A/N: People!
I know, I must have updated on Thursday but was a little busy with some things.
So, here it is...
(I still apologise for any change in any character description. Writing after a long time, makes me tend to forget how they would actually behave.)
IT'S CHANGED! (SNILY)
CHAPTER 49 Out of Spite
'So… I see… my girlf- Fiancée was seducing Bennet…' Shane gave her an amused smirk.
'I… Can someone concentrate on what I have gotten instead of what I did to get that?!' she hissed in annoyance. Honestly, no one was even a bit appreciative of her dedication to the Mission.
'Well… that was quite… wait! Do all Slytherins have this tendency of… seducing?' Lily narrowed her eyes, making it evident that she was referring to something else.
'Anyways-' Severus tried to bury the topic, but to no avail.
'No, no, no! We'll listen to this first,' Charm perked up, almost jumping in her seat. 'Who other than Selene seduced whom?'
Severus held her hand and pulled her down on the chair again. 'Charm, you could sit down and concentrate on matters that are more pressing, right now,' he insisted.
She ignored him. 'Come on, Lily, spill some tea…'
Lily crossed her arms on her chest and leaned back in her chair, her eyes on Severus as he blushed under her gaze and looked away. 'Well… my Slytherin boyfriend has the same tendencies…'
'What?!' they all screeched as their heads jerked in his direction, making him flinch.
'What?' he asked back, trying to dissolve in the chair… or begging the floor to part and eat him.
'What did you do?' Austin asked, winking in his direction.
'Nothing,' he answered shortly.
'Kissed Myrtle…' Lily said casually and Severus closed his eyes for the next wave of drama that was about to hit him.
All of them exaggerated a gasp, though shock was evident on their faces. 'You kissed… Myrtle…!?' they whispered, accusingly. 'And you are still with him, Lily!'
Lily sighed and sat up straighter. 'Well… what will happen to this poor Slytherin if I am not there? Huh?'
Severus shifted uncomfortably under everyone's gaze. 'Well… I wasn't making out with her… I just had to be a ghost and I needed someone… and there was Myrtle… and I didn't know what to do and so… I kissed her… she liked it… I thought she'd do what I ask her to if I kiss her… and that is what happened. But I assure you, it wasn't pleasant and I am not going back there again…' he sucked in a deep breath after saying all of that.
'Wow…' Shane blinked. 'This elevated quite soon. Now, the next thing we'd know, is that Charm had gone to seduce Dumbledore for… something…'
Charm slid a book on the table forcefully, which hit him in his ribs making him yelp. 'Better?'
'That hurt, Charm!'
'Was meant to…' she crossed her arms on her chest. 'Anyways, as disgusting as Severus and Selene are'-
'Hey!' they protested.
But she continued – 'perhaps, we need to get back to what we were doing before Shane's ugly mind cooks up some more idiocy.'
'Come on, it was a joke.'
And… everyone ignored him. 'Now, we know, where the hill is and which Horcrux we'd find there…' Austin summarised.
'We need to know, what we'd find there…' Lily rubbed her chin in thought. 'And only one person can help with that…'
'Regulus Black,' they all spoke together and nodded before Charm saw a loophole.
'The Dark Lord wouldn't tell him about anything so straightly… there must be a twist that he'd be given…'
All of their eyes met each other's and they spoke together again. 'Sirius Black.'
They sighed. 'But he has been living with James for a while now…' Austin said.
'He can still know… Regulus and he are coming closer now…' Shane told, shrugging.
'Well… we can try…' Selene nodded and stood up. 'But before that… we have a class to attend.'
They all whined and banged their heads on the backrest of the chair as they dropped them back in boredom, before standing up lazily.
*Page Break*
'Good morning, kids…' the familiar cheerful voice in the unfitting room echoed and they all looked back, watching the Headmaster of the School walking in as their substitute teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Dumbledore came to the front of the class and smiled broadly at the students. 'I hope you are all excited for another class of Defense Against the Dark Arts…' well, honestly, speaking, perhaps, since Dumbledore had started taking the classes, the classes had actually turned out to be interesting for the first time.
