Chapter 10:
Many years ago. Humanity went through an evolution. The first recorded cases of super powered individuals were reported. Then all across the world, powers became more common. We began calling these strange powers, quirks. Then, like wildfire, they spread through the entire world. Now it's believed that almost 90% of the world's population has some kind of quirk. Almost overnight, the supernatural became the totally normal. However, there remained a few who were born without a quirk, called the quirkless. I would know about them because I used to be one of them.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, and this is how I became the world's greatest hero. But you already know that story. You know about how I inherited the quirk One for All from my idol, All Might. You know how I went to UA to train to become a hero, and how I became the number one hero in the world. However, in life, you never know what your future may hold so this is not the story of how I became the world's greatest hero. Instead, this is the story of how a new generation became something greater.
Hana's POV:
Pushing open the door to the infirmary, I took one more look at my long white arm. The arm that I'd felt break.
"AHHHH!"
I cringed a little at the memory of my arm breaking, the flashback caused the appendage to begin to tremble uncontrollably. I had to grab the shaky arm with my left hand in order to stop the trembling. My heart rate shot up as a huge wave of fear hit me like a tidal wave.
However, taking a second to breathe, I was able to settle down.
"Inhale. Exhale."
I told myself as I put my mind at rest and shut my eyes for a moment, remembering my breathing technique and flashing back to what my mentor, Deku, had told me mere moments ago.
"Hana." Deku got my attention as I finished changing out of my hospital gown into my old clothes. Apparently, when Eri had rewinded me, she had rewinded my torn clothes back to a state where they weren't torn. Meaning I got my favorite jeans and leather jacket back. Even if the stains and dirt and mud were rewinded too.
"I need to tell you something. Something about this power." My mentor's voice took on a serious tone as he sat back down on my hospital bed. I could tell from his body language and somber tone that he was about to give important speech. So, I simply sat down next to him on the bed and awaited his words.
"One for All… It's not like any other quirk." Deku began but I could sense where this was going and decided to cut him off, very much in character.
"Yes, I know it's powerful and I need to control it and all that." said sarcastically as I looked back over to my mentor and was surprised to see a saddened look on the heroes' face. For a moment I grew worried, because that face was the same one, I had feared seeing when I woke up, a look of disappointment.
"Is this about the exam?" I asked him hurriedly as I began to worry, I had let him down, and he was only now going to tell me. "I'm sorry I failed… I just."
However, before I could finish some frantic apology, Deku cut me off.
"Hana, please stop worrying about this." He told me as he put a supportive hand on my shoulder. "I meant it when I said I couldn't be prouder of you. This has nothing to do with your performance."
Deku reassured me as he gave me another one of his famous smiles. A smile I happily returned. However, the man was not finished with his speech.
"Well, actually it has a little bit to do with your exam. Haha." The hero awkwardly laughed while scratching the back of his head. For nothing else, getting to see the symbol of peace act awkwardly was well worth all the hours I'd spent training and the pain I'd endured.
"You see Hana, One for All grows more powerful with each user." Deku began his explanation as I just nodded. He had already explained this to me before, but I figured he had to be going somewhere with this, so I didn't speak up.
"It is because of this, that I must ask you." He stopped for a moment almost choking on his words.
"I must ask you, please, do not use 100% percent of it's power." Deku was practically begging me at this point. His eyes showing clear desperation and fear.
Then, rather than saying another word the hero became to take off his white gauntlets and gloves. Following this, he rolled up his long green sleeves to show me a sight I hadn't seen in a while. The long deep scars across his arms.
"Or this will be your future." He spoke with the tone of a scared little boy. A tone you wouldn't expect the world's greatest hero to speak with.
However, as his right hand began to tremble once more, and he had to grab the shaking appendage. With his left hand. I could tell he truly meant his words.
"Please, using One for All at 100% power is too dangerous for you." Deku continued to beg me as his hand ceased it's shaking, the tremors finally subsiding.
"Please, please, promise me you won't do it!" I almost gasped as he grabbed my shoulders, looking me right in the eyes as he pleaded with me.
"Of course." There was no hesitation in my voice, how could there be when he had just pleaded with me so hard. However, after my hasty response, I thought about it for a moment.
