And here we go! Finally I have sort out my thoughts and finished writing for Flowerfell!
Also, I am going to officially write the original story. It will be called UT: Resolution, and I will make a separate story section for it since it's going to be long, and it takes place before all of these stories.
Anyway, enjoy!
Upon a snow covered road stood two figures standing face to face. One was a teenage girl with a black, long-sleeved shirt with two blue stripes across it, black pants that reached to her brown boots, and her brown hair reached her shoulders while her pink eyes were mostly closed. The other was a young woman with black clothing that had orange edges on the shirt and pants that matched her black hair with orange tips, a yellow scarf that matched her eye color, and a yellow sash around her waist that wrapped over a red half skirt she wore over the pants. The girl had a flower that stood wrapped on her upper arm with his vines who stared at the woman with a distrustful expression, and the most distinct feature she had were a small cluster of yellow buttercups that grew on one side of her forehead almost over one of her eyes.
At this point, the two were having a stare down because the woman ran ahead quickly to reach the human she sensed underground, but she felt like she ran this same route a few times already but didn't make it on account of not being fast enough. The girl was shaken by how quickly the woman appeared, not knowing her intentions at the moment but noticing that this woman didn't seem to be threatening, but more worried? This was strange considering that they had just met, and even the woman felt odd about her sudden concern, but she was focused on the buttercups growing upon the girl's face. The flower with a face was concerned for the girl, and ready to face this woman if need be.
Then the woman breathed in and out as she finally settled down her adrenaline from the run and smirked, which was her usual expression.
"So you're the human who's here huh? I see you're not alone technically… but how strange for a human to have flowers growing on 'em. Makes me question whether you're a human or a plant," the woman commented.
"W-Well, I am human, and this is… just something that came with being here is all," the girl said, making the flower grow a little nervous that she might be talking too much.
"Hmm… came with being here… sounds like a spell or curse you got there, but I don't know of a monster who could make a curse of being a walking flowerpot," the woman said, as she put her hands in her pants pockets to think.
"We're not sure either. But if you don't mind we'd like to get by," the flower said.
"Ah! So it does speak. Well I don't know. Seems like a rough road ahead for you two to be walking down. Might make sense to end you here while I still can. I don't suppose anyone here will show you anymore mercy than that honestly," the woman said casually, but still frightening the two.
However, the girl decided to take the risk of speaking more to this woman who seemed familiar the more she spoke with her, and considering she seemed intent on showing mercy, although she had a funny way of showing it,
"That... would not make a difference. This curse will only bring me back again. Then cause another one of these flowers to grow again… and it seems it will be this way until there is… nothing left."
The woman's eyebrows raised as she stared at the girl in a frozen state.
"… You mean, when you die, you come back again?" the woman asked, with more interest but also with some form of fear for the answer.
"Yes. Time will reset to a point before the incident of my demise. I will basically relive it until I can find a way to get through it… I don't have a choice of whether I return or not," the girl replied.
"What the… that sounds like a pretty… torturous and ridiculous curse," the woman said, looking away in almost disbelief.
"Well, believe what you will, but we should be going now," the flower said, looking towards the girl more pleadingly.
"I've repeated the same route a few times already, and it continues as each of these buds spread after each reset… if you wish to test it, you may. We'll only end up back here again," the girl said as the flower was shocked.
The woman looked back at her, and she took her hands out of her pockets as she drew a dagger that seemed to be a part of her ponytail with one hand. She rushed forward as the girl firmly closed her eyes and readied herself to die, while the flower screamed,
"Frisk!"
The girl, Frisk, realized that she was still alive as she opened her eyes to see the woman's dagger an inch away from her face. She was surprised by how close the blade was, but more so by the expression of the woman's face that was filled with as much surprise as her own.
"That name. I know that name… I heard that flower call that name before, and then I ended up back in the Ruins after…" the woman lowered her blade as she took a step back.
Frisk and the flower realized that this woman remembered the most recent of resets that happened further down the road from where they were.
"… You actually remember a reset," Frisk almost whispered, as the woman's eyes widened in realization of the power of a reset.
"… What the heck is this? What madness is this?!" the woman said, now realizing that the girl before her spoke the truth and that even the part where the girl dies for it to occur is most likely fact.
