Sorry for the long wait, but the university projects took a lot of time.
The issue of Shirou's inner dialogue with Azathoth is an important part BECAUSE it helps in the base building of the characters and the plot.
Without it, the story will be hard to understand.
Now to answer some question asked:
Raynare's new master: will be in this chapter.
For Mittelt and the other Fallens: Can't answer, it will spoil the story. 😅
Where those bodies that Raynare used came from: She hunted them. (Already have plans for Mittelt and the two others)
Dunno if I answered everything, but anyways... enjoy!
Chapter 4: Light over the shadows
Shirou woke and tried to move, but felt heavy.
'What's going on?' he wondered.
Look beneath the blanket…
Shirou lifted the blanket, but got it down immediately.
'Please, make that it's not real.' Shirou was red as he lifted the blanket again.
Sei was sleeping above him, and she was naked.
"This is going to become a problem." Shirou mumbled.
On the good side… things seem to be evolving positively with the princess…
'She should be happy that I stopped.' Shirou was clearly unhappy with what happened to his sister.
You wanted your sister to grow with a normal life…
'Now I feel like I failed as a big brother.' Shirou sighed as he moved out of his bed, leaving his sister to be asleep 'Why didn't you stopped her?'
If I did… fate would have been unkind to the princess…
'What do you mean?'
As I have said… I have seen the future of this world… every event that will happen… for every person… Which is why I allowed it to happen… besides… this would allow your sister to live longer…
'But what would happen to her if she dies!' Shirou snapped.
Every being that dies goes to the unending void…
'Really?'
The illusion of life after death depends more of the lesser deities of the world… since humans beings are destined to die after living…
Shirou sighed depressingly 'No life after death, huh?'
Have no fear… when my powers get strong enough… I shall bestow a longer life to you… and to those who are dear to you…
Shirou sighed again before preparing himself.
Aoki awoke and opened the curtains of her room.
"Looks like I need to pick up the pace." she sighed before taking her phone and dialing a number.
"Took you long enough to answer, old man." Aoki said after a moment "What's the big deal? Aren't you supposed to be my legal guardian or something?"
"Sorry about that." the voice sounded like a man in his late thirties "I was a bit occupied with something."
"You're nothing but a perverted old man!" Aoki yelled.
"I know that." Aoki could feel the smug "But enough about me, what about you?"
"I did as you asked." the girl replied "But to not harm her…"
"Is she harmed?" the man asked.
"No, I just scared her."
"I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be a problem since you didn't harmed her." the man replied "What about the targets?"
"Shirou isn't a holder of a Sacred Gear." Aoki explained "But, there's something inside him… and it's scary."
"What about the girl?" the man asked.
"It would seem that Sei is a holder of a Sacred Gear." Aoki answered.
"And you let her take the girl in, right?"
"Even if it was you who asked me, I felt like I betrayed them." Aoki stated before hearing a chuckle "It's not funny!"
"Fallen for the boy, eh?"
Aoki blushed madly before yelling "Mind your own business!" she then hung up.
'I need to stop being like that!' she headed to prepare herself 'I'm a shinobi, and I have a mission to do.' she then looked at her reflection in the mirror 'Come now, it's true that Shirou can be very helpful, cares for those that are close to him, can cook, has a decent work, can do house work… but still…'
She sighed before shaking her head "I'm only doing my job."
"We're going!" Sei yelled as she exited the house with Shirou.
"You really need to stop doing that." Shirou sighed as he closed the door behind them.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Sei smiled as she replied.
"Look, if you promise me to be a good girl, I prepare you something for tonight's dinner." Shirou said.
"The only thing that I want is you, Oni-chan." Sei replied.
"I feel like I'm talking to a wall." Shirou stated with a deadpan look.
"No matter what, you two will never change." Aoki stated as she got to their house.
"Morning, Aoki-chan!" Sei greeted.
"Good morning…" Shirou sounded exhausted.
"I heard that you joined the Occult Research Club, is that true?" Aoki asked.
