Here Comes The Sun
Chapter 14
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: Sorry for any mistakes! And sorry it took so long to update. But at least I have a longer chapter here for you guys. I hope you enjoy it. The Author's Note at the end of the chapter has slight spoilers for next chapter. So, don't read if you don't want to know, okay?
"You want me to do what? But Princess Anna, I do not understand." Claudette was completely confused at Anna's strange request. When she saw Anna and Rapunzel bounding down the steps to the fabric room of the castle she smiled, thinking they were excited to see their finished gowns. But when Anna took her aside from prying eyes and ears and asked her to make her a man's suite and mask for the upcoming ball, (Kai had already planned for it to be a masquerade) she was completely thrown for a loop.
"Listen Claudette, I can't go into details, I'm not even telling my sister about it, but I really need you to create a magnificent costume for me, preferably one that hides my feminine curves and such." Anna explained.
"But princesse what about your beautiful gown? I spent so much time on it, and it's so gorgeous!" Claudette slightly whined. That dress was a masterpiece, not as much as a masterpiece as the one she had made for the queen, but it was a close second. Anna gazed at the dress and smiled.
"Don't worry Claudette, I'll be wearing that one too. Just, please? This is really, really, extremely important to me. Please?" Anna asked hands clasped, she gave Claudette her puppy dog eyes. The older girl sighed before rolling her eyes.
"Cette fille sera la mort de moi! Fine! The ball is next week so I will have to work all day and night to finish it in time, but I shall do it for you princesse." Claudette sighed in and Rapunzel both let out an excited "Yes!" Before grabbing Claudette in a fierce hug.
"Merci! Merci! Thank you, thank you, thank you Claudette! I owe you one!" Anna said as she finally let the woman out of the death gripped she had her locked in.
"Oui, you do. Now go, I need to start sketching out ideas and I cannot have you distracting me. I hope whatever or whoever you are doing this for is worth it." Claudette said as she took out her design book and a pencil, reworking Anna's measurements and starting a sketch.
"She is." Anna said quietly to herself as she started to retreat back up the stairs. Claudette continued sketching, pretending not to have heard Anna's comment even as a small knowing smile formed on her face.
***FROZEN***
"Well phase one is complete." Rapunzel said as she looked over at Anna who was walking beside her.
"Yeah now it's time for phase tw- opmh!" Anna wasn't paying attention to where she was walking, resulting in her body colliding with someone else's.
"Oww…" she groaned as she rubbed her sore hip.
"Princess Anna! Allow me to apologize! I wasn't looking where I was going." Said a young man with long brown hair tied back in a ponytail with a blue ribbon. He hand a thick French accent and he quickly helped Anna to her feet and tried to brush her off.
"Hey watch the hands guy." She joked. The young man became very flustered and instantly removed his hands, placing them behind his back.
"I- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-" Anna cut his apology off with a wave and a smile.
"I was just joking, it's fine really! So you seem to know who I am, who might you be?" Anna asked politely. The brown haired man stood a little straighter and bowed.
"I am Prince Adam III, of France, eighth in line for the throne." He grabbed Anna's hand and politely kissed it, then doing the same to Rapunzel's. The blonde girl blushed at the action while Anna just smiled.
"It is nice to meet you Prince Adam." Anna started.
"Please call me Adam, both of you." He smiled.
"Then I insist you do the same for us." Anna responded. She really liked this man for some reason. He was extremely gorgeous and had a wonderful head of long chestnut hair. And from what she could see of his body through the white dress shirt and royal blue traveling jacket, it was also something to be appreciated. But she was not attracted to him. Her heart belonged to Elsa. Plus, it wasn't just his looks that she liked about him. He seemed sweet and reserved and Anna was usually good with first impressions. Except with Hans and how she thought he was the most perfect man in the world. And with Kristoff when she thought he was a rude, mean, loner. And Olaf, when she thought he was like a freak of nature or something. Hmm. Maybe she wasn't so good with first impressions.
