Red
Summary: Draco Malfoy hates the colour red with a fiery passion.
Author Notes: Green is an awesome colour. Don't you dare tell me I spelt 'colour' wrong. Or 'favoured'. British spelling will rule you all!
Draco Malfoy hates the colour red with a fiery passion.
Red is the colour of Gryffindor, of Phoenix's and Hate. Passion and desire, lust and blood. Shame, rage, aggression, strength, scars and fire. Enery, excitement and heat . Of all the things Draco hates because he deals with all these things every day. He can't escape it. Every year, Gryffindor will win and red will flood all of his senses. Pansy will lean in to him, her lips too red and her voice full of lust. But cold. This is what confuses Draco.
Warmth. Love. Ginny.
He should hate these things too. Ginny's red hair shines in the fire light. She's warm. She's alive. She's a Gryffindor. She's the perfect connotation of red. So really, it doesn't make a lot of sense that when these things flood his senses (love, desire, heat, Ginny) that he should smile. That he should remember how to breathe and the world seems so much brighter. Redder. And that's okay.
Blood, hate, shame, rage and scars seem to fade away in Ginny's presence. He's starting to think that maybe red can have positive significance too. He's starting to see things he was blind to before (the red of Tom Riddle's eyes) and the world's a more pleasant shade of red that doesn't burn so much as it warms.
Then he sees Ginny's not smiling back. She's smiling at (scars) Harry Potter.
Draco's always favoured green. He'll envy Potter from a distance.
