Chapter 2
The first task had been dragons… living fucking fire-breathing DRAGONS. Whoever thought that making 17 years old (14 in Harry's case) students fight against beasts that can reach up to 50 feet long like the Hungarian Horntail surely must have drunk a wee bit too much butterbeer.
Didn't they know that it could've turned into an even bigger fiasco than last time? All the champions could've died, resulting in half the wizarding population possibly wanting to cut them to pieces for killing their precious "Boy Who Lived". Worse, it could've turned into a war with the French and Bulgarian ministries, each wanting revenge for leading one of their citizens to their death.
The only relatively good thing that came with it was that Harry now knew that the Hungarian Horntail didn't speak parseltongue. While it was in no way worth the troubles he had to go through to make it out alive, it was at least a small consolation.
Back to the present, it was now yule, and finally, he would be able to perform the ritual. He was currently in the middle of the main chamber of the Chamber of Secrets, mentally preparing himself to draw the strange symbols depicted in the book.
Finally, at exactly midnight, he began chanting in parseltongue, and with that, the ritual began.
It took five minutes before anything happened, but when it did, a bright red flash of light emanated from the symbols, thus blinding Harry.
When he regained his senses, he could discern what looked like two humans in the middle of the symbols he'd drawn, around 30 feet away from him.
When he approached them, however, he saw what seemed like black wings attached to their back. While he could've fled due to this simple fact alone, he continued moving forward, albeit more cautiously than before.
He was now facing them, and he could see that they had body shapes resembling that of the seventh-year girls at Hogwarts. The only difference was that they had black wings attached to their back, as he'd first thought when seeing them from afar.
Observing them more attentively, he took notice of their appearance. They were both almost the same height (around 5 feet 7 inches), which is, as much as he hated to admit it, 2 inches taller than he was. He also noticed that one of them had long crimson hair and blue eyes, while the other also had long hair, but they were black instead of crimson, and her eyes were violet.
Realising that he'd been staring and that they seemed to have noticed, judging by the slight smirk on their faces, Harry blushed.
Perhaps taking pity on him, the crimson-haired beauty started talking: "I knew you'd be able to do it, Harry-san!"
While confused about how the hell someone he'd never met knew his name, he decided to ask what he thought was the more pressing question first: "Who in The Nine Hells are you?"
"Don't you recognise my voice?"
"Your voice? How am I supposed to recognise your voice when the first time I heard it was literally 10 seconds ago?"
"Don't be silly… Don't you remember when I helped you figure out how to translate the exact same book that allowed you to summon us here tonight?"
"That was you?!"
"Of fucking course it was; who else could it have been?"
"Hmmm… you see… I thought it was myguardianangel"
While the crimson-haired girl didn't seem to understand his answer, he could hear the black-haired one trying to muffle her giggles behind her hands.
"Could you repeat that, Harry-san?"
"I said that I thought it was my guardian angel…"
He could see the corner of her lips twitch ever so slightly upward when he said that.
"Is that so? How ironic that you would think that… You see, Harry, it's quite the opposite; we're devils."
"Devils? Is that why you wanted me to die fighting that gigantic beast that, at the time, I thought was still alive?"
"Well… We were bored and figured this was the best way of helping you find the room where the book was located."
"Next time you are bored, try to find another target to scare because while I may be much braver than most and, as such, not as easily scared, devils or not, I'll seek my revenge on you if it ever happens again. Got it?"
"It's quite brave of you to think that you could defeat us"
"You seem to forget that I can lock you into this room if I want to."
"~~Is that so?~~"
"How is it possible?!"
"Who do you think invented parseltongue? Slytherin? Let me laugh; you wizards aren't powerful enough to invent such a complicated language."
"How was he able to speak it then?"
"He made a deal with a lower-class devil. Don't ask me about any details because I do not know."
"Fair enough. If I may ask, what are your names?"
"I'm Rias Gremory, heiress of the Gremory Clan."
"And I'm Akeno Himejima, Rias' Queen."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Harry Potter, though you already know that."
"Indeed, we do. Now, shall we make a deal?"
