Chapter 31, Part 2B: Elsewhere and Elsewhen:
(A/N: So, as you all know, Kai and Viney are a couple and what does every couple need? That's right, a ship name! Please leave your suggestions in the reviews! thanks!)
It was a normal day as Kai and Luz were in their shared room, looking through some books that could help them with making a portal. Kai groaned as he plopped down on the ground. He looked at the Echo Mouse who was running on a hamster well.
"Yeah, us too, buddy," Kai mumbled.
Luz sighed as she ran a hand through her hair.
"No matter how many books we flip through, we can't figure out what we messed up when we made that ding-danged door," she said.
The sound of glass clinking was heard as Kai and Luz walked down the stairs to see King, Hooty and all the other adults gathered in the living room for Lilith's new job.
"It is so nice to be surrounded by all of Lulu's dearest friends." Hooty said.
"Yeah! All Hail Lulu!" Steve cheered.
"We're here to celebrate the new assistant curator of the Supernatural Museum of History. Here's to you, Lulu," Hooty said, holding up his glass.
"Cheers!" everyone said as they raised their glass.
Lilith smiled as she blushed and raised her glass. After the toast, Kai and Luz walked into the living room wearing party hats.
"Hooty, did we miss the toast?" Luz asked.
Hooty turned to them.
"Yes, but not "the app-pellet-tizers. You want it? There's an extra one. I'm working on it," Hooty said before hacking.
Kai shook his head frantically.
"Nah! We're good! Where's Aunt Liltih? We wanna congratulate her," he said, lifting his hat to show the Echo Mouse underneath.
Before Hooty could answer, a whip grabbed one of the pellets and brought it outside where Lilith was talking to a witch with light brown skin, dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a dark magenta blouse and orange pants with black boots.
"Oh, I wish I could stay longer, but I must be off on my next adventure. It's such a delight to see my little bookworm back in the historical world after all these years," she said.
"Uh, thank you, Flora. Uh, but it's just a small job. Only an assistant. I'm surprised you even heard about this," Lilith said.
"The emperor wanted to make sure you weren't getting into any trouble. And to clear out your office. I left a box of your knicknacks inside," Flora said.
She softly punched Lilith in the arm.
"Wish you took more from my tutelage, dear. History's supposed to be exciting, after all!" Flora said.
She swung her whip and launched it into the sky to wrap around a griffin's leg. Flora pulled the griffin to the ground and climbed on before cracking her whip, ordering the griffin to take off. Lilith watched Flora fly off as Kai and Luz walked towards her.
"Who was that?" Luz asked.
"Flora D'esplora, bad-girl historian, celebrity, and my former mentor in the Emperor's Coven," Lilith answered.
Kai squinted his eyes.
"I have questions about that name," he said.
"And I have questions about my life! All I ever got to do was desk work while she goofed off riding wild snake horses," Lilith ranted.
Luz gasped.
"Snorses," she squealed.
"And eating mummy jerky! Well, I can be just as exciting as Flora. I'll come up with an exhibit that'll knock the Titan's socks off!" Lilith declared.
She then marched into the house.
"Congratulations on your new job!" Luz called after her.
The two siblings walked back inside as the Echo Mouse jumped out from under Kai's hat and played another section of Philip's diary.
"After careful analysis during this Deadwardian Era, I believe the current human year is 1660. Uh…Or is it '70? The years are flashing by, but it will all be worth it. I've gathered all the portal ingredients, including Titan's Blood. All that's left is to seek out the Collector. And he will tell me what I need to complete my mission. But first my companions and I must face…."
The projection cut off as the entry was finished. Kai and Luz were sitting on the couch as King walked over.
"The Collector. I've never heard that name before," he said.
"Me neither. What kind of jerk puts "The'' in front of their name anyway?" Eda asked as she picked up the trash around the room.
"But The Collector may know how to make a real portal door. He may know why our's was so unstable. We messed up so badly last time. We need to do better," Luz said.
