Hello, this is Draco here with another chapter for you guys. In this chapter, I wanted to focus on the aftermath when Wendy/Azura finally finished putting the relic back together again. In this chapter, I will be starting the introductions to the start of the Shadow Duels/Shadow Games I mentioned in the first chapter. I wanted to give a perspective of a different universe in which events on Earth/Earthland take a different turn.
If anyone is wondering if Happy and Carla will make an appearance, I plan on making them have a new role in the story as Duel Monster Spirits since the usual trope is already overused. I wanted to see how it would be if the exceeds were creatures that ended up on earth land when they passed through Edolas and the Spirit World.
Also since this is a crossover for Fairy Tail and Yugioh that means that in this different universe Yugi and his friends are going through their own adventures just like in the anime and they will make appearances in the story so they will meet Azura and everyone else in future chapters.
Well, anyways enough about that, time to continue forward. Also, a few new characters will be mentioned in this chapter. And they will show up later on in the chapters ahead.
Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail or Yugioh, Both belong to their respective owners. Please support the Official Releases.
New bonds formed
Magnolia City, Azura's house at 12 am
"Will you be my friend?" Azura spoke with tears in her eyes as the pinkette looked at her with a gentle gaze.
"If that is your wish then I will grant it." He spoke to her and in an instant, her touchphone blared up. wiping her tears. She grabbed it, looked, and saw the displayed message. It read
'Hey sis, I just finished closing up shop. Also, I'm heading home now to give you your final gift for your sweet 15th birthday.'
Now for Azura, it warmed her heart that her brother was coming back. To be honest, Azura was really happy at least her brother cared enough to inform her plus she was curious as to what the last birthday gift was.
Although she just remembered that since she just completed the relic. She wasn't sure at first what it would be when she finished it but she was glad to know that it turned out to be a pendant of all things.
But now there were more important things on her mind as another question arose in her mind. How was she going to hide Yukaru?
Now things have taken a sudden change. Since she realized that her brother is coming home that would mean one thing. She would get in trouble and the worst part is that she had a boy her age in her room at midnight and a strange boy no less.
Suddenly she flushed and now she was freaking out as within minutes her brother had arrived back at their house and he was beginning to walk up the stairs directly to her room. Without a moment to lose she quickly grabbed the pinkette.
"Quickly, get over here and hide in my closet," Azura spoke urgently as Yukaru began to question her actions.
"Is something wrong? And why are you bringing me to your wardrobe?" He asked confused as she quickly answered him.
"I can't afford to have my brother find you in my room. If you get found out then I'm going to be in so much trouble." Yukaru still didn't understand considering the events just took place.
He was just released from the relic after being sealed for 7000 years and now he was going to be locked away again. He didn't like that idea.
He stopped as Azura looked at him in panic.
"What are you doing? You have to hide or else we're going to be in serious trouble." Azura told him as he then did something out of the ordinary.
Before her brother could make it to her room, Yukaru waved his hand to the door and locked it to prevent her brother from entering. Then he looked over to Azura before speaking.
"I understand you have a fear of being in trouble especially when it comes to your siblings walking in but I don't appreciate it when you're trying to lock me in a wardrobe to hide. Besides I just finally got unsealed from the relic and the last thing I want is to have to go through a similar experience. So I'll kindly ask you to refrain from moving me towards areas that are heavily cramped and lacking in space." He spoke in an annoyed tone as she then tried to come up with a new idea.
"Hey, sis is everything good? I thought I heard someone speaking to you in there." Her brother answered as he faced her door. He tried pulling the door knob but it wouldn't budge.
"No! No one is in here! You must have been hearing things brother." Azura tried assuring him as a light bulb clicked in her mind. She thought of a new way to avoid getting in trouble.
Grabbing Yukaru's hand, she then motioned him over to the bottom of the bed.
"Hide here, when my brother leaves my room, I'll motion you to come out." Without a second to lose, Yukaru was forced to hide under Azura's bed as she then went over to the door and unlocked it.
"Hey, I could have sworn that I heard you talking to someone in here. Is there something your not telling me sis?" Her brother asked as she quickly waved her hands in opposite directions.