So, the students nodded enthusiastically, making Dumbledore spread his arms and say, 'So, please, take your wands out…' another interesting thing. Wands out and books in. What could have been better than that?
Severus was sitting uncomfortably alarmed, and he knew he'd be the same throughout the class because if Dumbledore would decide on mentioning the ghost transformation of his in the second task… he had to keep ready for an excuse… and an explanation.
Lily smirked and poked her wand in his waist making him yelp and attracting everyone's attention as all the faces were turned to him. He blushed and cleared his throat.
'A bug…' he murmured.
'I hope the bug is taken care of, Mr. Snape…?' Dumbledore raised his eyebrow as his eyes glinted with knowingness like always.
Severus nodded and bowed his head, clearing his throat awkwardly again.
'Then, kids, pay attention here, please…'
Severus turned to Lily and glared at her… while she kept trying to stifle a laugh. 'What was that for?'
She leaned on his shoulder and whispered in his ear, 'Well, I was making sure you are again a human… ghosts can't feel, you know…' her hand went to caress his thigh.
He shoved her away. 'Lily!' he warned. 'Not now!' he said in a pressed whisper.
She gave an exaggerated gasp. 'Is it that now I hold no interest to you?!'
He gave her a bored look. 'Lily… honestly?'
Lily rolled her eyes and sat back straighter. 'You are boring as hell!'
'I don't believe you have seen hell…' he countered.
She whipped her wand on his thigh, making him suppress another yelp, and fortunately attracted no attention this time. 'Shut up, now!' she said sternly.
Severus gave her a disbelieving look. It was her! Not him! But anyways… he needed to pay attention to what Dumbledore was saying.
Lily smirked… because just like that he forgot that he was worried about the ghost transformation… she could pay attention peacefully now too.
'… and so, you can trick the opponent for a while,' Dumbledore was speaking. 'But do remember, it's a part of your magic. A part of your magic will still be affected if you are attacked. Anything small wouldn't be harmful because your energies are fully capable of replenishing it… but a stronger and darker spell might cause permanent harm,' he looked at everyone from above his half-moon glasses. 'I hope you all understand…'
Everyone was looking at him intently. This was important and a totally new concept to them. They never knew that creating a duplicate of them, very close to a dummy was even possible. It can soak the curses that are fired on them in turn… but the only flaw was that it would use their magic.
'I'd demonstrate this first…' Dumbledore straightened and stepped a little farther from the students and looked at a particular student. 'Mr. Black… may I please ask for you to come up here on the dice?'
Sirius shrugged and went up, standing directly in front of their headmaster.
'Now, fire a curse on me, please…'
Sirius tilted his head, mischievously. 'Are you sure, sir? I can bring a hard one…'
Dumbledore chuckled. 'Spare this old man, Sirius… do give something that my poor bones can hold…'
Sirius smirked. Teasing the headmaster was fun, even after knowing that even his most powerful curse wouldn't be able to bring a single hair of Dumbledore to fall. 'Sure, sir…' he lifted his wand and pointed it at Dumbledore's chest.
Dumbledore stood as relaxed as ever but his fingers on his wand were firm. 'You can try up a cool non-verbal too, Mr. Black…'
Sirius blinked at the statement for a moment before his face turned determined and without any warning, a jet of blinding white light left the tip of his wand.
Everyone was as silent as they had ever been, in the anticipation of how will Dumbledore stop this with the… duplication spell. And then it happened, just when the curse was about to touch Dumbledore's chest, he waved his wand lazily and another Dumbledore stood right before the… original one? How?!
This other Dumbledore was hit by the curse but kept standing as if nothing happened.
Every student present in the class sucked in a deep breath, including Sirius as they stared at the headmaster dumbfound. The copy of Dumbledore was no different from Dumbledore himself. Anyone could confuse it for the original person. This was greater than any trick!
'Sirius, good job, now, please return to your seat…'
And the moment Sirius was back to his seat, the only question he could hear, that people kept budging him with, from every corner was, 'How did the thing look from so close?'
Sirius stared at all of them and shook his head. 'Awfully just as Dumbledore… you can't call for a difference.'