Eda chuckled.
"Kids, I've got leg hair older than you," she said.
Kai made a face.
"TMI, Aunt Eda," he said.
He ducked down as Eda swatted at him.
"Anyway…This Philip guy has worked on his door for years. Try not to beat yourselves up too much," Eda said.
Luz and Kai looked at each other.
"She's right. I just wish we could go back in time and talk to him," Luz said.
Kai's eyes widened and he turned to his aunt.
"Aunt Eda, is time magic a thing?" he asked.
Eda scratched her chin.
"Not really," she said before walking over to her bookshelf and pulling out a book.
Kai and Luz stood beside her.
"But back in the day, I was a bit of an urban-legend junkie. Twigfoot, Lenderman, possums," Eda said, flipping through pages.
"Eda, those are real," Luz said.
The older witch snorted.
"Yeah, sure. Anyway, there are stories about these things called "time pools". Mythical puddles that act as windows into the past, but they're never in the same spot twice. Kenny, Lily and I used to search for them. She'd say we forced her into it, but I think she had more fun than us," Eda said.
Luz smacked her forehead.
"Lilith! Of course!" she exclaimed.
She grabbed the book and ran off. Kai ran after her.
"Thanks, Aunt Eda!" He called over his shoulder.
Eda folded her arms as she smiled. In the kitchen, Lilith was working on her first exhibit which was about banisters.
"Aunt Lilith!" Kai said as he and Luz popped up beside her, startling the older woman.
Lilith squeaked and placed a hand on her chest to calm her heart.
"I see you're dealing with all of this," Luz said, looking at the makeshift balusters on the table.
"I'm plotting out my first exhibit for the museum. It's almost as if the emperor wanted Flora to tick me off. Well, I'll show her that she's not the only bad-girl historian in town. I'm thinking about the architectural history behind Deadwardian Balusters," Lilith said, holding up a poster of different designs of balusters.
Kai and Luz stared at the poster before Lilith sighed.
"This won't work will it?" she asked.
Kai placed a hand on Lilith's shoulder.
"Don't let Flora get you down, Aunt Lilith," he said, reassuringly.
Luz nodded.
"Yeah. We even started calling you "Cool Aunt Lilith" in our journal," Luz said.
Lilith blushed slightly.
"Uh, oh, really?" she asked.
Kai nodded.
"You can be a bad-girl historian. And we know how," he said, holding up the time pool book.
Lilith looked at it.
"Oh, I remember these. "In the Premysteric Era, it's theorized that coagulated Titan Blood mixed with the magical algae of the Boiling Sea created temporary holes in time"," Lilith read.
"Time magic, baby. You can make an exciting exhibit on time pools, and maybe we can get information on how Philip made the portal door," Luz said.
Lilith tapped her chin.
"I did cobble together a device to find these with Ken and Eda. It should be in the box Flora returned to me. But it was faulty. It needed more power than I could ever give it," she said.
Kai snapped his fingers.
"Hold that thought," he said before running off.
Lilith looked at Mike Socks and Luz who both shrugged. Kai came back into the kitchen with his glove covered in Titan Blood.
"Would this do the trick?" Kai asked.
Lilith looked at her poster before slamming face down on the table.
"Let's do it!" she said.
Soon, the trio began their journey of finding the time pools. First, Kai climbed a tree in order to charge up Lilith's device using the Titan Blood. After that, Mike Socks had brought some algae covered in Titan Blood to them.
Later:
Kai yawned as the group carried on. Luz was on his back, asleep as the older boy followed Lilith.
"Don't worry, Kai and Luz. We're getting closer, I can feel it," Lilith said.
She then swung her dagger into a nearby tree, startling Luz awake. Lilith peeled a piece of the bark off and placed it inside a small beaker. The beaker glowed blue before it let out a puff of smoke.