"Nope, Nobody is in here. You must have been hearing things." Her brother knew that Azura was acting strange but seeing as how it was the start of her 15th birthday he just decided to leave it be.
Besides he just wanted his little sis to have fun on her special day.
"Okay I won't press further but if you ever need anything and if you feel lonely just know that you can count on me." Azura thanked him as he patted her head and gave her his gift before returning to his room to rest.
After a few minutes, Azura made sure to check and see if anyone was still up. Yukaru then spoke.
"Can I get out from under your bed now? It's not exactly fun to be on the floor for this long." He groaned as she went to him and then with a helping hand, helped him up the floor.
Dusting himself off, he then noticed her deck box on her desk.
"What is this?" He looked at the box as Azura then noticed his action.
"That is one of the early gifts that I got from my brother recently."
"I see..." He read the box label.
"Tempest Wrath"
He looked over at the design and couldn't help but be impressed. The cover card looked to be a girl dressed in a spellcaster outfit. As for the character herself, she has long green hair and emerald eyes. She also looked to be carrying what looks to be a green wand.
"Tempest Magician Girl." He read the card's name.
"That card came with the deck of cards that my brother gave me. It's from a card game called Duel Monsters." She explained as he put her cards down and then looked over at her.
"Well, one thing I can say is that you have been blessed to have a wonderful sibling that cares for you. Also, I noticed that the box has yet to be opened. Do you plan on using these cards in any way? It would be a waste if you didn't open and use them." Yukaru explained in a questioning manner.
"I'm not one for games like those. Besides with how school just started, I can't afford to be messing around." She tried to reason as he looked over at the cards.
"If you say so. But let me tell you this, you never know what can happen. Whether you use them or not is your decision. If it were up to me, I wouldn't let a gift like that go to waste." He then looked over at the clock.
It was already passing midnight and knowing how Azura is, she does not want to be in any more trouble than she has already gotten into today.
"It looks like it's already far past midnight."
"Shoot! I completely forgot about that! I have to start going to bed now." Azura panicked as now she had to get ready for bed. Luckily Yukaru was way ahead of her.
"I'll be taking my leave now. If you need me then just call out to me when you need help or if you are in trouble." Before taking his leave, she looked at him.
"Wait, I just want to ask you something really quick."
"Go on." He waited for her response.
"Tomorrow when I go to school, it's a little intimidating being by myself. And I wanted to know if you will be by my side?"
"Do you need me to be physically by your side the entire day?"
"No not exactly that. You see a new rule was implemented into the academy and unfortunately one of the requirements necessary for a partnership is that I have to find someone who is the exact opposite of me." She explained while fidgeting. Yukaru listened and took note of her choice of words. He thought about it and understood what she needed.
"I see, and I'm going to assume that one of the reasons I was released is because you had no one that could be your partner correct?" He assumed as she failed her arms in embarrassment.
"No! that's not it at all! When I put the relic back together, I just wanted to have a true friend that would never abandon me or leave me behind." Azura confessed as he understood her true motives.
"I see, now everything is clear to me. Thank you for explaining it. As for your academy rule, I will be your partner for as long as you need me to be." Yukaru offered as Azura was relieved now.
Although there was one question on her mind now. How is Yukaru going to be her partner? It would be hard to pull off since he's not even a part of her school.
"If you are wondering how I can be your partner, then I wouldn't worry about it. I have an idea that will work." He reassured her as he gave Azura the relic. After that, he took his leave as he returned to his ethereal form and reentered the pendant.
"Well, whatever happens, I'm sure things will work out hopefully."
She then changed into her pajamas as she entered her bed and began to think about the events that transpired.
So much happened on her first day of school. Well, the first bit of her day wasn't exactly the best but now with everything that happened she wasn't sure how to take what will happen in the future.
"No, I shouldn't think too much about it. It would only make it worse by overstressing." She thought in her mind. But she couldn't help but be hopeful now that she had someone that she formed a bond.
Content with her day, she entered her bed while wrapping the sheets around her body closed her eyes, and let the drowsiness take her.
