It was a lovely morning for the people of Castle City as Rose flew through the city but something is different about her today because everybody was staring with awe when they saw her. She wasn't happy about all the stares she got from everybody. Everywhere she goes, centaurs neighed, satyrs and fauns bleat, she gets catcalled by other guys, only for them to get slapped at by their girls. She caught up with her friends at Sweet Pop with a sleepy look on her face.

"Hey Rose!" The Snack Pack called up.

"Hey." Rose greeted with a glum tone.

"Rose, is there something wrong?" Poppy asked.

"It's just that every store in Castle City ran out of my favorite hair dyes and my hair returned to its barbie blonde state." She answered.

"Your hair is actually blonde?" Branch asked her.

"Yeah, my entire family has blonde hair, and so do my sisters, only in different shades with natural hair streaks or with solid blonde hair." Rose replied sarcastically. "My dad's hair is golden blonde, my mom is platinum blonde, my sister, Selena has icy blonde hair and my other sister is a strawberry blonde."

"Wow, you must be lucky to have blonde hair but we are all different no matter what, those passers-by are just thinking of the stereotypical blondes from the media, just to win your heart." Smidge said.

"Thanks, I'd better go to work today." Rose said as she flew away. Then, the delivery truck arrived at the cafe with the new deliveries from the farm.

"So, what is the delivery for today, Archer?" Poppy called out to Archer Pastry, who was driving their truck.

"We got milk, eggs, and baking powder, also oranges, and some honeycombs from the farm's apiary." Archer replied.

"Hey, I just got an idea." She gasped.

"What is it, Poppy?" Smidge asked.

"We can make orange juice and match them with pancakes." Poppy said. "But how can we make it so special?"

"Can we add bananas? Dad would usually add bananas to mine." Smidge suggested.

"I enjoy mine with blueberries." Cooper added.

"My grandma would make cornmeal pancakes with chocolate chips and topped with different sauces." Branch added.

Poppy stopped and thought of something. Then, she noticed her friends' wings fluttering while looking at her. That gave her an idea.

"I got it, we can make butterfly shaped pancakes or fluttercakes!" Poppy said. "We can have either old fashioned pancakes, or any pancakes you guys come up with and make them into fluttercakes. And I could make a new pancake recipe called honeycomb blonde pancakes, just to brighten up any rainy day!"

"Yeah, that's a great idea." Cooper agreed.

"I can't wait to tell Fuzzbert to start cooking." Branch added. "After we bring the deliveries to the kitchen.

After carrying the deliveries to the cafe, Poppy and her employees started preparing the menu and baked the pastries they prepared yesterday. When they are finally open, the customers line up one by one to taste the cafe's delicious pancakes. Rose was cheered up by the new honeycomb blonde pancakes that they made.

"I love these pancakes, they're pretty new." Rose said. "And I feel much better now."

"Thanks Rose, you're always our regular and our friend at the same time." Poppy squealed.

One of the customers, a mermaid named Pearlette, came up to them with a smile on her face.

"Hello Poppy, I was thinking if I could order a honeycomb cake, in the shape of a Funphibian?" She asked her.

"Okay, that would be 200 dollars." Poppy said, but Pearlette paid her enough money for the cake.

"The Funphibian, what is that?" Rose asked.

"It happens every early autumn, when the Funphibian arises from the water." Poppy said. "It's one of the most important holidays for the merfolk, when they try to perfect their singing."

"The Funphibian is the turtle-like creature that loves music." Pearlette said. "It can hold its breath for a year but when it surfaces, we merfolk celebrate it's arrival with an acapella song and it returns with a magic fountain show, but it is very picky. If it hears one bad note, it will return for another year."

"I can't wait to see it surface for the first time, and I hope my hair doesn't steal the show." She said sarcastically.

"It won't happen my dear, it only loves music and we will always be prepared for it." Pearlette said. "My mermaids and mermen will make sure the Funphibian's surfacing will be the highlight of it."

"Okay, I'll tell Fuzzbert to make the cake immediately." Poppy said.

"Ms. Pearlette, here are the umbrellas you ordered." A stern, Japanese male sprite appeared. He has fair skin, dull blue-grey hair, and blue eyes. He wears a black necktie with his white shirt, purple blazer, glittery golden pants, black shoes, and his golden wings are those of an emperor tau moth. A caucasian sprite in purple and blue flies around with the box, assisting him.

"Perfect timing, Sky Toronto." Pearlette said. "What do you think, do we sound good for the Funphibian?"

"Don't ask me, I don't sing." He said.

Everybody gasped, especially the merfolk, whose culture involves singing.

"I'm sorry but it sounded like you don't sing." Poppy added.

"Nuh uh, never." Sky said blandly.

"But why?" Rose asked.

"According to my chart, I have a lot of tasks, to-do lists and errands on a normal day." Sky said "Every second is accounted for so with this schedule, I get choosy on how I can get my fun, singing doesn't make the cut."

As he flies away, Rose is shocked about what is happening before her while Pearlette wheeled away to save Sky Toronto from a lonely life without singing.

"I wonder what is up with Sky Toronto and why he isn't into singing?" Rose gasped.

"C'mon Rose, who cares if Sky doesn't sing, I mean, I went years without singing in public and look how I turned out." Branch smirked.

"I'll go and investigate this charade but tell Fuzzbert to start baking the Funphibian honeycomb cake straight away!" Poppy said as she flew off while Rose went back to work after eating.

