Lake Valor and Lake Verity
The next morning, after Eddy picks up Infernape from the nurse and having breakfast, the Eds exit the Pokemon Center.
"So where's the next gym, Double-D?" asked Eddy. Edd takes the map out of his backpack and looks at it.
"If we go through another path in Mount Coronet, we can get to Snowpoint City where the next gym is." replied Edd.
"Then let's go to Snowpoint City, boys." said Eddy. A man in a lab coat approaches the Eds.
"Excuse me, Ed, Edd, and Eddy?" asked the man.
"Yeah?" said Ed.
"You may not know me, but I'm a colleague of Professor Rowan." said the man. "You probably didn't see me the day you arrived here in Sinnoh."
"Do you need anything?" asked Edd.
"Professor Rowan wants to discuss something with you three." replied the man.
"Oh. Well we'll go down to Sandgem Town as soon as possible." said Edd.
"Actually, he's here in Canalave City at the library." said the man.
"There's a library here?" Edd asked with glee.
"Yes. It's near the other side of the bridge. Follow me." said the man. He walks to the bridge with the Eds following him.
"Library? Couldn't we just meet in a video arcade or something?" asked Eddy. A minute later, they enter the library. Edd looks around at all the ceiling high bookshelves stocked with books in excitement.
"Rapture." said Edd quietly. They follow the man up a couple flights of stairs until they reach the top floor where the man leads them to a table where Professor Rowan is sitting.
"I have brought the boys here like you asked, Professor Rowan." said the man.
"Thank you." said Professor Rowan. The Eds walk over to the table and sits down while Professor Rowan's colleague leaves the room. "Now that you boys are here, listen up. You should know that what I study is the evolution of Pokemon. The more I study, the more mysteries multiply. There are some Pokemon that evolve, and others don't. What makes them different than others? Do immature ones evolve into ones that are more mature? If so, what do we make of the Legendary Pokemon that don't evolve? Are we to assume that the Legendary Pokemon of Sinnoh are complete as creatures?" Professor Rowan turns to the Eds. "There is said to be a mysterious Pokemon in each of the three lakes of Sinnoh. If we can obtain data on them, it may shed some light on how the process of Pokemon Evolution. I need you to help me find these mysterious Pokemon."
"We'll be glad to help, Professor Rowan." said Edd. "What do you need us to do?"
"I've already sent some colleagues of mine to Lake Verity and Lake Aucity, so I'll need you boys to go to Lake Valor." said Professor Rowan.
"And where is Lake Valor?" asked Edd.
"It's somewhere between Veilstone City and Pastoria City." replied Professor Rowan.
"I believe that lake was blocked off for some unknown reason." said Edd. Suddenly, the library begins shaking.
"THE BUILDING'S COLLAPSING! EVERYONE EVACUATE! CHILDREN AND ME FIRST!" yelled Eddy. The shaking suddenly stopped.
"Are you boys unharmed?" asked Professor Rowan.
"I believe I am." said Edd.
"Yep." said Ed.
"Same here." said Eddy.
"Let's go outside, but be careful. I'm concerned about the city." said Professor Rowan. They soon exited the library and looked around the city. "That tremor, it wasn't a natural occurence." A man in a sailor suit approaches them.
"Hey, hey. Old dude and kids. Something big just happened." said the man. "They're saying there's a huge explosion at Lake Valor." Professor Rowan turns to the Eds.
"Boys, I'm worried about Lake Valor. However, I have no idea what's taking place. You must find out." said Professor Rowan.
"We'll be there as quick as we can." said Edd. Professor Rowan turns to Ed.
"Ed, it has come to my understanding that you have a Dusclops." said Professor Rowan.
"Yep. My Duskull evolved." said Ed. Professor Rowan turns to Edd.
"Double-D, you have a Rhyhorn, correct?" asked Professor Rowan.
"That is correct." said Edd. Professor Rowan sets a briefcase he was carrying, opens it up and pulls out what appeared to be a purple cloth and a strange brown object. He gives Ed the cloth and Edd the brown object.
"Ed, that is a Reaper's Cloth. And Edd, that is a Protector." said Professor Rowan. "Once Rhyhorn evolves into Rhydon, give it the Protector and Ed, you give Dusclops the Reaper Cloth, when Dusclops and Rhydon are traded while holding those items, they will evolve."
"Yay." said Ed.
"Marvelous." said Edd.
"And did you boys just each win a Mine Badge?" asked Professor Rowan.
"You bet we did." said Eddy.
"And I see you have a Poketch." said Professor Rowan.
"That is correct." said Edd.
