Without a Second Glance

Vi was more than used to running from Enforcers. She's been doing it since she was a kid. What she wasn't used to was a very stubborn Topsider sniper running alongside her. For all of Caitlyn's skills as a marksman she really needed to work on her parkour skills.

Piltover Enforcers were always uptight, but with the Council building blown up everyone's even more on edge. Vi and Caitlyn tried to get back to her place but they were stopped and questioned. Well Vi mostly. Even after Caitlyn explained that Vi was with her they still insisted on taking her in.

So here they were, running trough the streets and alleyways of Zaun with a squad of Enforcers on their heels. They barely made it here, and Caitlyn was falling behind, the wound on her leg only slowing her down further. If they caught them now, they'd ask why they're running and Caitlyn would also get in trouble because she was helping her. Especially now that no one knew the state of the Council, there weren't many people to speak up for them.

"Shit!" Vi glanced behind them. The Enforcers were pushing trough the crowds, right behind them, "Shit! This way!" She grabbed Caitlyn by the hand, running into an alley, then another and another. Even Caitlyn had trouble keeping up with the pathways Vi took them trough.

They took another turn, now in a very, very dimly lit alley. They were illuminated only by small amounts of red and blue neon lights barely shining trough.

Caitlyn finally had a chance to catch her breath and when she looked up she wished they were still on the run. Vi had her pinned to the wall, much like that day in the brothel. Only there was no mirth in her eyes, yet.

"Think we lost them Cupcake?" Vi cast a look at the alleyway before her gaze returned to Caitlyn. She was out of breath, her eyes darting around, lips parted slightly. They looked really soft.

"Vi? Are you alright?" Caitlyn followed Vi's eyes, gasping when she noticed where she was looking at. Her cheeks lit up, she turned her head for a moment before looking back at the Zaunite.

Then they heard the yelling and the sounds of boots running in their direction.

"Persistent fuckers." Vi's eyes looked around the alley, for a place to hide. But there was nothing to hide behind. Her eyes found Caitlyn's again, "I think I'm about to do something real stupid Cupcake. You trust me though right?"

Caitlyn watched as Vi pulled up her hood, "With my life. You know that." Caitlyn had no idea what Vi had planned but she had faith in her. In her more than anyone else right now. Vi's hands reached for Caitlyn's own hood and pulled it up as well. Then she leaned in, Caitlyn's eyes widening, "Um..."

"Play along." Vi whispered as she closes the gap between their lips. Caitlyn gasped against Vi's lips. This certainly isn't how she imagined her first kiss, but soon her eyes fluttered closed and she relaxed into it. Vi's lips were softer than they looked, she could still feel that little gash she had on her upper lip.

It occurred to her that she still doesn't know the story behind that, but she wasn't about to stop what they were doing to ask.

For Vi, this really wasn't how she planned on kissing Caitlyn for the first time. She planned to tease her, make her a stuttering mess, instead they were kissing in a desperate attempt to hide themselves from their pursuers. Vi's hand cupped Caitlyn's cheek, brushing away a strand of stray dark blue hair in the process.

Caitlyn sighed in response, her hands finding the back of Vi's red jacked, balling her fists into it as she drew the pink haired woman closer. Feeling quite daring for some reason, probably due to all the adrenaline, Caitlyn licked Vi's upper lip, right over the gash on her lip.

Now it was Vi's turn to gasp. She turned her head slightly as she somehow registered the voices and footsteps now closer than ever.

The two faintly heard something about "uncivilized Zaunites" but they were too occupied on the feeling of each other lips to truly notice. The phrase was followed by more sounds of boots, but this time they got further and further away. The two remained still for gods know how long, until the need to breathe became too much for them.

They separated, gasping for breath, eyes locked on each others.

"I.. uh... that worked." Vi's brain couldn't form sentences right now. All she wanted to do was to go right back to kissing the girl in front of her.

"Yeah. Good plan." Vi noticed how Caitlyn's pupils were slightly dilated and she kept looking back to her lips. She grinned and ran her tongue across her upper lip. Just as she suspected, Caitlyn's eyes followed the movement.

"We can try that plan again. I think its my favorite so far." Caitlyn's eyes were didn't move.

"Yeah." She whispered. Vi chuckled, and the sound seemed to jolt Caitlyn out of her trance, "Well.. um... we should..." Caitlyn let go of Vi's jacket, her hands crossing over her chest, "We should get going. Before they come back. We might make it to my house."

Vi blinked. Right, this is why they were even doing this, to get o Caitlyn's house, "Sure. Let's go." Vi looked away, now feeling pretty awkward.

Caitlyn must have noticed her change in demeanor, "Hey." She took Vi's hand in hers, "I like it. I really did. And I'd be more than happy to do it again once we're safe and know what's going on with everyone."

"Oh. That's... great!" Vi smiled again. Of course Caitlyn wants to make sure everyone's ok first. But she also said she wants to do this again. Vi smiled at her, a big bright smile which Caitlyn gladly returned. Hand in hand they made their way trough the streets of Zaun, paying attention to their surroundings, but also to each other. Stealing glances and blushing. There would be plenty of time to unpack all their feelings about this later.

And neither of them could wait for that moment.
