Legend of the Sword Dancer: The Lost Girl

Emilya... Shirou didn't bother correcting that mistake. She wanted to remember Illya after all, for Emilya is both Emiya Shirou and Illyasveil von Einzbern. So far she is quite awkward seeing her naked self in front of a mirror. Her new skin soft as a baby's bottom, complete unblemished by bruising or scars, and rather sensitive. The lord of the house, Laurence de Maillart as he introduced himself, gave orders to the maid to help prepare the guest. The dutiful maid had done so, giving her a good scrubbing.

Her new body was sensitive, specially getting used to the feeling of having someone bathe you.

"Why are you doing this!?" Emilya protested.

"The lord is having visitors and as head maid it is my duty to make sure everything is presentable." the maid explained.

"But-"

"No buts young lady," the maid interrupted. "Honestly, you are worse than Lady Karin when I first bathe her, at least she knows how to hold still."

"It doesn't help that I'm still getting used to this body." Emilya though.

After the bath, the maid once again assisted her in changing clothes, much to Emilya's displeasure. She was used to doing things by himself when she was still a boy.

"Lord Laurence went ahead and had a few clothes prepared for you." the maid explained. "It is best you'd behave as the visitors are of higher Nobility."

Emilya stared at the dress given to her. She swore some higher being is watching her, that or her supposed E-Rank luck is once again in effect. A blue and white dress with yellow trim was what she was staring at. The maid then helped put on the dress, and fixed her hair. By the time the maid was done, she looked like a younger Arthoria Pendragon with pink instead of blonde hair.

"We will proceed to the study now young lady," the maid said. "I will guide you there."

"Thank you ehm-" Emilya replied. "I've never gotten your name..."

The maid had a surprised look after, then she smiled. "My name is Stella young lady."

The manor was large, it kind of great that Emilya had a guide. The head maid Stella was guiding her through the hall and into another room. As soon as she entered, she gasped at the sight of the room filled with books. It was not as big as the library in Fuyuki, but it seemed too much for just one family's study.

Emilya looked around, and soon her gaze landed on the group of men sitting at the center of the room. The first she saw was Laurence, and besides him was a man dressed in what looked like a priest's robes, and another well dressed gentleman.

"You never told us you had another daughter Laurence." the other man said. "I see she takes after my cousin Eileen as well."

"You are mistaken Duke de la Vallerie," the priest corrected. "This is the girl Laurence have told you about."

"Interesting," the priest said looking at Emilya. "The blessing of magic that surrounds her is unique, it is not of the four usual colors."

"That is also why I requested you to come Father Mazarin," Laurence said. "Because Cardinal Sergio Giovana is currently in Romalia, I am asking for your help regarding her."

The priest then looks at Emilya one more time, examining her from head to toe.

"Are you sure she is not your daughter Laurence?" Father Mazarin asked. "For all I know you hid her existence because of such unique magic aura."

"I have not lied about saving her from falling from the sky." Laurence answered.

The priest now looks at Emilya formally acknowledging her presence in the room, "Young Lady, may I know your name?"

Emilya looked at the priest, while she had not the best experience with priests, she felt that this one is different form the one she knew. She thought about the name she would give, initially she wanted to say her true name, however she remembered the name Laurence mistook for her.

"Emilya." Emilya answered.

"No family name my dear?"

"..."

"Young miss?" Duke asked.

"It's complicated." Emilya finally answered.

The priest once again studied Emilya, and for once she shifted under his gaze. His gaze shifted to her hands, he could see clearly that she was on guard. But what surprised him the most was he could see her gathering willpower into her hands. Her actions were akin to a knight who just came home from war.

"She is traumatized." Father Mazarin thought. "Something prior to her falling from the sky, as Laurence insists, caused a sever trauma upon a young child."

The priest then whispered something to the man named Duke, before looking at Laurence. She managed to hear some of their conversations before Laurence gestured for the maid to bring her outside. Something about "possibly the fifth element" and "having to report to the king". Shirou did find that odd though, after all, doesn't Magecraft categorize in five elements? Her former ally/mentor Rin has an affinity to all five after all.

The head maid Stella lead Emilya to another part of the manor. This time leading her to the gardens where both Eileen and Karin were having their snacks. Eileen notices them and gestured for them to proceed. Karin watched as the girl who fell from the sky approached them, noticing the similarities shared between them. It looked like she was indeed her sister.

Kairin stood and greeted. "Hello, my name is Karin Desiree de Maillart, Heiress of the Maillart Family, might I know your name?."