"Thank you Anna, and… Rapunzel correct?" He looked at Rapunzel and she smiled, nodding her head.
"So Adam, do you want to hang with us?" Anna asked as they started walking again.
"Absolutely." He smiled, following behind them.
***FROZEN***
Anna, Rapunzel, and Adam were all seated in the library. Adam said he really wanted to visit it and that's what he was looking for when he bumped into Anna. They all sat at a corner table, chatting and getting to know each other.
"So Adam, what brings you to Arendelle?" Anna asked as she picked up one of the books laying on the table.
"The queen's ball of course." He stated matter of factly as he flipped through the pages of one of the old books he had just picked out. Anna instantly dropped the book she was holding. 'Duh Anna, why else would he have traveled all the way from France? He's competing along with countless other men for the hand of your love.' This thought instantly brought a frown to Anna's face. This man was competition and he had arrived early to get the jump of everyone else. Adam noticed her change in mood.
"Are you okay Anna?" he asked worriedly. Rapunzel had just made the same realization as Anna and quickly parted from the table under the guise of looking for another book. She did not want to see Anna tear apart this poor soul.
"I'm fine Prince Adam." She stated coldly.
"Huh? I told you, you can call me Ad-"
"I know what you said, I just decided that we should go back to using formalities. After all, you are here to win my sister's heart, correct? It wouldn't be right for me to be so informal with a potential suitor." Anna spat out. Adam looked incredibly confused.
"Well, no actually." Adam calmly stated.
"And another thing- wait, what?" Anna was about to tear into the young man, sending the boy running and crying back to the first available ship to France. She then stopped when she processed his response.
"You're not here to try and win Elsa's hand in marriage?" Anna asked suspiciously.
"No, not at all." Adam said with a small smile. Now it was Anna's turn to look confused.
"But you just said you were here for the queen's ball." Anna said accusatorily, pointing a finger at him.
"Yes, I did say that. And I am here for the queen's ball, but only out of obligation. My uncle Louis, the king, forced me to come. He wants me to woo the queen and take the throne of Arendelle. I have no interest in taking anyone's throne or marrying any women." He stated.
"Ohh…" Anna trailed off, embarrassed by her jealous reaction. If there were more prince's like this one coming, Anna might just be able to pull this off. Adam and Anna both stayed in awkward silence for a moment. A nervous Rapunzel kept casting glance's over at their table from her hiding spot behind a large wooden bookcase. After the silence stretched on for another minute Anna thought about what Adam said. More specifically his wording.
"Wait a minute, you said you have no plans of marrying any woman, does that mean that you're…" Anna trailed off and Adam's head snapped. He looked terrified at the possibility of someone, especially another royal, finding out his secret.
"What? I don't, l don't know what you mean. I mean, I w-was just saying that, um, that I was not rea-" Anna cut him off by grabbing his soft, warm hand and gripping it tightly.
"It's okay." Anna whispered. "I won't tell if you won't." she said with a wink. She had no idea men could be like that, or that there were other people besides her and Elsa that felt that way. She was excited at the prospect of herself and Elsa not being alone in their preferences. She smiled brightly at Adam as realization dawned on him. He quickly looked around then leaned in closer.
"You mean, you…?" he trailed off, disbelief and hope in his eyes. Anna just vigorously nodded her head and continued smiling.
"And Elsa too." She said quietly. Adam smirked wickedly at that and chuckled.
"Well, that explains your reaction to my being here for the queen's ball." Adam said, still laughing at Anna. Anna huffed and folded her arms.
"I never said I was with my sister." She said crossly with hardly any venom.
"You didn't have to." He said with a wink of his on, much more confident and comfortable. "Don't worry, both of your secrets are safe with me. I believe love is love. No matter what form it takes or who it is with." He stated with a sweet smile this time. "And I suppose you are not happy about this engagement ball are you?" he asked sympathetically, gripping Anna's hand back in a gesture of comfort.
"No, not in the slightest. Neither one of us are. We were tricked into it by a ghastly member of Elsa's council. Now I must try to fight to keep my Elsa and the life I want us to have together." Anna responded sadly.