"Not by choice…" Shirou stated under his breath.
"Yup." Sei replied.
"I heard that it's a very selective one, how did you do it?" Aoki asked.
"We were invited." Sei answered "The awesomeness of oni-chan is to thank for that."
"Seriously?" Shirou sweatdropped as he looked at Sei.
"Everyone know how cool you are." Sei said as she winked at her brother.
"I guess that you are going to pass more time with them." Aoki said.
"I don't think so." Shirou replied "I still have to go to work."
"Come on, oni-chan, I'm sure that will be fun." Sei said with a grin.
"Sei, do you know how much money we need?" Shirou asked with an annoyed expression.
"I'm sure that Rias-senpai can help us if we ask her." Sei pointed.
"I'd never ask someone like her for something." Shirou replied harshly.
"I didn't thought that you'd be like that." Aoki stated.
"I have my reasons." Shirou sighed.
You could benefit from that…
'After what she did, I don't think so.' Shirou was still mad that Rias turned his sister into a Devil without her consent.
There are fates that are worse than death… and if you do not decide to forgive the princess… something bad may happen to your sister…
'What do you mean by that?'
Your sister in now bound to the fate of the princess… and if you do not decide to help the princess… her fate will be dark… and the same will happen to your sister…
'Sometimes, I wonder if you're on my side.' Shirou sighed.
All of this is for your own good…
'That's hard to believe' Shirou replied.
In time… you shall understand…
Shirou simply sighed at that.
Rias stood by the window of the old building that she's using as headquarters for her club. She knew that she had to make things right with Shirou. Having someone as strong as Azathoth on her side would prove to be the best thing that could happen to her, especially to help her with her family problems.
"Shirou hyoudou…" Rias said with a sigh.
"Oh my." Akeno walked to her "Already fallen for our aggressor?"
"We both know why he reacted that way" Rias stated.
"I guess that you still want to get him in your Peerage." Akeno said with a smile.
"That's impossible." Rias replied "Even if I train myself and become stronger than my brother, it would still be impossible for me to get him in my Peerage."
"Normally, you don't give up easily." Akeno pointed.
Rias sighed before saying "Akeno, this is Azathoth that we're talking about." she looked at her before adding "Even with the combine powers of all the Devils, we wouldn't get near a fraction of his powers."
Akeno giggled before asking "How are you going to make it possible?"
"Honestly, I don't know." Rias looked outside before adding "But I will admit this; I should have asked Sei before turning her into a Devil."
"Let's begin with an apology." Akeno said with a smile "Then, we can discuss how to make it up for them."
"You're right, of course." Rias replied "But I think that I should head to their home for that."
"Oh my! I didn`t knew that you with to meet his mother already." Akeno stated.
"Wha- it's just because Shirou doesn't have the time to come here! And you know that he works, right?" Rias said as she was blushing.
"I just wanted to see that reaction from you." Akeno giggled, causing Rias' blush to intensify "I guess that you want to be called Rias Hyoudou, am I right?"
"Stop it!"
During lunch break, Aoki sat with Sei and Shirou under a tree as they were eating their lunch.
"Oni-chan is such a good cook…" Sei said as she ate her first bite "I feel like I'm melting…"
"Sei." Shirou called with a sweatdrop "That's just rice."
"Not just rice!" Sei stood up as she held her bento box up "This is divine rice made by divine hands"
Shirou almost choke as he heard 'Divine hands'.
Aoki chuckled before saying "I do have to agree, your cooking is really good."
"Don't encourage her." Shirou sighed as he took a bite from his lunch.
I do have to admit… I did not thought that your cooking skills would be the same… interesting…
'Not you too.' Shirou groaned internally.
Shirou sighed before noticing Koneko looking at them. Or rather, their food.
"Not strange at all…" Shirou mumbled with a sweatdrop.
"Huh?" Sei followed the gaze of Shirou "It's Koneko-chan!"
Aoki looked at her as the white haired girl was looking back at her, Koneko's eyes widen as she ran away.
"Where did she go?" Shirou asked with confusion.
