Chp. 13: Team HRRB
August 12, 2020
The next day in the Amphitheater, Teams RWBY, JNPR, JAAR, GRMA, OBSA, and HRRB along with several other students all in their school uniforms were all gathered for combat class. Glynda stood upon the stage addressing the class.
"Okay students. I will be picking two volunteers to come down for our first sparring match," Glynda said.
She taps on her Scroll and on the holographic screen over the stage, images of Jaune and Hera appear with filled aura stats.
"Mr. Arc. Ms. Kingsley. Please come down and prepare for your match," Glynda said.
"Good luck, Jaune," Pyrrha said.
"Why do I suddenly feel like this match is gonna be cringy to watch?" Jacob asked.
"You're probably just thinking things," Ren replied.
Jaune and Hera left the stands to get themselves ready. Kelly leaned in towards Azumi.
"How are you liking Beacon so far?" she asked.
"Amazing so far. It's no U.A. but still good," Azumi answered.
"Geez, you can't shut up about that show, can you?" Jacket asked.
"That anime is awesome, you uncultured swine!" Azumi said.
"What was that?!" Jacket growled.
"Cool it, Jacket. We all have our own tastes in entertainment," Jesse said.
"I certainly can't wait to watch a match right in front of me. I've never been more excited than anything else!" Watson said.
"Well, we're glad you're enjoying this, Watson. Combat class is always exciting," Yang said
"And it's always awesome!" Ruby exclaimed.
Emerald rolled her eyes and turns her attention towards the arena.
Jaune and Hera both walked out into the arena at opposite ends in their normal outfits. Jaune readied Crocea Mors as Hera pulled out a cyan colored claymore sword. The hilt was decorated with a crescent shaped guard beneath an additional cross guard. Above the cross guard was a second handle grip. Attached to the bottom of the hilt is a keychain consisting of three Dust gems, the first light blue, the second yellow, and the third white.
"Three! Two! One! Begin!" Glynda announced.
Hera rushes over towards Jaune as he readies his shield. She swung her claymore a few times at Jaune as he weaved away from the attacks. Jaune parried another attack from Hera and then bashed her in the side of the head with his shield. Hera yelled out in pain as she rubbed her head. She turned to Jaune again with a furious expression on her face.
"What the hell?! What was that for?!" she asked.
"Uhhh... what?" Jaune asked, looking both surprised and confused at his opponent's outburst.
"Why the fuck did you hit me? I'm a girl!" Hera yelled.
"Ummm... We're in a match. Of course I'm gonna fight back. What am I suppose to do? Take it?" Jaune asked.
"Yes! You can't fight back against women! It's wrong as hell!" Hera screamed.
"Are you serious right now? Is this supposed to be some sort of a joke?" Jaune asked.
"I'm not joking, you stupid fuck!" Hera screamed.
The entire class watched in surprise, confusion, and cringe, while Ronin, Rin, and Liberty all looked embarrassed at their team leader's actions.
"Somehow, I fucking knew something like this was gonna happen," Jacob said as he facepalmed.
"Is this a fight, or a fucking soap opera?" Jacket asked, crossing his arms.
"This is pathetic. Does she not know she's in the middle of a match?" Mercury asked.
"The first match I ever witness is a fucking joke. My excitement meter is dropping fast," Watson said.
"Boooooooooo! I want to see some broken legs!" Nora shouted.
"Nora," Ren said to his partner.
The entire class began to boo at Hera as she turned her attention to the class up in the stands.
"What are you all booing at?! Fuck off!" Hera screamed.
Just then, Glynda walks into the arena.
"Ms. Kingsley, need I remind you that this is a match? And what you're doing right now will be affect your grade?" she asked.
"Doing what?! Following my social beliefs?! I demand to speak with Professor Ozpin about this! RIGHT NOW!" Hera screamed.
"Oh my God. She's a Karen!" Ricky said.
"Yep," Jacob said with a nod.
"What's a Karen?" Oscar asked.
"People who are obnoxious, angry, think they're entitled, and oftentimes racist people who use their 'privilege' to get their way or police other people's behavior," Kendra explained.
"They like to get into arguments and fights, and stir up trouble for little to no reason. Karens are extremely petty as hell," Rebecca added.
"And unfortunately for us, we have a Karen in Beacon," Jesse said.
"Is it that bad?" Ilia asked.
"You have no idea," Britney answered.
"Then I feel sorry for the rest of her team," Blake said.
"Ms. Kingsley, I warning you. If you don't-" Glynda gets cut off by Hera.
"Don't what, you stupid bitch?! Don't what?!" she yelled.
"Okay, that's it! Mr. Arc wins by default!" Glynda announced as she facepalmed while shaking her head.
"This isn't fair, you stupid bitch!" Hera screamed.
"And Ms. Kingsley, go to the headmaster's office!" Glynda ordered as she pointed towards the door.
"Fine! Fuck you!" Hera shouted as she walked out of the arena.
"Well that was... disappointing," Azumi said.
"I was gonna say awkward and cringy, but I guess that works too," Allen said.
"At least Jaune won," Pyrrha said.
"It was still disappointing though, Pyrrha," Kelly said.
Dining Hall
Later in the Dining Hall, everyone all sat together having their lunches. Teams RWBY, JNPR, GRMA, CFDT, OBSA, and JAAR all sat at the same table eating together.
"I can't believe that actually happened," Allen said.
"Yeah! Who does she think she is? Screaming at Jaune like that after taking only one lousy hit?" Nora asked.
"I have half the need to bust a cap in her ass if I were to go up against her," Jacket said.