That made another set of conversational sprees begin in the class, creating the annoying buzz noise in the class to which Dumbledore had to clap his hands to silence them. He smiled. 'Now, class, don't you all wish to know the spell?'
All the attention was on Dumbledore as they nodded enthusiastically. 'The spell is "Excretus" with which one can separate a part of themselves and make a new themselves…'
And to that, the thing happened as everyone expected. Studious Severus' hand shot up in the air as his other hand scribbled something on a parchment… even when the headmaster asked to keep the books inside.
Dumbledore smiled. At least someone who didn't entirely lose himself in the enthusiasm of the moment. 'Yes, Mr. Snape?'
'Sir, you said that the duplicate of oneself is a part of their own magic…'
'Yes…'
'So, sir, wouldn't it make the original magical entity weak as their power is divided?'
Dumbledore inclined his head. 'Sure, it will, Mr. Snape… but one needs to weigh their options. Give something to take… Hmm?'
Severus blinked. How stupid that was! If it was making oneself weak then what was the point of this? Though he wasn't entirely convinced by the answer, he nodded and dipped his head to his desk again. 'Yes, sir…'
That is when the duplicate of Dumbledore vanished away in thin air making the class gasp. 'Now, now, kids, another thing to keep in mind… as it is your own magic when it will begin to feel that you no longer need it or you no longer can supply it with any more energy, it will vanish away.'
'Will we get the energy back, sir?' Remus asked with his hand in the air.
'That question doesn't have a clear cut yes or no because as you would have used some of your energy, it will not come back, but the one which still can be retained and remain unused sure will confide as your own magical core…'
'Does it drain us, sir?' Austin asked, rubbing his chin and his eyes narrowed as he tried to see the vanished form of Dumbledore.
Dumbledore laughed. 'My children are curious, aren't they? Yes, it will drain us… and therefore one must know how much magic to add… like any other powerful spell, this spell requires control over your magic.
'Now, stand up, kids…' and as everyone did, he waved his wand and the benches got arranged in the corner of the room leaving space for them to spread out now. 'Now, choose your partners… as we will practice this… let me demonstrate this once more, though.
'Imagine your core, your magic, yourself. There is no doubt that everyone is capable of that… you find it sooner or later. Not too much force, but feel it dividing from you and then as always channelling it through your wand… feel it as a separate entity,' Dumbledore waved his wand in an inverted U, speaking, 'Excretus,' and another Dumbledore appeared once more. 'Get it, kids?'
The students nodded and faced their partners for the spell. When… Severus was measuring the length of his wand before holding it with the correct firmness in front of himself. Lily rolled her eyes at that and snaked her arm on his waist, pulling him to herself, making their chests bang.
He gasped as his fingers held onto her shoulders to stabilize himself. 'What are you doing?' he whispered as red crept on his neck.
'What do you think?' Lily's voice was raspy, her eyes meeting his before she closed them and met his lips softly.
Severus didn't wish to, but it didn't ever take long for him to dissolve in her enchantment. And… before he could catch himself, he moaned. His eyes widened and he pulled back as his face turned redder.
Someone cleared their throat and they saw Dumbledore with his eyebrows raised. 'We have to duplicate, Miss Evans and Mr. Snape, not multiply…'
Nobody would ever know how Gryffindors didn't feel embarrassed, because Lily just smiled and shrugged at the headmaster and parted from a very humiliated Severus.
The class was chuckling and commenting over his… moaning and Severus didn't possess the courage to look up and meet their eyes. He decided that from any other class he'd sit the farthest from Lily. She was such a mischief! 'I am never talking to you again…' he muttered under his breath so that only she can hear.
'Don't make promises that can never meet, Sev…' Lily replied back with an overly-saccharine voice which held false innocence.
'You do this all on purpose, don't you?' He said ignoring her.
She gasped. 'Why would I?! Isn't that illegal?'
'I hate you!'
'Oh, Sev…' Lily said pitifully. 'I know, snakes lie, but you can speak the truth once in a while… you know?'
Severus didn't answer but kept staring at his wand before they heard Dumbledore speaking again.