Looking down at my hands, I lightly clenched them into a fist as I really thought about his request. I had no clue how to control this power. I didn't even know what he meant by "100%" of One for All. How was I gonna have any way of controlling it if I couldn't even throw a punch with out breaking every bone in my body?
However, looking back up at my mentors pleading eyes, I knew I didn't have a choice. After all, it was worth it. It had to be worth it.
As my flashback ended, I blinked for a moment as my senses came back to me and I was able to realize where I was.
"100%, huh…" I whispered to myself as I thought about what Deku had told me for a moment. I had no real clue what he meant when he had said this. I always thought this quirk would just make me stronger, you know. Let me punch good. But I guess that amount of energy went both ways. He really meant it when he said it would destroy me. I had to learn how to control it.
Deku made it look so easy. Jumping between buildings and smashing impossibly powerful villains and doing it all with a smile on his face. To have that amount of mental control took real strength. Strength I wasn't sure I had.
But just because I might not have been strong enough now. That didn't mean I couldn't get stronger. I mean it's not like I had a choice. Deku had made it very clear how important this power was. How every bearer had a responsibility to the world. A responsibility that had just been thrust upon me. But hey, I volunteered for it. What are you gonna do?
I lightly shrugged at my thought as I just nonchalantly walked out of the small hospital, not having the energy to overthink or worry about my future or my responsibilities. The only thing being on my mind, being the very comfy bed Deku had mentioned back at the warehouse.
Wow, it felt really good knowing I had a home to go back. A real home, it's something I could never thank my mentor, my hero enough for. However, right as soon as I opened the door, I was immediately preoccupied.
"HANA!" A tall looking boy ran right at me and embraced me in a great big hug. If I hadn't done so much endurance training in the past months, I would have easily been knocked over by the boy's weight.
"You had us so worried!" Finally getting a good look at the boy whose chest I was now pressed against; I could quickly recognize his yellow hair and handsome face. Only now his face looking much more distraught than as pretty as it had been before.
"You're okay right?" Kano Kaminari asked me as I was still blushing from the pretty boy embracing me so powerfully. However, that childlike embarrassment quickly shifted to confusion as to the reason for the boy's extreme reaction.
"Uhh, yeah, yeah. I'm fine…" I reassured the scared boy as my confused tone was clearly heard.
"Don't be too scared." I tried to make the joke sound funny, but as I continued to collect the rest of my surroundings, my voice still sounded confused.
"Haha." Despite my dodgy delivery, I was still able to get a small blonde girl just outside the door to chuckle a little. That's when I was able to look past the electric boy whose arms were slowly unraveling around me. Just outside, on the cobblestone of the entrance grotto, was two more people waiting to speak.
The first was someone I didn't recognize. To my right was a small blonde girl still smirking from my stupid little joke, but I got the sense she was naturally chipper. Oh, and when I say small, I mean she couldn't have been taller than 4'10.
Looking down, I grew worried when I saw a small sacrificial dagger strapped to her waist, and from the red blood running down it, I could tell it had been freshly used. However, the girl's happy smile and naturally pink aura made her seem much less threating, despite the deadly weapon she was subtly brandishing.
The person next to her, however, was someone I instantly recognized, and my eyes widened as both our eyes met. It was the ice winged boy I'd risked everything to save. Ronin Todoroki.
"H-hey…" I didn't really know what to say to him. All thoughts of the two blonde teens next to me immediately vanishing.
"Hey." Ronin replied, his voice sounding slightly more confident, but I could tell there was palpable pain behind it.
For a brief moment, we seemly stared at each other. His soft brown iris' pouring into my crisp green eyes. Both of us seeming to want to say two simple words, but being unable to vocalize the simple statement, "Thank you."
"Okay, you two… Don't be weird." We were both snapped out of our thoughts when the yellow haired boy, Kano said one of his signature jokes.
"Uh, sorry." I said as my cheeks turned bright red from the embarrassment.
"Yeah, sorry." Ronin replied with a similar apology. The formally stoic man acting quite flustered.
"Geez, Ronin." I looked to my right to see the short girl from before, only this time she was had a smug smile on her face and had her arms crossed under her small breasts.