"Jacob, you said you used to have dated her. Was she always like this?" Blake asked.
"Wait a second. You actually dated the girl?" Mercury asked.
"What did you see in her?" Emerald asked.
"Believe it or not, she wasn't always like this," Jacob answered. "She was honestly a real sweet girl way before I moved to Knoxville."
"So what happened?" Ren asked.
"One day she went on a camping trip and a week later, she came back, but she changed... for the worst," Jacob answered. "It was like she became a completely different person. She became hostile over every little thing, did stuff that a Karen would do, and also became PC."
"PC?" Ruby asked
"Politically Correct," Robert answered.
"People like them are easily offended by even the slightest phrase or gesture and don't bother to take time to understand the context. Plus, nowadays, PCs usually use practices like these for their own benefits. In other words, they're just flat out stupid, useless, and annoying as hell," Kendra said.
"She would argue over video games being linked with real life violence despite there being no link at all, she would claim that white people are inheritably racist and are the inventors of slavery, racism, and colonization despite all that not being true either, and made claims of child abuse on parents who punished their kids by spanking them for misbehaving. She can't even take a fucking joke and would somehow suck the funny out of them," Jacob explained.
"She sounds like a nightmare," Rebecca said.
"I can see why you broke up with her," Yang said.
"Actually, that's not why I broke up with her. What she did next was what made me break up with her," Jacob said.
"What's that?" Ricky asked.
"I found her making out with someone. What's even worse was that the person was her brother," Jacob said with a slight gag.
Everyone recoiled in disgust upon hearing Jacob's answer.
"EWWWW!" Ruby, Nora, Azumi, and Kelly exclaimed.
"Dude! What the fuck!" Robert exclaimed in disgust.
"Are you serious?!" Jaune asked, hoping it wasn't true.
"Sweet home Alabama!" Ricky sang in disgust.
"That's disgusting!" Weiss said.
"N****!" Jacket shouted with a stunned look on his face.
"Wow. Just... wow," Emerald said, unable to find any words to describe her disgust.
"Was that really her brother he made out with?" Watson asked.
"Yep. And her excuse for this was that I wasn't giving her much attention and that she can get with other guys without consent from me," Jacob said.
"That is the dumbest excuse I have ever heard. Plus, you should never get with other people when you are already in a relationship. There's a word for that, and that's called cheating," Britney said.
"That was the final straw for me and I ended up breaking up with her right then and there. But she started stalking me for a few days and tried to take me back numerous times. And when she showed up to my house one day, my dad finally scared her away by stepping out the door with a shotgun in his hands. Several days later, she and her family thankfully moved away, and we haven't seen her since," Jacob said.
"Good for you until now," Mercury said.
"So do you think that she'll try to take you back, even though she knows you and I are dating?" Britney asked.
"Probably. She probably came here to Beacon because I happened to be here," Jacob answered.
"That might be the case from the sound of it," Kelly said with her head turned towards another table.
Jacob and Britney turned their heads to see what Kelly was looking at and saw Hera looking at Jacob before she quickly turned her head away pretending not to notice them.
"She better not try anything," Britney said with her eyes narrowed at Hera, while wrapping her arm around Jacob's.
Just then, Rin, Ronin, and Liberty walked over to the entire group.
"Excuse us?" Rin spoke, catching everyone's attention.
"Jaune, we came here to apologize for Hera's behavior towards you today," Ronin said.
"Yeah. We weren't sure what got into her today," Liberty added.
"It's fine, you guys. You three had nothing to do with it," Jaune said.
"I'm sorry you guys have to have Hera as team leader. Especially to whoever has to be her partner," Jacob said.
"That would be me," Liberty said, raising her hand.
"I speak for all of us and say you have our condolences," Kendra said.
Oscar turns his head to face Ronin and Rin.
"You two have... silver eyes," he said.
"Yeah," Watson nodded.
"Yes. Yes we do," Rin said.
"And they aren't dyed or anything like that?" Kelly asked
"Nope," Rin answered.
"Where are you guys from?" Allen asked
"Fairfield, California," Ronin answered.
Everyone stared at the Ferrers with widened eyes for a moment before asking one question.
"WHAT!?"
"You're telling us that you two are not from any of the four kingdoms?!" Nora asked.
"And you're from California?!" Rebecca asked.
"That's right," Rin answered.
"But your eyes are freaking silver!" Yang shouted.
"You guys aren't trying to fuck with us are you?" Britney asked.
"Nope. Were we're really born with silver eyes. Honest," Ronin answered.
"Damn," Ricky muttered with a stunned expression.
"Looks like I'm not the only silver eyed student here then," Ruby said.
"Then there's only one question we have left," Kendra said
"Do their eyes gain any power from Remnant merging with Earth?" Ren asked.
"I guess that's why Professor Ozpin must have brought them here. To figure out if they do," Blake said.
"So I'm guessing you guys are siblings?" Yang asked, pointing at Ronin and Rin.
"We're twins," the two answered in unison.
"Our auras were unlocked days after Remnant showed up," Rin said.
"Then we both decided to learn how to fight and eventually brought some parts for our weapons," Ronin said.
"And my aura was unlocked a month after Remnant merged with Earth. My big sister encouraged me to go out and train to fight and hope to become a Huntress," Liberty said.
"And what's with the name 'Liberty' by the way?" Robert asked.
"My dad is extremely patriotic," Liberty answered.
"Make sense I guess," Blake said.
"Things are gonna be really crazy here in Beacon," Ruby said.
"You can say that again," Jaune said.