'Focus on your work, kids. I have full faith that all of my capable students will be able to perform the spell with full efficiency. Though, going at your own pace is just fine…'
Severus stepped a little farther from Lily and held his chin high… thankfully everyone had gone back to their own work. He raised his wand and took a deep breath. He could feel his magic. All around himself. Spinning around him like a tornado that he could feel on his skin.
It was something he hadn't ever felt … or he had? Perhaps, he just didn't remember. Yes! This is how the accidental magic felt like! He grimaced. His encounters with his accidental magic weren't ever pleasant… so, he better didn't think about any of those.
He concentrated on the feeling again. Feeling it get focused on the arm, in which he was holding his wand. His hand felt like someone was pressing it from all sides. It was going numb and his breath began raging.
He forced the feeling to leave his arm and he waved his wand in an inverted U, whispering, 'Excretus.'
The tip of his wand blasted in front of him, making him bring his free hand to cover his face as he flinched back. He carefully opened his eyes and… found Severus standing in front of him. His own self! He had made the duplicate!
The face, the body, the way he stood in… everything was his own. He raised his hand to call the headmaster.
'Ah… yes, Mr. Snape! You also made it…!' Dumbledore came closer, looked at the duplicate and patted Severus' back. 'On first try. I have to say that was impressive.'
Severus smiled in an attempt of hiding the red that had streaked his cheeks. 'Thank you, headmaster.'
Dumbledore returned it and went to where ever some other student called him.
'Hah! After eleven people…' Lily said, spinning her wand in her fingers smugly.
Severus turned to her frowning. 'Huh?'
Lily rolled her eyes. 'Well… eleven people had already accomplished that before you… including me.'
He looked around, seeing people seeming relaxed and smug at the same time. So, he was the… twelfth to do that. Well, at least he did it… because Charm was seeming on the verge of breaking her wand because she couldn't do it.
'At least, I did it…' he dismissed Lily's words.
She shrugged. 'Well, yes, better late than never…'
'What do you mean?' he turned to her and narrowed his eyes in suspicion. That statement did have a hidden meaning.
She shrugged again. 'Well… you know what you know.'
Severus' frown deepened and he was about to say something when the bell rang. He eyed her for the last time before getting his bag up and rushing out.
Lily rolled her eyes and kept a hand on his shoulder, pausing him. 'Honestly, Severus, now, I know, why is Remus so in love with Sirius…'
Severus glared at her. 'Now, what does that mean?'
Lily rose to her toes, getting her lips closer to his ears. (Severus could feel her breath on his ear, on his skin, but he stood determined to not give up to her tricks again.) 'You both have this in common – good at dramas…'
*Page Break*
Charm groaned. Her head was about to burst open! So many people were able to get the spell correct, but she couldn't! Yet!
And the bell had to ring so soon too! Couldn't it be a little late, for her to get the spell correct in this class?! She threw her wand into her robes and pulled her backpack on her shoulder and rushed out, before noticing the very similar mop of black wavy hair.
Her eyes lit up.
Sirius Black.
If not the spell, then the information. Good. At least one could get accomplishment in something they are good at.
She ran closer to him and called, 'Black! Black!'
Sirius looked back from Peter, to whom he was talking. He gave a confused little smile. 'Yes? Charm? Don't tell me Amedee doesn't interest you know…'
Charm could have had his head on that statement by the irritation she felt but instead, she smiled. A very… fake one. She laced her arm with Sirius', making him eye her with amusement and pulled him out of the classroom.
'Now, I couldn't have been that good at guessing. You are cheating on Amedee… with me, Lynx?'
Charm looked around to make sure no one was coming before glaring at him and swatting his arm with her fingers that stung like hell.
'AA!' he nursed his arm, getting away from her and then looking up with annoyance. 'What is the thing you pulled me here for?'
Charm smirked. 'Now, we get to the point…'
'So, what is it?!'
'Shush! Keep your voice down, we can't afford anyone listening.'
Sirius huffed and leaned on the wall of the corridor, where they predicted no one would come at this hour of the day. 'Okay…'
'So… I kind of need you to tell me something,' she began.
