Told ya this would be posted quickly!
Enjoy the heartbreak!
The mission was chaos. Almost nothing went right and almost everything went wrong.
But Harry made it to the Burrow. Harry was safe. Hope was alive.
Hermione paced back and forth in the room, waiting desperately for Fred to arrive.
George had come before Fred, missing an ear and unconscious, causing Hermione to only worry about the state that Fred was in.
Finally, he arrived, and immediately went to George. He bypassed Hermione, but she understood. His twin was after his other half.
All that mattered was that he was safe.
Thankfully George woke up and was in good humor, making ear jokes. Relief flooded through Fred, and he finally took a glance at Hermione. He gave her a once over and once determining that she was okay, he returned his attention to George.
As everyone slowly arrived, and everyone tested each other's identities, and as the sun slowly creeped over the horizon, it was determined that Moody would not be returning.
Nobody cared about Mundungus, but Moody, that was a different story. He was gone.
Hermione felt a pang in her heart. He had been one of the strongest among them, and now he was no more. Bill hadn't been able to find his body.
Then Harry went off on a rant about how he was endangering everyone, and how he needed to leave.
After almost having a scream match with Molly, Harry backed down and decided to stay.
Hermione was relieved, she wasn't ready to leave yet, because she would leave with Harry in a heartbeat. When he said it was time to go, she would go. But she wasn't ready to leave Fred yet, but would if she had to.
Things calmed down and fell into a routine after the escape.
Hermione and Fred did chores together just to spend time together. They would sneak out to the garden for a few more stolen kisses and "coincidently" find themselves in the same room alone.
Nobody noticed, and if asked, Fleur gave vague answers about their whereabouts.
The day of the wedding was finally there, and they were both in the wedding parties. Fleur had made Hermione a bridesmaid last minute, and didn't care about her dress not matching. Fleur refused to let something like a red dress distract her from the happiest day of her life.
Fred of course was a groomsman for his brother.
And Fleur arranged it so that they would walk down the aisle together.
After the ceremony, it was time for the reception.
Fred patiently waited for the right time to ask Hermione to dance. He had the perfect moment waiting for him.
He was giving her time with friends she wouldn't see for a long time, like Luna Lovegood.
Fleur came up to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
He turned to face her.
"It's time, it's up next." She whispered to him.
Fred gave her a smile and nodded, "Thank's Fleur."
She nodded and returned to her new husband.
Fred looked for Hermione and found her by the refreshment table. He approached her and bowed, holding out his hand.
"May I have the next dance?" He asked.
Right as that, the crooning of Etta James' "A Sunday Kind of Love" drifted through the air. Hermione held back a squeal, trying not to embarrass herself.
She took his hand and Fred led her out to the middle of the dance floor where they began a slow waltz.
Eyes turned towards them and the entire Weasley clans, things suddenly made sense.
How the two would do chores together, how they would conveniently be gone at the same time. A few Weasleys remembered how they almost caught them, finding them flustered in closets.
Ron felt a pang of jealousy, but it disappeared when he saw how Hermione was looking at his brother. With pure and complete adoration.
Fred spun her around and when she was back to face him, he pulled her in close and they swayed together to the music slowly, her head on his shoulder, just resting. It was the calm before the storm.
Once the song ended, they received the patronus from Kingsley.
"THE MINISTRY HAS FALLEN. SCIMGEOUR IS DEAD. THEY ARE COMING." called the silvery lynx.
Hermione left Fred's embrace, snatched her bag off a chair, grabbed Ron and Harry's hands, and with a morose look at Fred, they disapperated.
