Long ago, the world was filled with magic. And with magic the gods walked the earth. Beings of power and strength so outstanding that when some of them spoke the earth shook and the skies thundered. These beings weren't like anything in the universe, for the world cowered and deferred to their might wherever they stepped. And whatever land they stepped on they took as their own. the skies and heavens, the seas and oceans, lands of fire and ash, realms of darkness where the dead roam, worlds of light where the day never ends. Wherever they ruled their power was feared and respected.

But only a few were strong or bold to enough to challenge the gods. The Giants and Titans, beings with strength alone are said could surpass the gods. Gargantuan in nature with footsteps that can shake the earth and hands that can shape it. Myths even say they can grow so large their heads touch the clouds.

Demons; bloodthirsty and wicked. Their ways were shadowy and unknowable as they lived in lands of darkness and mist. Some explorers and scholars that venture into their world say that demons feast upon flesh and use blood as their drink. But their hellish magic is known to be the work of evil and the gods are known to be wary of it.

Elves, the lords and ladies of light. The elves are known for their intellectual, philosophical, and technological advancements in society. Scholars even ponder if these advancements should be credited to science or magic, or both. Their society is so advanced they've even created cities made of pure light, mimicking a utopia.

Not to mention the faerie, winged beings whose magic rivals the elves. Typically making civilizations around nature like forests, fields, and among the beasts of the sky and field.

There are other rivals of the gods but there is one that truly stick out of the all the others. One whose very roar put anyone—giant, elf, faerie, demon, god—sweat.

Dragons.

Dragons are known by anyone whose heard of them as more as forces of nature and disaster rather than living beings. Great beasts with voices that could make one's ears bleed. With wings that crack thunder and breath that will turn anything to ash. One would think dragons might be seen as pests to the gods, annoyances to be swatted away. But even the gods fear their strength. Even going on to proclaim anyone as a hero that is bold enough, strong enough, and smart enough to best one.

One was even particularly feared by most. A beast made of black, said to be so fast that it could race the winds and with breath of blue heat. Its destruction was so terrible that no one dared face him when he only came out at night to wreak havoc. For this, the townsfolk came to know it as many names; the Great Black, Light Eater, the Invisible One, or even its common moniker the Night's Fury.

The god-king known as the Vast; God of Strength, is the only god or demigod that the Night's Fury fears. And for this reason, the Fury only shows itself at night.

But these are just myths, stories that are changed every time they are passed on to fit a different narrative. No one truly knows the story of who or what the Night's Fury is. Was it god taking divine retribution upon the world? A demon birthed from the evil and sins of men? An animal claiming territory for its own? Or something else?

So it's 2021... damn it's been a long time right? But I wanna get back into this. But looking my story years ago I cringe at how I wrote and what I was writing so I'm starting from the ground up. So hopefully you guys like it as I like it. Tell me what you guys think so far.
