Chapter 2:
Many years ago. Humanity went through an evolution. The first recorded cases of super powered individuals were reported. Then all across the world, powers became more common. We began calling these strange powers, quirks. Then, like wildfire, they spread through the entire world. Now it's is believed that almost 90% of the world's population has some kind of quirk. Almost overnight, the supernatural became the totally normal. However, there remained a few who were born without a quirk, called the quirkless. I would know about them because I used to be one of them.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, and this is how I became the worlds greatest hero. But you already know that story. You know about how I inherited the quirk One for All from my idol, All Might. You know how I went to UA to train to become a hero, and how I became the number one hero in the world. However, in life, you never know what your future may hold so this is not the story of how I became the worlds greatest hero. Instead, this is the story of how a new generation became something greater.
My Hero Academia Next Generation: New Heroes:
Hana POV:
"So why are we here?" Yuko asked me as we began to walk through the wide glass doors of the "Deku Hero Agency". Deku had told me to meet him here after I had agreed to be his successor. He had set up a meeting so that we could talk about me becoming his apprentice. Oddly enough, he had asked me to bring my little sister Yuko. I had been hesitant since that meant I would have to bust out the wheelchair I had "borrowed" from a local hospital. But I figured since I couldn't just leave her back at the house all day, I might as well bring her.
"I told you, Mr. Deku wanted to meet with us again… about hero stuff." I calmed her worried mind as I pushed her along. Taking one look around, I was instantly made aware of how out of place we were. I didn't really have any "nice clothes" so I just wore my leather jacket with ripped jeans and a t-shirt. The entire agency was swarmed with businessmen and women in suits and heroes in their costumes. I tried to keep a low profile as I just wheeled my sister over to the elevator. He had told me to meet him on the top floor. I heard Yuko gulp, signaling her nervousness too.
"It's okay." I affirmed her as I realized we were attracting a lot of attention. We were able to make it onto one of elevators with attention being drawn to us. I furiously clicked the door close button, understanding that that would be a very awkward elevator ride.
"Hold the door!" I cursed as a hand came in between the closing doors and what looked like a hero came in. He had a relatively causal attire. I guess it could be his hero costume, but it was just a trench coat and a pair of jeans. Looking over at us he chuckled a little on a account of our casual attire and my sisters wheelchair bound body.
"And who might you be" the mysterious hero asked both of us as he leaned down to speak to us. He smiled a bright smile showing off his pearly whites.
"Whoa, you're Omega!" Yuko almost screamed as she recognized the hero. The man smiled brighter and I felt oddly safe after my sister's reactions.
"That would be me." He extended his hand to Yuko, as a gesture of goodwill. "And you are."
Sidekick: Yoshi "Omega" Aizawa: Son of Shota Aizawa! His quirk-Eraser! Much like his father, Yoshi can temporarily erase other people's quirks. But he must make skin to skin contact for his quirk to activate. The longer he touches someone, the longer their quirk will be erased!
"Oh, I'm Yuko! And this is my Sister, Hana!" My sister happily delivered this stranger all our information.
"Well, it's nice to meet you Yuko!" Omega said as they finally began shaking hands, Yuko giggling from getting to meet this hero. Before we could say anything further, the elevator came to a stop and the silver doors opened.
"This is where I get off." He stated as he climbed out of the elevator, but not before looking back at us to say one final thing.
"Oh, and remember to, Go Beyond, Plus-" however he was cut off as the doors closed before he could deliver the final line. I lightly laughed at this timing error, in truth, I'd always hated that stupid school yard motto. The rest of the ride was rather silent, other than Yuko overreacting at meeting another hero.
"I can't believe he shook my hand!" She squealed while looking back down at the hand the sidekick had shook.
"Yeah, that's crazy." If there was a way to verbally roll your eyes, I just did it. Luckily, my sister was too distracted to notice my tone. Thankfully, we reached the top floor in no time.