"If you have the HM App on your Poketch, you can use Strength to move heavy boulders that can't be broken with Rock Smash." said Professor Rowan.
"Interesting. Thank you for the information." said Edd.
"You're welcome." replied Professor Rowan. "So, you boys know which gym you're going to challenge next?"
"Yes. We plan on going to Snowpoint City to challenge the gym there." replied Edd.
"If you boys are planning on challenging the Snowpoint City gym, then I suggest you go buy some winter clothing at the department store in Veilstone City. It's very cold in that area." said Professor Rowan.
"Thanks for telling us. It would've been very unpleasant when we got to the area, and we start to freeze." said Edd.
"And whatever you do, and I can't stress this enough, don't get in over your heads." said Professor Rowan.
"We'll try, Professor Rowan, but we always seem to get in some sort of trouble one way or another." said Edd. Professor Rowan nods and leaves for Lake Verity. Just then, a sailor walks over to them.
"If you kids are trainers and you want a great place to train your Pokemon, I can take you to an island off the coast here called Iron Island. Trainers go there to help strengthen their Pokemon." said the sailor.
"We'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the information." said Edd. The sailor then turns and leaves. Edd turns to Ed and Eddy. "Shall we go to Lake Valor then?" he asked.
"Sure." said Eddy.
"Okay." said Ed. Edd brings up the HM App on his Poketch and selects Fly.
"Oh no. Here we go again." said Eddy as three Staraptors come out of nowhere and carry them off to Lake Valor. A minute later, the Eds reach their destination. "I really don't like doing that."
"It was the fastest way to get here." said Edd. They look at the entrance to Lake Valor and see that the scientists from before are gone. "It appears that the lake is open to the public again. Let's investigate it, gentlemen."
"Whatever." said Eddy. They enter the area and to their collective surprise, the lake was completely void of water. "Aren't lakes supposed to have water in them?" They also see a lot of Magikarp flopping around on the ground. Ed was saddened by this.
"Those poor Pokemon." said Ed. They look deeper into where the lake was and see Team Galactic members walking around.
"What are those losers doing here?" asked Eddy.
"I'll wager that they had something to do with the current state of the lake." said Edd. Ed bares his teeth.
"How dare they make these Pokemon suffer!" said Ed. He then charges in with Edd and Eddy following after him. As Edd and Eddy chase after Ed, a couple Team Galactic members come out and block their path.
"Hey. You kids shouldn't be here." said one of the Team Galactic members.
"Look who's talking." said Eddy.
"Are you kids going to leave quietly; or are we going to have to make you leave?" asked a Team Galactic member as he and his associate each pull out a pokeball. Edd and Eddy each pull out a pokeball as well.
"What do you think?" asked Eddy. While Edd and Eddy were dealing with the two Team Galactic members, Ed rushes into a small cave located on a hill in the center of what used to be Lake Valor. Ed enters the cave and immediately sees a man with dark blue hair wearing a Team Galactic uniform standing.
"The plan is proceeding without a hitch. The boss will be pleased." said the man. "Everything is for everyone, and for the good of Team Galactic." The man turns around and sees Ed. "I recognize your face! You're one of the boys who raided the Team Galactic building in Eterna City."
"You bet I am." replied Ed.
"Jupiter should be ashamed of herself, being beaten by a mere child like that." said the man.
"And you will too if you don't leave this lake." replied Ed, angrily.
"Anything or anyone that opposes Team Galactic must be crushed!" exclaimed the man. "Even the very thought of opposition will not be tolerated!" The man pulls out a pokeball. "Come on out, Kadabra." He throws the pokeball and releases a Kadabra. Ed pulls out a pokeball.
"Dusclops, come on out." said Ed, throwing his pokeball and releasing Dusclops. "Use Shadow Punch." Dusclops hand becomes engulfed in a gray aura, and he punches the air and releases a shadowy fist, and it punches Kadabra in the chest, causing super effective damage due to Shadow Punch being a ghost type move which are strong against psychic type Pokemon, and also Spooky Plate powering Shadow Punch up. Kadabra falls to the ground with swirly eyes, shocking the Team Galactic member. "Great work, Dusclops." The man returns Kadabra to its pokeball. He puts it in his pocket and pulls out another pokeball.
"Your Pokemon is strong but let's see if it can handle Bronzor." said the man, throwing the pokeball and releases a Bronzor.
