The Unofficial Avenger's Field Trip Mission
Chapter 5
Once the group comes nearer to them, Brian splits them up by two and directs them to each group. The two remaining with their school group smile at them. Both were female, dressing casually and already having their guest passes around their neck. Peter notices that one pass says "Maria Henderson" while the other says "Fran James." They both introduce themselves to the group and thank them for allowing them to join in.
"Now!" Brian exclaims, "Now that that is settled. I will be directing you all through security first. Once we go through security, each group will be split up to go their separate ways to give each group the same allotted amount of time for each section. Once we pass security, I'll tell you all more details." With that being said, Brian and the other three tour guides start to head towards multiple metal detectors, each telling a security guard their name. Once done, each tour guide passes through one, when Brian passes through his, a voice rang out, "Intern Pass Accepted, Welcome Back Brian Stewart" with the metal detector glowing green around the edge with the others doing the same for their specific tour guide.
All the students huddled up together in their respective groups. The students couldn't help but voice out their amazement and excitement. Even for something simple, it was exciting for them as it made things dawn on them that they were actually in Tony Stark's actual building. It wasn't a dream at all.
Peter caught Ned's eye as he was nearing his turn to enter through the metal detector and gave him a thumbs up. Ned returned the gesture and turned back around and proceeded to tell the security guard his name and walked through. "Guest Pass Accepted, Welcome Ned Leeby," A voice calls out.
Peter turns towards his own group's line and realizes it will soon be his turn to pass through the metal detector. He could see MJ already passed through and was looking around with an air of disinterest.
"Guest Pass Accepted, Welcome Eugene Thompson," Flash couldn't help but look smug when the voice said his name. It seemed as if he was on top of the world, despite others getting the same treatment. Peter laughed to himself.
Peter arrives at the spot in front of the security guard and tells him his name while putting his bag on the roller to also go through the detector. The security guard smiles at him, but eyes his guest pass around his neck. Peter shrugs at him, he knows the security guards know who he is. He hoped it wouldn't be an issue and thought that just maybe Happy had made an exception this one time for his school tour. He doesn't know how else his guest pass would be authorized and approved.
As Peter starts to step through the metal detector, a voice rings out, "Guest Pass Rejected," The edges of the metal detector turned red upon announcing this. "Turn around and try again, Mr. Parker." The security guard tells him, although he has his eyebrow raised at him as if asking him what exactly he was doing.
"Guest Pass Rejected." Peter's classmates start to notice what's going on by now. He could hear some comments being made. Some called him a fake and that the truth will now finally be revealed. Peter internally grimaces. He didn't want all the attention on him and he knew he was about to make his classmates take back their loathsome comments.
"Parker!" Peter looks around and sees Happy coming near them. He heard Happy's tone of voice when he shouted his last name and he definitely did not sound too happy. He witnessed what was occurring and wasn't too thrilled about it.
"Peter, you're going to have to explain to me. Why exactly did you just try to come through here not once but TWICE! With a guest pass?!" Peter looks at him sheepishly.
"I thought it would work," Peter remarks back, feeling like a little kid telling his dad what he thought was the correct answer.
"Kid, so help me, you better have your actual pass on you. You already knew it wouldn't work like that. Why would you even try it?!" Peter laughs awkwardly to himself as Happy starts to lecture him on the importance of only having one pass per person. He can see his classmates and teachers behind Happy wondering what is going on. Some of them were starting to laugh at him getting lectured, making his face start to get red.
He really didn't do well with so much attention on him. He hated it with a passion. He didn't hate it when he was out on the streets as Spider-Man but as Peter Parker? He hated it, completely. He couldn't shelter himself.
"Excuse me, sir," Mr. Harrington steps up to the plate. Despite not being a part of Peter's tour group, Peter was still his student. He still needed to know what was going on.
Happy turns towards his teacher and acknowledges him, "Yes?"
"Do we have a problem, here? Mr. Parker is my student and we're just here for a tour guide. I'm not sure why his pass is being rejected or why you're currently lecturing him on it."
Peter blinks at his teacher as Happy expression turns into amusement.
"Why, yes, yes we do have a problem." Mr. Harrington starts looking at Peter once Happy says this. Peter tries to hide his face by looking down at his shoes. He could already recognize the disappointment on the man's face.
"Mr. Parker here is Tony Stark's personal intern," Happy made sure to emphasize personal. He knew the kid had issues at school with people not believing him. Hey! It wasn't like he didn't listen to Peter vent from time to time while driving him back and forth to the building and also to his apartment complex or his school. He just had issues listening to it every time he picked him up.
Happy wanted to smirk at the fact that Peter's teacher in front of him looked so shell-shocked by his remark. He continues speaking to his teacher, "He has his own pass that he should be using." Mr. Harrington looks a bit queasy and stays quiet. He was one of the ones who didn't believe Peter whenever he mentioned he had an internship with Tony Stark.
Happy turns back to Peter. "Kid, where's your pass?" Peter points towards his book bag that was located on the metal rack. "Get it out and re-enter the metal detector."
Peter sighs loudly. He knew it. He absolutely knew it. This was going to turn into a disaster from the very beginning of the tour.
Peter heads towards where his bag is and unzips the front compartment and reaches in and grabs his pass. Instead of it hanging from a blue lanyard, it hung from a black lanyard. He turns right back, putting his lanyard over his neck, and enters the metal detector once more with his classmates and teachers looking on. In actuality, everyone in the area was being noisy and watching what was unfolding out in front of them.
Happy just stares at him with one eyebrow raised, with an expression on his face that screams "Why are you making me suffer like this so early in the morning?"
As Peter takes a step through the metal detector, absolute silence could be heard. Rarely did the head security have to step in for someone's pass being rejected. Usually, it was a small error that was an easy fix.
As he passes through the detector, a new and different computerized voice rings out.
"Tony Stark's Personal Intern Pass Granted, Welcome back, Peter. Shall I notify Boss you're here?" Peter smiles at hearing Friday's voice instead of the other computerized voice that was calling out names.
Tony always made sure Friday was the one to greet him every time he went through security. At first, Peter hated it because it made him stand out, but over time, he's always overjoyed to hear Friday's voice greeting him. It made him feel special and like he was wanted.
Don't get him wrong, he loves Aunt May to death but sometimes he feels detached from her. She was always busy with her job and had to make sure they could keep afloat. It's just that...on occasion, there were times he needed her, and he'd find that instead of being there for him, she'd rely on Tony to be there in her place instead.
"No thanks, Fri. I'm good. Please don't bother him while he's out."
"As you wish, Peter." Friday's voice echoed around the silent room. Everyone was staring at him, with his classmates and teachers being in complete shock.
Peter Parker wasn't kidding. He wasn't lying this entire time like they all originally thought. Peter Parker was truly the personal intern of the one and only Tony Stark.