"Dunno." Sei answered before taking another bite from her lunch and moaning.
'Do you think that it's a bad sign?' Shirou pondered the question.
You have nothing to fear… the future does not show something to be worried about…
'If you say so.' Shirou sighed before continuing his lunch.
After lunch, Aoki went to her classroom while Shirou and Sei headed to their classroom.
"Hyoudou-san." Tsubaki called as she approached Shirou "Do you have a moment? Sona-Kaichou wants to talk to you about something."
The siblings looked between themselves before that Shirou said "Is there a problem?"
"Well, it won't be long." Tsubaki assured before walking toward the Student Council room.
"I guess that I should be going." Shirou followed the vice president.
When they entered, Shirou saw Sona working on some papers while the other members of the council were organizing papers and books.
"Thank you for coming, Hyoudou-san." Sona said with a straight and emotionless face "I won't take much of your time."
"Is there something that I can help you with?" Shirou asked.
"Well, I wanted to talk to you about some things concerning the supernatural world." Sona replied as she noticed Shirou's expression as he was looking at the other members of the Student Council "Don't worry, they are Devils of my Peerage."
"Like what?" Shirou asked with confusion.
"Firstly, my real name isn't Sona Shitori, but it's Sona Sitri." Sona said before adding "I'm one of the two pure blooded Devils that are in charge of keeping an eye on this city."
"And?"
"For us to reach this point, a lot of sacrifices were made. And, the number of Devil decreased dramatically." Sona explained "I do understand that you wished to never having to deal with all of this, but the fact that your sister had a Sacred Gear made it impossible. I spoke with some people and they accepted to compensate you by offering you something."
Shirou sighed before saying "I'll be blunt here; I don't care if you wish to give me immortality, even if Azathoth said that he'd give it to me, all I ever wanted was to have a normal life with my family. No Devil, no Fallen Angel, no great power…"
"I do understand your feelings, Hyoudou-san, I do." Sona said before adding "However, you must understand that the Peerage system isn't seen the same for everyone."
"What do you mean by that?" Shirou raised an eyebrow.
"Both the Sitri and the Gremory family use it to get more family members." Sona stated "While its main focus is to keep newly turned Devils in line, we use it to have close friends. Of course, if a turned, or reincarnated, Devil abandons his master they will become a Stray; a monster with lust for blood and madness. You should know that Strays are hunted to keep humans safe."
Shirou narrowed his eyes as he said "Is this a threat toward Sei…"
Sona took a deep breath before saying "No, but an advice. Rias may have done something bad in human's terms, she's still Sei's master."
"Sei doesn't have something like that…" Shirou mumbled with a low and dangerous voice "Sei is free to do whatever she wants to do."
"I'm not the one who came with that system." Sona said before taking a book from one of the drawer "You may need to read this to understand."
[He does not need such a thing…] Azathoth's voice put everyone on edge as they stopped their activities and began looking at Shirou [I can provide him with all the knowledge that he would need…]
"Then you can explain how things are." Sona said while looking at the runes.
[Have you ever felt what true madness is…?] Sona tensed at the question [You Devils are all the same… and that is what I find amusing about you…]
A blond boy took a step forward and said "You have no right to speak with Sona-kaichou like that!"
Two tentacles emerged from the ground and immobilized the boy before that a third one with spikes on it emerged.
[Now… Should I behead you…? Plug your eyes out…? Cut off that tongue of yours…? Rip out your heart…? So many choices to punish such disrespect toward myself…] even in that situation, Azathoth's tone wasn't one of anger, but the same calm one that he usually use, which put the boy on a fearful state [Or maybe throwing you in the deepest part of madness…]
"Please, forgive him." Sona said as she bowed her head "I know that he disrespected you. But, please, don't hurt him."
[I shall do it on one condition…]
Sona tensed more as she asked "What is it?"
[When the time will come… you shall accept a number of souls… the numbers will not be set… but that does not mean that the number will be a great one…]
"What do you mean by that?" Sona a bit confused by the request of Azathoth.