"Just as I thought. These are wrinkling oaks," Lilith said.
Luz looked closely at the tree.
"They don't look very wrinkly," she said.
"That's because something's keeping them locked in time. So, accounting for local plague patterns, the quake in the '30s, and the switch from Boiling Units to the Empirical System, the time pool should be here!" Lilith said, pushing some leaves out of the way, only to find nothing but sand and the boiling ocean.
Kai and Luz walked forward as Lilith placed her book in her satchel.
"But I triple checked my calculations. My equipment is first-rate…OOF!" Lilith grunted as she tripped.
She huffed and kicked the sand.
"Stupid Rock!" Lilith grumbled.
Kai shoved his hands into his pockets and kicked a rock. To his surprise, the rock sank into the sand. He knelt down to his knees as Luz was looking around and Lilith was trying to figure out what went wrong.
"Maybe the Titan Blood was too dry. Is it not algae blooming season?" Lilith asked herself.
Kai poked the sand, watching it ripple before dunking his head into it. On the other side, the hybrid boy saw some kind of prehistoric age of the Boiling Isles.
"Is it my tools? Are they broken?" Lilith asked.
She sniffled and took her glasses off, looking at her reflection.
"Am I broken?" she asked herself.
Kai coughed as he pulled his head out of the time pool.
"Aunt Lilith! You did it! You found the time pools!" He said, holding up a crab like creature.
Lilith gasped before turning to her reflection.
"In your face!" she said.
Later:
The trio was looking through the window time pools. Each one they'd check, they would mark with sticks. Lilith was currently looking through the one Kai had found as she watched a stone sleeper fall asleep. Lilith lifted her head out of the time pool.
"A stone sleeper from the Hecktaceous period. Did you know that they have a ticklish spot behind their ears?" Lilith said.
Luz chuckled.
"Kind of like Kai in a way. He has this spot on the back of his neck that calms him down, right Hermano?" Luz asked.
No answer came from the older boy as Kai was trying to find a time pool that led to Philip's timeline.
"Kailin, are you listening?" Lilith asked.
"Come on, time pools. I need to commune with the dead," Kai mumbled.
He took a breath and dunked his head into the sand. Poking his head out on the other side, Kai saw three vikings gathered around a campfire.
"Tonight I shall revel so hard, I shan't stand any longer!" The Knight said.
"I shall revel mineself to death!" A viking said.
Kai lifted his head up and saw the viking's skeleton a couple inches away from him.
"No wonder no one's found these before. They're completely hidden from sight," Lilith said, poking her head into the sand.
Lilith grunted as someone kicked her head, causing her to lift her head up and rubbed the bump on it. Luz ducked her head into the sand. On the other side, the Latina girl saw a much smaller and old timey version of Bonesborough.
"Aw! It's like a little Babys-borough," she said before turning to a young witch lady walking by.
"Yo! What era is it?" Luz asked.
"Tis the Deadwardian Era. What ye be doing in the sand? Be ye a crab maiden?" The lady asked.
Luz grinned.
"Philip's era! And yes. I am a crab maiden," she said before sticking her hand out.
Luz wiped the sand out of her hair and turned to Kai and Lilith.
"Hermano! Lilith!" she called.
Lilith sat up with some barnacles on her head.
"Kids, look! These are the oldest barnacles I've ever had on my head," she said.
"I found it! I found Philip's time!" Luz called.
Kai smiled as he and Lilith walked to her.
"Incredible. This will be a truly unprecedented exploration. Now, before we dive in, we must remember, if the tide comes in, we could be trapped, paradoxes will be a dange, and don't get me started on the bloody fly effect," Lilith listed.
Lilith shook her head and cleared her throat.
"But a bad-girl historian like myself is all about taking risks, so let's boogie down to History town," she said, making finger guns.
Kai facepalmed while Luz had an amazed look on her face.
"She really is Cool Aunt Lilith," she said.
