I am just...Bombarding you guys with new stories this week.

Actually, this story isn't new...I wrote this fanfic for Lukanette June 2021 and I posted it on my tumblr...But tumblr removed it due to mature content.

And, I noticed you guys liked that much more sadder Lukanette fanfic I wrote...I do want to write more darker and sadder Lukanette where Lukanette is still endgame. So I decided to edit and fix up this fanfic and post it on my fanfiction accounts.

But please please please! This is a mature fanfic! This fanfic will contain disturbing content like graphic descriptions of violence, and mentions of sexual abuse. This fanfic isn't meant to romanticize and/or promote such behavior.

And I will say that I know this isn't my best work. I know this fanfic could benefit from being multichaptered but I wrote this on a whim because I wanted to vent some feelings. I have been abused by a previous partner as well and I didn't want to purposely set off my PTSD. So this fanfic will stay just a oneshot.

So I won't make this author's note any longer. But I do feel the need to say one important message before the story starts as a person who has been through an abusive relationship. For anyone who needs it I am here to say, abuse is never your fault.

Disclaimer: Miraculous Ladybug belongs to Thomas Astruc and ZAGToon. This is just a fanfic written by a fan.

Marinette and Luka ran to each other. They ran far and wide even if they were scared out of their minds because they were finally willing to break free from their abusive relationships.

But both Felix and Lila were on the hunt. Marinette panted because her wounds ached so much as she ran. Luka didn't stop even though he covered some heavy wounds under bandages.

Their abusive relationships were long-term. Lila was a liar who slapped Luka before pressing her lips on his. Sometimes Lila forced Luka to stay with her the night and sleep with her. Juleka and Anarka worried so much, but Luka wouldn't dare say he was being abused, just staying overnight at his girlfriend's place for studying. And he covered all the bruises he had with his clothes.

Marinette was the "lucky" girlfriend of rich boy Felix Graham de Vanily, but Felix had a dark side. His smile was a mask he wore for the public to see. Behind doors, Felix would hit Marinette and choke her sometimes. Sometimes, he would convince her to participate in his hate sex, which made him feel powerful.

Not to mention the humiliation. Sometimes Marinette had expensive food splattered on her, and Felix left Marinette to cry as the rich boy just laughed.

But Luka never took joy from her crying.

Marinette and Luka met in a quiet little music club when they made excuses not to see their partners.

It was like two broken souls were fated to meet.

Luka noticed Marinette crying softly alone at a table, and while he had his own wounds to lick, he couldn't help but ask her if she was alright.

Marinette was initially startled, but Luka knew how to be gentle. He knew to respect her boundaries since Lila would touch him without permission. Lila would excuse her behavior by saying she was his girlfriend and could touch him whenever.

Luka and Marinette started talking about mundane things that made each other smile and had the most wonderful night they had in a while. Then they found more ways to meet each other since their friendship gave them more joy than they felt from being with their partners.

But eventually, the truth came out when Marinette said they probably shouldn't see each other as much. Luka was confused and insisted he didn't want to lose her as a friend.

Eventually, Marinette broke down in front of Luka and admitted that her boyfriend Felix abused her in many ways that she was afraid to admit. She was ashamed of herself, thinking she was weak for staying with her boyfriend.

But Luka didn't think she was weak as he confessed his girlfriend Lila abused him too.

It was amazing that they were going through the same thing, and against all logic, Marinette couldn't help but throw her arms around Luka and cry. Luka didn't mind though, he let her cry as long as needed. And honestly, holding someone as gentle as Marinette made him feel something in his heart that he didn't feel when he held Lila in his arms.

But after crying for so long, Marinette shamefully pulled away, and the both of them agreed that even if their partners were terrible, they could never cheat.

But because they felt so much for each other, they knew they had to finally end their relationships. Luka and Marinette may have been incredibly vulnerable. Still, the new feelings for each other made them realize that they should get out of their abusive relationships. Their new feelings meant something, whether or not their feelings were spontaneous.

Marinette ran to the dock where she would meet Luka. The grey clouds were rolling in, and the dark ocean's waves were a bit rough. She waited, scared for what was to come.

Eventually, she saw Luka running to her at a distance, and she felt so secure to see him running to her to be by her side. Unlike when she saw Felix and felt such anxiety in her stomach, she initially didn't realize it was a red flag.

The two of them stayed close to each other and felt comforted by each other's presence. But Marinette and Luka didn't embrace since they still wanted to have the moral high ground and not cheat.

