Chapter Three Sasuke Uchiha
My entire body aches head-to-toe. If it wasn't for the pain, I would assume I am dead. My eyes slowly flicker open to reveal particles of dust and faltering light. Below a pile of rubble is Naruto Uzumaki, still unconscious. His hand half-covering his tan face.
A groan crosses my lips. I use my right hand to lift myself from the ground. In my other hand, is the shard of light and dark. They have surprisingly combined into a stunning yin-yang crystal.
When I held the shard of light in my hands. I felt a surge of electricity tingle my entire body. Not in a bad way, of course. It was like love. Ushering away the darkness of my past and replacing it with a warmth that I had imagined un-real.
My hand covers my heart for a moment. It feels like the wave of light has pushed beyond my fathers evil will. His dark intent has been put in a locker and slammed shut. The key aptly thrown into a deep part of my mind.
I can finally think for myself.
Sadly, my leg is broken. As I crawl into the center of the destroyed cavern I hold the broken appendage and weave a rope of dark magic. I use the rope to combine the loose skin and bone. It's a makeshift tourniquet, to say the least.
Now...the real question is...
My eyes linger over to Naruto. That's when he awakens. He attempts to move but he is stuck beneath a boulder. He coughs blood and falls flat onto the ground.
"S- shit!-"
He shakes his head.
"-don't tell me...you've turned back to the darkness again?"
My skin turns red with shame.
"I- I don't know. And don't talk like you know me, usuratonkachi!"
I rise to my feet and begin limping through the cavern. Far above us, a section of collapsed floor from the chamber has sealed off most light from above. We have no choice but to traverse the maze-like tunnels within the mountain.
Wait...we?
My eyes glance back at Naruto. He's glaring at me from underneath the stone. I scoff.
No way will I trust him. I don't trust anybody.
Right on cue, his bubbly and raspy voice rings out through the corridor.
"What? You've never trusted anybody before?"
My lips tighten. Naruto continues.
"If you get me out of here. I'll help you out of this cavern. Promise."
I spin to face him.
"Are you also going to help me collect the final five shards? I highly doubt it, your highness, you'll stab me in the back and leave me for dead. Afterall, I'm a dirty witch."
His blue eyes form waves of sentiment.
"I think you're a good person."
I cross my arms in denial.
"You don't know that, fool! You just met me!"
But when I say that. I feel a pang in my heart. As if an invisible string is attached to him and is pulling me closer and closer.
"No...no! I'm not helping the prince of my enemy. Stay here and rot, bastard."
I stomp off into the darkness. Letting his figure disappear into the void behind me.
Five minutes pass. I go down two hallways before taking a sharp right-turn. The walls are lined with moss and crawling with bugs. I shiver, wishing I hadn't chosen to wear a crop top. It's cold and murky this deep under the mountain.
For some reason. Every step I take is more painful than the last. Both physically, and emotionally.
I'm leaving him to die. Naruto trusted me!
"Grrrr….son-of-a-bitch!"
I throw my hands in the air before punching the wall with all my might. The knuckles crack and bleed.
"Why!? Why am I so insistent on saving him!?"
It makes no sense. It's unnatural. Alien. Wrong. But my stomach is twisting at the idea of abandoning him.
"...fuck it."
I turn back.
Another ten minutes go by, and I return at the beginning of the maze. Naruto is still pinned under the boulder. Blood seeping from an unseen wound. Raising my hands, I form an incantation and a wave of dark magic...blasts! The rocks away.
Naruto gasps and props himself on his elbows. I stoop down and grab him firmly by the chin. His wide blue eyes are staring up at me in shock.
"Listen closely, Naruto Uzumaki. If you betray me in any way, I will rip out your heart and use it as the next ingredient in my beauty cream. Understand?"
He smirks.
"You betcha'"
I snarl before dropping his head. Using the same technique I used on myself, I use ropes of dark magic to bind his wounds. A large gash has been opened up underneath his golden chest armor. Without his consent, I cruelly rip off the metal exposing his bare skin.
