a one-shot by Jamjari

I waved to them, but they could no longer see me. I called out, but they were now deaf to my voice. I reached out, but I could no longer touch them. There was nothing I could do but watch their backs walking down the road, listening to them chattering loudly, while slowly but surely disappearing into the warm sun-lit horizon.

But I didn't dare follow them. They looked so happy -- happier than I have ever seen them before while I was around. I had been only in the way all this time, after all. And that's why I didn't have the right to break their happy moment.

If they were happy, I would be too. That's the way it worked, right?

They waved their arms around enthusiastically now, most likely talking about something exciting and fun, but it almost seemed as though they were waving goodbye to me. Though I knew that was impossible, I still gave a weak smile and a short wave back.

My eyes suddenly felt wet. Tears were rolling down my cheek. I cupped my mouth and called out their names once more.

"Hayner! Olette! Pence!"

Loneliness flooded me.

"Goodbye."

I never saw them again.

A/N: It's more like a drabble. Ugh, and this is my first fic submittion in over two years. Sorry about that. But I hope you enjoyed it. By the way, this is in Roxas's POV. Please review!