'Precisely, you need my help…' Sirius loved to use that word with any Slytherin he knew. The pissed-off face of theirs never failed to entertain him.
'Black!' Charm began roaring but then closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This would take her nowhere. She must remember that dealing with Sirius Black was a hefty task. 'You have left your home, haven't you?'
Sirius' eyes hardened. That was the only topic that can make him actually fall into a serious stance. 'Yes.'
She gave a curt nod. 'How much do you still know about that place?'
Sirius sneered at nothingness, imagining his parents. 'Much. Much more than what they can afford me knowing.'
Charm hid a smile. She needed that. 'Did you recently see someone behaving suspiciously?'
Sirius gave a comptemptful small laugh. 'How suspicious? They behave like that normally.'
And that told Charm that Sirius was going to be even more difficult than she had initially thought. And one would never know how Remus put up with him. 'Out of ordinary… Sirius…'
Sirius scoffed. 'They aren't even a single bit ordinary. If you stay with them, you see something irregular every day.'
Charm took a deep breath to shake off her annoyance with his answers. She didn't possess that patience. 'Something that you haven't yet seen… something they were trying to hide?'
'They always did that-'
'SIRIUS! YOUR GRUDGES CAN WAIT!'
Sirius shrunk back down, holding a hand on his chest for dear life. 'Volume down… perhaps…' he added noticing her ragged breath and widened eyes. Merlin, she was frightening.
Charm turned back for a second before turning to him again. 'Now, tell me, something, that you might have noticed was tried to be hidden by you,' she spoke as if nothing ever happened.
Sirius nodded meekly. 'Okay. But no, nothing has been hidden by me, as for now.'
'Nothing? At all?' Charm's voice deflated with disappointment.
'No… I don't believe so…' Sirius shrugged. 'Why? Have you known something?'
She shook her head. 'No… nothing… you may go… and don't tell anyone that we talked about this.'
He shrugged again and began walking. 'Okay.'
That is when something struck her. No out-of-ordinary behaviour from the parents. Nothing from Regulus. But they weren't the only people living. There was more. She looked up with her eyes wide. 'Black! Wait!'
Sirius turned back. 'I told you. Nothing seemed the way you seek…'
'No, no. Listen and clarify this first. You said you didn't see anything suspicious in your parents, didn't you?'
'Yes.'
'In Regulus?'
'No, nothing suspicious. And he is anyways with the Light now…'
'Okay, no Regulus. Neither are your parents. But you lived in a pureblood wealthy household. There would be more than that…'
'What?'
'You have house elves! Think of them!'
'Oh… wow… yes…' and his eyes widened. 'Yes! Kreacher! He did seem quite clingy to Regulus… but then, he always was…'
'Wait, what? Clingy to Regulus? Your house-elf?' Charm frowned.
'Yes… even though, I hate every inch of him, no idea why Regulus favour him with everything…'
'Kreacher…' Charm muttered under her breath. 'I see…'
*Page Break*
She waited. And waited. And waited even more! How long did Regulus take in a bathroom?! She had been waiting without a word for so long but now, her patience was washing away. Both of the brothers were alike – annoying as fucking hell! – but still managed to be that in different senses.
She got up from his bed and banged a fist on his door. 'Regulus! What have you been doing inside for so long?!'
A muffled noise from inside met her ears before she heard Regulus clearing his throat. 'What are you doing here, Charm?'
'I will only be able to tell if you come out! And I want it to be soon!' she demanded.
'Ah… you can leave. I will meet you down in the Great Hall… the dinner is anyways going to start.'
'When I say, now, I mean, now, Regulus!'
'… okay… just turn your back on the bathroom door… please…'
'What are you even doing inside?! Jerking off? Come on, Regulus, you have got nothing, I haven't seen before…'
'Charm! Please!'
She rolled her eyes. 'Okay…' she said and turned her back, before hearing the creak of the door.
'Don't look back.'
'I am not,' and she wasn't but she felt him not going near the cupboard to get clothes, but to the exit door of the dormitory, so, she turned there, 'What-? The French girl!'