"I'm sure Byron's Bronzor is stronger than yours." said Ed. "Dusclops, Night Shade." Dusclops fires a beam of red and black energy out of his eye and it hits Bronzor, causing super effective damage. Bronzor falls to the ground with swirly eyes. The man growls in frustration and he returns Bronzor to its pokeball. The man puts Bronzor's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Let's see how your Dusclops does against this Pokemon." He throws the pokeball and releases a Pokemon that looks like a bigger, dark blue and teal version of Croagunk with a curling spike on its head and a red claw on the back of each of its hands. Edd and Eddy arrived at the cavern. Edd sees the new Pokemon.
"What is that?" asked Edd. He takes out the pokedex and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Toxicroak, the Toxic Mouth Pokemon and the evolved form of Croagunk. Its knuckle claws secrete a toxin so vile that even a scratch could prove fatal." said the pokedex.
"Toxicroak, Poison Jab." said the man. One of Toxicroak's hand claws glow purple and it leaps at Dusclops and jabs him with it. Dusclops staggers back and it turns purple under his eye.
"Ed. Dusclops is poisoned." said Edd.
"Dusclops, Shadow Punch." said Ed. Dusclops unleashes another Shadow Punch, and it hits Toxicroak in the chest, knocking it back.
"Toxicroak, Venoshock." said the man. Toxicroak opens its mouth and unleashes multiple purple darts and they hit Dusclops, causing a lot of damage due to Venoshock causing more damage to Pokemon that are poisoned. Dusclops loses a little stamina from its poisoning. Not wanting to see more harm done to Dusclops, Ed returns Dusclops to his pokeball.
"You did great, Dusclops. I'll take you to the Pokemon Center real soon." said Ed. He puts Dusclops pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Golduck, come on out." He throws Golduck's pokeball and releases him. "Now Golduck, Zen Headbutt." Golduck's head glows blue and he charges at Toxicroak and rams his head into its chest, causing super effective damage due to both poison and fighting types being weak against psychic type attacks. Toxicroak staggers back and falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"NO!" yelled the man.
"You did it, Golduck!" cheered Ed.
"Golduck!" cheered Golduck. The man returns Toxicroak to its pokeball.
"Even I, Commander Saturn, only managed to buy us time?" said the man, now identified as Commander Saturn. "But that's fine. A child like you will never be able to stop the flow of time. Team Galactic will get the three Legendary Pokemon of the lakes! With their power, we will create an entirely new universe. By now, Mars should have captured the Pokemon of Lake Verity." Commander Saturn throws pokedollars at Ed's feet and runs past the Eds and out the cave. Edd and Eddy runs over to Ed as he is picking up the pokedollars.
"Are you okay, Ed?" asked Edd.
"Yeah." said Ed. The pokedex chimed. Edd takes it out and looks at it.
"It seems your Golduck learned Amnesia, which increases his defense, Ed." said Edd.
"Yay!" cheered Ed. A concerned look appeared on his face. "I want to get Dusclops to the Pokemon Center."
"Maybe we should get to Lake Verity first. I have a feeling they may need our help." said Edd.
"Okay." replied Ed. He returns Golduck to his pokeball and the Eds leave the cave.
"So, what now, guys?" asked Eddy.
"We should check out Lake Verity and see if Professor Rowan needs help." suggested Edd.
"Good idea. Where is Lake Verity?" asked Eddy. Edd pulls out the town map and examines it.
"It seems to be near Sandgem Town." said Edd.
"We haven't been there since we arrived in Sinnoh." said Eddy.
"Yes. But we need to focus on getting to Lake Verity." said Edd as he uses the Fly move on his HM App.
"Not again." said Eddy as three Staraptors carried the Eds off to Sandgem. A minute later, they arrive in Sandgem Town.
"It feels like just yesterday that we were here." said Edd.
"Yeah. So where's Lake Verity from here?" asked Eddy.
"It's just west of here. Let's hurry." said Edd as they bring out their bikes and rode off towards Lake Verity. They soon arrive to see Professor Rowan and Team Galactic Members already there. Professor Rowan sees the Eds and runs over to them.
"Boys! What perfect timing that you showed up here." said Professor Rowan. "Team Galactic is after the legendary Pokemon!"
"Not if we can help it!" said Ed. They rush forward and some Team Galactic members get in their way.
"You will not interfere with our plans! We will slow you down so Commander Mars can accomplish her goal." said one of the Team Galactic members.
"Commander Mars? Wasn't she that lady we met at that Valley Windworks place?" asked Eddy.
"Eddy. Ed and I will take care of these Team Galactic members. You go and stop Commander Mars." said Edd as he and Ed each pull out a pokeball. Eddy rushes past them while Ed and Edd battle the other Team Galactic members. Eddy soon sees Commander Mars standing near the lake. Commander Mars turns at the sound of Eddy's approaching footsteps. When she sees him, she gasps in shock.
