Legend of the Sword Dancer: Elven Troubles

Karin stumbed as the now awake elf was glaring at them while tied up. Arthur and Emilya stepped between Karin and the elf with their weapons in hand. Emilya found it quite off that the fearless Karin, who would even challenge senior students was afraid of something. Both noticed that the elf was now looking at Emilya when she traced Kanshou and Bakuya.

"Great," the now revealed elven girl said as she noticed Emilya. "Shaja mistook the wrong girl."

The words the elf said worried Arthur and Karin. For Arthur's part, she wondered why the Elves would seek out Emliya and attack her. While Karin was confident of Emilya's strength and magic, stories of how a single elf can match ten human mages made her worry should her sister had been attacked alone. Suddenly, they were surrounded by another group of cloaked elves. Karin and Arthur took their stance, and all four now had their backs together.

"Master," Mashu said. "I can create a small protective field if they all attack at once."

"Just be ready Mashu," Emilya replied.

The group that surrounded them tensed as they also prepared to fight. Until the bound girl called out for them not to. The cloaked Elves prepared their spells while the four humans also prepared for an attack.

"Stop!" the girl shouted. "We didn't come here to fight!"

Arthur looked at the girl before asking. "Then why did you attack us at the town earlier?"

"We weren't sure how to get the girl's attention." the bound elf replied. "And I don't think you Humans would trust us if we approached you."

The cloaked dismissed their spells, and lowered their hands. An elf stepped forward and slowly shows their empty hands.

"Unbind Mija," a cloaked elf, who was assumed to be the leader, stated as he showed his hands. "And we will talk civilly."

"Prove it," Arthur and Karin said. "Elves would not seek out Humans without reason."

"And since Lord Birmir's time," Karin added. "Your kind have never been sighted anywhere near the kingdoms."

"Oh that guy," the lead elf muttered. "Look we will not attack, you have my word, but if your friends arrive soon, we have no choice."

The four looked at each other before getting into a silent conclusion. Karin carefully untied the elf named Mija, and walked back towards Arthur, Emilya and Mashu without taking her eyes off the elf. The elf then inspected herself before walking towards the other elves. She began to whisper something to the leader, then looked at them.

"Let us meet here again in three days," the lead elf said. "For now we must leave."

The group then ran and were away before Severus and a group of Soldiers arrived. Soldiers began to shield the Students and Familiar, while Arthur met with Severus.

"Sir Arthur where are the perpetrators?"

"They managed to get away after injuring Miss Karin's Manticore." Arthur answered.

Karin and Emilya were immediately reminded of the downed familiar and quickly inspected the beast. While they were inspecting the Mantcore, Arthur commanded the soldiers to scour the forest for any leads, hoping that the Elves are far gone, while Severus approached the three girls. Severus asked Karin to calm her familiar as he would conduct a test to see any injuries. He held out his wand and cast a spell that caused a small stream of water to crawl on the Manticore's skin.

"No broken bones," Severus stated. "Strained wings, meaning that your familiar must not fly for a while. It may have been luck that your crash was not bad, or you had a way to stop an impact?"

"I cast a wind spell to slow us down when the net hit us," Karin said.

"I see," Severus stated.

"Lord Montmorency, what does that spell do?" Karin asked. "How did you know the extent of injuries when all the water did was flow at the surface?"

"Your fiance once told me that any living being has water inside their bodies," Severus explained. "That spell causes this "internal water" to flow carefully inside the body to see any injuries, while the "external water" was just an indicator as to where I am currently scanning."

"Like an X-Ray?" Mashu asked.

"X-Ray?" Severus asked, confused as he has never heard of such before. "Is it some sort of spell?"

"A "spell" that uses light to-" Emilya tried to explain what Mashu meant, she had not mentioned to her that most of the Modern Devices does not exist, or has yet to be discovered here.

"Light? Do you mean [Void] Miss Mailliart?" Severus interrupted. "I would advice you not to talk about this in public, otherwise you may be branded as a Heretic."

They were silent as the tone of Severus's voice has changed when Emilya tried to explain about what Mashu said. Was there something about [Void] that makes things complicated?

"The topic of the [Void] is a sensitive one," Severus explained. "Maybe in time, Arthur would tell you two more once you have proven yourselves trustworthy. For now, keep those theories to yourselves."

Emilya noticed that Severus was looking at his gloved left hand. It was brief but for she saw his eyes trail over it.

"I will keep that in mind Sir Montmorency."

Later that day, Emilya and Karin once more set out for the Academy. Karin and the Manticore walked along side the Carriage where Mashu and Emilya sat. When the soldiers returned, all they were able to find was a small abandoned camping area.

"I'm sorry senpai," Mashu said, she was dressed in her old clothes as her armor was de materialized. "My curiosity got the best of me."

"No need to apologize Mashu," Emilya waved. "Though I am surprised that you have adapted quite easily, since you came from the Modern Era."

Mashu shook her head. "My time at Chaldea had me spend time in both Camelot and Uruk, each Singularity was not done in a day, thus Gudako-senpai and I had to adapt to their lifestyle."

"Uruk..." Emilya muttered. "I guess you fought Gilgamesh in that Singularity?"

