I don't own Harry Potter
Events happen after the escape from the Malfoy Manor. This is my interpretation of the torture that the Malfoys endured.
It was unbelievable how easily Potter and his companions were able to outsmart the Snatchers and her family. Now that their prisoners had disappeared, Narcissa Malfoy knew that they were in trouble. Trouble wasn't the word that would describe their current situation. Danger was more appropriate. Her eyes traveled to the contents of the chandelier that had dropped on the floor not too long ago from that ex-house elf and then over to her husband's body that lied on the floor. Now as not the moment for her to sympathize with herself and think why they had fallen in the Dark Lord's clutches? Why couldn't they just escape from him? She knew that even if they were able to do this, the Dark Lord would have his way in finding them and killing them. A shiver ran down her spine and not from the cold contents of the manor, but the thought of the Dark Lord pointing his wand and screaming out those Unforgivable Curses. She didn't care if it was on her that he would do it, but on her son. Ever since he had been chosen to be a part of the Death Eaters, she had done everything she could in her power to ensure that Draco was kept safe. Thus far, it had worked much appreciated to Snape's assistance and the Unbreakable Vow, but now she didn't know how long that protection was able to hold.
No she thought to herself as her eyes then fell upon her son, who was knelt over his father's body and trying his best to at least wake him up from being stunned. I cannot let anything happen to them. She then looked over at her eldest sister who was pacing back and forth, more frantic than usual. Not only was the Dark Lord highly dangerous but he was highly intelligent and Narcissa would deem herself a fool if she thought that he didn't know about Potter's whereabouts here in the manor.
"He's coming," she heard Bellatrix's frantic whispers, "he is coming here."
Never before had Narcissa seen her sister look so, should she say frightened, about the Dark Lord's arrival. She was frightened herself but she knew what she must do, no matter how much intimidating the Dark Lord was. From her peripheral vision, she caught sight of a dark streak pass by the window and before she knew it, in came the Dark Lord inside the manor with that snake slithering next to him.
A gasp escaped Bellatrix's lips as she immediately bowed to the figure before her. Narcissa stood straight and watched as Lord Voldemort walked inside the manor as if this was his own home. Ever since their manor had been turned into the Death Eaters' meeting headquarters, she felt that they were stripped of their right to have any safety. Ever since her husband's unfortunate mission to retrieve that prophecy two years ago, Voldemort had lost his respect for the family. However, that didn't mean that Narcissa agreed with the Dark Lord's action.
"My Lord," Bellatrix's breathless voice filled the manor as she walked over to Voldemort, who stood there calmly and looked at the wild haired woman. "We are sorry that you had to come all this way but we-"
"Had him," Voldemort interrupted Bellatrix. Both to the sisters' surprise, he seemed rather...calm as he spoke and that made him even more dangerous. "I am aware of that Bellatrix. Sources have informed me that Harry Potter and his companions were here and yet..." he turned his eyes and looked over at Lucius Malfoy, who had awoken from the stunning spell, and Draco, who continued to stay by his father's side.
Narcissa took a step towards her husband and son and stood by their side, her eyes never leaving Voldemort's as he followed her action.
"...none of you kept them here!" he bellowed as he held out his wand towards his most loyal Death Eater. Bellatrix's eyes opened wide when he did so and before she had a chance to react, she was hit by the Cruciatus Curse. He watched as the woman's body crumpled on the floor and after a while, her body stopped responding after the spell had subsided. "Bellatrix, my most loyal servant who couldn't even perform a simple task."
He pointed to the wand towards her once more, but did not utter a spell. He knew how loyal she had been to him after so many years, but now he didn't know how much that loyalty was. He had been so close in killing Potter and this opportunity had slipped away from his fingers again. "Perhaps consider yourself lucky Bellatrix, without your loyalty I wouldn't have been so merciful."
Merciful Narcissa thought at that word. The Dark Lord was anything but merciful. Before she knew it, Lucius stood up on his feet and stood beside her along with Draco. That time spent in Azkaban, the torture, and the stress that had been put upon him made him look so ragged. That elegance that he beheld was completely gone and replaced by a man reduced to nothingness.
