By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: THANK YOU! Everyone who reviewed and told me their opinions/ideas. Thank you so much. Because of you guys I was able to update this chapter way sooner. I have inspiration for this story again because of you all and your feedback/ideas so keep them coming. More updates to come.
***I really really REALLY suggest reading the AN at the end. It's uber important to the future direction of the story!***
I'm sorry for any and all mistakes!
"The easiest solution?" Anna scoffed and shook her head in disbelief.
"So that's it? We're ending our relationship because it's 'The easiest solution'?"
Elsa still refused to look at the redhead which angered Anna even more.
"You're tearing my heart into pieces and you can't even spare to look at me? Do you even care?" Anna yelled, slamming her hand against the old wooden table between the two. Elsa jumped slightly but still didn't look at the redhead.
This wasn't just the easiest solution. As far as the blonde could see it was the only one. Anna didn't understand. She didn't understand how dangerous their relationship was. She didn't understand how serious Edmund was. How far he was willing to go to get what he wanted. And she couldn't keep putting Anna at risk like this. She couldn't keep Anna in this constant state of danger. She had to end it. It would hurt now. For the both of them. It would feel worst than being stabbed through the chest with a spike of ice. But it had to be done. Anna would move on. She would.
Elsa froze her tears away before looking at the redhead, determination in her eyes.
"Of course I care. But I have a sworn duty Anna. To my country and my people before all. If this is what's best for them, if marrying Edmund and ending… this... is what's best… then so be it." Elsa told the redhead in a cold, even tone. The entire way she held herself had changed in a matter of seconds and Anna immediately noticed. Much like at the blonde's coronation, Elsa stood stiffly, head up and shoulders squared. Her hands were interlocked in front of herself and she exuded a coldness in attitude. Elsa was shutting her out again.
"Don't. Don't you dare do that. Don't you dare shut me out again Elsa. I know you. I know this isn't you talking. You're just scared. I'm scared too but together we can-" Anna was cut off by Elsa speaking over her.
"Anna, I told you, I have a duty-" Anna returned the favor by speaking over her.
"Are you fucking joking? Your duty? Is that all you care about?! Your duty? Is your duty more important than us?" Anna asked, tears rolling down her face. "Than me?"
With every teardrop that fell from Anna's eyes, Elsa felt a crack form in her heart. It physically hurt her to see the woman she loved in so much pain. Pain caused by her. So she did the only thing she knew how. The only thing that felt familiar to her.
She froze her heart along with all the feelings she felt for the redhead.
Closing her eyes for only the briefest of moments, Elsa stared the redhead in the eye and let out a cold,
"Yes."
And then she watched the redhead go completely still in front of her.
Anna was frozen in place. She stared at the blonde as if she was a strange creature she had never seen before. Elsa watched as the color drained from Anna's face and the redhead's eyes grew hard. Slowly, Anna brought a hand up to her face and gently wiped the tears from her eyes. With a calmness Elsa had never seen the redhead display, Anna softly cleared her throat and spoke.
"Fine." she simply said, barely above a whisper. Anna gave the blonde a sad small heartbreaking smile, and then turned and walked out of the servants kitchen.
Elsa stood alone in the middle of the room, frost slowly creeping up the cracked stone walls.
"This is for the best…" Elsa whispered to herself, watching a single tear fall from her eye and completely freezing before even hitting the ground.
AN: So I was so surprised by the overwhelming response to split Elsanna, temporarily of course! I'm glad though because I have so many ideas running through my head about the break up and the sweet sweet reunification. And don't you worry people who wanted them to stay together, they won't be broken up for long at all and it's going to be so much better when they reunite!
And I have to say this as well, you guys ideas rocked!
I am especially considering the one from the true killjoy suggesting Anna go and stay with Rapunzel for a bit, I'm thinking only about a week, or Anna on her way to stay with Rapunzel. I really like that one and I'm thinking of going that way, BUT I do have ideas about the break up that involves Anna and Elsa coldly and awkwardly (for them and everyone around them) interacting with each other as well.
What do you all think?
Send Anna to Corona to bitch and scheme with Rapunzel and Flynn?
OR
Make Anna stay and throw in angry awkward Elsanna and make Kristoff, Adam, Belle, and everyone around them uncomfortable?
Thanks and see you soon!
