Project Lupa Assassins vs the Pack chronicles CHAPTER11

Alex woke up next to Maria who was lying down, Alex was pressed up against her holding onto her top, part of her wanted to push her away to get up but she didn't end up doing that instead she gripped tighter onto Maria's top. She wanted Maria's approval, needed to please her. She knew that Maria was awake she also sensed that Natasha was in the room. It was like they were both waiting to see what she would do next. She should get up and leave…pain flared through her head and she ended up burying her head closer to Maria the pain stopped.

"I'm sorry." Alex stated, she was never good with apologies she never really felt the need to apologise to anyone before but her wolf needed this. Maria still remained silent waiting for her to take the next step. "My head feels weird." She added not sure why. "I wanted to protect you." Alex added.

"We are a pack Alex and the pack is stronger together." Maria finally stated not turning to face her mainly because Alex was pressed up against her back still clinging to her. Alex was quiet for a while stuck with her thoughts.

"I want to get up, I just don't want to…" Alex stated still gripping onto Maria's top. Maria could hear the confusion in her voice.

"Okay then let's get up." Maria stated moving so that she was sitting up, Alex followed her movements.

They went out into the living room, the only other ones in their were May, Bobbie and Skye. Alex didn't look at any of them. Maria went over to make a coffee as Natasha went over to May. Alex looked over at the door but found she had no motivation to leave the pack so instead she sat on one of the dining chairs and kept to herself still trying to process what they did to her. Alex knew they must have done something to her because she found her motivation in going after Marcel was not as strong as what it had been instead she had a stronger need, one to remain in the pack.

"Hey." Skye stated standing across from her, she seemed hesitant to be there. Alex looked over at Bobbie and May both of whom were staring at them.

"Hey." Alex replied pulling one of her legs up to her chest so she was hugging it.

"You should have told me." Skye stated making Alex turn to look at her she could see anger and hurt in her eyes.

"No point now…this…whatever this is, is stronger than I realised." Alex stated referring to the wolf bond.

"You were just going to leave again?" Skye asked

"You don't need me now Skye, look around these are your people I don't belong here." Alex stated at this Skye went to strike Alex but she grabbed her wrist stopping the contact. Alex closed her eyes before letting go of Skye's wrist Skye knew this was due to a command Maria must have given her. "I'm going to the gym." She stated walking down to the gym after Maria nodded.

Alex had spent 2 hours on the punching bag, she was wearing a sports bra and shorts she had a nice glisten now. Others had joined her in the gym but she paid them little attention although she knew their locations she couldn't turn off her training. That was until someone specific entered the room, Sharon. This made Alex tense as her wolf caught her scent and wanted her, badly. She punched harder until her right hook tore through the bag. She stepped back, took off her gloves and went to leave but found that Sharon was blocking her exit.

"We need to talk." She stated stressing out the word need. Alex stood their staring at her, at a loss of words.

"You do not want me." Alex stated going to walk around her but at this Sharon grabbed her arm stopping her.

"You do not know what I want. You do not speak for me." Sharon stated at this Alex froze not only was her arm tingling where Sharon was touching her, but her wolf was going submissive in her head, it was wanting Sharon. Sharon who was holding her gaze, who also happened to be in her own workout gear that fitted her perfectly. She was finding it hard to keep her guard up.

"I do not speak for you, but I speak for me." She was stopped seeming Sharon had knocked her to the ground and was leaning over her. Sharon kissed her stopping the protest that she was about to say. A zap ran through her body as her wolf identified and accepted Sharon as her mate it sent her entire body feeling a tingling sensation, Alex was in shock.

"You have been avoiding me, if you are going to reject me, know that is what you will be missing out on." Sharon stated pushing herself up.

"You kissed me." Alex stated still not getting up, but she was looking up at her with her head slightly tilted. "I…" Alex stopped did she want to reject her? Alex knew that she would never be good enough for Sharon and that if she did be with her, she would be in danger because of her, but still…she could still feel that kiss on her lips. Sharon was still standing there and for a moment Alex had her defences down she could see her feelings hell she could feel them herself. She knew that her wolf wanted her but just like that Alex's walls were pulled up she didn't say anything she jumped to her feet and left the room heading for the shower. Alex was standing in the hot water trying to figure out what to do.

"You didn't give me an answer, are you going to reject me?" Sharon asked entering the bathroom.

"I am in the shower." Alex replied

"Still not an answer." Sharon retorted

"Do you really want my answer? I might say yes." Alex replied not turning to face her, Sharon could see the scars on her back.

"I don't think you want to reject me." Sharon stated "You don't think you are good enough for me isn't that right?" she asked but Alex remained silent. "How would you know what I want?"

"I am not good enough. I am a killer. A weapon. Nothing but an experiment."

"We are not perfect, I am no saint and if you hadn't noticed technically everyone in this house is an experiment. You saved me, you saved Skye I think you should give yourself more credit." Sharon stated, at this Alex turned to look at her, she turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. Holding Sharon's gaze before grabbing a towel. She once again walked away without saying anything else.

Maria felt Sharon's frustrations across the link, she was bracing herself for the fall out of what might happen if Alex did indeed reject Sharon although part of her knew that her wolf would not reject her still Alex was stubborn and confused. Maria knew she could not interfere with them, none of them could but everyone in the house was rooting for them to sort it out. Sharon had gone to the gym and was working out on the punching bag, Natasha had joined her to make sure she was okay. Skye who was in the lounge with Bobbie, Jemma, Leo, Trip and Hunter who were playing on the xbox. Wanda was reading a book and Pietro he was in the gym running. May and Coulson were up in their room going over case files, Mack and Izzy were on a mission and Clint he was spending some time on the farm with Laura. Skye kept sending looks in the direction of Alex's room, but remained cuddled up to Bobbie who was reading a book. Skye her phone in her hand, but not really paying it any attention.