[In time… you shall understand…] Sona could only nod at that point. [I believe that it is time for my host to grab his belonging since the teacher is absent…]
"Of course." Sona said before seeing that the blond boy was freed from the tentacles.
"Sorry about that." Shirou said with a sweatdrop.
"It's alright." Sona replied.
"So… is there something else that you wish to talk to me about?" Shirou asked.
"I only have one thing that needs to be pointed out." Sona said "You really need to help your sister score better."
After that Shirou left, Tsubaki approached Sona "I think that you should have told him about Rias and the problem that might come to her."
"That would have changed nothing." Sona replied "Not even his immortality can save him from the sheer madness that might result from a direct confrontation against an Old God." she then turned to the blond boy "How are you feeling, Saji?"
"Well, it was like staring at death itself." the blond boy, Saji, replied.
"We need to keep an eye on Hyoudou Shirou." Sona said before taking her phone.
Shirou went to the classroom and noticed that only few people were in the classroom.
"Oni-chan! The teacher won't come!" Sei said with a happy expression.
"Of course that you'd be happy about that." Shirou pointed out with an annoyed expression.
"What does that mean?" Sei asked with a pout.
"That you're not serious about your studies." Shirou added.
Sei looked away before saying "You're too strict, oni-chan."
"This is for your own good." Shirou added before taking his bag "Anyways, I'm heading to work."
Later at night, as Shirou was walking back from work, he felt something approaching before being tackled by something. When he looked at what his aggressor his eyes went wide as he recognized the black hair.
"I've been looking for you, Master!" it was Raynare.
"Wha-what's going on?" Shirou didn't knew what he should do now.
It seems that her rebirth is done…
'W-What are you talking about?!' Shirou asked as he looked away from her breasts.
Instead of getting rid of her… I decided to prepare her… her usefulness will be crucial in one of the coming ordeals…
'Couldn't you have talked to me first?!'
You would have rejected the proposition…
'For good reasons!' Shirou sighed 'She killed me and tried to kill Sei.'
That woman is dead… Right now… she is only a puppet that I can control as I see fit…
Shirou looked at the Fallen Angel with pity before groaning 'Fine, but she needs to have some decent cloths.'
That is not a problem…
After a second, Raynare got up and some sort of dark energy covered her and turned into a black shirt and black pants.
You can give her any order you wish… she will not say no…
Shirou looked uncomfortably at Raynare before saying "Look, there's some things that needs to be put down before anything else."
Raynare simply nodded her head with a smile.
"Firstly, you'll use the fake name you had." Shirou said as he didn't knew how to exactly react to this.
"As you say, Master!" Raynare replied with an enthusiastic voice.
"That's the second point." Shirou continued "Don't call me Master in public, you must call me by my name."
"As you say, Master!" Raynare repeated with the same tone in her voice.
'I really don't know how I should feel about this.' Shirou pointed as he felt a bit awkward.
You should focus on your training… There is no telling when one of those that wishes to kill me would appear and target you…
'I'm also worried about something else…' Shirou sighed as he knew what's going to happen.
Both his mother and sister had a shocked face when Shirou brought a girl home. However, both shocks are different.
"My baby boy got a girl home!" Their mother cried while after seeing Raynare.
Meanwhile, Sei was just speechless.
"Well… this is Amano Yuma, and she needs a place to stay since she was thrown out and…" Shirou didn't have time to continue as his mother bursted into tears.
"So sad!" she grabbed the girl's hands and said "From now on, you can live here." She then added "Just make sure that you get a lot of children with Shirou."
"Mom!" Both Shirou and Sei snapped.
"I will do my best to please Master!" Raynare replied.
'Why me…' Shirou sighed internally as Sei was clearly frustrated by what's happening.
If you have yet to figure who's the draconic girl, then you'll have to wait...
And according to the reviews... Sei will be in the harem (Srry 'bout that, Spirit109)
Anyways, if my memory is good Asia should appear in the next chapter.
I'll try to get it done as soon as possible.