"Whoa!" As we both stepped out onto the top for of the agency, we gawked at seeing Deku's office floor. It looked like something you would see in a mansion owned by a celebrity. Firstly, it was huge, having marble floors, freshly cleaned windows and even a koi pond in the middle of the lobby. There was a conjoining room separated by a set of glass doors that had a bed and serval other features in it. We walked across a little bridge over the fishpond, Yuko looking down at the fish and grinning like a fool. The whole room looked like it was practically sparklingly, like someone was constantly dusting and cleaning. I couldn't see a single spect of dirt or filth anywhere. There was even a balcony on the opposite end of the room by his desk. This was peculiar because I don't remember seeing a balcony when we were walking up.
"Good you made it!" I recognized Deku's voice as we made it over to where his desk was. "I was beginning to get worried you were lost."
The hero stood up tall in his nice suit as it appeared, he had just finished signing some papers. "Come and sit." He gestured to a set of couches by his desk.
As we sat down, I couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. Where I come from there's an expression. "Never be the Lobster." AKA- Don't be the one getting buttered up.
"It's nice to see both of you again!" the pro hero said cheerfully as he shook both of our hands, Yuko looking positively thrilled at see the hero again. We both sat in opposite sides of the room, Yuko, and I on one couch and Deku on another.
"Now, before Hana and I can begin our business. I have a surprise for you." He pointed to my little sister, who looked like she was about to explode from excitement.
"Me!" she almost screamed, I smiled at realizing this was like a dream come true for her.
"Yes! Come on out!" He turned back over to where the balcony of his office was and out from a separate hallway, came a strange face, mainly because it was pink.
"Excuse me, but I would like you two to meet a good friend of mine, Mina-" Deku didn't even get to finish his introduction of the acid throwing heroine, since Yuko shrieked.
"AHH, YOU'RE PINKY!" She screamed at seeing the alien queen herself.
"Yes, yes, I am." Mrs. Ashido commented back, very goofily. I imagined she was used to crazy fans.
"You're like my favorite heroine!" My sister exclaimed again, getting further riled up and shaking in her wheelchair.
"Well, I'm flattered." Pinky appeared to just be soaking up the attention, as most pros often do.
"You're like, so cool and-" Yuko got so excited she tried to stand up on her legs, momentary forgetting her condition.
"Ahh!" She screeched out in pain as she attempted to stand, forgetting that her legs were bird talons. This caused her legs to buckle under her weight and to trip.
"Oh, are you okay!" Mrs. Ashido ran over to Yuko and tried to make sure she was okay, likely just a heroine's instinct.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay." The little girl affirmed them as she sat up but looked down solemnly as she realized her freakish legs were now exposed. It didn't help that the pink heroine, began to stare at them. I grew worried, and hastily grabbed the blanket she had been using to hide her legs. However, before I could cover her legs.
"Whoa, that's such a cool quirk!" Pinky chirped up causing me to stop in my tracks. I didn't know if I should feel insulted or thrilled. But the one thing I did feel, was confused.
"What?" I asked stupidly, not fully understanding what she had just said.
"Your quirk, is it like animal limbs or something?" She asked again as she moved down to touch and caress Yuko's bird legs. This was a response I never thought I would hear, so I just stood there, mouth agape. Luckily, for the first time, my sister wasn't the one being awestruck.
"Um, I don't really know." Yuko explained, looking a little confused. But she was able to compose herself enough to continue. "I just woke up one morning, and bam, hooves."
"So, Deku was right… it's some kind of transformation quirk." Pinky looked back over to the green-haired hero who was standing behind his hero friend. I was finally able to compose myself enough to ask the reason for all this interest in my sister's quirk. "I'm sorry, but what are you talking about."
Mrs. Ashido just laughed. "Did you really think this meeting was just about you?" She rhetorically asked. In a moment of insight, it all came to me. The reason for my sister and Mrs. Ashido's presence.
"Hm, training huh?" I lackadaisically said as both the heroes nodded. I remembered what Deku had said yesterday, I knew he was a hero, but I didn't think he would be willing to go out of his way to help Yuko like this.
"Hana. What are you guys saying?" The little raven-haired girl asked as we'd kinda forgotten about addressing the girl we were talking about.
"Well, Pinky here. Well, she's gonna try and help you." I explained to her and she was a little confused as to what I meant.
"Help? With what?" She was still so innocent; she probably didn't even think there was more to her quirk.
"With your quirk of course." Mrs. Ashido stepped in and spoke to my sister as she sat down next to her on the floor.