Azura's house, Magnolia City 7:30 am
The sun rose in the distance as the streets filled with people who were going about their day. Children of all ages preparing for school, adults going to their jobs and other people without a moment to lose began to prepare for business.
Azura woke up and looking at her clock noticed that it was 7:30 am. Thankfully this time she didn't wake up late in preparing for school. She quickly got up from her bed went to the washroom to freshen up and then went back to her room to prepare for her day. Putting on a light blue shirt with her skirt, she then put on her knee socks, put on her school uniform, and brushed her hair before finally going to the mirror and inspecting herself.
This time she was prepared and she felt hopeful as she looked over to her desk and grabbed her relic. She thought about it and tried calling out to him.
"Hey Yukaru-san, it's morning and I wanted to know if you are ready?"
No response came as she felt a little bummed out. She thought in her mind that he will most likely appear when he needed to.
Then before heading out, she looked over to her desk and thought about what he said when she had her deck given to her. Sure she wasn't all that much into games but she had a feeling that something was going to happen. She went and grabbed the deck before heading out.
As she got downstairs, her brother called her.
"Hey sis, I just wanted to let you know that I got a call from the academy. They said that they needed to discuss something with you. And that it was important."
"Really? Okay, then thanks for letting me know big brother." She made a small smile before taking off and leaving her home.
"Something tells me that her day is going to be interesting." Her brother smiled. He didn't know what the feeling was but something in his heart told him that Azura was going to have a life-changing day.
...
...
...
As Azura was walking to the school gates, A voice called out to her.
"Hi Azura, how's it going?" Azura turned around to be met by Macy and Ace as they walked to greet her.
"H-Hi um, Macy was it?"
"Yep, the one and only." Macy smiled and Ace Looked around. He then spotted Ezra by the entrance. It looked like she takes her role as the student council president very seriously.
"So, how are you doing Azura? We never got the chance to talk since we were really busy."
"Busy? You mean you going to the mall and looking at dresses and outfits for the past 4 hours." Ace spoke as Macy then had an annoyed look on her face.
"Says the one who is always forgetting to have his belongings with him at all times not to mention you have an unnatural habit of losing your clothes whenever we are in crowded public places." She retorted as Azura just sweat dropped at the accusations the two were giving each other.
"Well enough about that, have you finally found a partner for the next three years?"
"Actually about that, I'm not sure but I have to go to the office right now since it's really important."
"I see, well hopefully it goes well for you." Macy finished as she then went to prepare for the first class. Ace followed suit and Azura couldn't help but feel happy. She was at least able to have a conversation with people in her class. Even though the conversation was short, it was still progressing on her end and the best was that she didn't stutter once.
"I should start heading over to see what they have to tell me," Azure told herself as she began to head over to the office.
"I wonder where Yukaru is? I haven't seen him all morning." She wondered as she made it to the door. Slowly opening it up, she entered the room to find the principal waiting at the door.
And as she made it inside, she then noticed another person in the room. It was Yukaru. She had no idea where he had gone and now he was right in front of her and talking with the principal. Part of her wanted to know if he had done something or said something that involved that call from the school.
"Ah yes now that Wendy has made it we can now begin." The principal motioned her to sit down as Yukaru made space for her next to him.
"Okay so I'm going to make things very brief so I'm only going to say this once." He paused before speaking again.
"I wanted to let you know that we have enrolled Natsu in our academy and starting today he will be partnering up with you. The reason why is because we had noticed that on the first day of school you were the only one that was not able to find a partner. And as we had explained yesterday during the assembly, a partner will be required to fulfill most of the school's upcoming activities." Azura wasn't expecting this. It was only the second day of the school year and now this happens. She could only wonder what would happen next.
"And for class, He will be taking the seat right next to you. As for you young man, we have already prepared a school uniform for your attendance. We hope that you two will have a wonderful experience here as partners and as classmates." The principal smiled as he then motioned the two to leave his office.
"Hey Yukaru, When you said that you had a plan in motion, was this what you meant?" She asked.
"This is only a small change I did, everything else came naturally after that," Yukaru explained as Azura tried to understand how he was able to make that change and enroll himself.
She had to wonder though, does he have the power to alter people's memories?
