Chapter 17 - Broken Deeds, Broken family
Fuyuki Tohsaka Estate 1994 Same night as the end of last chapter
(Kariya Matou's P.O.V)
I grit my teeth as I can feel my body protest strongly. Even without the Grail Worms inside me anymore, they've left their mark on me..
And yet despite that I can't let Tokiomi go unpunished, his family should know the sort of man he is, another wretched maggot like the ones I used to have in crawling in my body. As I walk toward the front door, Berserker rushes in front of me to intercept a sudden ranged strike at my body…
"Hmph…to think a wretch mongrel like you are a master.." I hear, that bastard is already here. A regal aura coming from a man with golden blonde hair and golden armor, portals of rippling gold appearing around us..
"Why have you come, hope to find death at the hands of a king…?" He says, I can feel my teeth grinding together as my rage is starting to boil, almost unable to control myself I shout..
"I want to kill that bastard Tokiomi, for abandoning his own niece to the matous, to that vile roach that was our family patriach…" I say with a dark, deep vitriol. I can feel my body twitching as phantom memories of the worms wriggle in my mind.
"...Was you say…he's dead..?" The arrogant archer says, to which I can't help but burst out laughing finding such a question hilarious all of a sudden.
"Yea…Killed by the allies of the Master of Caster…" I say, which causes the blonde man to narrow his eyes before he starts to chuckle..
Then he starts to full on laugh, as if he heard the funniest joke in his entire life. I can feel Berserker behind me start to growl with rage.
"So, my sight showed me the truth after all, I had my doubts because of just how ludicrous the notion of a goddess coming into this world…but it turns out that everything is indeed going as Sha Naqba Imuru foretold…" The Golden Archer says with an almost far too eager smile.
"Yes, much like saber I saw at the feast of kings, she will be my greatest wife, one who will bear me a child that will be greater than any man that walks this earth…" He says with the same arrogant tone.
"You however…." He says looking straight at me, that bastard…
"You will die here…"
"NO, I REFUSE TO LET TOKIOMI GET AWAY WITH ABANDONING SAKURA TO ZOUKEN'S CREST WORMS!" I cry out, noticing how at first archer looks bored but then his eyes narrow before they widen as if realizing something..
"Tch, so my master is little more than a wretched fool who treated his own daughter like a tool, when he didn't need another daughter.." The Archer in gold says dangerously. He takes a moment to breathe before looking at me.
"I cannot permit you to enter…but if I were already pre-occupied with something to care….I will not come to that wretch that I am forced to call my master's aid without a command seal.." He offers, I look to Berserker before deciding to accept this gambit.
"Berserker, by the power of my command seal I command you….Kill Archer.." I command, leaving but a single command seal after I'm done using them. Berserker roars before charging at Archer, who grins and begins to rapid fire his treasures at Berserker.
I quickly loose track of the fight, and make my way into the estate. I only need to kill Tokiomi after all. I don't care what happens to me afterwards.
"Please Berserker…don't let me down.." I ask, feeling through the master-servant bond that he heard me.
Meanwhile, outside of the estate
(General P.O.V)
Gilgamesh grimaces as he sees that mongrel berserker touch more and more of my valued treasures. It's utterly infuriating to him, but being servant to Tokiomi now he knows how rotten the man really is would be even more of an Insult.
Berserker himself is going all out as the command seal boost is serving to amplify his abilities while enhancing is already unpredictable and savage movements, catching one blade in his hand and "Claiming" it before using the new blade to bat away another.
All the while Berserker is getting closer and closer, forcing Gilgamesh back. It's then that both servants briefly spot someone else rushing through the open door, neither of them see who it is as the fight continues.
Inside the estate
(General P.O.V)
"TOKIOMI, COME OUT HERE!" Kariya yells, growing frustrated and exhausted at looking through the entire estate for Tokiomi. As he continues to rush through the estate, he finally sees Tokiomi cornered alongside his family.
"Y-you….you're Kairya Matou.." Tokiomi says, looking rather bewildered as to why Kariya is here, but when he sees the command seal on his hand, he narrows his eyes.
"So, you're here to kill me..?" He says to Kariya, making his wife Aoi Tohsaka and his Daughter Rin Tohsaka look at Kariya with terror, not wanting to believe that he would do something like that..