Marinette and Luka asked each other if they were alright. Both of them said they were fine as genuinely as they could. Still, Luka couldn't help but notice that Marinette was holding herself in pain, and Marinette couldn't help but notice Luka's breath was labored.

Oh, how Luka wanted to wrap his arms around her and protect her. And how Marinette wished to take away all his pain as he did for her.

But all their suffering was going to end today, no matter what.

"We'll go to Felix first. You can formally break up with him, and I'll protect you," Luka said.

"Ok!" Marinette said. She trembled a little. As much as she wanted to be free of Felix's clutches, the breakup still sounded frightening.

The two of them were going to walk to the subway to head to Felix's mansion, but as they turned around, Felix rode in on his scooter, causing Marinette to gasp. Not only that, but Luka gasped as well because there was also a girl on a scooter riding toward them. Marinette guessed that she was Lila.

Felix stopped the scooter and took off his helmet, smiling at Marinette without remorse.

"My my, you are easy to find, Mari," Felix said.

Marinette started to feel sick inside.

Lila took off her helmet and flipped her long brown hair, smiling at Luka like a predator finding its prey.

"Luka, you ran from me again. How can you be so neglectful?" Lila said.

Luka was starting to get angry now as he stayed by Marinette's side. It looks like they wouldn't be ending their relationships peacefully. However, he still vowed that he and Marinette would be free, no matter what.

"No, Lila!" Luka cried. "I want to end this!"

Marinette turned to Felix and looked him in the eye. She clenched her fists, trying to keep herself from trembling.

"Yes, I don't want to do this anymore. Please let me leave. Love isn't about possession!" Marinette cried. She cried her heart out, finally trying to stand up for herself.

Felix and Lila both walked forward, ignoring Luka and Marinette's pleads.

"Oh? But aren't you the little Ladybug girl I wanted so much, Mari?" Felix was about to reach for Marinette's chin, but she pulled away. Luka's reflexes nearly caused him to attack Felix. His blue eyes glowed with anger.

"And you wanted me as well!" Felix mocked her with a smile on his face. "Don't forget you begged me to date you."

Shame and regret filled Marinette. Marinette wrapped her arms around herself and looked down. "I was wrong. I'm sorry."

Lila smiled at Luka. "And Luka darling, I said I would make you feel loved after you learned about your real father." Lila moved closer to Luka and placed her hands on his chest, giving him puppy dog eyes. "I meant what I said."

Luka pulled away, and anger filled Marinette's heart as she saw Lila touching Luka like that.

"You lied, Lila!" Luka cried. "You always do!"

Felix and Lila smiled at each other as if they found their own twisted kindred spirit and then turned back to Marinette and Luka.

"Well, I am not planning on letting go of my prize," Felix said.

"Me neither," Lila said.

"And I will get you back by any means necessary, Marinette," Felix said.

Luka was ready to break all rules and wrapped his arms around Marinette to keep her safe. Felix looked at them unamused.

"Maybe I can take a break from playing with you and beat around this loser boy you cheated on me with," Felix said.

Luka quickly released Marinette and got in front of her, guarding her. Felix still had that evil grin as he went in to punch Luka in the jaw,

They moved so fast that Marinette didn't have time to warn Luka that Felix could and would hurt him.

"Don't hurt him!" Marinette pleaded.

Marinette wasn't afraid anymore. She couldn't stand her evil boyfriend hurting the boy she fell in love with. Marinette moved in to slap Felix in the face, shocking Luka.

Felix recoiled slightly, but his smile returned.

"You can slap me all you want, Ladybug, but I will always break you," Felix said.

Felix was about to punch Marinette in the face until Luka grabbed his arm and tried to twist it behind his back. Marinette stood speechless until Lila crept behind her with a threatening look.

Marinette nearly lost her breath as Lila gave Marinette an icy cold stare.

"He belongs to me!" Lila cried as she gave Marinette's hair a good tug.

"Marinette!" Luka cried as he pushed Felix and ran to her. But Felix recovered quickly and gave Luka a good shove as well.

Marinette tried to break free, but Lila used her other hand to grab her neck. Marinette watched helplessly as Felix and Luka fought each other.

But just when all felt hopeless, two familiar people rode in on a scooter to the pier. When the scooter stopped, the person sitting in front raised their hand.

"Stop!"

Surprisingly Felix did stop but only because he knew who it was.

Adrien and Kagami removed their helmets and ran to the scene. Kagami had her kendo sword and pointed it at Lila, which caused Lila to release her hold on Marinette.

