Chapter 1: For Once and Always

Zack and Cody Martin are 13-year old twins living in Boston's four-star Tipton Hotel, run by manager Marion Moseby. Their mom, Carey Martin, is the headlining singer at the Tipton, and they're also friends with Madeline Margaret Genevieve Miranda Catherine Fitzpatrick, or Maddie, the candy girl, and London Tipton, the local big-headed small-brained heiress. It was a sunny March 1st when our story begins…

Maddie was walking over towards the elevator when Zack and Cody came rushing out of it. Zack was holding a small blue piece of cloth while Cody was chasing after him, yelling "Give it back!" over and over again. Maddie walked over to Zack and grabbed him by his collar.

"Give it back to him Zack. You know how…sensitive Cody is," Maddie said. Zack frowned and Maddie let him down. Zack gave Cody his blankie back and turned to face Maddie. He then spoke.

"I know, Maddie, but that's what makes him so easy to pick on! But, alas, I'll do anything for you, Sweet Thang," Zack replied unhappily.

"Call me in ten years," Maddie said, "Oh, and Cody, try not to let him pick on you anymore, OK?" she finished as she walked over to the candy counter and took her first customer. Cody walked up to Zack.

"How come you're so good at everything? I ALWAYS get picked last for sports teams, I ALWAYS get picked on, and you ALWAYS get the girls," Cody said, "and I want to know why! Why can't I be a captain FOR ONCE? Why can't you get picked on FOR ONCE? Why can't I get a girl FOR ONCE!" Cody began to raise his voice in a fit of rage.

"Because you're no good at any of that stuff! And speaking of girls, check that one out! I call dibs!" Zack said as he rushed towards a redhead in the corner.

"Dibs? Who cares about dibs. This is the one time I'm going to do something better than Zack. I'm going to get that girl. But I'm going to need some serious help. Serious, serious help. Hm…Maddie!" Cody said as he rushed towards the candy counter.