Back at the Owl House:
A knock was heard from the door and Eda walked over to open it, revealing Gwendolyn.
"Hello, witchlet," Gwen said.
Eda stepped aside to let her in.
"Hey, Ma. Why are you still in town? Forget something from yesterday?" Eda asked.
"Your father wanted to swing by," Gwendolyn answered.
Eda blinked in surprise before folding her arms.
"Well, tell him I'm busy," she said.
Gwen gave a small smile.
"Maybe you could tell him yourself. He's just outside," she said.
Eda tensed up as King ran to join them.
"I get to meet my grandpa?" he asked.
Gwen turned to her younger grandson with a smile.
"Yes. You know the Clawthorne clan was once known for their Palisman-making skills? And Dell? Whoo, he was the best of them all. Kendrick really took after him when he first carved his palisman," Gwen said.
"Cool!" King exclaimed.
The sound of footsteps were heard and Eda gulped when she saw a familiar shadow at the door.
Back with Luz, Kai and Lilith:
After finding the time pool for Philip's, the trio grabbed some disguises and put them on so they wouldn't stand out. Kai looked at Blaze who rested on his shoulder.
"Sorry bud, but you're gonna have to hide in my shirt while we're here," he said, pulling his vest back.
Blaze let out an indigent chirp.
"Blaze, we can't afford being caught or messing up the timeline. So, please just do it," Kai said.
Blaze let out a huff and climbed inside Kai's vest. Kai zipped his vest up and ran to join Luz and Lilith by the entrance of the town.
"Now, Luz, Kai, we are technically in the Savage Ages, way before Belos banished wild magic. These denizens may be dangerous," Lilith warned.
Luz and Kai nodded and the trio walked inside. As they walked, a man bumped into Luz, making her jump and put her hands up, ready to fight.
"Pardon me, kind witches," the man said, tipping his hat and walking away.
The trio looked at one another before continuing walking. All around the town, they saw other witches either chatting with one another, helping each other with spells and there were little kids playing with each other.
"This place doesn't look dangerous. This looks awesome!" Luz exclaimed.
Kai nodded.
"Yeah. Why did Belos wanna banish wild magic again?" Kai asked.
"Well, the Titan "supposedly" doesn't like it an--Oh my gosh!" Lilith gasped.
She walked towards a cart of hay.
"Look at this patch work. Each segment looped by hand. Ooo-Hooo!" Lilith squealed as she pulled her notepad out.
She stopped as she sighed.
"But Flora would've scoffed at it," Lilith said, closing her book.
Kai and Luz had left to ask a few people if they had seen Philip. They walked to a spider demon who was feeding the birds.
"Excuse me, have you seen a human around? Round ears. Super smart. He's probably a celebrity around here," Luz said.
The demon shook his head. From there, the two kids went around the town asking every witch they saw if they've seen a human but was left with nothing.
"Sorry we haven't seen a human around but we wish you luck on your search," a woman with three snake heads said.
"Thank you," Luz said.
Kai sighed as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Dance, human. Dance!" a voice said.
Kai and Luz followed it and saw two demons who looke to be brothers. One had a green fang while another had red. They were tossing a book around as a young man with brown hair tied into a ponytail, light skin and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue overcoat, a light gray button up shirt, brown pants and black boots.
"Give that back!" he said.
He jumped to catch it but the brother with the green fang caught it before he could.
"I can't believe this, after the bonds of fellowship we forged," he said.
Red Fang scoffed as he pushed him to the ground.
"Bonds? You still owe us!" he said.
The man looked up at him.
"When I accomplish my mission, I promise you, you'll have your snails," he said.
The brothers didn't listen as they looked at his book.
"Heh. Listen to this. "With my new and bravest companion, Blue Fang, I set forth. His strength should make fast work of any task," Green Fang read.
His brother laughed as he took the book.
"Those pretty little words should make pretty good kindling," Red fang said, making a fire spell.