"I don't know, but… I've just been trying to survive here, and maybe if… if I get to the surface, then maybe it will stop… it's just a hunch, but maybe being here is what's doing this to me since I never had this before," Frisk concluded.
"… You're a tough kid to keep going even like this… even through this place… and I assume no one else remembers like you two, and me?" the woman asked.
"I think so, but one guy here is making me feel unsure about us being the only ones…" Frisk said, and the woman nodded slowly.
"Who's the guy?" the woman asked.
"His name is Sans," Frisk replied.
"He's a skeleton who's been getting in our way lately, and he's been pretty intent on not letting us make it to Snowdin town… no matter what," the flower said.
"… So he's the reason we've been in a loop," the woman said, growing a little irritated and yet a smirk appeared on her face.
"Pretty much," Frisk confirmed.
"Well, I can't let you go on like this. It's too pitiful and… you're a strong kid, so I'll help ya fight him off then," the woman offered, but was surprised to see Frisk shake her head.
"I don't want to hurt anyone. If anything, I'd rather be friends or avoid conflict if I can."
"She's really insistent on that. No matter what it costs," the flower said as he made a quick glance towards the buttercups.
"You're crazy... but I respect that conviction considering how determined you are to keep it. I'll see what I can do if it means that much to you, but no promises if it gets too close, okay?" the woman said, and Frisk nodded.
"Thank you… what is your name? Mine is Frisk."
"Heh, My name is Curtain, but call me… Autumn," Curtain, known as Autumn, replied as she extended her hand towards her.
Frisk shook hands with Autumn, and when they separated, the flower brought forth his vine and said,
"I'm Flowey. Flowey the flower. Since you're going to help, I guess I'll trust you for now."
"Hehehe. You're one to talk about trust. Those flowers growing on her are yellow like you, but it seems like you didn't cause this predicament," Autumn said as she shook hands with his vine-hand.
"Fair point, but I assure you I did not cause this. Nor wish for it to continue," Flowey said.
Frisk and Flowey went on ahead as Autumn followed in the shadows to prevent herself from being seen. After walking across the bridge to head to Snowdin village, they stopped to see Sans the skeleton waiting for them. His golden tooth gleamed in his sharp-tooth mouth, his pupils were red, and he wore a black puffy jacket over a red shirt, and a black and red stripped scarf around his neck, along with black pants with two yellow lines on the sides and red and white sneakers.
Although Sans' expression was agitated, Frisk noticed reluctance in his eyes as he said,
"… Why?"
Frisk tilted her head a bit since he didn't ask this question before, and Sans added in a louder voice,
"Why did you come back?!"
Frisk was surprised by his sudden outburst, but she noticed that his hands were slightly shaking.
"I don't know what you mean."
"You know freaking well what I'm talking about! Every darn time I… every time I get rid of you, you keep coming back, and another one of those freaky flowers shows up!" Sans said, as he pointed to the buttercups above her brow.
"So you remember too," Frisk said, as Sans' eyes slightly widened.
"Be careful Frisk," Flowey whispered to her as he stood behind her shoulder.
"… Then it's true. Those dreams or visions or whatever! They were real… but you keep trying. What are you trying to prove?! Why don't you fight or just die?! You're only torturing yourself!" Sans yelled out as he took a few steps forward.
"… I don't want to settle things like that. I don't want to fight and kill… I'd rather find another way. That's just who I am… what about you? Do you still believe killing me is the answer?" Frisk asked, and Sans grew instantly irritated.
"You… FOOL!" Sans yelled as he summoned red bones that were sharpened at one end and sent them to attack her.
Frisk was about to dodge but she stood in place.
"Frisk wh-!" Before Flowey could finish speaking, the red bones were deflected in all different directions as Autumn stood in front of them while holding her dagger backhanded.
Upon seeing the skill of the lady standing between him and the human, Sans couldn't help but stare at her in bewilderment and amazement.
"I assume your name is Sans, correct?" Autumn asked with her natural smirk.
"… Who are you to know my name? And to protect this human?" Sans asked, his eyes narrowing.