"Does anyone else know of your relationship?" he asked quietly.
"Only my cousin Rapunzel over there, and my best friend Kristoff. Oh and Olaf, if you can count him." Anna told him as she looked down at their intertwined hands. She knew it was something about Prince Adam that she liked and found familiar. He was a little like Elsa in a way. Quiet, reserved, and sweet. But Anna could tell that, just like with Elsa, Adam had a darker side that could be unleashed if prompted.
"Well Princess Anna, you have one more ally in your fight for your love." He told her, leaning in for a hug. Anna was touched and she'd be lying if she said tears didn't spring to her eyes. Adam, being the sweet man that he is, wiped away some of the tears that were determined to fall. He leaned in and kissed her in the cheek. That's when they both heard a sharp gasp. Anna and Adam turned their heads in the direction of the sound just in time to see Elsa's quickly retreating back. Oh no. She thinks…
"Elsa! Elsa wait! Please Elsa come back!" she yelled getting up from her chair and running after her queen. She could see a trail of ice leading out of the library and into the hallway.
***FROZEN***
Elsa had enough of sitting in her study. She had been reading docum+ents for hours, until the words started to blur together and one document ran into the other. After reading the first sentence of her 34th paper 7 times, she decided it was time for a break. She rose from her comfortable office chair and stretched, groaning as her bones popped back into place.
'I think I will go see what Anna is up to.' Elsa thought as she walked out of her office. 'It's about tea time anyway.'
As Elsa contently strolled down the hall she saw two of her maid servants whispering to each other. They had not yet noticed the queen's presence so they continued to gossip.
"Yes, she did indeed seem quite taken with the young prince!" One of the younger maids, Martha, Elsa believed her name was, excitedly whispered to the other.
"She did, she did! Perhaps we shall be having two royal weddings." The other one responded with a giggle. Surely they were not talking about Anna? What young prince did Anna seem quite taken with?
"This will be so good for Princess Anna, after the whole thing that happened with that scoundrel Prince Ha-" Martha stopped herself mid-sentence when she finally noticed the queen standing there. She quickly closed her mouth and curtsied to Elsa. The other one, the one that name escaped Elsa, quickly turned around to be met with the ice cold stare of Elsa. The girl shivered as her eyes widened and she too fell into a curtsy. She did tried to stutter out a greeting.
"H-h-hello Queen Elsa! H-how are yo-" Elsa swiftly cut her off.
"What were you two talking about just then?" Elsa asked calmly, yet both the maids detected a hint of danger. The second one had frozen up, as if Elsa had turned her into an ice statue. Martha decided to bow her head and speak.
"Your majesty, we are sorry for gossip-" Elsa cut her off.
"I asked you, what you two were talking about just then." Elsa interrupted again. Martha visibly gulped. She wasn't usually this afraid of the queen, but she could see anger flaring in her and decided not to keep her waiting for an answer.
"W-well, you see, your majesty… We saw Princess Anna bump into Prince Adam, the prince of France, literally. After he helped her off of the floor, they talked very closely and Princess Anna invited him to join herself and Princess Rapunzel." Martha explain in a shaking voice. Elsa was not angry. She was infuriated. Who was this Prince Adam, and did he really think he could steal her Anna away from her?
"Where?" Elsa simply asked. Martha was confused.
"Majesty?" she asked uncertain.
"Where did they go?" Elsa asked somewhat impatiently. Martha was sure she was about to pass out from fear. The hallway had grown colder since she first started talking to the queen.
"They- they went to the l-library, your grace." She quickly explained and with that Elsa was gone. Marching down the hallway like an angry beast.
When she finally reached the library she took in a deep breath. 'Calm down Elsa, Anna would never betray you. She loves you. It's just gossip.' Elsa thought to herself. Although, her and Anna weren't on the best of terms. They did have a huge fallout the day before, with Anna bringing up the painful past and Elsa not wanting to talk about it. But she thought they had wiped the slate clean. After another shaky breath Elsa closed her eyes and quietly snuck into the library. She silently closed the door behind her and ventured further in.
