Chapter 17: The Curse.

A/N: I'll be starting the writing for the story of Inuyasha being abused today or tomorrow and it should be up before the end of the month! It'll be called 'No One Will Believe You' so, keep a look out for that! I have a lot more story ideas after I upload No One Will Believe You, so while I write this story, I'll be also writing one shots. Though, I will not start on another chapter story until this one is finished. :) Without further ado, please enjoy this chapter.
After leaving Brazil, Inuyasha and the others ran into a few Navy ships and did a quick and successful raid: stealing more food, expensive wine, poppy seed, uniforms and other valuable items to be traded off for money later. They then made their way to Spanish Main to grab a jewel shard that Kagome had seen to be there.
Arriving at the Spanish Main port; Kagome, Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kilala all made their way toward what Kagome was the way towards the jewel's glow.
After about a days' worth of walking, they came upon a huge bone graveyard that looked to belong to a gigantic demon at one point. Within the deep innards of the bones, Inuyasha and the others heard what sounded like a hammer hitting metal.
"Well, I guess let's go in." Inuyasha shrugged and started for the intrance with the others following him. However, before they could walk in, they all got zapped by a barrier and thrown several feet away from the entrance. "What the hell was that?" He growled out while jumping to his feet taking his sward out of his sheath and positioning it in front of him.
Kagome and the others getting to their feet as well, getting in their own defensive positions.
Obviously hearing the commotion outside, the owner of the graveyard home - an old demon with big round eyes and balding head with what little of his white hair up in a ponytail - stepped out making Inuyasha lower his sward before sheathing it once again.
"Keh." Inuyasha scoffed earning skeptical looks from all the others. "So, this where you've been hiding - huh Old Man Totosai? What's up with the fucking barrier?"
"Oh, Master Inuyasha, is that you?" Totosai cocked his head to the side.
"Keh, yeah it's me. Now, answer me - old man - what's up with a barrier? You've never used one before." Inuyasha growled.
Bringing up a hand to scratch his balding head. "Hmm, barrier you say?" Totosai asked in confusion.
Before Inuyasha could get really mad a shout of his name stopped him from striking Totosai as he normally would.
"Master Inuyasha!" A bodiless voice cried out shocking all the others except for Kagome who knew who the voice belonged too as well as who the old man that stood in front of them was. So, she wasn't surprised as the others were when Inuyasha seemingly slapped himself in the face then looked down at his hand.
Curiosity getting the better of them, Sango and Miroku walked up to Inuyasha and stood on either side of him to look at his hand.
"Oh, look." Sango said in surprise. "It's a flea. Thank goodness, I was afraid you were going crazy, Inuyasha." Sango smiled innocently at Inuyasha as he gave her a deadpanned stare.
Chuckling in amusement, Kagome came to stand beside Sango to look over her shoulder. "That's Myoga and that's Totosai." She said pointing at each demon. "They are Inuyasha's servants, has been since before Inuyasha was even born. Totosai even commissioned Inuyasha's sward when he was a baby."
"Oh, Lady Kagome! I didn't notice you were here!" Myoga called out jumping from Inuyasha and latching himself on Kagome's neck before promptly getting slapped by said girl.
"Such is the life of a flea." Myoga muttered out as he floated down and landed on Kagome's hand before puffing up out of his flattened state.
Rolling his eyes at Myoga, Inuyasha filled in for what Kagome didn't know. "After my old man passed away, Sesshomaru chased them off - stating that anyone serving under a 'filthy half breed'" he spat in disgust "they would die. I offered them to become pirates with me, but they were too much of a coward to take me up on that offer."
"Lady Kagome." Myoga continued as if Inuyasha hadn't spoken. "You really are cruel, I've always thought your blood was the best tasting, even over Master Inuyasha's."
"Gee, thanks." Kagome mumbled under her breath as she narrowed her eyes at Myoga.
"Yeah, yeah." Inuyasha muttered out as he swiped Myoga out of Kagome's hand and placed him between his pointer finger and thumb. "Now, give us the jewel shard and I won't flatten you."
"Pardon me, Master Inuyasha, but can I ask you what you want with the jewel shard anyway?" Myoga wondered out loud.
"It's my job to find all the pieces of the sacred jewel and piece them back together to complete the jewel and place it back into its original holding place and save the world from dying." Kagome answered for Inuyasha.
"Ah, I see. Well-" Myoga started but was interrupted by Totosai.
Totosai sighed. "I didn't want to say this, but there's someone out to take my life. Defeat him and I'll give you the jewel shard."
"Keh, what do I look like? Your personal exterminator? We're on a very limited time frame, just give me the damn jewel shard!" Inuyasha growled.