In the gym, Natasha looked up to see Alex enter she moved over to Sharon so Nat took this chance to leave seeing that they were going to talk.

"I was six when I was taken off the streets from Athens my parents did not want me and an orphanage well I had not heard of them. Whatever they did to me I do not remember my life in Greece. They started experimenting on me right away and everything they did hurt more then you or anyone here could possibly imagine. You've seen my scars they were a breeze compared to what they did to me. Skye does not even know half the stuff they did. Because of everything they did there is only one person I trust, but this bond…I am…feeling things I have never needed to before, it is definitely changing me, again. I did not agree to this any of it I was never given the option. You are now saying it is up to me? In all honesty I do not know what I want, I had a goal which is now looking less likely to be achievable because of this…" Alex found her throat getting dry as Sharon stood their staring at her not sure where this was going. "You need to know I do not trust easily, you people have done the same thing that he did. You have taken my life, you say you are different then he and his people, but you will use me just as he did. You say you are different but that is just words. These feelings I am feeling towards you were because of this wolf bond no? that is the same thing they did with me and Skye. You need to understand that this is how I see things so that is why I am confused when you are asking me if I want to reject you when we both know that that is not possible. My wolf knows you, it has accepted you and I will do whatever I can to protect you, to not hurt you but it will take time if you want the real me and not just this bond because all you people have done so far is prove that you have a stronger hold than what he did." Alex stated she didn't give Sharon the chance to respond she turned and walked out of the gym knowing that not only Sharon heard her but so did the others in the pack because she had a feeling she had broadcasted that across the link. Alex went to her room and shut the door, she felt agitated so sat down and meditated trying to calm herself she focused on the air around her letting her mind occupy with her power instead of her emotions. Skye was the one that ended up going in to check on her, she didn't say anything she sat on the bed and waited.

"Have you come to tell me I am wrong?" Alex asked not turning to look at her.

"Do you remember what Master Sargent said?" Skye asked at this Alex did turn to look at her, Master Sargent was the one that trained (tortured) them until they broke then rebuilt them into weapons. "You think Maria and the others are like him? Like any of our handlers? Doc or any of the scientists?" Skye asked

"They have different methods but their goals are similar." Alex retorted

"If you think that then they have failed to show you what it is they really do." Skye replied

"You are going to tell me that these people are the good guys? That they protect the innocent, this I know. But in order for them to do that there will be fighting…killing. That is why they experimented on themselves so that they can stay in the fight. To win the fight. Marcel thinks what he did was acceptable, was right. He wanted weapons to take out his competition his enemies. We did that, we became his weapons in his fight…now we are the same for these people. I got us out so you didn't have to do this and yet you chose to join these people."

"So we can stop people like Marcel. Do you think I forgot what we went through? What he did to us? The scars on my back…my powers…a constant reminder of what he did but we cannot change what he did, what we went through… why not help people that stop people like him? They do protect the innocent. Is that not more fitting then going on a solo vendetta?" Skye asked

"No, because it brings them in, it puts them in danger. They become a liability, a distraction. Solo you do not have to worry about anyone else other then the job."

"Job? You are acting like you still…" Skye stopped

"Still what Skye? Like an assassin? A puppet? My strings were cut, I was going after the puppet master himself burning his empire down and you stopped me. I am still programmed to protect you, my training is still on par…this…you brought me into this. This Pack…I did not want this, I did not ask for this. I was doing fine on my own." Alex stated she was now standing as was Skye, the air pressure in the room was increasing and Skye could feel her own powers begin to react to her.

"You think you are the only one that was programmed to protect? We are Oztark! Would you rather be locked up? Or worse killed? I was not conscious when they gave you the serum but if I was I would have asked them to do this. You were dying…."

"Protecting one of your people." Alex pointed out

"I lost you once before, you faked your death and it broke me! I was not…am not going to lose you now that I have found you again. Alex if you like it or not we are Oztark what they did to us cannot be undone, what we went through cannot be washed away, forgotten." Skye stated stepping closer to her. "You were going to kill yourself just so you could get him? No! Life is worth living." She was standing so close to Alex now as they looked in each others eyes, Skye could see the storm raging in them but her face was neutral. Skye knew that the next few seconds would be crucial. "These people are offering you a life. Sharon… you do get a choice…" Skye stopped seeing how expression darkened. "You have an option to be happy here." Skye stated carefully.

"Happy? Happiness is irrelevant." Alex replied in a whisper, it was something that Master Sargent drilled into them. Alex now had a set determination and it had her weary of it. "A choice you say?" Alex straightened squaring her shoulders.

"Alex?" Skye asked worried that she was about to do something reckless.

"I renounce this Pack." Alex stated clearly making Skye freeze as did everyone else in the pack. Alex held out her hand and the wall behind broke apart. Alex now had her wings out, Skye reached out to stop her but Alex pushed her back with her powers so that she landed in front of the door. "Sorry Skye but my mind is made up." Alex stated even though right at that moment her head felt like it was about to tear apart. Her wolf had gone very still but she didn't give it or anyone else the chance to stop her as she took to the sky. Flying away from that house was the hardest thing she had ever done. She made herself vanish.