"I am Curtain, but please, call me Autumn. I happen to be the most beautiful creature you will probably ever lay your eyes on, and as I see it, this girl doesn't have a weapon nor show intent to fight back. Seems rather dishonorable to attack such a frail opponent… especially as many times as you have already, skeleman," Autumn replied, balancing her blade on one finger.
"Curtain… Cur… tain…" Sans said, as his mind felt heavy from the burden of fuzzy memories while Autumn stopped playing with her blade upon hearing the way he said her name.
Sans brought his hands to the sides of his head as he shouted in frustration, "Why Why WHY?! Why do I feel like I've been in this place and met you before?! Why does everything feel so mixed up and crazy?! Ever since that girl came, everything I've ever known is falling apart! What the hell is this?!"
Frisk began to grow worried, as Flowey grew nervous, and Autumn stood her ground although with a small amount of empathy hidden in her heart. Red energy began to scatter from Sans' body, as Frisk took a few steps back.
"Just stop already!" Sans yelled out as he sent a rush of bones upward that rained down to land upon the human girl and flower.
However, Autumn was already on the move as she jumped back and Frisk, on instinct, reached out and wrapped her arms around her neck. Autumn then began running to dodge the barrage of sharp bones as Frisk held onto her back, while Flowey also assisted by shielding against a few bones that came too close to them. Sans was surprised by how well Autumn dodged his attack, and that when she placed Frisk down, she ran straight towards him with her dagger.
'Oh shoot,' Sans thought, as he summoned a large bone and blocked Autumn's attack.
A wave of energy spread on contact, and although Frisk and Flowey were amazed by it, Sans failed to take notice of the equality of their powers as he felt his heart twist upon seeing tears falling from Autumn's eyes. For a moment they stood in that stance with their weapons still on contact, staring deep into each other's eyes that were filled with mixed emotions.
There was no escape from this fate, nor avoiding it any longer, or else repeating it until the human could no longer function from the effects of the flowers.
They only had each other in this scenario considering that they were the only ones to recall what was happening, and it only seemed fitting for them to stick together, although there was a little reluctance from the cost of doing so. However, the thought of realizing that this same scenario may have happened between them already only brought more dread, but also fully convinced them to cease their own violence, as Sans felt liquid also pouring from his eye-sockets like Autumn. They lowered their weapons as they took a moment to wipe their faces.
"… So, your name is Cur- Autumn, right?" Sans asked, as he finally calmed down while Frisk slowly approached them.
"… Yeah. I heard yours was Sans, the skeleton," Autumn replied.
"Yep. You can just… call me Fall," Sans, known as Fall, said.
"Hehehehe, we match," Autumn said with a small smirk, as Fall smirked back.
They turned towards Frisk and Flowey when they were close enough to them.
"Sooo, what now?" Flowey asked the human, although it seemed like he was asking everyone.
"Sa- I mean, Fall, can we pass through here?" Frisk asked him.
"… Alright, alright. I'll let ya go, but you know you're not going to make it through right?" Fall asked, as Frisk looked downward for a moment.
"I'm sure she's determined enough to try. She made it this far," Autumn commented.
"Hmph. Well, I can't disagree. Hopefully you won't fall into too much trouble," Fall said with a wink, as he put his hands in his jacket pockets, while Autumn and Frisk smiled a bit and Flowey frowned.
A cold wind blew as Frisk rubbed her arms with a shiver, noting that the more buttercups that grew, the more sensitive she became to the environment. Fall and Autumn glanced towards one another, and they both sighed.
"Geez sweetheart, ya need to take better care of yourself," Fall said, as he walked a little ahead of Frisk without his jacket on since he gave it to her.
"Seriously. Though you're probably hungry, so maybe some food will help ya, deary," Autumn added, as she walked next to Fall without her yellow sash since she gave it to Frisk to wear as a scarf like her own.
Although her situation seemed dreary at first, Frisk smiled as she felt more hopeful with her two new companions, and she also noticed that the two were glancing towards one another often until they exchanged a smile to each other that seemed to pull them closer as they walked the narrow road together.
And that's it for Flowerfell for now! So the next story is... hmmm... I can't do Aftertale now so that has to wait...
