Here Comes the Sun

Chapter 41

By: The Duchess of Arendelle

AN: Not a long update, but I really wanted to get something out there. Btw, it's 3 a.m. and I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to write this, so cut me some slack if there are any mistakes. Enjoy!

"First thing's first." Anna said, gazing at Elsa determinately. "We need to find his weaknesses. Everyone has a weakness. And once we discover his, we can exploit it to our own advantage." Elsa nodded in agreement and sighed. "Kai was usually the one to do the research and background checks on anyone who entered the castle. But now he's missing. God, I do hope he's okay." The blonde ice queen said, worrying her bottom lip between her teeth.

Anna sighed as well and brought her arms around her sister's waist. "I know. And me too. Kristoff and I have searched the entire castle for him. Twice. There's been no sign of him and no matter how hard she's trying to hide it, I can tell Gerta's been worried sick." Anna brought Elsa a little closer as she sighed into her neck.

"Then we'll have to do the digging ourselves. Discreetly. I'll try to see what my advisors knew of Edmond before he arrived in Arendelle." Elsa explained. Anna nodded slowly. "And Kristoff and I will check the records in the library, ask the staff, visit the Trolls, we'll follow any potential lead that could give us some intel on what we're really up against." The redhead said with resolve. But Elsa could still see the worry behind troubled turquoise eyes.

"Hey." she said, dropping a light kiss on the redhead's lips. "We're going to find Kai. We're going to defeat Edmond. And... we're going to be together." Elsa assured, pushing aside her own fears and insecurities to comfort and reassure the girl in her arms. Anna smiled slightly and nodded once. "I know. I believe in you Elsa. I believe in us." she said, placing her forehead lightly against the blonde ice queen's. The two stood there like that for a long minute, just reveling in the other's presence. They knew the moment they left Elsa's office everything would change. They wouldn't be able to be together. They had to act broken. Beaten. Like they had given up. And they just wanted a little more time together before the flood gates opened.

On the wall, their father's old wooden clock chimed loudly into the quiet room.

"We have to go now." Elsa whispered. "I know." Anna replied, voice shaking slightly. "I just want to be us for a little while longer." Elsa swallowed hard, pushing down a sob that desperately wanted to escape. Strength. Strength was what they both needed right now. All her life she'd been afraid. She'd felt weak and helpless. And she felt like she wasn't there for her sister. But now she could be. She could be the strong one. She had to be.

Lightly caressing Anna's chin, she gently coaxed the redhead to look into her eyes. "We'll alway be us." she assured her before bringing their lips together in a heart stopping kiss. They're lips crashed together in quiet desperation. Elsa held Anna's face in her hands as she tried to convey every bit of the love and devotion she felt towards the redhead in that one kiss. The need for air caused them to seperate but they didn't go far. Panting into each other's mouths, Anna squeezed her eyes shut for only a moment before opening them and nodding slightly.

"This isn't goodbye, Elsa." she said before slowly breaking their embrace. The redhead only looked over her shoulder once, giving one last glance at the slightly disheveled blonde, before leaving the large office.

At that moment across the castle, Edmond wandered through the long forgotten depths of the royal tower. In the abandoned bowls of the castle, underneath even the empty dungeons, Edmond stood in front of a large door. The door was ornately decorated with hellish symbols and skulls crying out in agony. The dark haired charlatan kneeled in front of it, bowing his head slightly.

"Esir nos fo Etrigan. Tel ti eb ruoy Lliw." Edmond chanted into the room, both hands slightly lifted palms up. At Edmond's words, the door gleamed weakly with a sinister green light.

"Everything is proceeding according to plan my lord." he spoke into the dark room, illuminated only by the few candles melting upon the walls. A low booming voice rang from nowhere and everywhere as it simply responded with one word.

"Good."

As quickly as the green light appeared it vanished. Edmond smirked smugly to himself and rose. Turning around, he walked over to a particularly dark corner and stood in front of the figure chained to the wall.

"I know you think me cruel. But you have no idea of the divine love I have for you and all the people of this petty world. Salvation is coming to Arendelle. Then the world. But you. You probably won't live to see it." he said, lifting the chin of the chained figure.

"If this is your idea of salvation, I pray I don't live to see it. I know who you really are, 'Edmond'. My girls will find out too and they will stop you."

Edmond smirked again before grabbing the figure's neck. The chained figure struggled for air but continued to stare defiantly at the power hungry madman.

"I highly doubt it." he growled before roughly letting go and storming away. The figure gasped for air and watched the snake slither back upstairs.

"They will stop you."

AN: I have been waiting so long to work up to this reveal. Like, literally from the beginning of the story. Now it's finally happening! It's something that I always had in mind for this story. Anyway, I'm sure you all have a few ideas of who the 'chained figure' is, but I would love to hear your guesses! Comment or PM, and stay tuned for more.

PS: There's an easter egg in that chant. Two cookies and a shout out to whoever spots it first!