"I wouldn't think too much into it, right now I have to get changed that way I can do what I came here to do."
"Right I got it, I'll be waiting for you by the classroom."
"I'll let you know when I'm there." And with that, he went to the restroom to change his clothing. Azura then made her way into the classroom as everyone was there waiting for the teacher to arrive. There was still some free time so Azura got all of her utilities ready that way she would be prepared for the class session.
Five minutes later Professor Doran arrived and the class had prepared for whatever boring lessons they were going to have today.
"Hello everyone, I have an announcement to make. I know this might be sudden since we are currently starting our second day of school but we have a new student joining us today." This piqued everyone's interest as Professor Doran motioned for the door.
"You can come in now." Yukaru then opened the door and walked in as the students took a close look at their new classmates. Yukaru then looked over to Azura who took a close look at his new look.
His appearance now consists of a long flaring red and dark blue coat that he left unbuttoned, a black sleeveless shirt, grey pants, black shoes, and his scarf, which wasn't around his neck. This time it was wrapped around his shirt.
Azura had to admit, he had the look down. Macy and Ace couldn't help but notice Yukaru and their intrigue grew. Macy had never seen this guy before and something in her heart told her that whatever happened in that office must have involved him. Ace on the other hand was interested since he has a sense that this guy was gonna be a big part of the future to come. Plus he couldn't help but feel his blood pumping at the prospect of another potential guy entering his group.
At least he could have a conversation with a guy for a change instead of having to deal with Macy again.
"Now then, would you care to introduce yourself?" Yukaru went to the front and with his hand in his pocket and made his introduction.
"My name is Natsu Dragneel. But you can call me Yukaru, it's a pleasure to join your class and to learn alongside everyone." Finishing his introduction he then made his way to where Azura was seated and took his spot at the desk by the window.
"Happy to see me here?" He whispered to her as the class began. Azura could only show her gratitude by smiling at him before giving him a small piece of paper with some scribbles on it.
He took the paper and looked at the scribbles, it read.
"You look cool with that uniform. Also, I want to talk to you later on if that's okay with you?"
He then grabbed his pencil and began to write on the paper. Giving it back to Azura, She took the paper and read the contents.
"Thank you for the compliment, as for your request I'm happy with talking to you later on." Before Azura could write a response, Professor Doran began to speak, signifying the class session's start.
"That reminds me, I have some news that I wanted to inform you all of. After a month has gone by we will be having our Fantasia Festival coming up and with that many activities will be up and running. Also, we have many clubs that will be opening up, but if anyone doesn't like the current clubs that we have then you have the option to make your club if it meets the requirements. Last but certainly not least, the classes will be competing against each other and the class that comes out on top will receive rewards based on the number of points accumulated in the time frame of the festival. If you require more information about the festival then please speak to Erza the student council president. She will be more than happy to help you out with any questions you may have. That is all." With that class has now begun.
Azura this time focused on her studies and even took notes so that way she could be prepared. Yukaru on the other hand had no idea about the contents of the book he was reading from. It made a lot of sense considering that he wasn't used to the modern-day cultures of this time. However, since he manipulated things to a small extent he tried his best and decided to wait until the teacher had finished the lesson. After waiting forty minutes the class session ended. The teacher took his leave and everyone began to go about their day.
Macy stretched out her hands before heading over to where Azura and Yukaru were seated. Ace followed suit considering that he wanted to know who the new guy was.
"Hey Azura, are you free right now? I and Ace are going to be checking out the clubs since the teacher mentioned it to us before. Also, we wanted to catch up and see if you are interested in hanging out with us." Azura thought about it in her head.
Should she follow them and get to know them better or should she just do her own thing and have that conversation with Yukaru? Her thoughts were interrupted when Ace spoke breaking the silence
"Hey new guy, you want to come along too? It would be cool to have another guy in the group." Azura then regained her thoughts as she looked over to Yukaru who in return looked over to the raven-haired boy in front of him. Macy was also curious as to what the pinkette was thinking.