His clear...skin. Six pack. Muscles. Mine. He's so fuckable.
What. The. Fuck. Was that? Gross!
I shake my head and rip off a piece of my skirt, turning it into a sort of "belly-dancer" garment. I dress his wound and help him to his feet.
When I touch his skin. My body becomes alight with warmth. He notices it too. He looks at his body head-to-toe before looking at me.
"Cold and comforting, like peppermint."
"Peppermint? What the fuck are you talking about, Uzuamki? You call me peppermint one more time I'm going to use your skull as a tea-cup."
He rolls his eyes.
"Fine. Pretend I never said anything..."
We traverse the tunnels with Naruto leading the way. As we walk, shadows begin to turn into blurs. I'm exhausted. Not only have I fallen down a fifty foot hole into a mountain but I've made "friends" with the enemy.
"That's the exit."
Finally, we exit the mountain. It's night time, and the city of Konohagakure is nowhere to be seen.
Did it disappear?
No. That's not it.
I grip the light shard in my pocket...I stole the city's light.
Backpedalling away from Naruto I grip the combined shards in my grasp.
"I'm going to re-from the crystal of light. Without you!"
I declare while pointing. Naruto throws his arms in the air. Looks like this guy isn't the best at keeping his cool.
"And what? Sasuke? You're gonna' resurrect your dead family so they can destroy the world and turn it into a barren wasteland? No light. No love. Nothing?"
My hesitation is painfully obvious.
That's when Naruto and I spot torches waving within the city center. I join Naruto's side as we gaze confused into the distance. A chorus of screams erupts, and a blast of dark-magic explodes into showers of grey sparks.
"No...no, no!"
Naruto falls to his knees as multiple buildings catch fire. I can't believe it myself. But it must be true.
My fathers' army won the war.
How? I have not fucking clue.
But it dawns on me a moment later.
My brother, Itachi Uchiha. He's a genius, afterall. Did he pull of some miraculous strategy and win the war?
It wouldn't surprise me.
Naruto jumps back to his feet and thrusts his sword at me. I have no time to respond. The cold steel of his blade touches the tip of my throat.
"Do you hear that!?"
He cries while pointing his other hand at the dying village.
"Those witches are killing innocent people! You've been touched by the shard of light. Don't you feel any empathy for them!? Do you still want to defend your fathers actions?!"
My mind is reeling. But I manage to shrug.
"This isn't the work of my father. I killed him, he's dead. His magic and will lives on inside me."
Instinct tells me to kill Naruto and go collect the remaining shards anyway. But my heart is crying...screaming...no, wailing, to team up with Naruto and join the light.
Testing myself. I grab his sword letting a stream of blood coat my palm. I tilt it aside and tip-toe towards him. He drops his sword into the grass as the remaining Konohagakure villagers are hastily slaughtered.
"Maybe...I should kill you, Naruto."
I raise both hands and wrap them around his throat. Without processing the meaning behind my actions, I rub my entire body against his and lick his throat from collar-to-chin. He shivers, but makes no attempt to stop me.
"You won't kill me."
He whispers.
"You trust me. Somehow I know, we were meant to be together."
"So...what?-"
I chuckle.
"-We just walk merrily into the sunset together? Collect the shards, and save the world? Maybe along the way, I'll even make you tea and cookies. We can make out under a full moon and fuck to a live mariachi band."
"You sarcastic cunt-"
He growls.
"-I'm trying to be poetic..."
"And I'm trying to see if I can really trust you."
"...by pissing me off while my city dies behind me?"
Tears catch the light of the moon.
"You are a twisted, evil witch. But I can't stop my soul from thinking we should trust one-another. So...what is it going to be?"
He grabs my wrists and squeezes until the tender skin bruises.
"Are we going to save the world together, or not?"
I take a deep breath before responding.
"I'm with you. For now, Naruto. So what are you waiting for? Lead the way to the next shard."