"And what of you my slippery friend?" Voldemort asked as he rounded on Lucius and stood just a centimeter away from him.
Narcissa noticed how Draco took a step away from the Dark Lord, but tried not to make it too noticeable. It may have gone unnoticed from the Dark Lord but not from the mother's eyes. She could see how fearful he was to be in this situation and there was nothing she could do to take him out of it.
"Why did you notify me the moment that the Potter boy was here?" Voldemort inquired, threateningly keeping his wand in hand.
It had to have been a moment of assurance for them to call the Dark Lord. When Harry Potter had been captured with his companions, he didn't look like the Harry Potter that they knew and that couldn't risk that. "W-We weren't too sure if it was him, m-my Lord," Lucius finally answered his question. "It was...too late to..." he was about to continue that sentence when Narcissa interrupted him by gently grabbing his wrist. Any further than that and the Dark Lord may as well kill all of them at this very moment.
Even if Narcissa ceased her husband's words, that was not good enough for Voldemort. Still with a calm demeanor, and trying to keep that anger within himself, he pulled away from Lucius. "Even after so many years, Lucius, you are still a disappointment. How can you live with yourself? So, so weak in the eyes of your wife and your son."
Narcissa watched as her husband visibly flinched at those words thrown at him. Suddenly, everything moved so quickly that she found her husband on the floor again writhing in pain due to the Cruciatus Curse. "No!" she heard herself scream as she knelt before her husband and held onto him as if her body was going to protect him against the spell that he was suffering from. All the force that Voldemort could muster he placed it upon that one spell and the more he did it, the more torture Lucius endured.
Narcissa could feel tears beginning to sting her eyes but she didn't want to show that weakness to the Dark Lord.
"Get yourself up Narcissa you're only making it worse for him," Voldemort said to the woman, "your family has failed me and thus they ought to suffer the consequences! CRUCIO!"
There was anger in his voice when he spoke to her, anger that would give anyone the determination to steer clear away from him, and enough to anger to cause more torture to her husband. However, Narcissa couldn't do that. When the patriarch was unable to care for the family, it was the matriarch that took over and Narcissa believed that her time had come. "Please my Lord," she found herself pleading to the powerful dark wizard, something that she had never done before and yet found so foolish to do.
With the anger boiling within him, Voldemort pulled away his wand for Lucius and when he raised it, it was pointed directly at Draco. The younger Malfoy jumped in place but before Voldemort had a chance to spew out an Unforgivable Curse, Narcissa immediately ran in front of her son and shielded him away from the Dark Lord's view. It was a sight that Voldemort had seen many, many years ago. A sight where a mother had placed herself between her son and sacrificed herself to save him and he was fighting against this Boy Who Lived. He lowered his wand and looked at Narcissa upon the action that she took and he could see both the determination and fear in her eyes that she had.
Was this a challenge that she portrayed or did she really love her son to sacrifice herself?
"CRUCIO!" Voldemort yelled as the spell flew out of his wand and hit Narcissa's body.
A yell escaped from Narcissa's mouth as she numbly crumpled onto the floor and felt that unforgivable sensation hitting her body. She swore she heard Draco yell 'mum' when she fell but at least she had shielded him away from receiving such a punishment. When she felt that her body was regaining some strength, she was hit by it once more but less severe than how Voldemort punished her husband. She felt Draco's hands on her arm as he held onto her but even she couldn't find the strength to get herself up even after being hit by such a spell.
Voldemort then towered over Draco and he hesitantly looked up at the powerful wizard before him. "Let this be a lesson to you about your parents' failure young Draco," he said to him before taking a step back. "None of you are to move from this manor until I instruct you to do so," he said as his eyes bore upon Bellatrix and she managed to find the strength to nod her had to the Dark Lord. "Come Nagini," he spoke to his snake before they Apparated out of the manor.
Now he was gone and they were under house arrest. Even though Narcissa had to endure seeing her husband get tortured in front of her eyes, she was at least glad that her son was unharmed.
And that's what she was going to continue doing until this whole war was over...even if it killed her.
The End.
