Here Comes the Sun
Chapter 39

AN: Here's an update! I feel like this is a sort of chapter 39.5 for some reason. I wanted to write more, but I need to study and I wanted to update. Please enjoy, and I'm sorry for any and all mistakes.
Anna rushed out of the servant's kitchen and down the back staircase. The stairs lead into a dark tunnel that was made to transfer goods from the outside straight to the kitchens. She followed the short tunnel until she saw the splatters of light leaking in through the old wooden door at the end. The redhead wiped at her eyes before opening the door and stepping into the cool noon air. She looked around as she saw the bustling of the stable hands and other workers milling about.
Anna didn't know why she was out here. She didn't know what she was doing or where she was going. She only knew that she had to get away from the castle. From the blonde ice queen residing in the castle. From that slimy beast that was lurking the castle's halls. From the people who traveled to see them and their fake smiles. From this responsibility that Elsa cared about so damn much.
Making a snap decision, she went up to one of the familiar stable hands to ask for her horse.
"Klaus, hello." she began, getting the man's attention. Klaus quickly turned around and bowed as soon as he recognized the princess.
"Princess Anna. Hello. May I start by saying congratulations on the queen's engagement. You two must be very excited." He politely stated with a respectful bow of his head. Anna resisted the urge to scoff and roll her eyes. Instead, she gave him a tight smile as she cleared her throat.
"Yes well… I'd actually like to get away from all of this 'excitement' right now. Could you please ready my horse? I'd like to go for a little ride. Just to get a little peace and quiet." She explained, wringing her hands in front of herself. Klaus noticed the action and frowned a bit.
"Um, your majesty, under any other circumstance I would comply with your order in a heartbeat, but the queen herself came to me yesterday and warned me not to let you leave the grounds." he told the redhead nervously. Anna narrowed her eyes.
"I'm sorry, what?" she asked in disbelief. Klaus cleared his throat and looked down.
"Well, Queen Elsa came to the stable hand quarters late yesterday. She looked very upset. She told me to inform the rest of the stable hands to not let you leave the grounds. She said you might be very… upset over something and she didn't want you running off and ending up lost and injured like the last time, when she'd left on horse." Klaus explained as he looked to the other stable hands for back up. They all turned away, brushing the horses or running off to fill already full troughs. Anna shook her head, anger boiling.
"You have got to be kidding me. Is this some kind of a joke?" she asked in barely concealed rage.
"I assure you princess it's not. I'm sorry but I must obey the queen's orders. Please don't make this hard for me your majesty." Klaus practically begged. Anna closed her eyes and took in a few deep breaths. She reminded herself that it wasn't his fault. That he was just obeying orders.
"Fine." she gritted out. Klaus sighed in relief.
"Thank you so much princess."
Anna turned on her heels and stormed back into the castle. What the hell did Elsa think she was doing? She had no right to break her heart and then make her stay. She had no control over her. She'd lost that right. If she wanted to leave she should damn well be able to. Anna didn't pay attention to where she was going as she angrily stomped through the hallways.
"Uff." Anna stumbled as she knocked into someone.
"Geez Anna, I've been looking all over this pla-" Rapunzel was cut off as the redhead fell into her arms and began crying. Eugene stood by their side and awkwardly watch them. He tapped Rapunzel on her shoulder and motioned to her that he was going to go. Rapunzel rolled her eyes and nodded.
"How could she do this? How could she do something like this? I feel like I can't breathe. Like I'm drowning and I don't know what to do." Anna sobbed into the blonde's shoulder. Rapunzel held her tightly and rubbed comforting circles in her back.
"Oh sweetie, I know. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." she repeated, whispering the words in her ear.
"Come on, let's go somewhere more private." She insisted as she looped her arm through the redhead's and lead them towards the library.

"And apparently, she told the stable hands and guards to not let me leave the grounds. I mean, who does that?" Anna asked angrily, taking the dainty handkerchief Rapunzel offered her and dabbing her eyes.
"Probably someone who loves you very much and knew how you would react. You remember what happened the last time when Elsa was upset and ran off on horseback into the forest? You followed after her, nearly broke your ankle, and the two of you were lost for hours. She doesn't want that happening again. She did it because she cares for you." Rapunzel told the redhead what she already knew.
"I don't care why she did it, she shouldn't have done it." Anna was on a rollercoaster of emotions. One second she would be hysterically sad and the next she'd be extremely pissed.
"Anna… she did it because it was what's bes-"
"I wish people would stop telling me what's best for me! I am a capable adult. I saved this entire frickin' kingdom. I know what's best for me! I shouldn't be forced to stay here and be around this… around her!" Anna exploded, her voice ringing through the library. At this point, Anna didn't know weither she was talking about Elsa's engagement to Edmond or Elsa blocking her from leaving. After a long pause, Rapunzel finally spoke again.
"So, what do you want Anna?" she asked in a quiet voice.
"I want…" she paused again for a moment. "I want to know… if you have room on your ship for one more passenger?"
AN: *SPOILERS* *SPOILERS* So continuing on, next will be Elsa confiding in Adam and also finding out about Anna's plan to leave/her reaction.