The man gasped. A strong gust of wind knocked the book out of Red Fang's hand and onto the ground. They turned to see Kai standing in front of the man with Blaze drawn out, glaring at the two brothers.
"How about you pick on someone your own size?" he asked.
Red Fang was going to give him a piece of his mind but his brother stopped him.
"Don't waste your time. He's only a kid. Ask your friend there what happened to our brohter, Blue Fang and his Palisman," Green Fang said as they walked off.
Kai snorted as he put Blaze back in his shirt. The man was picking up the pages that had fallen on the ground. Kai bent down to pick one of them up but stopped when he saw a picture of Eclipse Lake.
'He's already gotten the Titan Blood,' he said in his head.
He then noticed a pciture of two human men in the top left corner. One seemed to be Phlilip but the other one looked unfamiliar.
"Who is that?" he mumbled.
The paper was snatched from his hand as Philip stuffed it into his satchel.
"That's private," he said.
Kai blinked as Luz and Lilith walked towards them.
"You're Philip Wittebane, aren't you? The human?" Kai asked.
Philip looked at him with a blank look.
"Here to gawk? I may not have a bile sac, but I do have dignity," he said, turning to walk away.
"Wait! My brother and I have heard of your exploits, and we know what it's like to be far from home. Could we talk?" Luz asked.
Philip looked at the two siblings.
"No," he said.
He walked away.
"Wait! We can give you snails. We can make you crutches? Uh, um….We can help you find the Collector!" Kai said.
Philip stopped walking and looked at them over his shoulder.
Later:
The quartet was walking through the woods.
"So, Luzura, you, your brother, Kenai and your Aunt Dirtrude started traveling together after the Toe-gres attacked your castle and covered it with an impenetrable mist?" Philip asked.
"Yes and that's why we, too, seek The Collector. We need him to tell us how to clear the mists so we can return home. Snap, Snap, Snap," Luz said, snapping her fingers.
Kai chuckled and Lilith smiled at Luz's antics. Soon, they reached the entrance of a cave and walked inside.
"Now…Did anyone bring a torch?" Philip asked, digging in his satchel.
Kai summoned a flame in his hand as Luz made a light orb using a light glyph.
"Astounding! I thought I was the only one who used picto-glyphs," Philip said, pulling his journal out.
"You use glyphs too?" Luz asked.
Philip chuckled.
"How else could I have survived here? Plant Growth, ice, fire. Took years to find them. Almost as if the world wanted to hide them from me. I even found one in a snowflake," he said as he wrote down the light glyph.
"Dude, me too!" Luz exclaimed.
Philip smiled.
"A scholar I see. Impressive," he said before turning to Kai.
"Now as for you…I have never seen that kind of magic in my life," Philip said.
Kai rubbed his neck.
"I do magic a bit differently than other witches. It's called Elemental Magic. A few witches were given this kind of magic and were called "Mages" or "Elementals". My family happened to be among them and I inherited it from my father," he said.
Philip nodded.
"A natural warrior. Amazing," he said, walking off.
Luz gently shook Kai by his arm.
"Ah! I can't believe we taught Philip something new!" she squealed.
Kai nodded as they followed after the older man. Lilith had a look of distrust on her face as she followed the two teens. Philip tapped the light glyph, making multiple light orbs.
"A line there, curve there. Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating," Philip said before turning to Lilith.
"Your niece and nephew are very talented. I'm sure they take after their aunt," he complimented.
Lilith blushed slighlty.
"Oh. Heh. Maybe I had a little something to do with it," she said.
Philip made another light orb.
"Now, I know a few tricks as well," he said.
He grabbed a stick and started drawing in the sand. The other three stepped back as he finished. It was a series of glyph combinations.
"What is this?" Luz asked as Philip finished the last bit.
"A short cut. To the Collector," Philip answered, touching the glyphs.