Emilya stood there unable to respond, she didn't know how to properly respond. Just this once she went and looked at Illya's memories hoping to find one quickly.

"My name is Emilya Lady Karin," Emilya responded. "A pleasure to meet you."

"No family name?" Eileen asked.

"It's... complicated..."

"Why don't you join us dear?" Eileen then asked, noticing Emilya's discomfort when that was brought up. "Stella, could you go prepare a batch for her?"

Stella nodded and left with the trolley, while Emilya sat herself down beside Karin. A few minutes later, Stella returned with a pot of tea, a slice of pie and biscuits. She carefully placed the pie in front of Emilya and then poured her a cup of tea. She went for the pie first, noticing that she enjoyed its sweetness before finishing with the tea and biscuits.

"The pie was sweet, but somehow I quite liked it." Emilya thought. "But the tea is wrong, they didn't even use the same leaves, it's more like hot leaf juice mix."

Somehow, Stella noticed Emilya's expression after the tea. "Is the tea not your liking Lady Emilya?"

Shiou was caught by surprise, she didn't expect the maid to notice. It must be this new body she thought.

"It's not bad," Emilya explained. "It's just, well..."

"How should I explain this?" Emilya thought.

"... The mixture of three different types of tea leaves compete with each other." Emilya explained. "It's like having three differently seasoned meat being tasted at the same time."

"Three?" Karin asked. "Wow your taste must be refined to tell the difference."

"Apologies Lady Emilya," Stella said lowering her head. " I must have not drained the tea pot properly before adding the new tea."

"No need to apologize miss Stella," Emilya assured. "It's not that big of a deal."

While the women were at the garden, the men were in deep conversation regarding Emilya.

"The girl is hiding something," Father Mazarin stated. "The brief hesitation, her refusal to state her name, and most of all, her weariness with me."

"Don't you suppose that she has a bad experience with the Church?" Duke asked.

"No," Father Mazarin corrected. "Otherwise she would have reacted to the Holy Statue Lord Laurence keeps at the door. No the girl has bad experience with clergymen specifically."

"If it is trauma your excellency," Laurence said. "Is there a way to help her cope with it?"

"There is this one "therapist" the former Knight's Comander visit." Duke suggested. "I once had a conversation with him, and asked him how he coped with the loss of his son."

"Do you think he can help the child?" Laurence asked.

"I suppose he could." Duke said. "Anything to add Father Mazarin? You seem to be thinking hard."

"Reporting this to the Cardinal would be trouble." Father Mazarin explained. "And you are also required to report this to King Phillip since this could become a political issue."

Laurence was in deep thought due to Father Mazarin's words, Emilya's condition will at some point reach Romalia. Her silver aura and wand-less casting could spell trouble once it reached the neighboring countries.

"Could we limit the people who know of her condition?" Laurence asked.

"We could," Duke and Father Mazarin answered.

"But no secret could last." Father Mazarin added.

"Even for a short while that would be enough." Laurence said.

"If this blows up," Duke explained. "She will not have anyone to support her. And even if she has a complicated situation with her family, you will have no other option but to return her should her family ask for her."

"Then I'll adopt her." Laurence stated. "Her family be damned."

Both Father Mazarin and Duke were looking at him with surprise.

"Hear me out," Laurence explained. "If she doesn't want to return to her family, we will become hers. She can already pass as my daughter due to the similarities she shares with my wife and Karin."

"And if her family insist of returning her?" Duke asked.

"Simple," Laurence answered. "We use the trauma her family caused to her as leverage. I would rather raise the girl as my own than return her to a family that would traumatize her."

"I have never seen you this determined Lord Laurence," Duke said. "Very well, I shall try to limit this information."

"As shall I," Father Mazarin said. "But do expect that at some point Cardinal Sergio, or worse the Pope himself will ask for her presence."

"I will be prepared." Laurence stated. "Now, about that therapist?"

"I believe he can be found in the Capital," Duke answered. "I shall ask the former commander to assist you should you visit."

"Does this therapist have a name?"

"If I recall correctly Kishcur Zelretch Schweinorg."

POST CHAPTER NOTES:

To answer some questions...

1. I plan on continuing the story beyond the One-Shot ending, continuing up to the time of Familiar of Zero Canon.

2. I did plan on having Emilya/Shirou summon Berserker Heracles since the one-shot, but I am having second thoughts on following the One-Shot's plot, so that could still be a possibility.

3. I cannot get the word Stella out of my head for some reason, maybe I should stop taking Arash Airlines. I am aware of one of the Einzbern maid's name is Sella, so that's where I got the idea for the head maid.
