Project Lupa Assassins vs the Pack CHAPTER 9
Maria watched as Skye and Alex moved outside, Alex taking in deep breaths of fresh air before she simply sat down. It looked like she was meditating Skye on her part sat down next to her but took it a step further and ended up lying down to look up, Alex joined her.
"The red serum? Did they use that on you?" Skye asked Maria was curious and wanted to listen in but she moved back and sat on the step so she was watching from a distance.
"I called it the fire serum…on how it felt like fire."
"I still don't know what it was for."
"I don't know half the stuff they did to us was for. I just remember them taking notes as I screamed for help." Alex stated shuddering at the memory.
"I had a bad reaction one time, this was before I met you. I seriously thought I was dying, the doctors did too labelling me as a fail… they were surprised when I made it. After that I was introduced to you and they formed our bond."
"One time when I was on the table, I couldn't move but I felt everything. I was awake and could hear them talking. I was actually crying the pain was that bad…one of the nurses wanted to stop, she was the one to realise I was awake. They didn't stop…"
"God our life is messed up." Skye stated with a pained chuckle Alex joined in. "Do you remember your parents?" Skye asked after they returned to silence
"Honestly? No. I remember that I was a street kid before they found me but even that is hazy. Do you still remember the orphanage?"
"I remember the nuns and their talk of gods wrath, there was one nun she told us that god is love and that always sort of stuck even through everything we went through. Although because of everything we went through I don't believe in god."
"Are you still looking for your parents?" Alex asked
"Yeah…no…I don't know. Maybe they don't want to be found. Am I just wasting my time looking for them? Who would want me anyway?" Skye stated at this Maria was about to intervene but she didn't have to seeming Alex did it. She did it by a slap. "Hey? What was that for?"
"For starters that was getting way too depressing and secondly any parent would be proud to call you there kid."
"Don't go there Alex." Skye stated she was rather sensitive around parent talk.
"You think I'm lying? Look around Skye. You have paternal figures that are damn right proud to call you family. Not me obviously I am too young to be your mother…I'm talking about the mother figure sitting on the step watching over us now, her partner hovering in the lounge not sure wither to come out or not and don't get me started on the couple on third floor looking out the window at us. You've become part of their family Skye, you have siblings, cousins even a weird uncle. I hear that makes it a real family. Not to mention a hot amazon warrior and a best friend that will know you straight every time." Alex stated "oh god when did I become so sappy? Get up we're sparring." Alex stated standing up.
"I quite like lying here looking up at the sky." Skye tried at this Alex pulled her up
"I haven't sparred with you in a while let's see how sloppy you've become."
"Sloppy? Excuse me? I have…relaxed slightly…but I am not sloppy." Skye stated following behind Alex to the gym. Alex nodded to Maria and Natasha as she walked past her. "Just remember I have focused more on my computer skills over the last five years more so than my physical." Skye stated
"I'm not going easy on you." Alex retorted
"I'll get my amazon warrior to kick your butt if you hurt mine too bad." Skye stated after getting changed into workout gear they were on the mats stretching out. Skye looked around the room to see they had gained an audience including May.
"Distractions get you killed." Alex gave her one piece of advice before they started.
Skye had sparred with May and Bobbie before, even Natasha and Maria but that was nothing compared to sparring with Alex. Skye landed on the mat with a very loud thud before rolling out of the way of her feet she managed to jump back up to hers. Blocking Alex's next attack barely, landing her own attack against her. As Skye suspected though her five years of focusing on her hacking skills and less on physical were proven as she once again landed on the mats as Alex managed to get her in a hold.
"I recall you used to be able to get out of this hold." Alex stated letting Skye go once she tapped out.
"Give me a week and I will be able to again." Skye stated as they started again this time Skye managed to get Alex onto the ground she smiled happy in her triumph until she saw Alex smiling also. "Oh shit." Skye stated as Alex got out of the hold and reversed it so that Skye was on the ground in a more painful position.
"Don't let your guard down until the fight is over." Alex stated "you're holding back, stop holding back." Alex added
"You're holding back too." Skye retorted "Wait, keep holding back." Skye stated she did not want to fight Alex at full strength. She remembered the last fight seeing her at full strength and what that accomplished. Skye's head went back as Alex struck her face.
"Distractions get you killed." Alex repeated
"Owe." Skye stated holding her face her nose was bleeding. "Did you have to go for the face?" she asked
"If you were focused you would have dodged it." Alex repeated with her head tilted Skye wiped her nose, it had already stopped bleeding, not just because of the wolf serum but also because it was their bond.
"I was just remembering October 5th." Skye stated getting back in the ready stance waving off Maria's concern.
"You really want to reminisce about that day?" Alex asked back
"Considering we almost died…not really." Skye stated as they started fighting again this time it was different. It was more intense and Skye was holding out longer as they fell back into the pattern of sparring with each other. They both knew each others moves and how to block them. They started fighting faster and harder. Skye ended up on the ground as Alex went into punch her Skye moved her head so that Alex hit the mat.
"Are you mad at me or something?" Skye asked twisting her hips she used her legs to flip Alex off her and she kept the movement going so that she was back on her feet.
"I knew you remembered." Alex was now smiling, Skye was too. It had been a while since she fought like this. The others could only watch on in silence as the two of them sparred. Jemma kept wincing each time Alex made contact with Skye knowing it must have hurt but Skye kept going. Natasha noticed that Skye got through Alex's defence only a couple of times and that Alex was indeed holding back. She watched as Skye was pulling off moves that neither May or herself taught her or how Skye would seem to bounce right back even after a particular hard hit. It finished with Skye on the mat tapping out as both Alex and Skye stood up, they saw that neither of them were out of breath.
"You win no more." Skye stated lying on the mat stretching out she looked tired.
"1 week Skye." Alex stated this made Skye sit up and look at her then when she understood she fell back to the mat.
"1 week what?" Fitz asked
"Rematch." Skye mumbled not at all happy about it, she knew this meant she will need to work out a lot more to get her body ready for the next sparing session.
"That was a nice warm up, haven't had that much fun in a while." Alex smiled Maria was happy to see her smile and was amused at Skye's reaction who was not at all impressed or eager for their next sparring match. Alex looked around the room at everyone that was watching them her eyes landing on Sharon she stared at her for a few seconds before walking off towards the showers without saying anything. Maria felt Sharon's disappointment over the link as it turned to bitterness seeing Bobbie pulling Skye up from the mat. Maria will have to keep an eye on that. She thought to herself as the others drifted off going their own ways, May having a few words with Skye something about no more holding back in training. Skye seemed more nervous about May than Alex's threat as Bobbie led her towards their room. Natasha moved over to Maria.
"Everything okay?" Natasha asked wrapping Maria in a hug from behind she began kissing her on the neck.
"For now." Maria replied grinning she turned her head so that Natasha kissed her lips not her neck. 'Need to keep an eye on Sharon.' Maria informed her over their link. Natasha nodded her head in agreement as she deepened the kiss. Natasha broke it off stepping back before walking off to go and check on the progress Jemma and Leo had with the box.
