Project Lupa Assassins vs the Pack chronicles CHAPTER 4

They arrived back in DC at the Triskelion where Skye follows behind May and Coulson. Natasha had left as soon as they landed. Jemma and Leo had left to go to the labs saying they would meet them back in their apartment later. Skye had to admit every time she saw the Triskelion it made her question if she belonged. Coulson slowed down his pace so that he was walking beside her, he didn't say anything but she appreciated the gesture. Director Fury's office was on the top floor and when they entered his office Skye was happy to see Maria standing there with Natasha who was sitting on the couch. Skye looked from her to Maria held her gaze for two seconds before looking down she felt like she disappointed her somehow and her wolf went all submissive needing her approval.

"I have been enlightened of everything." Fury stated he was looking at her at which she held his gaze only to end up shifting on her feet as she felt Maria looking at her. Coulson greeted Maria before speaking with Nick.

"Sir I can..."

"Skye is being transferred to work alongside Natasha." Fury stated interrupting Coulson who went tense. Skye also seemed to freeze she had to remind herself she had to breathe.

"Sir, I really must object. Skye is part of my team." Coulson stated and Skye was touched that Coulson was willing to stand up for her.

"Coulson this is not up for discussion."

"Sir she is still technically a consultant." May stated surprising Skye.

"Not any more." Fury stated showing Coulson a form and badge.

"This says she is an asset." Coulson stated he seemed angry. Skye was not entirely sure what it meant for her to be classed as an asset.

"Romanoff is classed as an Asset."

"And a high level agent." Coulson pointed out.

"AC it's fine." Skye stated noting that Coulson was actually glaring at the Director.

"Skye..." Coulson turned to look at her.

"I take it this won't be forever. Sort of like probation." Skye stated

"You shouldn't have to." Coulson stated seeming she had been part of his team for 6 months now. She has proven her loyalty over and over.

"The girl agrees to it." Fury stated but it was the wrong thing to say seeming Coulson turned around a low growl escaping.

"Phil." Maria stated in a warning tone. May ended up taking hold of his hand calming him down.

"2 weeks then she is back on the bus with level 2 status." Coulson stated

"6 months level one." Nick rebutted

"1 month level 3." Coulson bartered

"2 months level 2." Nick stated "final offer or she won't be going back to the plane."

"Deal." Coulson relented Skye was not sure how she felt as they were talking about her and she was not getting a say in it but she remained silent only watching them. She could feel eyes on her so turned to look at Natasha who seemed to be searching her expression on how she felt Skye could only shrug she was used to people making decisions for her.

They then turned to the discussion of Ward and Garrett they spent an hour making a plan considering they needed actual evidence that they were up to no good. With that the meeting was finished and they headed back to the pack apartment. Natasha and Maria took Skye aside to talk some more and to make sure that she was okay with this plan. She had ended up lying on Maria's lap as the others goofed off in the lounge. Skye was a little disappointed that Bobbie was not here but she was on her own mission with Izzy.

"So if I am working with Nat does that mean Clint too?" She asked sitting up as a thought occurred to her. "Do I get to meet the other Avengers? Stark? I want a hack off." Skye stated her eyes lighting up at the idea

"For now you will be staying in DC." Maria replied thinking that Skye meeting Stark would be very bad.

"Oh." Skye deflated a little.

"But you never know two months is a long time. Anything can happen." Natasha stated earning a glare from Maria and Coulson.

"You know I hacked Stark Industries before, just to see if I could you know."

"How far did you get?" Maria asked slightly curious even though she was not condoning her actions.

"I made it far enough to see his AI code. When I saw that...I left his system."

"You met Jarvis?" Natasha asked

"Yep, he tried back hacking me... I got out pretty fast even left the State I was in at the time. Artificial Intelligence revolutionary way above anything I could ever imagine."

"You got that far into his system?" Natasha asked

"I did hack SHIELD four times." Skye shrugged then realised what she said

"Four?" Maria asked

"Oh yeah you only know about the times I wanted to be caught." Skye stated slowly

"Skye."

"I thought you were the bad guys...you had a file on me and I wanted it."

"Skye...just no more hacking SHIELD." Maria replied with a sigh. She knew that Skye was after the file on her parents, Maria had found it but not told her mainly because it didn't really give any relevant information on her parents. It was about a massacre and an O84. She was not sure yet how it relates to Skye she has both May and Natasha searching in their free time.

"I make no promises." Skye replied still lying down looking up at Maria giving her an innocent smile. Maria gave her a pointed look. "Fine, I promise I won't hack SHIELD... without telling you first." Skye stated making Maria sigh again Skye gave a light chuckle.

"What am I going to do with you?"

"Love me, I am adorable." Skye replied with a smile, Coulson was watching this interaction not believing that this girl could be a trained assassin. He looked over at Natasha who was also watching this a fond smile graced her lips. She was still the same Skye that he picked up from that van in the alley.

...TIME SKIP...

Skye remained completely still, she had been training with Natasha for a week now and had been given a mission. It was a recon mission, and Skye was bored. But she remained alert watching the building across from her.

"You know when they said I was going to work with you I did not picture it us sitting in a building watching the building across the road." Skye stated over coms.