"Oh, I'm sorry, but it's nothing like yours. It's not cool or anything." Yuko solemnly resigned herself as she stared down at the polished tile floors.
"Well, that's because you can't control it." The pink heroine was not at all phased by what the little girl had said. She just lightly reached down and put her had under my sister's chin to look the young girl in the eyes. "It controls you."
"Here, why don't you try and make your legs go back to normal." Pinky told Yuko as she looked a little scared, after having watched all this, I designated to step aside, trusting my sister would be in good hands. "So, we can walk out of here properly."
"I don't know, I-I've just always been scared." Yuko voices her concern, and I was a little worried we were pushing her too hard. However, the wise heroine spoke up before I could ask them to stop.
"What's there to be afraid of, after all this is your power." She explained this which caused my sister to perk up a bit. "Alright, lets see what you've got."
Yuko shakily nodded and began wincing as her legs began to move. The sharp talons opening and closing as she attempted to manipulate her legs to return to normal. However, after a couple of grunts and lurches of the bird legs, she made one final grunt as her legs went still and appeared to give up.
"I'm sorry. I'm just not strong enough." She looked like she was about to cry as she resigned herself to defeat.
"It's got nothing to do with strength. You see these" Mrs. Ashido then gestured to her talons. "There like any other muscle in the body they can be controlled with enough practice."
"But I'm trying as hard as I can and just. Nothing." Yuko seemed on the verge of giving up if she hadn't already given up.
"Then don't try so hard." Even I was confused by what the heroine was saying. "A wise person once said, you can't beat a river into submission, you have to learn to surrender to the current."
My ten-year-old sister blankly stared up at the heroine, confused about what she had just said. Instantly, Mrs. Ashido has realized her mistake. "Just, go with the flow."
"Try and not think as hard, instead feel it out." The alien queen explained as Yuko finally began to understand what the hero was talking about.
"Okay, one more time!" Pinky said excitedly as she stood back up to give the little girl more space. Yuko just nodded and began to relax.
Unlike last time she closed her eyes and began to concentrate. There was no more grunting or movement in her legs, instead she remained almost completely still. Making sharp inhales and exhales of deep breaths. Then, miraculously her bird like legs began to shift. The yellow skin folding in on itself and the sharp talons quivering. The three claws broke apart until there were five smaller toes. Yellow rough texture began to disappear as it was replaced with soft white skin. Then both extremities shrank until they looked as normal as mine.
…
I just stood there, stunned. Right before my eyes, my sister had seemingly been cursed. My mouth just hangs agape, I tried to find words, but I could say nothing.
"Okay, you can open your eyes!" Mrs. Ashido almost yelled, sounding like the proudest parent in the world. Then, my little sister's eyes opened, and she seemed even more stunned than I was. She just sat stared at her legs, like she was looking at a long-lost puppy. It was the first time I'd ever seen her speechless.
"How-What-" I incoherently stuttered out as I reached over to touch my sister's new legs. She flinched when my fingers touch her skin, the feeling of human skin probably felt weird.
"How did you-" I managed to choke out as Yuko began moving her legs for the first time in as long as I could remember.
"I didn't do anything." The heroine explained "it was all her."
Yuko's eyes began to tear up as I helped her onto her feet. She had trouble standing at first, I imagined it was like that feeling when one of your legs falls asleep. But eventually we were able to get her to stand up and she fully started sobbing as she stood proudly in front of all of us. As she cried into my jacket, all I could do was look over at Mrs. Ashido and simply say "Thank You."
"Don't thank me just yet. You still have a lot more work to do." As she told us, the heroine looked over to Deku. Almost looking for a sign, to which he lightly nodded, keeping his wide smile.
"What do you mean?" I asked, the shock having left my body.
"Deku didn't tell you?" She countered back with a question as she looked back over to Deku again who was now blushing from embarrassment. I just stood there with the confused look on my face still not comprehending what was about to happen.
"I have taken it upon myself to help train your sister here." Mrs. Ashido explained, though I was still confused about what it was she was saying.
"I'm sorry wait! What is it you want to do with my sister?" I frantically asked as I still didn't understand.
"Well, you see I run a small organization helping young heroes learning to use their quirks-" she further elaborated, and I was starting to get what she was saying, but I interrupted her to say one thing.
