Hi Claire!

You're probably wondering, "Who is this girl? Why is she sending me her class picture and an invitation to her graduation?" If you are, I understand. It's been a long time since you last saw me. Allow me to refresh your memory:

Ten years ago, you saved a little girl's life. It was right after you met her when you arrived at Harvardville Airport. She was a tiny thing, with short, dark hair and big, bright eyes. She had just lost her parents to a viral outbreak in India. Her aunt, your co-worker, had left her with you while she went to get the car. In the short time the girl's aunt was gone, a plane crashed into the airport, causing the first T-Virus outbreak on American soil since Raccoon City in 1998.

You could have left that girl and gotten out easily. After all, you were in Raccoon City when it succumbed to the virus. You are one of fewer than ten people who survived that outbreak.

But you didn't. You stayed with her, comforted her, and made sure she got out safe and sound.

I am that girl, Claire. I am one of the many, many people whose life you've saved over the years. You may or may not remember me, but I will always remember you and what you risked for me.

Because of you, I'm alive. Because of you, I get to graduate and go to college. Because of you, I know the importance of your and my aunt's work with TerraSave.

For that reason, I'm majoring in Medicine with an emphasis on virology. I'm going to find a cure for the viruses that cause outbreaks like the ones you and I survived – like the ones that killed my parents.

You kept your promise to me, Claire. So, I promise you I won't rest until I find the cure. And like you, I'm going to keep that promise.

Love always,
Rani Chawla
