
"What? I'm 99% sure Todoroki is the son of a Pro Hero, Yaoyorozu is obviously the heir to Yaoyorozu Industries, and Tokage and Honekuni are probably in similar boats!" I say
"He's not wrong," Todoroki grumbles
"Midoriya is right. I am the heir to Yaoyorozu industries
"Midnight's my aunt." Tokage shrugs
"My father owns a circuitry company. A large one, at that." Honekuni agrees.
"So...you paid your way in?" Kamakiri snarls
"No. We earned these spots. There were about 20 recommended students who showed up for our exams. We just got the spots!" Tokage defends
"Nonetheless, we have more pressure on us now. We must push ourselves, hmm?" Shoji rumbles, and I sigh
"Seems like it. I don't know about you guys, but I'm looking forward to this year. How 'bout you guys?" I ask, and everyone nods
"Good. Plus Ultra."
"PLUS ULTRA!"
Well, that's another chapter down. We moving right along, huh? Hope ya'll like it.