"Wait, did you say, heroes?" I her asked aggressively to which the heroine only smiled and nodded. All at once, my sister transformation was the least of my worries.
Pinky and Deku both looked concerned as they could tell I was beginning to lose my temper. "Well, yeah! Your sisters quirk is amazing and-"
"Okay, look." I interrupted the heroine again. I began to get scared that maybe I had overstepped my boundaries, but the look on her face told me she was more concerned than angry.
"Thank you for helping my sister, but she doesn't need to train. She's just ten years old!" I told them my viewpoint and they seemed to understand. Seeing as how Pinky was the one taking the lead, she spoke first.
"Well, your sister's power is very unique and with proper practice she could become a great hero!"
"Wait, no, no, no! You said training! You never said anything about becoming a hero!"
"It is common practice for many pros to make apprentices out of special aspiring heroes."
'She is just a little kid! This life is too dangerous for-"
"I want to do it."
I spun around to see my little sister standing proud. All the child like wonder gone in her face, and Instead of a little girl, she looked like a woman.
"I believe you would fit in just right, but at the end of the day it's your sister's decision." Mrs. Ashido explained as she walked past me to address my sister head on. Then, they both looked at me, understanding that this decision was in my hands.
"Hana, Mrs. Ashido has helped me, and… I don't want to go back to the way things were." Yuko explained sounding very mature.
"Can you please let her help me some more?" She asked me and I knew what I had to do as I gave her a little smile.
"When did you get so smart?" I asked back, as I finally realized that she wasn't helpless anymore. She just smiled at me and lightly nodded.
"Well, I had a pretty awesome teacher." She moved to hug me, and I just embraced her, not caring what was happening around us.
"Well, if that's all settled." Pinky interjected as we separated, and my sister moved over to the heroine's side.
"We should be going." She continued to explain as she began to lead my sister away. I thought of making one last plea for some desperate attempt to stop her, but simply seeing the smile on her face. I knew this would make her happy.
"Come on Yuko! Have you ever heard of the rainy season hero Froppy?" I overheard Mrs. Ashido talking about the hero Froppy as they made it to the elevator too leave. Yuko gave me one last parting look before retreating into the elevator, making sure to give me a big smile which I returned.
After they'd left, it was just me and Deku. We could finally talk. As he stood, he seemed anxious. I think he seemed even more nervous than me.
"So, ahaha, hi again." He awkwardly raised his hand as he waved it side to side. I gave him a deadpanned expression to which he became worried, but I made sure to flash a smile showing that I wasn't mad.
"Hi" I said with a smile, still feeling odd that I had to be the one calming his nerves. He let out a sigh of relief after I smiled back at him and seemed to steady himself, looking less worried.
"It's good to see you again." The symbol of peace calmly said as I blushed a little, still being surprised that THE Symbol of Peace wanted me.
"And I you." I replied trying to sound equally calm. Somehow, we both ended up bowing to each other and It felt nice. However, looking down I was met face to face with the shining polished floor of Deku's office. I wondered how the floor could look so clean and pristine when we had been walking on it the past couple of minutes. That's when an idea began to form in my mind.
"So, this whole place is yours?" I innocently asked as the green-haired man looked a little confused by my question but still answered it non the less.
"Well, yes, being number one has it's perks." He said trying to sound very assured, but I was able to see the small amount of sweat break through the top of his brow. In that moment I knew my suspicions were correct. Before he could say anything further, I made sure to speak first.
"Look Deku, one thing you should know about me, I value honesty and trust." I explained to him, but he didn't seem off put by my words, instead he just nodded his head and smiled.
"That is a very good quality to have." He elaborated further on what I had said but didn't seem to pick up why I was saying this. Looking down at his hands, I could see them shaking slightly as he began to sweat a little more. The room was set to a cool temperature, which meant he wasn't hot, he was nervous.
"This has been fun, but let's end this charade." I told him as I crossed my arms and lost my smile.
"What are you talking about?" He attempted to play dumb, but he was not an exceptionally good actor.
"Oh, please Deku, are you gonna call her or do I have to?" I asked him as he picked up in the fact that I'd caught him. He just let out a sigh as all the tension seemed to be relieved from his body.