A bright light went throughout the room. Kai, Luz and Lilith shielded their eyes as they were transported to another location. As the light faded, the group saw that they were in some kind of cave.
"Where are we?" Kai asked.
Luz noticed some light shining into the cave and walked towards it and gasped when she saw that they were inside of the head of the Titan!
"We're in the Titan's head!" Luz exclaimed.
"What?!" Kai and Lilith exclaimed.
Lilith turned to Philip.
"This is sacred ground. No one's allowed up here," she said.
Philip looked at her.
"I suppose that must be why no one wanted to accompany me. But every legend told me that The Collector lies there," Philip said as they stopped in front of a door.
Kai looked at the door.
"I just can't figure out the mechanism to open it. If I weren't so frail," the older man said.
He winced as he held his sore knee. Luz bent down beside him.
"Don't worry, we can help. Puzzles are in my blood," Luz said.
"Literally. I remember I had to stop you from eating puzzles when you were 6. But yeah, you chill here and we'll figure it out," Kai said.
Philip smiled.
"Thank you, Kenai and Luzura. Perhaps we were destined to meet," he said.
The two siblings smiled at him before they went to join Lilith by the door. The older witch was working on the door mechanism.
"It's peculiar. This mechanism is unlike anything I've seen before. It'll make a remarkable addition to my exhibit. It's just.." Lilith trailed off.
Kai looked at his aunt.
"What's wrong? We're getting everything we could have hoped for," he said.
Lilith sighed.
"That's just it. Look, most of this puzzle has been solved already," she said.
Luz and Kai looked at the door to see that Lilith was right. It looked like someone had already attempted to try and crack the puzzle. Lilith turned to Philip.
"And Philip…The confidence, the compliment, he says everything you want to hear. It feels uncomfortably familiar," she said.
Luz rubbed her arm.
"Some of this does feel kind of weird. But it's the Boiling Isles, weird is just how things work here," she said.
Kai nudged his aunt.
"How about you keep working on this? Luz and I will go talk to Philip," he said.
Lilith nodded and the two teens walked towards Philip who was writing in his journal. Kai looked at it over his shoulder and noticed something.
"I single handedly defeated the beast behind the door. Tragically, I could not save my companions," Kai read.
Phillip frowned and stood up as Kai and Luz stepped back.
"Philip, why did you bring us here?" Luz asked.
A rumbling sound was heard as Kai and Luz turned to see that Lilith had opened the door.
"Ahh! I did it! I solved the puzzle!" Lilith called.
Philip gained a smug look as he closed his journal.
"I needed a sacrifice," he said.
Kai's eyes widened in terror.
"What'd he say?" Lilith asked.
Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed Lilith. The raven haired woman screamed as she was dragged into the darkness.
"Aunt Lilith!" Kai and Luz shouted.
Philip placed his book in his satchel.
"Well, with the beast distracted, I can finally get through those doors," he said.
Kai growled and grabbed him by the front of his jacket, glaring at the older man.
"You tricked us!" he growled.
Philip chuckled.
"It was…" he started to say before getting cut off.
"Destiny? Bullshit!" Kai snarled.
The older man chuckled again.
"I was going to say "inevitable". You three were easier to trick than Blue Fang. Hopefully, you two and "Aunt Dirtrude" can last longer," he said.
Kai growled as he was ready to beat his ass. But before he could, Lilith's screams were heard from inside.
"Kai, we don't have time for this! Lilith needs help!" Luz said.
She ran into the room. Kai released Philip and ran after his sister. When the two siblings entered, they both gasped when they saw a Stone Sleeper holding Lilith in its paw.
"Lilith!" Luz exclaimed.
The Stone Sleeper roared at them as it charged towards the two kids. Kai summoned a ball of ice while Luz pulled out an ice glyph. Together, the two siblings froze the ground, making the Stone Sleeper slip and fall, dropping Lilith. Kai and Luz ran towards Lilith as they pulled her to safety. While they were doing that, Philip walked up to a crater that looked like a moon and pulled out a shovel to start digging. Lilith turned to him, waving a fist.
