Chapter 4: Autumn Leaves And A Rose
Dee was laying on the leaves when everything was playing again over and over in her head. "Kevin is probably mad, he for sure is going to beat me up next time I see him," Dee though as she played with the leaves. Letting all of them fall on her bright red nails. She then began to think of Kevin again. His sweet smile, his fire burning hair, and the way his hand held her own. "He must really think I'm a freak now, I'm sure he has told everyone," Dee said wiping her tears with her free hand. She then began to think of all the bacteria on the ground I quickly sat up looking at the sun setting.
Sound of crunching Leaves and footsteps
Dee turned her head quickly and saw Kevin with the look of frustration. "Kevin? What ddd..do you want?," she managed to ask stuttering due to fear. "Please go away, I didn't mean to get you mad or angry with me," Dee said tears falling down her face. Kevin looked at Dee and slowly sat with her. "You know you left pretty quick before I could say anything Dee," Kevin said taking off his cap to scratch his scalp and placed it back on his head again. She looked at him then back at the grass. "I though you would get mad and want to beat me up," Dee said scooting away from Kevin. "You and I never had a great friendship cause you always made fun of the Eds and I, plus always wanting to pound us for our scams," Dee said looking at Kevin meeting his green emerald eyes. "Dee you really shouldn't sell me short, I've grown up since sophomore year," Kevin said as he looked deep in Dee's Sapphire eyes. "Even if I was caught off guard I'm not going to be mad about you not telling me." Kevin said taking out a cigarette and liting it. "Plus I would never lay a hand on a woman, I'm not that kind of guy Dee," Kevin said blushing as the smoke came out showing a sly smile. "You know Kevin you shouldn't be smoking, it's bad for you," Dee said smiling as she enjoyed his company. "Nah look at this body, pure gold," Kevin said flexing his biceps. Dee's eyes landed on them as she looked away blushing.
The wind started to get cool
"So when did you start this process?" Kevin asked as politely as he could. "I started about two months ago, I'm still going through my second puberty but I have a feeling I'll be done by the end of two years," Dee said trying to be as informative as possible. "Well you look pretty damn beautiful," Kevin said blushing and rubbing the back of his neck. "You think I'm beautiful ?" Dee said looking up into Kevin's eyes as she shivered from the cold air. Kevin smiled and handed Dee his jacket. "Here take my jacket it will keep you warm," Kevin said as Dee slowly put it on. Dee smiled and could smell Kevin's cologne. "Wow how jacket smells so good," Dee though to herself. "So you never answered my question," Kevin said as he looked up to Dee. "You never answered mine," Dee said smiling as she flipped her hair to the side. Kevin stayed quite and was turning red. "It's fine you don't have to answer," Dee said looking up at the stars that are starting to appear. "Yes," Kevin said as he slowly looked up at the stars. "Even when you were in that orange robe, I though you were beautiful," Kevin said looking at Dee. Kevin slowly moved closer to Dee their hands meeting together as they held. As they looked at each other slowly leaning closer Kevin's heart was racing and Dee's face was feeling hot. Before Kevin could place his lips on Dee's she stopped it with her finger. "Kevin we can't.. what about Nazz," Dee said feeling her heart pounding from this feeling. "What about her Dee.. she has been cheating on me with Tom since last year," Kevin said kissing Dee's finger that was on his lips. "We have been trying to work things out, but I can't get it out of my head," Kevin said placing Dee's hand on his cheek. "That's also one of the reasons why we fought so it really wasn't your fault he deserve his ass whooped," Kevin said smiling. "But I wasn't honest with you Kevin," Dee said looking away from his face. "I've always had feelings for you since freshmen year Kevin, but I wasn't what you wanted," Dee said letting tears flow down as she wiped them still looking away at him. "Nazz was so lucky to be able to hold your hand and dance with you, I was envious I wanted you to look at me the way you looked at her," Dee said holding back more tears. "Dee look at me please," Kevin said as he turned her chin to him. "I knew you had feelings for me Dee, but it was different because you weren't you back then," Kevin said looking into her eyes. "But now look at you Dee your beautiful, soft, and caring," Kevin said slowly reaching closer to Dee's lips. "Your a lot better then Nazz in any way," he said as he slowly kissed a crying Dee. "Your beautiful Dee," he said in between kissing her. Dee slowly smiled and moved away from the kiss. "I'm sorry it's my first time I've ever been kissed," Dee said bashfully. "Well besides when I made Eddy kiss you and Marie Cancker," Kevin said laughing. Dee slowly pushed him playfully "your so mean bringing up old memories," she said laughing. "I hope my kiss was better then theirs," he said still laughing. "Well it being my first it was very nice," Dee said laying her head on his shoulder. "So you still haven't given me an answer," Kevin said holding onto Dee's side. "How does Friday sound ? Movie then dinner," Kevin said looking into Dee's eyes again. "What about Nazz," Dee said slowly burying her face in his shoulder. "Don't worry about her I'll talk to her," Kevin said slowly as he placed a kiss on Dee's forehead. "Pick me up at 6pm," Dee said blushing. "6pm it is," Kevin said placing a small kiss on Dee's lips.
As they slowly got up Kevin gentle giving Dee his hand to lift her. "Such a gentlemen, I need to get use to this Kevin," Dee said playfully pushing him. "I'll have to get use to you too dork," Kevin said slowly wrapping his arm around her as they walked. "Wow check it out," Kevin said as a red rose was there ready to be picked. "It's beautiful Kevin, the bees will enjoy the pollen," Dee said smiling. "True but I'm sure there is a beautiful woman who would enjoy it more," Kevin said as he pulled it and carefully put it in Dee's hair. Dee was speechless, as she turned red as the rose. "Can I give you a ride," Kevin said as he handed Dee a helmet. "Kevin that is a death trap," Dee said shaking with fear. "Don't worry I've been driving this since sophomore year, I'll go slow I promise," Kevin said giving Dee a pleading look. "Please Dee," Kevin said holding her hand. "Promise you won't crash?" Dee said worryingly. "I promise I'll go slow," Kevin said smiling.
Kevin got on, Dee slowly got on holding onto Kevin's shoulder. "Here Dee like this," Kevin said grabbing Dee's arms and wrapping them around his waist. As he started the motorcycle Dee jumped up and wrapped tighter around Kevin, feeling Kevin laugh alittle. As they road Dee could feel the cold air on her hands and she was sure Kevin must feel so cold. Once they got into the cul-de-sac Kevin stopped at Dee's house. He turned off the motorcycle "you know Dee you can let go now," Kevin said laughing as he got up. He slowly lifted Dee off the motorcycle as she gasped. "Kevin unhanded me," She said laughing as he gentle place her down. "Dee your so light, for sure we are getting you a big dinner for Friday," he said laughing. Dee and Kevin walked hand and hand smiling at one another. "So two more days right," Kevin said looking at Dee and the rose in her hair. "Two days," Dee said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She slowly tiptoed and kissed Kevin slowly and smiled. "Kevin your so red," Dee said laughing. "Just caught me off guard is all," Kevin said kissing her hand. "Here give me your phone," Dee said as Kevin quickly handed it to her. "Here is my number," Dee said smiling. "Goodnight," she said slowly opening her door. "Goodnight to you too," Kevin said typing something on his phone. As Dee closed her door she could hear Kevin's motorcycle going and felt her phone go off.
"Goodnight Beautiful," - Kevin