"Fine. Okay, you can come out now!" He yelled out into the fancy room as I looked behind me to see a small janitor's closet. I'd paid it no mind when we'd entered. Then the door opened and out stepped… Camie Utsushimi! I was not as surprised as one might be at seeing the illusion casting heroine.
"Oh, Heyy! You must be Hana!" the cheerful Mrs. Bakugou chirped out in her signature happy voice. She made her way over to us and smiled brightly as if trying to hide that she had just been caught hiding in a closet. "I've heard so much about you!"
"Really?" I bluntly asked as I quirked one eyebrow up on my expressionless face, hopping to convey a quizzical yet tired expression. Instead of vocally replying she just comically pivoted on her heels to face the defeated looking hero behind her.
"Just take it down Camie." He told the woman as she spun back around to face me and tried to keep up her happy face but was clearly struggling to maintain it. She then pulled some strange pink gas looking substance from her hand, and before activating her quirk. "Just know it was all Deku's idea."
Camie then blew the gas all around her and into my face. I coughed for a second and blinked fast trying to get it out of my eyes. By the time I cleared the substance from my eyes the entire room had changed. Rather than the floors being pristine and clean they had standard cement tiles. The entire room looked a lot less "shiny". The windows had clear smug mark. The various carpets had dirt in them, and overall, the entire place looked much less flattering. The koi pond and bridge were even gone as well as the separate room with the glass doors, and the balcony.
"How'd you know?" Deku asked me after I'd finished looking around at the drastically different looking room. I also realized that Camie had disappeared, I guessed she had used her quirk to sneak out of the uncomfortable situation.
"The floor was was still sparkling after we'd been walking on it." I explained to him, as he let out a big Oh.
"Also, there was no balcony from the outside." The number one hero looked even more defeated. As I looked back over to where the balcony was, I noticed that the entire separate room had disappeared. All the conjoining hallways too. It just looked like a normal office now.
"I just wanted to put off a good impression." I was pulled back to see Deku. He seemed somehow more nervous. "And maybe test you a little bit."
"I get it." I told him with a smile, which he returned after his little joke. Even though the room didn't look as good, it somehow felt better since I knew it was not being polished for my eyes.
"Speaking of honesty." I was interrupted from my thought, by hearing the smug words from the hero. As I looked at him, his face showed that he was smug and wished to confront me about something. It was an odd smirk; I'd only ever seen him with his bright smile, so I felt uncomfortable seeing his smug smirk.
"You should, know I have studied a lot about the heritability of quirks." He began to explain, and I was confused about why he was bringing this up.
"So, I know, that the odds of two children being born from the same parent." I then got why he was bringing this up, and what honesty had to do with it "And one getting a quirk, and one not, is next to zero."
I laughed as I realized he had caught me; in the same way I had caught him.
"So why don't you tell me who that girl really is." He asked bluntly and I let a smirk through, it was time for the truth.
"All I know is that one day, I was six. And my mom came home with a baby in her arms. She said someone had abandoned her, and she was my sister." I finished telling him my story, as we came to an understanding. "So, she is my sister."
"So she is." He nodded, understanding that regardless of blood, we were still family.
"Well, it's good we're both being honest." Deku was somehow able to defuse all the tension in the room with those simple words. That's when I knew he was going to be a fine mentor.
"Yes, it is." I said stupidly, I didn't know what else to say. I became worried that maybe we had run out of conversation topics.
"And Hana." He pulled me out of my worries. "That's very heroic of you."
"Well, honesty is-"
"Not that."
…
"What happened to your mother?" In any other situation I would have been offended by this question.
"I don't know. She left once day, and never came back." I told him the truth, somehow, I felt safe telling him. By now we'd moved to standing next to each other.
"I'm sorry." The hero tried to help, but I didn't like hearing those words very much.
"Well, I've heard a lot of apologies." I told him coldly. However, when I looked back over at his face, I could see only empathy. It was strange, most stared at me with regret or sadness. Some even pitied me like I was a little lost puppy. It always enraged me. But looking up at Deku, I felt… calm.
Then he hugged me.
I didn't even react at first, I just sat there. I eventually came to my sense and was able to wrap my arms around the man. Einstein was right, time moves at different speed, because that moment… that moment would never end. Just the two of us embracing.