Elsa looked around the quiet room. On first inspection it seemed like no one was here. She then heard the faint sound of Anna's voice, followed by the deep rumblings of a heavily accented man's. She couldn't make out what they were saying, but she did start to get angrier and angrier. She walked towards the sound, cautious of making any noise. When she finally realized what part of the library they were in, her eye wailed up with tears. She could see the small light blue chair, still tucked in the dark corner, and across from it was the table Anna use to sit at to receive her lessons. She looked over at the table and saw Anna huddled close to a very handsome man with long brown hair secured with a bow. They were so close their heads were practically touching! And where was Rapunzel? She thought the girl supported her and Anna's relationship. Still looking at the two figures, Elsa could only see Prince Adam's chiseled face, Anna's back was facing her. Their hands were intertwined. Elsa felt like she was going to be sick. When she saw the prince raise one of his large hands to gently brush over Anna's cheek, her heart broke in two. When she heard Anna sniffle and giggle, tackling the man in a tight hug, her heart broke into a million pieces. She gasped at the shock. She saw the two pause, but by the time they turned around Elsa was already half way to the door.
'How could I have been so foolish?' Elsa thought to herself as she continued running down the hallway. She was vaguely aware of the frozen trail she was leaving behind, and of a voice calling out her name. Reaching a door that lead down to the lower levels of the castle, Elsa swung it open and ran down the steps. She had to get out of here, she couldn't be around anyone right now.
"Elsa's please wait! Let me explain!" Anna cried out after her. They were now in a secret tunnel that led to the stables outside. Elsa was already leaving through the exit. Anna tried running faster to catch up with her. "Elsa!" Anna tried calling again. 'My God that woman can run fast.' Anna thought as she too ran through the tunnel's exit. When Anna finally reached the stables, she saw a handful of confused and slightly frightened stable hands standing around. Then she saw Elsa burst through the stable doors on her large white horse, riding towards the lush green hills.
"Ralph!" Anna called to the head stable man. The man came running up, looking more confused than anyone there.
"Fetch me my horse, and quickly! Please." Anna stated and the man ran back inside the stables, not even thirty seconds later bringing Anna her ready horse. Anna mounted it with the help of Ralph and was about to take off after the frozen trail Elsa left.
"Your majesty, what on earth is going on?" Ralph asked, still holding on to the reigns.
"I can't answer that right now Ralph, I'm sorry. But I must go now." She told the man taking hold of the reigns herself.
"Very well princess, but… well. Will we be plunged into another eternal winter?" he asked frighten as he stared at the frozen patches on the ground. Anna looked at him and all the other stablemen and now other castle servants that came out to see what all the commotion was.
"Not if I can help it." Anna said as she kicked her horse into action, chasing after the queen. Her queen. She'd be damned if she let this misunderstanding get in the way of her relationship.
AN: Anna is really trusting! Someone in a review just brought that up, with her telling Adam her secret so quickly and I forgot to comment on that! Anna just trust people so quickly, sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes, like with Hans, not so much. I thought that when I watched the movie. She automatically trusted a big, rugged, strange mountain man to lead her, the princess of Arendelle, up a mountain, alone. With no one around. Dude, she could have got raped!
ANYWAY
I wanted to keep writing, but I think here's good for now. I didn't want to make this chapter too long. Plus ***SPOILERS*** next chapter gets some pretty heavy Elsanna bow-chiki-wowo action, so I have to prepare myself for that. I've never written a sex scene before and I want to do it right. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this chapter, don't be mad at me for the drama! Oh, and Prince Adam really is a good guy, I felt like if Anna is really going to pull this off at the ball she's going to need more allies. Adam is going to eventually prove to be vital at some point. Don't forget to follow, favorite, or review! It really brightens my day to hear from you guy's and it encourages me to buckle down and get the next chapter out for you guys. Peace! :)
Cette fille sera la mort de moi!: This girl will be the death of me!