"That better be your own grave you're digging!" she spat.
Kai drew Blaze out and sent a wave of fire at the Stone Sleeper. The Stone Sleeper growled and swiped at Kai. The hybrid jumped back and landed on his feet.
"Kai!" Luz shouted.
"Go find some cover! I'll deal with him!" her brother said.
Lilith and Luz ran off to find cover. As Kai was trying to hold off the Stone Sleeper, Philip had finally managed to dig up some sort of circular mirror. The brown haired man grinned as he picked it up.
"Found you," he said.
Luz and Lilith hid behind a pillar.
"Phillip, I know you wanna get home, but nothing is worth hurting people," Luz tried to reason.
A shout was heard as Kai was tossed to the ground. He landed on his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
"Kailin!" Lilith shouted, running towards her nephew
Kai winced as Lilith helped him up and they both ran to join Luz.
"She's right! Hurting people to get what you want isn't right! You may think it's going to help you in the future but it's just going to put you back where you started," Kai said.
Lilith let out a scream as she pulled the two kids to the ground to avoid the Stone Sleeper's tail. Philip didn't listen as he placed the circle shaped mirror in his satchel.
"I disagree. It was nice making a cat's paw out of you," he said.
He used the bottom of his shovel to draw the same glyph combination as before.
"Good luck with your crab castle or whatever. You witches come up with the worst lies," Philip said as he was transported away.
A birght light emitted from the crater, catching the Stone Sleeper's attention and giving the trio enough time to hide behind a rock.
"Is this how it all ends for Lilith Clawthorne? Her body lost to time?" Lilith asked.
Kai sighed.
"You were right about that jackass. We're sorry, Aunt Lilith," he said.
Lilith gave him a smile.
"Your humility before death truly heartens me," she said.
"Yeah, I should've listened to you," Kai admitted.
He then realized something.
"Wait. I did listen to you," Kai said.
Luz and Lilith made a so and so motion before Kai ran towards the Stone Sleeper.
"Kailin!" Lilith shouted.
Kai gained a determined look as he charged at the Stone Sleeper. Lilith began to panic slightly as she pulled her hat over her eyes.
"Ken and Eda's gonna kill me! Ken and Eda's gonna kill me! Ken and Eda's gonna kill me!" she rambled as she covered her eyes.
But instead of hearing Kai's shouts of terror, the sound of purring was heard, making Lilith uncover her eyes to see her nephew scratching the space behind the Stone Sleeper's ear.
"It's a Stone Sleeper for the Hecktaceous Period! It must've been hibernating here for years," Kai said.
He continued to scratch the Stone sleeper's ear.
"Aw! Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?" Kai said as Lilith and Luz smiled.
"You were listening," Lilith said.
Back with Philip:
The brown haired man was walking down the path.
"And so I doggedly limped home, but I had my prize," Philip said as he wrote in his journal.
He pulled out the circle mirror.
"How to describe you? Oval? Oblong? A round boy?" Philip said to himself before a loud stomping was heard behind him.
He turned to see the Stone Sleeper towering above him. The beast roared at him and Philip gasped in shock. Kai, Luz and Lilith jumped down from the Stone Sleeper and walked towarda Philip as Kai had Blaze drawn out.
"I'm going to say this once. Tell us how that thing's gonna help you build a portal to the Human Realm," Kai growled, aiming Blaze at Philip.
Philip looked at them confused before chuckling.
"Oh, no. I need this for something else," he said.
Kai's eyebrow twitched while Luz looked pissed.
"No? What do you mean, "No"?!" Luz exclaimed.
"I mean, if it's information you want, perhaps we can make an exchange. I'll probably require another sacrifice sooner or later," Philip said.