"Okay, okay you can let me go." I told him realizing that we had been hugging for a long time. I lightly pat his back and he broke off from me, keeping his signature smile.
"Thank you." I simply said to him as he continued to smile at me.
"So, Are you ready young Hana Izumi?" Deku asked me as I was shot back to attention by his formal words.
"Yes sir!" After jostling me, I made sure to stand ready and use his formal title.
"Good, because from this day on." He puffed up his chest and spoke in his trademark booming voice. "You are now my successor young girl."
I didn't visibly react except smiling a little more. Because of that we kinda just stood there awkwardly for a few moments until I realized he was waiting for a response.
"Ah, yeah, yay. Sounds good." I awkwardly stuttered out giving him a thumbs up, while he just glared at me liked I'd ruined his big moment.
"Look let's just go." He tried to sound defeated, but I could tell he was still excited. However, when he began to make his way to the exit, I got a little confused.
"Wait, go where?" I asked him frantically to which he smiled and laughed a little at my confusion. "Well, to train of course."
This only confused me more.
"Train? I thought you said was gonna be inheriting your quirk or whatever." I expected some long-winded explanation. Instead, I got a different reaction.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" He burst out laughing like I'd just told him funny joke imaginable. I didn't like people laughing at me, so I got a little offended.
"Oh, young Izumi, you are a long way from being ready for my quirk." He only continued to laugh, which only made me more confused, I guess that was the trend for today.
"What? But I thought you said I was ready to-" Deku cut of my further questioning as he walks over to me and spoke up. "Please, I mean your weak little body."
"If I gave you my quirk now, the amount of power would cause your arms and legs to shoot off!" He explained and I cringed at imagining how painful that would be. "So, before we go any further, we need to prepare your body."
"So, what, I gotta work out or something?" I began to understand more about what the hero was saying but I was still confused.
"Something like that…" For some reason, Deku's voice sounded like it took on a more ominous tone when he said those words. But it was probably just my imagination.
"So, come on! We have a little trip to go on." And just like that, he was back to the smiling happy Deku I remembered. I just nodded at the hero and tried to match his smile, as we made our way over to the less clean looking elevator.

Shiho POV:
"Training. That was the name of the game. From that day at the beach when I realized I was not going to be getting One for All. When I realized I was on my own I knew I was going to need to train twice as hard. However, I couldn't just go pick up trash at the beach anymore. No matter how physically strong I got, there would be no way I could even make it past the entrance exam without a quirk. So, while I made sure to put time out to train my body, I also had to start strategizing."
"You see, there's a reason why there have been no quirkless heroes… it's really fucking hard."
"Even if I were to get some help from support gear, it's not like anything I could make would really be able to compete with someone who could create explosions from their hands, or breath fire. So, how do I create a substitute for a quirk. At first, I thought about trying to augment my body in some way, but I would probably just end up giving myself cancer in the process. Maybe I could make support gear, but I didn't really have the time or resources to make anything other than a potato cannon. Then it hit me when I was looking at a picture on my desk. It was a picture of me and uncle Bakugou when I was little. He took me to a carnival while my parents were away, but that's not what's important, thinking about my uncle I remember his quirk, explosion. That's when I figured it out. Explosion."
"Human's have been using power's for years now, and their called bombs."
"Okay that might seem a little extreme, but I need something to assist me. Of course, there was no way I could just make a bomb at home, no. I need some way to make sure it was safe. That's how I ended up here. At auntie Mei's support agency."
"Both my aunts, Mei and Melissa had always tried to get me to try support studies, on account of my quirkless little body. But I always told them I would be a hero. Nevertheless, I still needed some help. Mei was of course ecstatic when I came by, but I had to end her excitement when I told her I still wanted to be a hero. Deciding to air on the side of caution, I didn't tell her about any of my plans, just that I wanted to learn more about how she designs support equipment, and her "babies". After all, who knows more about explosions than Mei Hatsume."
"We took a quick tour of her facility and I was so surprised by what I saw. The entire building was like a machine. Each worker had their own station to work as they saw fit; they could literally make anything they wanted. Mei explained that she always hated how she was never allowed to create as she saw fit in her school years. Now she just wanted to do that for some kids. That's when I knew I had come to the right place."