"You again? You're face brings back bad memories. I will never forget how you humiliated me back at the Valley Windworks! I got into a lot of trouble because of you." said Commander Mars.
"Whatever. Looks like I'm gonna have to beat you again, lady." said Eddy.
"You're welcome to try! But my Pokemon are stronger than before." said Commander Mars as she pulls out a pokeball.
"So are mine!" said Eddy as he pulls out one. Commander Mars throws her pokeball and releases a Golbat. Eddy throws his and releases Snorunt. "I know this is your first battle, Snorunt; but I need you right now. Are you ready?" Snorunt turns to Eddy and nods. "Okay, then. Snorunt, use Frost Breath!" Snorunt releases a large blast of icy wind out of her mouth which hits Golbat, doing critical damage. Golbat immediately passes out, much to Commander Mars' surprise.
"Impossible! How can my Golbat lose so quickly?" asked Commander Mars.
"That's because Frost Breath will always do critical damage to its target, plus Snorunt has an Icicle Plate so it strengthened Frost Breath more." said Edd as he was battling a Team Galactic member.
"Sweet! Sounds like Frost Breath is a powerful move." said Eddy. Commander Mars returns Golbat to its pokeball and pulls out another pokeball. She throws it, releasing a Bronzor. Eddy thinks for a second, then returns Snorunt. He pulls out another pokeball and throws it, releasing Absol.
"Okay, Absol. use Night Slash." said Eddy. Absol moves at Bronzor and slashes at it with black energy-coated claws. Bronzor is sent flying and falls to the ground, unconscious. Commnader Mars is stunned by this.
"How are you so much stronger than before?" asked Commander Mars.
"Lots of training, duh." replied Eddy. Commander Mars growls at Eddy's disrespect towards her. She returns Bronzor to its pokeball and pulls out her last Pokemon.
"Purugly! Teach this brat some respect!" said Commander Mars as she releases her Purguly from its pokeball. Eddy decides to return Absol and pulls out another pokeball.
"You're using your ace; I'll use mine. Come out, Infernape!" said Eddy as he releases Infernape. "Okay, pal. Use Close Combat." Infernape moves towards Purugly and lands a series of hard punches and kicks. It was too much for Purugly to handle and it passes out, leaving Commander Mars in stunned shock.
"How can this be?" asked Commander Mars as she returns Purugly to its pokeball. "That's twice you've beaten me, you little punk! That shouldn't be possible."
"Oh, but it is. Otherwise, it wouldn't have happened." said Eddy with a smirk.
"It doesn't matter. We got the legendary Pokemon that resided in this lake and transported to our headquarters, so my mission was still a success. Okay, everyone. We're leaving. We got what we came for. We also got the other two legendary Pokemon as well, so we're close to our leader's goal." said Commander Mars. She throws pokedollars at Eddy and all the Team Galactic members leave. Ed and Edd walk over to Eddy.
"Good work, Eddy." said Edd. He looks at his pokedex. "Oh, it appears that your Snorunt has learned Ice Fang."
"Sweet." said Eddy. The Eds look at Professor Rowan and saw he looked troubled.
"Are you okay, Professor?" asked Ed.
"Not really, boys. Team Galactic have all three legendary Pokemon. Mespirit, the being of Emotion; Azelf, the being of Willpower; and Uxie, the being of Intelligence. The fact that you three faced full-fledged criminals and emerged unharmed is reason enough to celebrate. But what happened at Lake Acuity?" asked Professor Rowan.
"I believe Lake Acuity is near Snowpoint City. When we go there to challenge the gym, we can check out the lake while we're there." said Edd.
"I would greatly appreciate that." said Professor Rowan. They all soon leave the lake area. Professor Rowan heads off towards Sandgem Town, leaving the Eds with their thoughts.
"So what now?" asked Ed.
"We should stop by the Pokemon Center in Sandgem Town and get our Pokemon healed." said Edd.
"Good idea. Let's go." said Eddy. They got on their bikes and rode to Sandgem Town. They enter the Pokemon Center and give the nurse their Pokemon. The Eds grabbed some lunch in the cafeteria and talked about recent events.
"I'm troubled by Team Galactic, gentlemen." said Edd.
"They can't be up to any good." said Eddy.
"Anyway, we'll keep our eyes open for them and find out more about what their plans are. But until we know more about them, we should just focus on the Sinnoh League." said Edd.
"How about we check out that Iron Island place that sailor back in Canalave City told us about. We can train our Pokemon there." said Eddy.
"Very well. When we get our Pokemon back, we'll go straight there." said Edd as he and the others continued to eat.