"Inuyasha, maybe we should help them." Kagome whispered. "We're going to take their only form of protection away from them leaving them defenseless."
"We don't have time to help every single person that cries they need fucking help, Kagome." Inuyasha shouted out.
"Yeah, but -" Kagome whispered but got cut off by Totosai.
"Oh no, he's here." Totosai said in fear.
"Well, well, well, what a little coincidence running into you while coming to pick up my order." A very familiar voice smoothly said making the group turn around as the figure stepped into view.
"Naraku? What the fuck are you doing here?" Inuyasha growled out as he whipped out his sward pointing it at Naraku as Kagome notched back an arrow and pointing it at Naraku as well, Sango and Miroku got in defensive poses as well.
"What I'm doing here is no concern of you whatsoever." Naraku sneered at Inuyasha. "Totosai!" He called moving his eyes from Inuyasha to Totosai as he spoke. "I trust you have my order ready for pick-up?"
"Oh, um, yeah I do! B-but if you want it, you must fight Inuyasha and win, if you don't prove yourself worthy then you don't get your sward." Totosai stuttered out as he turned and high-tailed it back to the safety of the sacred jewel shard barrier.
"What!? Hey, old man, why are you trying to do here!?" Inuyasha growled out watching as Totosai disappeared behind the barrier.
"So, all I have to do is kill you to get my sward? Then I'll gladly oblige the old man by ending your life." Naraku said as he moved to attack Inuyasha. However, didn't make it too far before a demonically charged arrow flew passed his face making him stopped and shoot murderous daggers towards Kagome.
"Take one more step and I promise you, the next one won't miss!" Kagome ground out as she notched back another arrow.
"Totosai was never going to make you anything. You see, he is very picky with who he chooses as customers. Now, why don't you do all of us a favor and die." Inuyasha said as he unleashed his wind scar that was shortly followed by Kagome's charged arrow as well as Sango's Hiraikotsu and Miroku's sacred sutras.
A huge explosion went off when everything hit Naraku and when the smoke and debris cleared, he was nowhere in sight.
"Is he gone?" Totosai asked in shaky voice as he peered out his door.
"No, he's still here. That was too easy." Inuyasha answered as he looked around the clearing.
"Yes." Miroku agreed surveying the area as well. "But where did he go?"
"Can you pick up on his scent?" Sango asked both Kagome and Inuyasha.
"No." Both Kagome and Inuyasha said at the same time.
"This is bad, Inuyasha. I can't sense him anywhere." Kagome whispered, however, before Inuyasha could answer Kagome cried out in pain as she fell to the ground gripping her ankle and before anyone could react a huge white snake slithered up Kagome's body and down her arm stealing the jewel from around her wrist and slithering away as fast as lightening.
"Kagome, are you okay?" Inuyasha asked as he knelt down to better look Kagome in her eyes.
"Uh, y-yeah, I'm fine." Kagome muttered out as she continued to rub her ankle.
"What the hell just happened?" Sango shouted out angrily as she searched the clearing for anything out of place.
Before anyone could do anything, however, two jet black jewel shards came sailing through the air and embedded themselves inside of Kagome's neck effectively knocking her out.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha shouted as he watched helplessly as he caught Kagome from falling to the ground and gently laid her down. "Kagome, can you hear me!?" He was panicking and he knew he was, but he couldn't help it. He felt his heart lodge in his throat as he realized that he was at a loss of what to do and how to help.
"W-what happened to her?" Shippo asked as tears gathered in his big green eyes.
"K-Kagome?" Sango whispered as tears leaked down her cheeks and her legs buckled from under her. What were they going to do? What was they supposed to do? How was they supposed to get Kagome to wake up? Sango watched helplessly as she watched Inuyasha gently shake her and calling her name. What was they going to do? Suddenly her helplessness turned into boiling rage as she jumped back to her feet spinning around in a circle desperately trying to find something that didn't belong. Anything to wake her captain, her best friend, her sister, up.
"Kilala!" Sango yelled and right on cue, Kilala transformed in her giant fire cat form to let Sango climb on her back. Sango looked back at Miroku - "are you coming?"
"Yes!" Miroku nodded with a determined look and jumped on Kilala's back before looking back at Inuyasha. "You stay here and watch after Kagome!"
"As if I was going to leave her side." Inuyasha scoffed not looking away from Kagome.
"Right!" Sango said. "We'll try to find them as quickly as possible! Kilala, go!"
Inuyasha looked away from Kagome long enough to watch Sango and Miroku fly away. "You'd better hurry." He whispered before looking back at Kagome's face.