Adrien met up with Felix, and he gave Felix a look full of vengeance.

"It's over, Felix! The police have been called!" Adrien cried. He stood his ground, and his peridot eyes glowed, showing his dominance.

Felix gave Adrien a glare.

"Adrien, you were like my brother, and yet you betray me," Felix spat.

Adrien gritted his teeth. "You're not my brother! Luka is!"

Felix simply shoved Adrien to the ground causing Kagami to run to his side and make sure Adrien wasn't injured.

Felix took a moment to look back at Adrien and Kagami, who were still on the ground. "Well, if I am going to prison, then I guess I have nothing else to lose."

Felix took a few steps forward and stared directly at Marinette, who felt a chill go down her spine.

"And therefore…"

Felix ran to Marinette. Luka knew what would happen and tried to shield Marinette. But Felix punched Luka in the chest and then harshly grabbed Marinette's wrist.

Marinette couldn't bring herself to break free, her body ached too much, and her feet dragged uncomfortably as Felix dragged her.

She screamed as Felix threw her into the water.

"Marinette!" Luka cried.

Adrien and Kagami cried out for her as well.

Even if Luka felt so much physical pain, he picked himself up and ran for the pier. He quickly jumped into the water to save her.

Felix merely laughed, but Adrien and Kagami quickly got up, and Adrien didn't hesitate to punch his cousin from behind.

Kagami stood by the edge for any sign of Luka and Marinette.

Luka was barely hanging on as he was dropping underwater. His sight was blurred, and his body felt numb. He wasn't sure where Marinette was, and he felt himself slipping.

But he couldn't let her die, not like this, not at the hands of Felix.

Although Luka felt himself slipping. He wondered if Marinette really was gone, and if she was, at least he could be with her, and they both could be free of all the pain.

Then suddenly, he saw Marinette flailing as she floated toward him, still holding on. Luka wrapped his arm around her, and with the last of his strength, he swam up as quickly as he could. Luka and Marinette surfaced, and Luka gasped for air, but he also heard Marinette gasp for air as well.

"Luka!"

Kagami was on the pier holding her kendo sword down so Luka could grab hold.

Luka made sure Marinette kept her head up as he swam to the pier and grabbed hold of Kagami's sword.

Thankfully Kagami was strong enough to pull them both up. Still, Luka made sure Kagami pulled Marinette up first as Luka took hold of the pier and climbed the rest of the way up.

Kagami took a moment to cradle Marinette as she didn't stir much. Luka knelt beside her and placed his hand on her cheek. He noticed she was only breathing softly.

Luka started to tear up as he took Marinette in his arms and stood up, cradling her bridle style. He placed his forehead on hers and let his tears fall.

"Marinette, please don't do this to me!" Luka cried. "I love you!"

After a moment of crying, Luka heard Marinette moan. Luka tried to soften her cries as he held her gently.

"I…" Marinette gasped for breath. "...You…."

More tears fell down Luka's face but from relief. "Oh…Marinette!" He cried.

"Luka!"

Luka heard the voice of the girl he hated more than anyone. Lila was right behind him, and yet he didn't give a damn. He didn't look at the spiteful girl. His one focus was on Marinette.

"You're cheating on me!" Lila spat.

Luka was overwhelmed with feelings. On the one hand, he wanted to yell at her, and on the other, that wasn't important right now.

"We're over, Lila!" Luka said coldly.

But Lila didn't give up as she wrapped her hands around Luka's neck like she did many times before. Luka tried to pull free, but Kagami grabbed Lila from behind and pulled Lila away.

Kagami didn't feel like playing calmly anymore; she ended up slapping Lila a few times and then knocking her on the ground. She then grabbed her kendo sword to push over Lila's neck.

Lila was gasping for air, but Adrien stood up after holding Felix down.

"Kagami!" Adrien cried. "She isn't worth it!"

Kagami released her grip and instead flipped Lila around to hold her down.

And soon, the police cars and the ambulance showed up at the pier.

The police officers quickly handcuffed Felix and Lila and dragged them away. Now they couldn't hurt anyone.

And Luka set down the unconscious Marinette on the hospital stretcher and stroked the hair on her face before she got taken away.

Luka watched as she was put into the ambulance.

"Marinette! Hang in there!" Luka cried.

But suddenly, Luka started losing feeling in his legs, the wounds all over him ached, he was gasping for air. Then his vision became blurry and dark as he fell forward on the concrete, causing Adrien and Kagami to scream in terror.