Regulus had his hand on his girlfriend's back… while Lea was trying to escape the room quietly. Regulus stumbled on the hem of his own robes but pretended it never happened when Charm had called him. Lea and Regulus both flushed red. Caught by Charm wasn't something, anyone would fancy.
'So… you both were there… inside, doing what exactly?' Charm prodded.
'What do you think, Charm!?' he answered in exasperation.
Charm raised an eyebrow. 'Right,' she turned to Lea, who seemed as stress-free as ever. 'Honestly, don't you have second thoughts about Regulus?'
'Hey!' Regulus protested but got easily ignored.
Lea rolled her eyes. ''Onestly, Charm, I don't bother…'
Charm bent her lips, impressed. 'That was a good one, Lea… anyways, you'll have to leave your lovely boyfriend for now, because I have a few things to discuss with him…'
Lea shrugged. 'Zure,' and left.
Regulus huffed and walked to Charm, grabbing her forearm. 'Why are you here?'
Charm patted his head, even though, he was taller than her. If one disregards his height, he looked way younger than he actually was. 'I have to ask you something.'
'What?' he growled.
'Don't be short with me.'
'Okay… now, what is it?'
'I need to know about Kreacher.'
Regulus left her arm as his face went pale, draining all the blood. 'Kreacher? How do you know about him?'
She could have answered but his reaction to a house elf's name shocked her. 'What is so surprising with this? Kreach-?'
Regulus cupped one of his palms on Charm's mouth to shut her up. 'You can't say that name! Never ever must that word escape your mouth!'
Charm blinked in confusion before taking his hand off her mouth. 'Why not?'
She in her most honest confession didn't have a single idea as to why did that make Regulus' lips shake with fright. He looked down at his shoes and whispered, 'They'd kill him, kill me, everyone…'
He was making absolutely no sense. Charm kept her hands on his shoulders, making him look at her. 'Reg, shush… will you tell me what is it? Why would they kill you? And who are they?'
He shook his head. 'You can't know.'
'Regulus… this is important. You are aware. We are trying to bring the Dark Lord down… please, tell me,' she insisted.
'But what if they kill him, kill us all… I don't want that. Better secrets remain secrets.'
Charm wished to throttle him. Why couldn't the Black brothers just answer without denying to do so for a thousand times?! But still, she spoke softly, 'Reg, your secret is safe with us, and you know that. But also, it will work as information for us to bring him down.'
Regulus nodded and dropped on his bed. Charm took a seat beside him. 'He still thinks I am loyal to him.'
'The Dark Lord?'
'Yes… he was up for something. Something no one knows about. Not even Lucius or Bellatrix.'
'But you do…'
Regulus gave a small nod. 'Not entirely. He just asked me for help. I don't know why, because he already has too many house elves serving him like slaves…'
Charm frowned incredulously. 'He asked you for a house-elf?'
He smiled sadly. 'He asked for my Kreacher. He knew he is loyal. He'd do anything for me. And he did. But I was such a fool! Such a fool to send my friend to him!' He dipped his head and clutched his hair in his fingers, breathing heavily.
That shocked Charm but she didn't let her composure slip. 'Umm… Regulus. What did he do with Kre- umm… your house-elf?'
Regulus looked up, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. 'He took him. Left him to die,' he said bitterly.
'Left him to die? But he is still alive?'
He nodded, smugly. 'He is. And he told me everything. Fuck you, Dark Lord! Lick your own arse, because, I know everything!'
Charm blinked again. Did he have bouts of mood swings? 'He can lick his arse later… but for now, can you tell me what do you know?'
He turned to her and took a deep breath before nodding. 'The Dark Lord called me one day and I went to him. He told me how loyal I am to him,' he scoffed. 'Poor nugget.'
'Regulus! Curse him later! On the point now!'
'Yes, yes… so, he requested me to get him my most loyal house-elf. I looked at him with disbelief, pure confusion, because I didn't understand why would he ask me for a house-elf. He said, that he just trusts me with this work. We aren't allowed to question, so, I didn't.'
'Understandable.'
'Because he had requested for one, I took my most loyal house-elf to him, my friend to him. Kreacher.'
'I see… and Kreacher agreed without any nuisance?'