"You go where your told." Natasha replied

"I know, but isn't this a little below your skill level? I mean any other agent could have done this." Skye stated

"We are infiltrating them this afternoon." Natasha replied

"The guard shifts every two hours alternating between three teams by say 5 they will all be tired. The building is divided into two sections one where the normal people work. Section two is more closed off those of higher clearance only. Section one people are coming and going freely section two not much movement. The easiest way into section two would be the middle elevator. Those that have come and gone use the first. Only one person has used the third and his suit screamed important so that would be a personal elevator which means not easy to access. The middle one is in the busy section of section one no one pays it too much attention. Then again I have no idea what exactly we are after." Skye stated just to show that she had been paying attention she could feel surprise across the link but it did not belong to Natasha. Natasha seemed pleased as did Maria. "I mean unless you want to take the service elevator and disguise yourself as a parcel deliverer? Is that a word?" Skye asked as she repeated the word it did not sound right.

Soon enough it was five o'clock and after a quick brief with Natasha Skye knew what she was needing to do, she walked into the building like she was meant to be there the guard paid her no attention thanks to the id Natasha gave her as she walked through the corridor she made her way past other workers. Most were tired from the days work and was not interested in her as they tried to finish their own work for the day. Skye made it to the elevator heading up to section two hoping she was right and chose the correct elevator. When the door opened and she did not find a security checkpoint she sighed in relief heading to the server room. Once inside she planted her microchip in and copied what they needed onto her phone. It took longer than Skye liked before she made sure she left no trace of what she did. Leaving the server room and made it back to the elevator she couldn't stop the feeling of relief once she made it out of the elevator and past the main set of cubicles. That relief was short lived when she was stopped by the security right in the doorway to the exit. Literally two steps and she would be out on the three steps before hitting the curb.

Skye turned to look at the security men and something about him seemed familiar but Skye could not place it.

"It is you!" He stated reaching for his radio Skye did the only thing she thought of. Kicked him in the soft area then ran down the steps. Stopping as she looked around Natasha was still busy with her part, Skye finished early so was planning on meeting her away from the building at rondevu beta. Skye knew she had to start moving her solution was when a car pulled up to the curb and the door opened.

"Get in!" A voice shouted and Skye after a moment of freezing when she recognised the voice practically jumped in the car. She turned to look at the driver as they drove off. "Seatbelt." She stated Skye did it a little robotically.

"Firstly when do you drive bumblebee and secondly technically this should have been firstly How are you alive?" Skye asked punching Alex in the arm.

"Good to see you too Skye." Alex drawled out.

"No you don't get to do that, I thought you were dead."

"They don't want one of us they wanted us together. This was the easiest way. I'm sorry."

"Do you have any idea what I went through?"

"I was trying to protect you." Alex stated as she turned a corner. They sat in silence for a minute before Skye turned to look at Alex. Her golden blonde hair was tied in a messy bun, her usually golden skin had a pale effect to it. But her eyes were the same, the unwavering icy blue that she grew up gaining comfort from. "I'm sorry." She stated

"How did you find me?" Skye asked

"I saw you enter the building. Skye why were you there? Were you trying to get Marcel's attention?" Alex asked

"No, why would I?" Skye asked back then it dawned on her "that was one of his buildings?" She asked

"I thought you knew?"

"I should have known, why didn't I make the connections. Oh god he could have..."

"Skye." Alex stated grabbing her attention she placed her hand on her leg instantly calming Skye.

"You know I forgot you could do that." Skye mumbled as she tried to keep the others out of the link but was failing at it.

'Skye? What is going on?' Maria asked breaking through her block.

"What were you doing there?" Skye asked not answering Maria as she could see exactly what was going on.

"Trying to get Marcel's attention." Alex replied simply.

"Are you crazy?" Skye demanded turning a glare on her friend.

"No I am tired. Tired of running, always looking over my shoulder...I made a friend Skye breaking my number one rule and he is dead now because Marcel found me. That fire...I was staying in that house they started the fire, I got one kid out went in to get the other...it was too late I got to her room and the ceiling collapsed on her. I barely made it out." Alex stated her grip tightening on the steering wheel.

"Alex." Skye did not know what to say, Alex was always the strong one. Nothing ever seemed to bother her.

"Where to?" She asked

"Two blocks on the right." Skye replied Alex nodded letting it drift into silence.

"If it is any constellation I am glad you are alive." Skye stated once she pulled up into a parking spot.

"If I were you I would get out of this State. Lay low." Alex informed her. Skye looked at her friend and before she could stop herself Skye places her hand on her face cupping her cheek stared into her eyes and a spark ran through them.

"What the hell? Skye why would you do that?"

"This way if you need help I will know and be there."

"Skye you realise what it is you did. You re established our bond."

"I know." Skye stated climbing out of the car. "You know how to contact me." Skye stated Alex gave her a nod before driving away. Skye saw that she still had one hand on her face where Skye had touched her. Skye herself felt the tingling in her hand. That deep seeded feeling in the back of her head once again became active.

'Skye what is going on?' Maria asked she had nearly forgotten that Maria was there.

'Alex is alive.' Skye replied now that the car was out of her sight she moved to the meet up point.

'Debriefing in my office when you get back.' Maria stated Skye did not know what she was feeling at the moment so instead of trying to figure it out she focused on the job. She met up with Natasha who gave her a once over to make sure she was okay before they got on the quin jet that was waiting for them. Skye was surprised that Clint was the pilot. She saw how Natasha and Clint would send her a look even though Skye did show them that she had completed her mission. They didn't speak about what had happened Maria wanted to talk when they got back and that was where they were heading.