"Luka!" Adrien cried as he knelt down to his best friend and cradled him in his arms.

"Luka! Don't do this!" Tears started to flow down Adrien's eyes. "Please hang on, brother!"

Adrien and Kagami watched as the unconscious Luka was placed on a hospital stretcher. But they ended up riding in the ambulance because the doctors told them they needed to be treated for minor injuries.

But Adrien and Kagami were only worried about Luka and Marinette as they rode in the ambulance.

After Adrien was given a few bandages, he sat in the hallway and hung his head while clutching his blonde hair.

When Kagami came out of the hospital room with a few bandages of her own, she sat beside her boyfriend, and Adrien quickly raised his head and took her hands in his.

"Are you alright, Kagami?" Adrien cried.

There was so much sadness in Kagami's eyes, and she blinked her first tears out.

"I am not concerned about myself. I am concerned about…."

A few more doctors ran through the hallway frantically talking about critically injured patients, and Kagami felt her heart drop.

She started crying really hard, and she threw her arms around Adrien. Adrien rubbed her back and allowed her to let it all out.

Luka didn't know what was going on. Last he remembered, he saw Marinette get taken away on a stretcher, and then everything went black. He thought he heard Adrien crying at him, telling him to hold on.

He felt himself trying to regain consciousness, needing answers. But what if he was dead? What if Marinette was killed?

Oh, Marinette.

Luka felt himself give in to the darkness because at least it was quiet, and there was no violence, no pain.

Then soon, his eyes opened slowly. He struggled to focus his vision.

Luka saw himself lying in a hospital bed with a blood transfusion tube in his arm.

He breathed in the intense sanitation smell, but he at least felt relieved that he was living. Luka tried to sit up, but he felt his body was still recovering from everything that had happened.

He heard some talking outside the door, and then the door opened with a nurse coming in. Adrien and Kagami followed from behind.

"Are you doing well, Mr. Couffaine?" The nurse asked gently.

Luka looked at the nurse and his two friends with a blank expression on his face and then down to the blood transfusion tube attached to his arm.

"Luka, thank god you are awake!" Adrien cried.

"What about Marinette?" Luka cried.

Kagami looked like she was about to cry again, so she looked away. Adrien wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng is still unconscious, but she is in stable condition," the nurse said.

Luka tried to get out of the bed as reckless as it was, but Adrien and Kagami quickly ran to him and held his arms down.

"Mr. Couffaine!" The nurse cried. "Please don't be reckless!"

Adrien gave Luka a serious look as he held down Luka's arm.

"Luka, I know you want to see Marinette right now, but you need to stay in bed!" Adrien cried.

"Listen to Mr. Agreste!" The nurse cried sternly. "If anything, Miss Dupain-Cheng is a fighter. We just have to wait."

Luka froze and then hung his head. Adrien and Kagami felt they could now let go of his arms.

He cried softly, worried for his beloved.

The days went on, and Luka was healing. The blood transfusion tube got removed, which made him even more restless as Marinette was still unconscious. Adrien and Kagami made sure Luka was stable.

Little did he know that the doctors and nurses in Marinette's room noticed she was finally stirring in her sleep.

The darkness Marinette was in felt like an eternity, and she couldn't find it in herself to break free. Her first memories were of Felix abusing her and just feeling terrible every day because of it.

She was about to sleep forever, thinking about those memories that hurt her.

But then she remembered a gentle boy with blue hair.

The boy who held her in his arms when she needed to cry. The boy was also in an abusive relationship, and she could connect to him.

Luka. Luka Couffaine.

Marinette remembered now. She was drowning, and Luka jumped in to save her.

He didn't have to! But he did!

Luka saved her, and he held her in his arms.

She heard him say that he loved her. Marinette remembered that, and she used her last strength to tell him she loved him back.

Marinette knew she had to wake now. No matter what!

And in the darkness, Marinette could see a small light.

"Mr. Couffaine!" A nurse cried as she opened the door.

Luka nearly jumped out of his seat, which caused Adrien and Kagami to become concerned again.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng looks like she is waking. I think you could help her-"

That was all Luka needed to hear as he got out of his seat and charged for the door. The nurse had to dodge him, but she didn't argue against him.

Adrien walked up to the nurse with a speechless expression on his face.

Adrien placed his hand behind his neck. "Sorry, he's hopeless."

The nurse shook her head and held her hands up. "She has been murmuring his name in her sleep. I think she was asking for her prince."

The doctors were expecting Luka and allowed him to open the door.

