Project Lupa Assassins vs the Pack chronicles CHAPTER 17

The meeting was going good, Victoria's pack had been keeping an eye out for assassins that could lead to Marcel but so far no leads, Blake's pack had completed a mission that Nick had sent them on successfully and because of that their egos were enlarged to the point that they saw themselves above the others. They had been keeping things civil and lite up until one of Blake's wolves made a comment about Alex and Skye. It was a backhand comment on how Maria could now keep a leash on her killers. Implying that Maria could not control her pack, that this was her fault how they were now all on trying to locate Marcel and his assassins. Her pack were not happy, she herself was not happy but made no comment on it other than stopping her wolves from growling. She knew Blake was not happy with the fact that her pack and Coulson's pack became one big pack that because of its size and powerful members in it he would need to prove himself more to Nick.

"She's building a powerhouse." Fredrick pointed out starting an argument over powered individuals. Maria was annoyed, Blake was bringing this up now? He was saying that Coulson should take his pack back so that there would be four packs again instead of three. The way he worded it though was like he was questioning her leadership…telling her how she had nothing to fear because she had four avengers on her team two of which were assassins not to mention how she had two other assassin at her beck and call but it was Fredricks comment on how Skye and Alex were like mindless pups that grated on her. She clenched her fist and stopped herself from growling by now everyone was arguing some of Blake's wolves who were specialists were trying to get some of her wolves to fight Victoria's wolves had even started in on the argument although her pack was divided some were arguing with Blake's wolves and some were arguing with hers.

POP! Made everyone stop and stare both Alex and Skye had stood up one of their hands were outstretched it took Maria a second to realise that they had used their powers to make the popping sound to stop everyone from arguing. Both of their eyes were glowing and she could feel their power although something was a bit different this time, it took her a minute to realise the way they were standing…they were protecting her.

'They can feel your emotions.' Natasha told her over the link, this was true most of her wolves could sense her emotions (especially in wolf form) but since Skye and Alex were bitten they were aware of her feelings and what they could do to help her or if she wanted something they would know and do it.

"We were told not to fight." Skye stated

"We are not meant to fight." Alex added

"You are all acting like children." Skye started

"You should all act like the agents you are meant to be." Alex finished Maria had to hide her smile, this is what she had been thinking, the acting childish part.

"I do not take orders from you pup." Blake stated rising from his chair both Alex and Skye looked at him, Maria noticed they were doing their synced thing again as their power once again started to grow sensing the possible need to defend.

"You do not take orders from them but you do from me. So can someone please tell me what the hell is going on in here and where exactly have my agents gone?" Nick stated entering the room everyone freezing and looking down in apology. Maria looked over at Nick who was looking at Skye and Alex with a look Maria did not like. She touched Skye and Alex on their arms and they sat down returning to normal. Nick ended up berating them like children before sending them off not before making sure that Blake, Victoria and Maria all apologised to each other and would be able to work with each other in the future. Before Maria could take her pack home Nick ordered a full lab work on both Alex and Skye the two shared a look with each other but could not fight the order. May, Bobbie, Sharon and Natasha went with them seeming Maria got pulled into a meeting with Nick. Nick had a mission and was wanting her pack to deal with it. She went with Natasha, Clint, Bobbie, Skye, Alex, Trip, May and Sharon taking Fitz with them as they needed an engineer. Coulson was running it from the bus with the rest of her pack this was their first nonofficial mission since the latest members of the pack joined (Wanda, Pietro, Skye, and Alex).

Maria felt bad, she was still replaying their last mission in her head, it was a success but it was still bothering her how both Skye and Alex took down the mercenaries without hesitation or mercy it was the look in their eyes that was still haunting her. They looked to her after waiting for her next order, it wasn't until they were back on the bus heading home did they seem to return to their senses partly due to their mates being with them although neither of them showed or felt any remorse for what they had done.

"You okay?" Natasha asked entering her office back at their new house.

"Do you remember what Alex said after her transition? How we were no different to him."

"Hey…" Natasha began to protest but Maria stopped her

"I told them to take care of it, they did. Nat their eyes…" she couldn't bring herself to say anymore, their eyes were vacant, she missed the spark she used to see in their eyes.

"I know, I saw."

"Every time I enter the room, they look at me waiting for an order." Maria looked down rubbing her head with her fingers. "How is this different?" she asked

"They were protecting the pack, because of them we got the codes back and everyone made it out safe." Natasha stated it was a difficult mission and their intelligence on the op was wrong if it hadn't been for Skye and Alex they would have been overrun and outgunned.

"I know that its just…"

"Maria, everything will work out, trust them they're good and besides each day we see small parts of Skye return." Natasha stated rubbing Maria's shoulders she leaned over and kissed her head. She couldn't really talk for Alex as she didn't know her that well but she was acting more civil around the others. Actually participating, then again that could be because when she is asked to join she can't refuse she just hopes she is wanting to do it too.

"Skye is returning to the bus." Maria stated after a minute of silence.

"Alex is now my rookie." Natasha stated the paperwork had been filed and submitted she was an asset now and Natasha had taken her on so she would be joining her team. As Maria's mate and beta of the pack Natasha's word was second to Maria's Alex had been following it like law although she would admit she had been seeing small sparks of dry humour from the girl during training. They had lost all their leads on the assassins on Marcel and it had been quiet so they had to get back to work, Coulson was heading out on the bus with his team, Natasha and Clint would be heading back to New York and the Avengers taking Alex with them and Maria would be stationed on the carrier. The rest of her pack had their own missions to get back to, she did not know when the next time they would all be together after all this was the life of a SHIELD agent.