Regulus laughed scornfully. 'I can ask for his head and he wouldn't hesitate for a second.'
They had already heard about Kreacher and he seemed quite different from any other house-elf. House elves were always loyal but they got scared at the name of punishment, while it seemed like Kreacher took every aversed order from Regulus as a sacrifice for love. And then Regulus even called him, his friend, and not a servant.
'So… what did You-Know-Who do to him then?'
Regulus eyes blazed red as he grabbed the sheets of his bed. 'He left him to die.'
'But… you said…' Charm was thoroughly confused.
Regulus nodded, making a few tears escape his eyelashes and roll on his cheeks. 'He left Kreacher to die, but forgot that House elf magic exceeds that of any wizard. Kreacher came back…'
'And?'
'And told me everything.'
Charm straightened. Here it came. The thing she was here for. 'Told you what?'
'The motherfucking savage took Kreacher somewhere.'
'Where?'
Regulus took a shaky breath. 'Kreacher,' he called, and just as the word left his mouth a creature had popped in the room.
Charm sat surprised. She didn't expect him to call his house elf. 'That wasn't required, Regulus…'
'Master Regulus called Kreacher,' Kreacher bowed to Regulus, though, his eyes stayed fixed on Regulus' teary ones. He was worried about his master. Why was he sad?
Regulus smiled and nodded. 'Can you please tell Charm what you saw at when… I am sorry, Kreacher… but when the Dark Lord took you with himself? Hmm? For me?'
Kreacher's already pale and withered face paled further but he still stood determined. 'Kreacher will do anything for Master Regulus…'
'I am extremely sorry asking this of you, Kreacher but this is important. Describe what you saw.'
'Kreacher will, Master Regulus, Kreacher will,' the small and old house elf turned to Charm and smiled in the slightest. 'The Dark Lord took Kreacher to a cave…'
Charm tried to keep in a gasp.
'… The night was dark and inside the cave was darker. There was water and it was black. Kreacher was scared but he is a good house elf, so, Kreacher did everything the Dark Lord asked him to do. The Dark Lord took Kreacher in a boat and then the boat stops and then comes the island.'
'The island…?' Charm frowned.
Kreacher nodded. 'Yes, Miss, it was an island. And on the island was a stone basin. The Dark Lord ordered Kreacher to drink-'
Kreacher stopped saying as they heard Regulus' whimper, his face buried in his hands. 'Master Regulus…' he said in concern.
Regulus waved a hand. 'Continue, Kreacher…'
Kreacher nodded and turned to Charm again. 'Kreacher drank, and as he drank, he saw terrible things… Kreacher's insides burned… Kreacher cried for Master Regulus to save him, he cried for his Mistress Black, but the Dark Lord only laughed… He made Kreacher drink all the potion… He dropped a locket into the empty basin… he filled it with more potion. And then the Dark Lord sailed away, leaving Kreacher on the island…'
Regulus couldn't contain himself now. He hugged Kreacher to any length. 'I am sorry, Kreacher, I am so sorry… I never knew he would have done so much… I am sorry…'
'Master Regulus…' Kreacher squeaked and Regulus pulled back. 'Master Regulus mustn't be sorry. Kreacher is alright.'
Regulus nodded. 'Yes, and I am happy for that, Kreacher, so, happy.'
Charm cleared her throat and both Kreacher and Regulus looked at her. 'The locket? What locket was it?'
Kreacher's ears dropped as he shook his head. 'I apologize, Miss. Kreacher was in pain, he couldn't remember so well.'
Charm nodded and smiled at them. 'It's fine. What you told did help me a lot. Thank you, Kreacher.'
Kreacher's ears perked up at that and he grinned from ear to ear. 'Kreacher is glad he was of help.'
'Umm… Charm?' Regulus said, shifting uncomfortably.
'Yes?'
'I believe you. I trust you. But I still have to ask you to not open this to the wrong hands.'
'Ah…' Charm patted his back. 'Rest assured. I am up with every shield. Nothing will fall out in the wrong hands.'
Regulus smiled. 'I believe you.'
A/N: Hope you enjoyed it.