Luka made sure to be quiet, but at the same time, he was speechless at the sight of her. Even in her broken hospital bedridden state, she was so beautiful. He didn't want to disrespect her and just let her rest as long as she needed…

So she could feel better and smile and laugh again.

But Marinette stirred and lifted her hand.

"Lu-Luka!" She cried.

Luka then quickly but gently knelt by her side. He reached his hand out for hers, and surprisingly, she took his hand in her sleep, causing Luka to blush a bit. He gently laced her hand in hers.

Marinette breathed, and Luka was ready to hold her hand as long as she needed. But suddenly, Marinette slowly opened her eyes, and Luka lit up, knowing she would be ok.

Luka gently squeezed her hand as Marinette got used to the new surroundings. Then Marinette looked down to the hand holding her hand, and her bluebell eyes sparkled as she saw her prince before her.

"Luka!" Marinette cried.

Luka smiled at her. "I'm here!"

Marinette took a moment to breathe and sniff as a tear streamed down her eye. "Oh, God! You're alright!"

Luka wanted to throw her hands around her, but she was still bedridden. Instead, he let out a few tears of his own and laughed.

"We were worried about you! We were worried you weren't going to make it!" Luka cried.

Marinette sniffed again as the happy tears continued down her face.

"I had to wake up!" Marinette cried.

Luka was stunned by how much of a fighter this gentle girl was.

"I had to wake up because you risked your life for me, Luka!" Marinette said.

That wasn't a problem at all for Luka. He would give his very life to let Marinette live and be happy.

"And I had to wake up because I needed to tell you that I love you too!" Marinette said.

Luka was speechless at first. He was so happy that he wasn't sure what to say. She loved him. It was pure love, unlike anything Lila ever gave him.

Before he could thank her, Marinette placed her hand on his cheek, a gentle touch he enjoyed so much. Her bluebell eyes showed her desire, and he was about to say he shouldn't kiss her in a hospital bed.

But the look in her eyes was so hypnotic that his own ocean blue eyes melted. He decided to be gentle.

Luka wrapped his arm behind her back which made Marinette shiver in a good way. He moved in closer, and Marinette wrapped her arms around his neck as their lips finally met.

It was meant to be a short kiss, but their faces moved as they enjoyed each other's taste.

While kissing, Adrien and Kagami walked in, and both of them smiled as their two friends found happiness. Granted, Adrien also realized this was a bit inappropriate.

"You guys! This is a hospital room, and Marinette just woke up. You just had to do it now!" Adrien cried.

Marinette and Luka still held that kiss as if they were sharing oxygen at this point.

Kagami smiled at her boyfriend and placed her hand on his shoulder as she kissed him on the cheek. Adrien gave a goofy lovestruck grin and ended up shrugging.

He guessed the right kind of love makes you push boundaries.

A year later, Luka and Marinette couldn't be happier.

Their relationship may have been spontaneous, but it was the best relationship they had ever had. Together Marinette and Luka were able to slowly heal their wounds and trauma. Even if the physical scars from abuse still showed. But Marinette and Luka were turning 18 soon, and they talked about covering some of their scars with tattoos.

Not to mention they were going to college soon and were considering getting their own apartment. Luka and Marinette were super excited about the idea of living together because they always felt stronger and stable together.

But first, they would go on a summer road trip with Adrien and Kagami.

Adrien and Kagami waited by the car and gestured to them to get a move on.

Luka and Marinette were rolling their luggage, but Marinette took a moment to take her boyfriend's hand.

Luka wondered what she was up to, but he wasn't upset. He knew Adrien and Kagami could wait another moment.

"I love you so much, Luka," Marinette said, her bluebell eyes sparkling up at him as he smiled down on her. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. You changed my life in the best way ever."

Marinette started to cry happy tears. "Without you, I would have never experienced true love."

Luka let go of his rolling luggage and wrapped his arms around her tiny body as he moved his lips close to her.

"I love you too," he said softly as his lips met hers.

They kissed for a few minutes as they enjoyed the softness of each other's lips, as soft as flower petals. Marinette popped her leg up, and they broke the kiss. Marinette nearly melted as Luka's ocean blue eyes gleamed at her with his love for her.

They turned back at Adrien and Kagami and waved their hands, showing that they were finally ready.

They laced their hands together and were eager to go on that road trip with their best friends.

They would be forever grateful for all the big changes that happened in a year.

Even if those memories would always be painful, they can face them, walk forward, and say they survived.
