Here Comes The Sun
Chapter 34
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: Sorry for any and all mistakes!
"Put that down Rapunzel, I'll carry it."
"No way, I can put it on the bed myself."
"But it's super heavy, here just let me…"
"Eugene stop it, I said I have it."
"Ugh! Why are you being so difficult? Just let me be chivalrous for once."
"Sweetie, you're always chivalrous. Remember there was that time you… or when you… I know! You once… Okay, so you're not THAT chivalrous, but you are kind and sweet. And I am completely capable of placing this trunk on the bed. If you'd like to help me, you can start by grabbing those dresses out of the wardrob-" Rapunzel was cut off by loud knocks at the door. She exchanged curious looks with Eugene, as he walk towards the large wooden door, opening it.
"Oh, Princess Anna! Hello! What brings you-" Anna held up a hand, cutting him off. She was staring at Rapunzel with a gaze strong enough to burn down the entire castle. Eugene shuddered and looked back and forth between the two royals.
"Could you step out for a moment Eugene? I'd like to speak with Rapunzel. Alone." she spoke quietly, gaze never leaving the blonde's. Eugene looked at Rapunzel, she seemed just as puzzled at the redhead's obvious hostility as he did. Rapunzel nodded her head and Eugene took that as his cue to leave.
"Yes, of course. If you'll excuse me Princess." he bowed his head and quickly exited the room, secretly relieved that he didn't have to be present for whatever was about to go down.
The sound of the door closing behind Eugene echoed around the quiet room. Anna just continued to assault Rapunzel with her stare while the blonde princess fidgeted uncomfortably. Finally the silence became too much and Rapunzel opened her mouth to break it, only for Anna to speak over her.
"Was it you?" she asked in a low voice. Rapunzel's confusion doubled.
"...What?"
"Was it you?" Anna asked again, louder this time. Rapunzel shook her head slowly in confusion.
"Anna, what are you talking ab-"
"WAS IT YOU?" Anna shouted.
"Was it me, what?" Rapunzel shot back.
"Was it you that convinced Elsa to end things with me? To… to get married? Rapunzel… was it you?" Anna now had tears streaming down her face. Rapunzel quickly crossed the room, stopping in front of Anna and reaching for her hands. Anna snatched away from the blonde and Rapunzel frowned slightly.
"...Anna… how could you think I'd do something like that to you? To Elsa? I told you that I supported the two of you from the very beginning. I know how much you two mean to each other. I know the intense love you share. Yes I'm concerned about your well being, but I'd never talk Elsa into breaking up with you. I thought you knew me better than that by now…" Rapunzel trailed off, looking away. Anna sniffed and brought a hand up to her face, wiping her tears away. Silence fell heavy over the room again. Finally, Anna slowly brought her hand towards Rapunzels, grabbing it and holding it gently. Rapunzel turned to look at the redhead and Anna's head was downcast.
"I'm sorry Punz." she said quietly, tears still heavy in her voice. "I'm sorry, I just… I… I don't know what I'm going to do." Rapunzel shushed the redhead, pulling the crying princess into a warm embrace. Anna sobbed and apologized. Rapunzel's heart was hurting from watching her cousin become so broken.
"Anna, it's going to be okay." Rapunzel whispered. Anna shook her head and held on to the blonde tighter.
"No it's not Punz. Nothing is going to be okay ever again. I feel like dying." she sobbed. Rapunzel grabbed the redhead by her shoulders and pulled her back a bit so she could look her in the eyes.
"Listen to me Anna, things will be okay again. I know you're hurting, I know your heart is breaking. I know you feel like the world is ending. But it's not. This is not the end. Things happen in our lives that really mess us up. But the world keeps spinning, and life goes on. If you really feel like Elsa is your soulmate, that she is the only person in the universe that you could ever love, then you need to fight this. You need to find out what made Elsa change her mind so quickly. It wasn't me I swear, but it must be something big. Elsa would never break up with you just because someone suggested it. And as far as we know, only you, Elsa, me, Kristoff, Adam, and Eugene, know about your relationship. If it wasn't any of us that got in her ear, it must be something, or someone else. You need to find out who and why." Rapunzel explained to the redhead. Anna absorbed every word Rapunzel said and nodded.
"You're right. I need to get down to the bottom of this… but I don't have any time left. Elsa announces who she choses today." Anna said dejectedly.
"That may be, but it's not like they're actually getting married today. She's just announcing her betrothed. Plus there's the evaluation period where they review Elsa's chosen's background, lineage, physical and mental health to decide if he is King material." Rapunzel explained. Anna lightened up a bit at this.
"So that gives me, at least... 2 weeks, maybe longer if I can stall the council." Anna said happily. "There might be hope." she finished. Rapunzel brought the redhead into a hug.
"There definitely is." she told Anna with a smile. Anna returned it, the first time she had smiled all day.
"Now you just need to figure out who's behind this." Rapunzel said with sympathy. Anna's smile dropped a bit as anger began to flare again.
"I already know the snake that's behind this." she bit out. Rapunzel furrowed her brow until she realized who she was referring to.
"Edmond."
AN: Yep, so drama, drama, drama. But we're going to keep this story rolling. Buckle up guys!