Kai gained a deadpanned and very annoyed look.
'Is this jackass for real?' he said.
Lilith had reached her breaking point as she stalked up to Philip. Kai pulled Luz to the side as Lilith punched Philip in the nose!
"Damnnnnnn!" Kai and Luz exclaimed, eyes wide.
Philip fell to the ground holding his nose and glared at Lilith.
"You hateable sorceress!" he spat.
Lilith crossed her arms.
"Stay mad. Come, Luzura, Kenai. We're finished here," she said, climbing onto the Stone Sleeper.
Luz followed after her while Kai gave Philip a smirk.
"Karma, bitch," he said as he joined his aunt and sister on the Stone Sleeper.
They took off, hitting Philip on the way. Kai and Luz sighed, saddened that they couldn't get the information they needed. Lilith placed a hand on Kai's head.
"You know, if a jerk like Philip can build a portal, then I'm sure you two can," she said, smiling reassuringly.
The two teens smiled at her.
"Thanks," Luz said.
"You know, we still have time before the tide comes in. Anything fun you guys want to do?" Kai asked, looking at Lilith with a smile.
His aunt gave him a confused look.
Later:
Back in the town, Lilith was writing down in her notepad as a witch was working on Deadwardian balusters.
"Deadwardian balusters, kids! Deadwardian balusters!" she exclaimed.
Kai and Luz smiled at how happy Lilith was. After that, they hurried home so they wouldn't be caught in the tides.
"Hey, Aunt Eda!" Kai called as they landed in front of the Owl House.
Eda turned to them.
"Hey ya nerds! How was your nerd quest? You found the dead nerd?" Eda asked, smirking.
Luz and Kai rolled their eyes.
"Very funny, Eda. But yeah, we found Philip," Luz said.
Eda blinked in surprise.
"Whoah. Really?" she asked.
Kai nodded.
"Yep and it turns out, he's a jackass," he said.
"I punched him in the face," Lilith said.
Luz gave her a finger gun.
"Groovy, Auntie," she said.
Lilith gave her a finger gun as well. Eda rolled her eyes befored addressing Kai.
"Hey, nephew, come inside, there's someone who wants to meet you," she said.
Kai raised an eyebrow before they all went inside the house. Lilith smiled when she saw her father.
"Dad!" she said, running to hug her father.
Dell smiled as he hugged his oldest daughter.
"Good to see you too, Lilith," he said.
"Dad," Eda called.
Dell turned to her and stopped when he saw Kai standing beside her with Blaze on his shoulder.
"This is Kailin. He's Kendrick and Jennifer's kid and your oldest grandson," Eda said.
Kai looked at his grandfather as Dell stared at him. Tears filled the older man's eyes as he cried softly, surprisng everyone.
"Dell, are you okay?" Gwendolyn asked.
Her husband nodded as he wiped his eyes.
"Yes. It just feels like I'm staring at my son again," he said, smiling.
Everyone gained remorseful looks. Kai moved forward and hugged his grandfather, taking Dell by surprise.
"It's going to be okay, Grandpa," he said.
Dell hugged him back as the others watched with a smile.
Back in the Deadwardian Era:
Philip was groaning in pain, holding his nose as he walked through a cave. He tripped over something and looked down to see the head of a palisman. Philip growled and kicked it away.
"Those barbarians. Those--Those witches!" Philip shouted, his voice echoing.
He made some light orbs before groaning in pain. He rolled his sleeve up to show his arm covered in glyph symbols as it bulged. Philip ignored the pain as he knned in front of a pile of broken palisman. He grabbed one, twisted its head off and sucked up the green essence. Once that was done, Philip reached to pull out the circular mirror.
"It doesn't matter. I just need to live long enough to see this through," he said as he activated the mirror.
A greenish blue light brightened up the cave as escriptions of the moon and sun appeared on the walls.
"And you're going to help me, Collector," Philip said, smirking.