"If I could get in on the ground floor, I could start experimenting, and I wouldn't need to worry about legalities because I am working for a support agency. It was perfect. Plus, it's not really "Nepotism" if you're not related to the person. So, let's get to work."
"Obviously, if I'm making bombs… I can't really broadcast that. So, I had to be discreet with what I was creating. The first problem was of course, "How do I create these?" Which was rather easy. Using a plastique like substance, which for some reason they had just sitting around, I was able to mold them into the base model for my explosives. They were also safe because they did not rely on nitroglycerin to catalyze the explosion. Simply adding a wireless receiver was all I needed and bam, my bombs were made. Well, not exactly. You see when I tested about a gram of the substance, I learned why they was so much of it, and why no one else was experimenting with it."
"When I went out to test the bombs with a one-gram sample, I simply put it in a cardboard box and made sure to keep my distance. After I detonated it, I began to get worried because nothing happened. I thought maybe the trigger was faulty or something, but inspecting the box, I realized it had indeed exploded, but the explosion wasn't even enough to rouse the box."
"Mei explained that she had tried to create a safe and nonvolatile explosive compound like C4, but in removing so many volatile elements, she created a substance that wasn't even a bomb. Therefore, she ended up scrapping the project and why there was such an abundance of the plastique just sitting around. So, it was back to the drawing board. Well, not necessarily."
"Thinking about it more, I realized what the problem was, the volatile chemicals. Think nitroglycerin for dynamite. The chemical compound gives it the kick to make it explode, but it also makes it extremely dangerous to handle. So, if I was going to make this work, I was going to need to find a way to reintroduce those chemicals into the plastique. But then that robs the whole point of the safety of the platique. So, how do you make a bomb dangerous, while also making it safe. I threw myself at a wall for weeks trying to come up with a way to fix the compound when it hit me. If the plastique made it too safe, and the chemicals made it too dangerous then I would have to separate the lock from the key. If I could create a nitroglycerin like solution and find some way of introducing it prior to a detonation, then the bombs would only be dangerous when they needed to be."
"That's when I committed wholeheartedly to this new idea. By taking glycerol, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, which were the base compounds of nitroglycerin. I was able to create base nitroglycerin, but rather than adding it to the plastique I put the solution into a small pin. Like this."
I held up the small syringe contains the solution showing it to the camera.
"The good news is, because I separated the compounds, the solution will not be volatile till they are mixed together in the plastique." I waved the pin around showing the liquids sloshing in the syringe.
"Honestly, I don't know why I'm making this video log." I asked the camera lens as I looked around at the training room. It was a quaint little area Mei had cutely named "The Danger Room". Mostly because this was where all the dangerous experiments were tested.
"Auntie Mei said it's best to document my tests, so here we go." I stood up from the desk where the camera was filming and made my way to the center of the room. There was another gram of the plastique in the center of the room only this time a brought over a vial of the solution which I had begun to call "Detonates."
"Okay, this is one gram of plastique." I explained to the camera as I gestured to the bomb. "With one drop of detonate solution."
I used a thimble and picked up a single drop from one of the vials. Then dropped it on to the small ball. The combination of chemicals had turned red and when it made contact with the white block it clearly began to soak into the block. I felt more assured when I saw the bomb begin glowing with a red aura and red veins formed on the small ball. I took a step back and put on a protective mask and kept my distance.
"In three, two, one!" Then I pushed the detonator.
Boom!
When my back hit the wall of the danger room, my entire world went dizzy. My ears were ringing, and I was struggling to remember my own name. However, I was able to get my senses back and I remembered everything had happened. Danger room, plastique, explosion.
As I sat up, I pulled my face mask off and immediately started coughing. The room was practically raining ash and soot as I looked to where the plastique was, all I saw was a big black spot. In fact, my entire body was black, so I brushed myself and stood up. I was still a little dizzy when I stood up, but I was able to make it to the center of the room. It looked like, well it looked like a bomb had exploded.
"Well, that seemed to work." I smiled and laughed at myself in a little bit of a stupor, and maybe a little concussed. I looked over to where the camera was, I addressed the lens. Only to see the desk was completely knocked over. I laughed at myself again.
"Let's, Rock & Roll."