Poppy flew to Sky Toronto's building and watched from the windows. She saw Pearlette trying to convince Sky to sing.

"I'm sorry to barge in but I am worried about this singing thing." Pearlette said. "You're missing out on the best things in life."

While the two talked, Poppy eavesdropped on the conversation as the two talked over and over. Then, she saw Pearlette showing him a chart about things. They talked again until Sky started to sing. It broke her fake glasses and Poppy winced upon hearing his out of tune singing voice.

"So, that's singing?" He asked.

"Yeah." Pearlette answered awkwardly.

"I like it." He answered.

He started singing that everybody in Castle City started to get annoyed or irritated instead.

Oh, I'm feeling like a new sprite

Better than ever, alright

Now that I found my voice

I feel like I could take a flight

From this feeling inside

When I vocalize

Wherever I go

I put on a show

I'm singing solo…

Feel like a new sprite

So full of light

I'm singing solo…

And you don't even have a choice,

You're gonna hear my voice

I'm singing it loud

I'm singing so proud

I'm singing solo…

Everybody had to wear earmuffs, headphones, or listen to loud music to avoid hearing his terrible singing. Rose was working on her desk one day when her monitor broke from Sky Toronto's singing. The sound alarmed her boss.

"What happened, Rose?" Mr. Elfmore asked her.

"Mr. Elfmore, my monitor broke because someone's bad singing caused it!" Rose said.

"Oh no, looks like we need to replace this old thing, and Sky Toronto's singing is getting much worse." He said.

"Wait, Sky Toronto is the one who is singing?" Rose asked.

"He was my schoolmate once and his bad singing caused him to be bullied." He answered.

"Oh, I wonder why he ended up like this?" She asked him.

"His parents are the reason." Her boss replied. "They never gave him any attention at all and he shooed them out when he had lots of money, I'll tell Poppy about it."

Back at Sweet Pop, Poppy and the rest of the Snack Pack are watching Sky singing so badly that they have to wear headphones while working.

"Ugh, I have to figure out how to tell Sky about his singing without hurting his feelings." Poppy said.

"Oooh, you could do it really fast, quick and easy." Smidge suggested.

"We can pretend we enjoy it." Biggie butted in. "Like we did with Branch's play."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You didn't like my play?" Branch gasped.

"The only thing I hear from your play is when you say Gary in Spanish." Rose said. "It is so malísimo."

"Okay, this is ridiculous, Mr. Elfmore told me about Sky Toronto and his bad days in school." Poppy said. "I'll just go up to Sky and tell him that his singing needs work."

"Who's singing needs work?" Sky asked them from behind.

"Hey Sky, old chum." Mr. Elfmore greeted him.

"I just came by to tell you that my singing creates a buzz around the city." He said.

"Someone told ya?" Mr. Elfmore asked.

"No, I figured it out myself." Sky answered.

"Oh!" Poppy gasped. "I'm sorry Sky, I should've said something, I just don't know how."

"I completely understand, you're in an awkward position." He continued. "And I wanted to sing with Pearlette and her crew for the Funphibian."

"Sky, but with one bad note, it will go back underwater." Mr. Elfmore said.

"If you want to sing with Pearlette's crew, we'll join in!" Rose gasped.

At Crystal Lake, Pearlette and her crew are preparing and perfecting their voices when the Snack Pack with Rose arrives at the site with the Funphibian cake that they prepared. When Sky Toronto started warming up his vocals, it annoyed everybody, even the spectators.

"Ms. Pearlette, the other merfolk and I are concerned that if someone sings one wrong note, we'll miss out on the fountain show for a year." One merman complained.

"I know but what will I say to Sky?" Poppy asked.

"There might be a way for Sky not to be left out." Rose said.

"What makes you say that?" Branch asked.

"You helped me realize that there is more to me than just my blonde hair, we can help Sky find out that there is more to his singing than it is terrible." She explained.

"Wait, are you saying that within every terrible note, there is more to it than seeing it as an error?" Biggie asked.

"Yeah, just like behind every blonde is an empowered woman." Rose grinned. "Behind every bad note, there is a beautiful song to it."

"That is exactly what we will do." Pearlette said. "When I heard Sky's terrible singing, I had an idea that could help him."

"The Funphibian is coming! The Funphibian is coming!" A mermaid cried.

The Funphibian arose from the surface and every mermaid and merman swam to their places. Pearlette has everything under control and she is confident that Sky will help them achieve their goal.

"Okay Sky, if you can't match our singing, we can match you instead." She said. "Hit it!"

When Sky started signing, everybody joined in, with the Snack Pack also joining with the mer-choir, using their acapella singing to accompany him. The Funphibian loved the song they created and it made a spectacular fountain show for everybody to enjoy. Even Rose was amazed by the spectacle but the show became more memorable when the cake was presented, which amazed everybody. After cutting up the cake, the slices were served with magic to everybody. Sky Toronto went up to Pearlette and the Snack Pack.

"We couldn't have done it without you, Sky." Poppy thanked him.

"Don't mention it." Sky smiled back. "It was Pearlette's idea."

"I really want to give you a chance to sing because I felt so bad for you." Pearlette said.

"Thanks to you, I decided not to dye my hair back to black and pink again." Rose added. "I think I'll adjust to being the blonde beauty but I'll do it in my own way."

Everybody continued to watch the Funphibian swim around while eating cake. As they watched the spectacle, the Funphibian is happy, making a grand fountain show for everybody that no one will ever forget the day that brought a rainbow to Sky and Rose in their rainy days.