"If I would have known you had a thing for blondes. I would have teased you more." Both Ronin and I's blushes only intensified at the small girl's words.
"TSUNA!" Ronin screamed as his wings shot out into long spikes before turning to address the girl who began to chuckle uncontrollably.
"Oh, this is gonna be so much fun!" The newly identified Tsuna and her friend Kano both loudly laughed at the normally stoic man's extreme reaction. Even I had to admit, the boy's embarrassed response remined me of another boy. A boy who I just realized shared a last name with the angel looking boy in front of me. However, before I could pose the question about the other Todoroki boy, Yue. Ronin pulled my attention.
"Sorry, about them." Ronin placed a hand on my shoulder as we met eyes again, this time lightly laughing like good friends. The dirty blonde boy lightly blushed as his hand was quickly pulled off my shoulder and he once again looked flustered.
"Um, we never really met before… Ronin Todoroki." The boy stuck out his hand steadying himself and shaking off all his nerves. No longer looking like the stoic man I'd seen before, or the flustered goof ball.
"Hana Izumi." I quickly took his hand and smiled back at the boy as I once more felt a strange warmth in the boy's soft brown eyes.
Luckily, we didn't spend as long staring at each other before breaking off our handshake and turning to address the two jokers who were coming down from their laughing frenzy.
"Ah, yes, right." Kano collected himself as he saw we were waiting to speak with him and his little girl friend.
"Hana, this here is Tsuna Toga." The Kaminari boy introduced me to the short girl as I was about to shake her hand. Until a thought entered my head.
"Wait, Toga… Like." I thought out loud as that name somehow sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Luckily, the girl was able to finish my thought for me.
"Yes, like Himiko Toga. My mother. Yes, she was the villain you're thinking of. No, I'm not going to slit your throat. Oh, and yes, I will become a hero." Tsuna immediately answered a barraged of questions I hadn't even thought of. To be honest, I was kinda impressed.
"Wow, okay… Good for you…?" I threw the comment out, not even meaning for it to be a joke, but apparently the Toga girl thought it was funny.
"Hahaha! Oh, I like you!" She exclaimed as she doubled over in laughter once again. Her laughter being infectious enough to get myself and the two other boys to lightly giggle.
After breaking off and quieting down there was a brief moment of awkward silence that allowed me to think one single thought. "What am I doing here?"
I'd never been a "social butterfly", but over the past twenty-four hours, I'd been introduced to more people and had more awkward conversations then all my sixteen years of being alive. However, whether it be the pink aura of the yellow and blonde-haired students in front of me, or the warm energy of the ice-cold boy behind me. I felt oddly happy, and for the first time in my life, I didn't want to be alone.
"Well, I hate to leave so soon." I turned around when I heard the Todoroki boy's words. "But it's getting late, my mom's gonna be worried."
He explained as we all seemed to understand where he was going. He confirmed our thoughts as he slowly walked away. Likely, preparing to take off and fly back to wherever he came from. However, before taking off, he looked back over to me, and I could tell he seemed nervous.
"Uh, Hana… I…" Lightly scratching the back of his head and stumbling over his words. I could tell the winged boy had something he wanted to say but was having trouble finding the words.
"T-thank you." He finally mangled to stammer the words of gratitude out of his shaky lips as I realized to what he was thanking me for.
"Oh, uh, it was nothing." I told him hastily as I blushed once more at the praise, seeking to play off my actions, as I wasn't used to hearing any kind of thanks from anyone other than my little sister.
"No, it wasn't." Ronin lightly chuckled as he stood firm on his gratitude.
"You saved my life." He told me as I couldn't help but smile. Having no idea how to respond to this kind of thanks.
"Thank you, Hana." He stood firm on the gratitude as I was at a loss of words. Taking a couple second to just stutter and look really awkward.
"Well, thank you too." I was finally able to muster a couple words as I realized I should also thank the boy.
"I mean… you got me out of there." I clarified as he lightly nodded, as if answer my subtle question.
"You saved me, so thank you." I told him once more giving him my best "Deku" smile to try and cover out how fast my heart was racing.
"Well, you saved my life. I saved yours." He lightly shrugged at me as we both laughed.