"Yes, especially after you threw Sakura away to Zouken…..who gave her to the crest worms.." He snarls, something that makes Both Tokiomi and Aoi pale, albeit for very different reasons.
All while Rin Tohsaka looks confused, having no idea what crest worms are yet due to how young she is.
"Y-you…you gave her away….to someone who'd…" Aoi says, looking at her husband with a look of pure disgust and feeling quite ill. Her own daughter having been subject to those things for over a year..
She only knows due to the alliance between Tohsaka and Matou in the first place, but to think they'd subject a 5 year old to that, she honestly wants to throw up. Tokiomi looks extremely nervous, realizing that Kariya is turning his own wife against him.
"H-hey, don't listen to him, he's the enemy master!" Tokiomi tries to reason, but is then innocently asked…"Daddy, where is my sister, really..?" Asks a young Rin Tohsaka. Tokiomi is unable to bring himself to keep lying as he slowly finds himself cornered.
"S-sakura wouldn't be able to flourish under us, I had to send her away so she–" Tokiomi tries to say before Kariya interrupts with "So you wouldn't have to deal with a potential issue that comes with the "Spare" that was sakura.." Kariya says coldly.
He just looks like he's about to try and either run or attack Kariya, but before either can happen..
"Such an exquisite expression of panic and fear, I do hope you don't mind if I add betrayal to the mix…" A voice says before a sword is suddenly thrown right through Tokiomi's heart at high speed, nailing him to the wall of the room.
"K-kirei….y-you b-bastard…" Tokiomi says, reaching out to the coldly smiling priest that is in the doorway behind Kariya before he dies, the sword lodged in his heart being the Azoth Sword that kill him in yet another time-line.
"DADDY!" Rin Tohsaka cries out as she rushes to the pinned corpse of her father, while Aoi can barely comprehend what's happening. It's all happening so fast that she can barely keep track..
"Y-you…" Kariya says, narrowing his eye at the priest that by all rights should be out of the war currently. Kirei just grins while walking over to the dead Tohsaka Patriach before looking right at the betrayed expression on his corpse.
"Truly exquisite…" He says before he casually pulls free the blade from Tokiomi's corpse, making it fall and end up trapping Rin who was trying to free her father under his very body.
"Now then, I do believe it's time that I said goodbye to the three of you, you will not be required to live any further…" Kirei says ominously, and goes to cut-down Aoi who freezes seeing the sword who killed her husband about to strike her down as well.
However…
CLANG!
A woman with long white hair, glasses of a researcher holding a long tanto blade blocks the strike, this is Fu who had so happened to spot Kariya in the area and initially was to observe..
"So, that deal you strike with Goldie back at the kings feast, you truly went through with it…" With a disproving frown on Fu's face..
Over the last few days while Sakura has been recovering, the war has progressed as normal, albeit without anything that would have been a result of Bluebeard Giles's work. Which led to Gilgamesh and Kirei ultimately interacting earlier than the original time-line allowed.
A Consequece of a lack of said insane caster servant to direct peoples attention.
"So there was truly another watching other than my assassin servant, how peculiar.." Kirei says, not at all displeased at the turn of events. The two begin to trade swipes and stabs while Kairya rushes over to get Rin out from under her own father's corpse, the poor girl looking absolutely shell-shocked.
"AOI, WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE FAST!" Kariya says, snapping Aoi out of her daze while shakily nods, Kariya's body protesting while he guides the two remaining Tohsakas out of the estate as Fu and Kirei continue to trade strikes.
"How fascinating, I have to use reinforcement on my limbs just to keep up with your strikes, you must be quite physically capable…" Kirei says in a mocking praise for Fu's strength, making her narrow her eyes realizing that Kirei is just buying time to–
Her combat instincts are the only thing that save her from taking multiple swords in the back through fatal places.
"GUAGH!" Fu coughs up blood as she falls to her knees, her entire back riddled with knives and swords that just barely manage to avoid her spine, heart, head and lungs..
"H-how…." Fu says, not understanding how exactly Gilgamesh knew where to direct his portals while he was focused on fighting Berserker. She is barely able to raise her blade up in time to block another swing, but she's losing alot of blood fast.
"D-damn you K-kirei Kotomine…" Fu says, slowly fading in and out of consciousness as there is so much blood over her now..
