"Again." Annabeth said.
Percy launched his beyblade again. Sweat dripped from his head, and his breathing was heavy. He had been doing this for hours, without stopping. No matter how good his launch was, Annabeth wasn't satisfied.
Pontus aimed straight for the center and passed through it, before moving back through it, going back and forth like a pendulum. It kept doing this until it ran out of stamina.
"Can I take a break?" Percy asked, turning to Annabeth.
She looked from him to his beyblade, weighing the options. Eventually, she nodded, allowing it. Percy breathed out, thankful for the pause in practicing. He picked up Pontus and sat on the couch.
Why Annabeth had a couch in her basement, along with a stadium and workout equipment, he had no idea. She sat down on the other end of the couch, before swinging her legs up on it, resting them on his lap.
"Why are we doing this anyway?" Percy asked.
"You wanted this." Annabeth said.
"I asked if you wanted a battle."
"Because you wanted to be ready to fight Silena."
Percy pursed his lips. She had a point. That was the excuse he used when he asked her. Really he just wanted to spend some time with her, and that was the best he could do.
"But what's the point of me just launching over and over again?"
Annabeth sighed. "Do you believe in the spirits of beyblades?"
"I mean, not really."
"Well, they're real."
"Really?"
"Yeah. And they are vicious."
"What do you mean?"
"They are made to fight. They crave violence, to fight. It gives them purpose. If they can satisfy their... Well, I wouldn't call it bloodlust, but it's basically what it is. If they can get it, they don't care what they have to do to get it. But you have to keep them in line. If you can make them submit to your will, it will make you a better blader."
"What if you don't?"
Annabeth took in a deep breath. "I knew a guy once. He was my- friend. His name was Luke Castellan. He couldn't control his spirit. It started to control him. It possessed him."
"What happened to him?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. One day, he just left."
"Were you two close?" Try as Percy might, he couldn't help the jealousy in his tone.
Annabeth sat up and smiled. "Are you jealous?"
"Why would I-"
"You are!" Annabeth smirked. She crawled forward, mimicking a predator hunting its prey. She straddled Percy and wrapped her arms around his neck.
She was so close that he could smell something coming from her. It was kind of citrus-y, like lemons, or limes. He could hear her breathing. Everytime her chest rose, it pushed her breasts into his chest. Her eyes shone with amusement. Her hair fell in front of her face, only for her to throw her head back, moving the hair. God, she was beautiful.
"Cat got your tongue?" Annabeth asked.
"You're not making this easy for me."
"Better get used to it. I'm not going to make anything easy for you." She said, before kissing him.
LINE BREAK
"ALRIGHT BEYBLADE FANS! OUR NEXT BATTLE SHOULD BE A GOOD ONE! IN THE BLUE CORNER, WE HAVE ETHAN NAKAMURA! AND IN THE RED CORNER, ANNABETH CHASE!"
Annabeth walked up to the stadium and waited. She examined her opponent. He looked to be about a year younger than her. He was thin, and kinda tall. He had thin black hair, and a black eye patch covering his left eye.
Annabeth grabbed her launcher from her waist. It was clipped to the belt loop of her jeans. She unclipped it and spun it in her hand, making sure she was holding it properly. She reached her hand into her hoodie pocket and pulled out her beyblade. Admirable Athena.
The goddess of wisdom stared back at Annabeth. A flash of light shone in its eye. Annabeth smiled, and hooked the beyblade onto her launcher. She moved her left leg out really far, leaning on her right. She also learned a little forward.
Ethan's beyblade was Envious Executioner. A defense type. It had a picture of a judge on it. It was probably a reference to the phrase, Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Ironic, because Ethan was about to meet his.
The ref recited the rules before letting the battle commence.

"Let it rip!"
Both beys went towards the middle. Executioner got there first, but that wasn't a problem for Athena. Athena's tip was very special. Hell, the whole beyblade was. It was designed in such a way that made it the perfect balance type. The top was perfectly round, providing good defense. It had eight outward points, evenly spaced out. These were great attack points, but they were also heavier, making it a good top for stamina. The fusion disc was one of the heaviest in the game. This allowed for great defense, and heavy, powerful attacks. But the tip. The tip decided what the beyblade would be going for. See, it was rubber, with one plastic point in the middle. So, it would usually default to stamina, if it was knocked off balance, the rubber would take control, turning it into a fast attack type.
So when Executioner took the middle, it knocked Athena off balance. The rubber took over, causing Athena to start to circle the center, getting farther from it and closer to the edge. It circled around, gaining speed.
Suddenly, Annabeth tilted her head quickly. It was a fast movement, but Percy noticed it. And that was when he realized what Annabeth had been talking about earlier. She had almost absolute control over Athena. Not only that, but he could see, very faintly, red energy surrounding her.
Athena stopped her run around the stadium and changed course, barreling straight towards the middle. Of course, that's what everyone else saw. But Annabeth, she saw something else. Besides her imminent victory, she saw the spirits.
Executioner was in the middle, it's spirit hovering above it. It wielded a giant gavel, swinging it like a mallet. The spirit made a gesture like it was saying, 'Come at me.'
Athena was hovering above her beyblade, and wielded a spear. She grinned at the challenge, rushing at Executioner.
It was no contest. Athena's spirit clashed with the judge, and impaled it straight through the chest.
"Burst finish! Two points to Annabeth Chase!"
Annabeth collected her still spinning beyblade, and put it back on the launcher. She got back into her launching position. Ethan put his beyblade back together, and put it on his launcher.

"LET IT RIP!"
Executioner took the middle again. Athena, on the other hand, started to circle the edge of the stadium. Occasionally, it would dip towards the middle, and lightly hit the defense bey. It looked like Athena was teasing Executioner.
It kept doing this, taking potshots at the maroon beyblade.
Annabeth waited, before deciding that it was time.
"End it." She said.
Athena halted her trip round the stadium and aimed straight for the center. It went straight through Executioner, bursting it.
"Burst finish! Two points to Annabeth Chase. She wins the round, four to zero."
In the stands, Percy stood up. "WHOOOO! ANNABETH!"
Grover stared at Percy. "You're never like this. What's up with you?"
"Nothing."
"Mmm-hmm. Sure." Grover said.
"OHH MAN! WHAT A BATTLE! ANNABETH ONCE AGAIN PROVING WHY SHE IS THE THREE TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT ELSE IS IN STORE FOR US!"
Percy clapped at his girlfriend's victory. He idly wondered if he could get far enough to face her in the tournament.
But to do that, he'll have to beat Silena.
A/N. Alright, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. This one was making Percy and Annbeth's relationship official. It was also here to show off why Annabeth was top dog. She literally teased her opponent, then swiftly ended it when she was bored of it.
Also, started to set up future plot points, and things for the 2nd arc. Also a bit of foreshadowing, so, see if you can spot it.
I tried to make it easier to envision the battle, but I have no idea if it worked or not.
Thoughts?