"No," Mashu answered. "He was quite welcoming, but worked a bit too hard. He also cares about Uruk to the point that he would lend his weapons to other servants to have a good chance to fight back the the Three Goddesses and the Beast Tiamat."

"Are we talking about the same Gilgamesh here!?" Emilya asked.

Mashu smiled and nodded.

"How did that happen?"

Mashu then told her of her of what happened in Bablylon. From the moment they arrived, to meeting the Goddesses and King Gilgamesh, to the final battle against the Beast.

[Insert Babylonia Sigularity]

After her tale, Mashu noticed that Emilya only had a blank stare, the ride to the Academy was silent after that.

Later that evening, Karin knocked on Emilya's room, wanting to talk to her about what the elves wanted. When she didn't receive a response, she tried the door only to notice that it was unlocked.

"Emilya?" Karin asked as she entered.

She saw Emilya and her familiar, Matthew, chatting about a Goddess when the summoned girl found herself in a place called Camelot? She notices that Emilya was silent as the summoned girl finished her story.

Karin let out a laugh. "Miss Familiar, I think that story you told broke her."

"Miss Karin!" Mashu bowed. "I apologize for not noticing your arrival."

"It's fine," Karin waved. "Though I would have preferred someone opening the door for me, but it appears that your story had an effect on my sister."

Karin and Mashu stared at a blank eyed Emilya as it would appear that the girl is currently processing the story.

"What was that story about?" Karin asked curiously.

"It was about my journey prior to my summoning Miss Karin," Mashu answered.

"It must have been quite a tale to make Emilya like that." Karin remarked.

"I suppose it is." Mashu smiled. "What brings you here Miss Karin?"

"I was supposed to ask Emilya about her thoughts regarding those Elves," Karin answered. "But it looks like she is preoccupied."

At the mention of the Elves, Emilya snapped back into reality. She blinked a few times before noticing Karin inside her room.

"Karin?" Emilya asked. "What have you heard?"

"I arrived by the time your familiar finished her tale," Karin answered. "Though I would also want to hear about her story one day, if you do not mind."

Arthur sat behind his desk, wondering why Elves would actively seek out Emilya. The Elven leader said they will meet again in three days, he tried to look into what could be a significant event in three days but there was none. Severus entered the room and told him that all the available Knights are called for.

Arthur and Severus soon entered their meeting room. There were only a few members present, mostly the Nobility were present.

"I would like to apologize for calling a meeting at this hour." Arthur began. "I only took this opportunity since most of us have yet to leave for our respective homes."

"Is this about that recent attack?" Edward asked. "Fallen Nobles?"

"Nay," Piando stated. "Rumors have spread among the wives that this was caused by Elves."

"Preposterous," Sir Laurence said. "These are just wives tale told to children so that they would not stay out at night."

"I would agree with Sir Laurence," Sir Charles added. "Besides, if an Elf were to be spotted here in Tristain, would that not mean Gallia or Romalia would have been passed through? Surely there would be messengers spreading the word by now?"

The gathered Knights looked at Arthur and Severus. Severus in turn sighed, and revealed what Arthur saw.

"There is yet to be any confirmation of who the perpetrators are," Arthur said. "But I would advise everyone to look into rumors and stop them from spreading. Germania's attack on the Holy Land, and Gallia's declaration of that Galleon might have affected some Nobles, and are capitalizing on that fear to spread false information."

"It would make sense," Sir Diluc stated. "I assume that the recent attack was caused by someone who lost a significant amount of wealth during the recent battle, hence I would recommend having an investigation on who were present during that battle."

"That would be us, the Basilisk Knights and Griffin Knights."

"Then we better start investigating soon." Sir Diluc said.

When the meeting was done, and the other members have left, only Severus and Arthur were alone in the barracks. Severus approached Arthur as he prepared his familiar for a journey to the Marcillac Estate.

"Was it wise to divert the origin of the perpetrators from Elves to another Noble?" Severus asked. "Because of that I have a feeling that they will dig up dirt on the Griffin Knights as their Commander was tried in court."

"I weighted the consequences." Arthur replied. "Worst case would be another trial for the Griffin Knights if the investigation would yield a result, the best case is that it would be nothing more than a wild goose chase."

"Then why tell me the truth?" Severus asked. "About these Elves were searching for your fiance, Lady Emilya, and mistook Lady Karin for her hence the reason why they lead her to that forest."

"I would not risk the lives of all my men for this," Arthur said. "This group of Elves had purposely searched for Emilya, and I would want to know why. As my second in command, I told you the truth."

"I see."

"That and should something happen to me, I trust you would take the reigns, [Gandálfr]."

POST CHAPTER NOTES:

To answer/reply to some recent reviews:

1. Alcides's Class aside, or any of the Strange Fake Servants, they are OP as heck. Lionheart's "Everything I Hold is Excalibur", Alcides's 13 Noble Phantasms, The Pale Rider (Death), a Hassan with Presence Concealment (EX), etc..

2. Sorry for any misunderstandings, but this is not a Looney Tunes X Fate/Stay Night/Familiar of Zero, though I wish there was a Looney Tunes X FoZ with Bugs trolling the heck out of Halkegina.

3. Motivated to the point that I played games instead of writing that chapter...

4. There is no Sacred Numbers to access the Sauce because this is not one of those kinds of Doujinshi...