"We're square." I delivered his final words before looking back down at his watch to check the time.
"Oh crap!" The boy almost screamed as he read the time.
"I really gotta go." He told all of us before squatting and unfurling his long crystal wings.
"Oh, and Hana." Ronin seemed to have one last statement to add as he prepared to take off.
"I hope to see you at UA." I felt my heart sink a little at his words. The encouragement should have help lift my spirits. But the reminder only made me realize yet again that I had failed.
Whoosh!
I was pulled out of my self pity when a big gust of cold wind hit me. So strong it almost knocked me over. Then, when I looked back over to where the Todoroki boy was. I saw he was gone and up in the sky, there was a faint dot slowly flying away.
"Hahaha!"
"HAHAHA!"
However, I was pulled out of my cathartic moment when I heard two voices softly snickering behind me. Then, the giggles grew until the voices were laughing like hyenas.
"Hahaha! Oh! Did that just happen!?" Spinning on my heels I could see both Tsuna and Kano buckled over laughing.
"Hey!" I yelled at them both in an attempt to seem tough, but the red blush of my face clearly showed I was still embarrassed by the intimate moment Ronin, and I had shared.
"Haha! Oh! Sorry it's not you!" The Kaminari boy managed to squeak out between laughs as he placed his hands on his knees. Almost falling over from his giggles.
"It's just! Haha! I've never! Ever seen Big bad Ronin Todoroki act like that!" Kano finished elaborating as I finally understood the reason behind the two teens laughing frenzy.
"You! You really must have gotten to him!" Tsuna added on further as I remembered back to how he'd acted when we first met. From what they were saying, it seemed like that was how he normally acted. But I guess I'd made him out so out of character that the two of them were quite literally laughing their asses off and think about the stern boy's previous serious aura having changed to the nervous blushing boy from before did make me chuckle a little.
"Oh! Okay. I'm sorry. I'll. Haha. I'll stop now." Kano finally ceased his laughing fit as Tsuna quickly followed her friends' actions. The two of them standing back up as their laughs turned to giggles. Then they were just smiling as we briefly fell silent.
For a moment, I didn't know what to say. I had just met all these people today, and yet some how I'd already managed to both laugh and cry with them. However, before I could think any deeper about it, Kano broke the silence.
"So, anyway. Are you gonna be going somewhere Hana?" The yellow-haired boy asked me as I quirked and eyebrow at his question.
"Uh, I don't know… I hadn't really thought about it." I told him a so realized how fast this day had gone by. All I'd been thinking about was getting to sleep in an actual bed for the first time in years.
"So, you don't have any plans?" The boy continued to probe as his smile only grew. I could tell his was up to something, but I had no idea of what.
"No, not really." I didn't want to be mean; I was still pretty tired from… well, everything. However, before I could voice my opinion. The Kaminari boy once more cut in.
"Great! Cause we had a special surprise for you!" I naturally grew curious when Kano had told me this and wanted to hear him elaborate.
"Guess's whose mom is the judge for a very special practical exam?!" His rhetorical question did not amuse me, and I could tell I was not alone when Tsuna gave the boy a blank stare much like I was.
"What?!" He looked around when he saw we weren't amused. The teenager throwing his hands up in mock defeat.
"Okay, fine. It's me." That joke actually got us to laugh again as we all lightly giggled at the boy's cheeky joke.
"Anyway, my mom said she might be able to get me and a couple friends into observe this test." We could both obviously tell where he was going with this. But I still remained confused about one thing.
"Wait, you want me to come?" I asked the boy as both him and his blonde friend looked surprised for a moment.
"Uh, yeah… Why not?" They both seemed confused for a moment as Kano replied.
"Here. C'mon!" The short girl quickly ran over to me before I could process what she had said and was pulling me back to the entrance hall. Before stopping and spinning back to look at her friend Kano.
"Uhh, where are we going?" Tsuna asked him as he just lightly giggled before walking past her to lead the way.
"Just follow me." Prancing past us, the two teens didn't give me a moment to say anything as I found my arm once more being pulled by the short girl.
