CHAPTER#2: GOOMBA'S FUNERAL
Everyone was crying, especially Larry Koopa. He and Gary the Goomba were such good amigos. Now that Gary had died, it would be a sad life going forward. Gary had had a good life, but he was gone way too soon. Mario's accursed boot had slain him. Larry was so angry about footwear now. He swore to avenge his fallen friend by destroying every cobbler in the universe. He would go full-on soleless.
Larry entered the garden of Billy the Blooper, local cobbler in the Seaside Kingdom. He heard many great things about the shoemaker, but all good things had to come to an end.
"This is where I watched my daisies die, Larry," said Billy ominously as he looked down at a soily bed featuring slight traces of grass and insect decay. He looked very unhappy about the situation, mainly because daisies were a symbol of immortality. The death of something immortal merely grazes the psyche, but the scarring it commits can be a tragedy.
Larry paced the cobblestone path behind Billy. "They were probably really beautiful daisies though," he said finally.
Billy nodded with feigned enthusiasm; Larry could tell. "My mother planted them several years before her passing. I've cared for them dearly ever since."
"A shame..." Larry almost felt like crying over the squid poetry, but he knew better deep down because he had an absolute duty which could not be ignored. He grabbed a nearby hoe and inched closer to Billy.
"The daisies reminded me of the frivolity of life and trusting in others. Eventually we all learn that our soul's clocks have an expiration on their aether quartz modules..." mused Billy, getting more and more poetic like an Elizabethan playwright confined within a mollusk.
Billy's literary separation from reality caused him quite the misfortune as he had no recollection of what happened next. All he could remember was the pool of black ink that soon clouded his vision forever as he sank to the ground.
Larry shuddered, dropping the hoe with a clang against the stone. "All transgressors... must be purified..."