As much as Fu hates to admit it, she got sloppy and she's now paying for her mistake in spades. Seeing she has not much stretch left, she immediately drops the disguise and goes Super Fu, surprising Kirei and attempts to stab Kirei.
Kirei just barely dodges the stab but is unable to avoid the subsequent body-slam that sends Kirei right out of the estate and slam hard into the trees below.
"A-at least….I get to experience….the feeling of death at last…" Fu says, looking at Kirei with a woozy self-confident grin before she falls over, finally unable to keep herself going..
Fu from the DBZ world, Dies protecting Kariya, Aoi and Rin from being killed by Kirei.
Rain begins to fall as it drenches the blood-soaked corpse of Fu, all while Kirei Kotomine struggles to stand upright after taking such a heavy blow, his heart having been injured as well which is hampering his ability to recover.
"Hmph, you let her get a good hit on you priest…" Says Gilgamesh who comes over to the still recovering Kirei, who chuckles before shaking his head.
"She could have done alot more damage if she weren't so weak from the blood loss.." Kirei admits, looking at the now Purple-skinned and pointy-eared dead woman. He can barely fathom what sort of being she is before shaking his head.
"Regardless, Tokiomi is dead and the silent observer as well.." He says, taking a moment, before looking at the estate itself.
"Hmph, try not to die on me so quickly, am I clear priest…?" Gilgamesh says, gazing down at the roughed up and injured Priest who can only nod and perform the required rituals to establish a new contract.
By the time morning comes, Arturia would get worried and go investigate..
Ruined Tohsaka Estate The next day 1994
(Arturia's P.O.V)
No No No NO NO!
It can't be….
I watch as Mashu and Ritsuka bring Fu's body over, using Mashu's shield as a stretcher, falling to my knees as I see just how still she is, how cold..
I gently go to cup the Fu's cheek, rubbing my thumb over it as my tears begin to spill out. I just feel so…broken..
I knew that at some point one of my family would eventually die..I just didn't think it'd be so soon, and Fu at that, my first real capture…
"W-why…I don't get it.." I say, sobbs wracking my form as I can barely keep composure, we were doing so well, just why did she have to die?!
I can hear the rest of my family also grieving alongside me, a hand comes on my shoulder, not sure which until I hear my sister, Artoria (Saber) Speak up…
"Trust me sister, it'll never get easier…." She says, her stoic voice laced with deep sorrow as Grey is sobbing on Morgan's shoulder, who can only cradle her in her arms.
Ritsuka and grey, in tears themselves, have to physically restrain Mordred from going off to find the bastard who killed Fu..
"Gilgamesh…..I hope you can hear me with that fucking clairvoyance of yours…." I say with a furious snarl, gripping my lance tightly in my dominant hand as I continue speaking…
"I will fucking kill you, you and Kirei Kotomine…" I say, before all this I didn't think I hated Kirei Kotomine and Gilgamesh before…
Well I certainly do now…
We missed far too much in our time celebrating Sakura's recovery, having missed the first few events of the Fourth Holy Grail war and we are already in the fucking half-way point…
I don't care what it takes, I will fucking kill them both!
It's the least I can do, to avenge Fu's death…
My eyes subconsciously shift into the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan due to the intense emotional stimuli before I forcefully shut them off.
No, now is not the time for that..
But make no mistake Gilgamesh, you just became Priority No.1
I will keep the promise so long ago, he WILL feel my wrath.
This I vow!
We bring back Fu to the manor to keep preserved, none of us want to bury her in a place that isn't her home world after all.
And as we prepare for the revenge that comes…
None of us ever noticed that Fu's Tempest Jewel ring is still active…
Author's Note
And now we're past the point of no return.
This is the first time Arturia truly had to deal with the loss of one of her Retinue, at it's her very first capture that bites the dust..
Sudden Jump in events
This is the consequence of having spent so much time focusing on tending to Sakura and paying no real attention to the grail war itself. Now things are starting to rapidly spiral into both familiar and unfamiliar territory.
The Poll
While the poll itself will soon be over, it's looking increasingly like the Tohsakas are going to be Arturia's new captures.
The Other side
Kariya won't be willing to help Kirei Kidnap Irisviel after this story, so it'll be interesting to see how things start to diverge further..