"This'll be great!" The Kaminari boy exclaimed as we marched back to the entrance of the school. I thought about protesting for a moment. However, seeing the smiling faces of both teens I decided to just go with the flow, and follow wherever these to goofballs would lead me.

3rd Person POV:
Inside a small gym, with a connecting window, three judges observed a rather strange sight.
Right on the padded mats of the gym's boxing ring stood two individuals of completely different physiques.
The first person was the kind of man who wouldn't seem at all out of place in a gym such as this. Having muscles across his body and he stood at, at least 6'2, he was clearly a man who worked out a lot and the kind of man you would be scared to get into a fight with.
However, as his fists swung frantically at his opponent. The judges once more took a glance at the other person ducking and sidestepping the man's straights and hooks.
The second person was the kind of girl who would seem completely out of place in a gym such as this. Tall and skinny, the girl looks like a twig the man would snap in half. Well, he would if he could even touch her.
Bobbing and weaving, the girl delicately avoided ever move the man made. Her long chestnut brown hair whipping around as she slid under the large man's fist then rolling right under a blind back kick. Laying back against the ropes of the boxing ring, and delicately folding her hands behind her back. The girl's face showing no emotion as the man turned around to see her looking as calm as ever.
Following this, the man began to run right at the indifferent girl as she simply waits for a moment till, he was about halfway across the ring when she bounced off the ropes and ran right at the man as well.
"Ahh!" Screaming in rage the man reeled back his fist in an attempt to clothesline the poor girl. However, much like before, right as the man swung at her face. The girl's knees hit the padded floor and her back bent as the fist flew harmlessly right over her head, and the girl slides to the other side of the ring. The big man running right into the ropes and clumsily falling over.
Turning around, the enraged man could see the girl once more laying against the ropes on the other side of the ring. Only this time, rather than her hands being professionally folded behind her back. The girl was fitting a small black fedora onto her wild mane of brown hair. The man recognized it as the hat she'd lost when rolling out of the way from his previous attack.
Then, as the man began to get up and dust himself off, the girl took a quick glance to the side where the long window and panel of judges were seated. She once more didn't react when seeing them pick up their pens and jot something down on their review sheets.
However, her gaze lingered for a moment as she saw three new people enter the small booth. She grew curious as they appeared to be much younger than the rest of the judges. The first two were two blonde haired girl's one of them looking remarkably shorter than the rest of the group, and the second girl seeming out of place as she wore a bunch of torn up dirty clothes. Lastly, there was a tall handsome looking boy. He had bright yellow hair and a radiant smile. These new students immediately took the girl off guard as she lingered on them for an extended moment. In particular, that cute yellow haired boy.
Unfortunately, because of her extended gaze, the girl briefly forgot about her opponent and so when her head turned back to the direction of the large man. It was immediately met with a swift fist.
BAM!
Falling to the ground, the young girl grabbed her broken noise that was now spurting blood.
"Ah." She groaned as she got to her knees, the pain fully hitting her. Reaching up and touching her nose, she could feel the blood running, and looking at her fingers she could see the red liquid.
"Come on!" The man yelled at the girl as she looked up at the man with a slight hit of anger. "Get up!"
The brown-haired girl followed his instructions as she slowly began to rise from the mat. Only briefly stopping to grab her fedora and place it back on her head.
Making it to her knees, she took one last look back at the judges, and in particular the handsome boy, and she realized a new strategy was in order.
Finally making it to her feet and once more folding her hands behind her back. While assuming her signature prim and proper posture. The girl ran her index finger a cross the rim of her hat as a new plan formed.
"Step one. Distract target. Then, duck his blind jab. Apply pressure towards rib cage.
Step two. Uppercut through middle. Dislocate jaw. Grasp back of target's head. Shatter nose.
Step three. Parry right hook. Grasp target's wrist. Tilt arm at forty-five-degree angle. Break arm. Strike jaw joint. Pulverize bottom teeth. Break nose entirely.
Finally, Step four. Deliver right roundhouse to cranium. Shatter eardrums and concuss.
In conclusion. Two cracked ribs. Four shattered teeth. Broken jaw. Shattered nose. Broken arm. Shattered eardrums. Concussed.
Full physical recovery. Eight weeks. Full psychological recovery. Eight months.
Capacity to create nosebleeds. Neutralized."
Then, it all happened.
Quickly pulling the fedora off her head, the girl threw the hat right in front of the man's face. In turn, he threw a straight punch right at where her head was.
However, right as she had thrown the hat, the girl ducked right under the man's fist, bypassing his arm.
Now, standing right in front of him. She threw a series of fast jabs right at the man's chest. The force might not have been much, but the speed of her attacks meant she did serious damage to his ribs.
"Ahh!" After he screamed in pain at feeling two ribs crack. He staggered for a moment in pain. Unfortunately for him, the girl had kept moving and when he regained his senses. He felt a great amount of pressure under his jaw.
Swinging up, the girl followed through with her uppercut till her fist cleared the man's face. Then she brought her left hand to the back of his head while getting a firm grip on his hair. Bringing her fist down, she used the momentum to punch right at the man's nose.
"Oh!" The girl heard one of the judge's squeak when the man's nose began bleeding like a faucet. However, she didn't allow herself to get distracted this time as she landed on her feet and began to walk forward, hands once more neatly folded behind her back.
"Ahh!" The man let out a guttural scream as he swung an aimless right hook at the slowly approaching girl. However, his fist was swiftly blocked by the girl's left arm as she flipped sides and grasp the man's wrist. Spinning his arm, the girl then pointed his elbow straight up toward the roof.
Snap!
Bringing her right arm down on the man's elbow joint, there was a loud snapping sound as his arm bent in a very unnatural way. The judges once more gasping at the display.
"AHHH!" This time the man's scream was much more pain filled. His voices cracking in the same way his arm had. However, he was quickly shut up as the girl brought her arm across the now broken arm, sending her elbow right into his dislocated jaw.
Snap!
Another snap was heard as the man's jaw fully broke. However, no sounds were heard as his mouth had no way of opening. His bottom teeth breaking and cracking under the force.
If that wasn't enough, the girl then reeled her right arm back and delivered and open palm strike straight to the man's already broken nose, shattering the ligaments in the extremity.
Finally, the girl ended her merciless revenge by grabbing his just broken arm and spinning the man. His mind to weak to offer any resistance as it simply just followed the girl's lead. Stepping wherever she moved his body.
After about two rotations, the brown-haired girl let go of his arm. Sending him careening into one of the roped walls of the ring.
As the ropes bent, the man was sent stumbling straight back at the girl. Having planted her left foot, the young girl did a little ballerina spin before sticking her right leg out and halting her momentum.
BAM!
With one final kick, the girl slammed her right ankle into the side of the man's face. Flipping over from the sear force and speed of the impact, the man landed right on his cracked ribs and bleeding nose. Completely and utterly defeated.
"Aha. Aha." Panting slightly the brown-haired girl remained on guard her posture having fully changed to now assuming a more standard fighting stance.
"Aha." However, after taking one final loud breath the girl closed her eyes and mouth, composing herself and standing up straight, hands folded behind her back. Now facing the judges.
"Thank you." The girl's clear British accent could be heard by all the judges and the three teens whose jaws had just dropped at the display.
"For your consideration." The Brit finished her little goodbye by giving a professional bow to the judges and picking up her fedora that had been thrown earlier. Making her way out of the ring and towards the door of the gym as calmly as ever.
"Uhh." The only sound being heard all throughout the gym being a small groan from the beaten man as two medics rushed in to fit him on a stretcher.
Thinking about that for a moment, the British girl reached up and lightly touched under her nose to feel the same blood from before. Only now it had begun to harden, the wound seeming to heal. Maybe it wasn't as bad as she had thought.
Either way, her still unfeeling glare decided to take one final look over to the judge's booth. She was able to get one final glance at the yellow haired boy and his two friends who seemed as surprised as the judges. However, looking over at the boy, he just appeared to be smiling, maybe giggling, and when their eyes accidentally met. She quickly looked away. A bright blush enveloping her cheeks.
However, she was quick to regain her professional look as she straightens up and her face returned to its indifferent expression.
Nevertheless, as she opened the door and exited out of sight of any of the judges. The British girl did allow a small smirk to break through her façade.
"Ha." And a chuckle echoed from her lips.