"Sure besides, I don't know anyone here and since I'm still fairly new I wouldn't mind having extra company. However, that's only if Azura is interested." They looked over to Azura as she thought in her mind. It wouldn't hurt to spend some time with them. Yukaru would be by her side as just as he promised her and that would help her not be as nervous as she was yesterday.
"You know what. Sure I'll be more than happy to spend some time with you two. Besides, I want to get to know you two a little better if that's okay?" Azura got up from her desk as Macy celebrated their now official friendship with Azura and now with Yukaru joining their little group of friends.
Their group got slightly bigger. So that was a plus.
As the group left class and began to walk around the school, They looked all over and saw the different classes and the different faculties. Yeah, the staff were not kidding when they mentioned this Academy as a prestigious school.
They passed by many clubs and even though some looked pretty cool, they never caught anything of interest.
"Not gonna lie, some of the clubs look a little bit bland. I wonder if they have anything else that interesting." Macy spoke as everyone else was eying the different flyers on the wall. Yukaru then noticed a small flyer on the ground as he picked it up. It was an event that was going to take place during the Fantasia Festival.
It read.
"Duel Monsters Tournament. Signup starts next week. For more information please contact your nearest game store." Intrigued by the flyer he then spoke as the group turned to meet his gaze.
"Take a look at this. What do you all think?" The group looked at the flyer before looking back at him.
"It looks pretty interesting, Are you into games like this by any chance? Ace asked as Yukaru had a perplexed expression.
"Yes it does, It looks intriguing after seeing the deck of cards Azura got from her brother since it is her birthday." This caught the attention of Macy and Ace. They didn't know that Azura even had cards. Plus they had no idea it was even her Birthday until now.
"Ehhhhh! It's your birthday today!? Why didn't you tell us sooner Azura?"
"My bad about that, it's just that I don't like celebrating it all that much." She had a crestfallen expression as everyone took notice. They were wondering what kind of past did she have that made her hate her special day.
"I see... well even if you don't like celebrating your birthday, that's gonna change." Azura had a perplexed expression.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Isn't it obvious? Today we are going to make sure that you have the best birthday ever." Macy spoke in determination as her eyes had a spark. Yukaru decided not to say anything but go along with it. Ace also just followed Yukaru's example. None of them had any idea of what Macy was planning.
The day went relatively fast, the classes felt like they went by super fast, then lunch began. The group all gathered around as they all sat down at a table.
"So back to the conversation we had earlier. Yukaru mentioned that it was your birthday and that you were given a deck of cards correct?"
"Yeah that's right, My brother gave me the cards as an early birthday gift. He has a shop where he sells games as it is a big passion of his so I get some of my gifts and games from him a majority of the time. Even if I'm not really into the game as other people are, the gift is still precious to me." Azura explained as Macy and the others smiled. Macy then noticed the pendant wrapped around Azura's neck.
"By the way, is that pendant another gift from your brother?" Azura looked over at her relic before explaining herself.
"Actually about this pendant, it wasn't given to me. I just happened to come across it when it was just a bunch of misplaced pieces in a box. I was exploring in my brother's shop and found it there." Azura mentioned as Macy understood.
"You don't say. Well, I just wanted to say that it looks lovely on you." Azura couldn't help but smile at the compliment.
"T-Thank you. No one has ever said that to me before."
"It's no problem, us girls have to stick together you know," Lucy reassured her. It was always like Macy to look out for her friends whether they be new or old friends.
"Hey Azura, if it's okay with you, why don't we go to your brother's shop later today? Maybe we can find something fun to do while we're at it over there." Macy suggested as Ace and Yukaru perked up.
"Are you sure about that? I mean, It's just a small game store. I don't know if your gonna find anything interesting there." Azura reasoned as Macy just reassured her.
"Azura it's going to be fine and besides I'm interested in what's in that shop."
"Okay if you say so." Azura knew that there was no arguing with Macy.
"Yes, I would like to see the kind of place where your brother works as well." Yukaru admittedly spoke.
"So it's decided. We are heading over to Azura's Brother's shop after school today."
"I'm interested in seeing what kind of games and stuff he sells. Who knows maybe I'll find something to get." Ace spoke as he smiled at the prospect. He was certainly planning on enjoying something new for a change and it's better than going to a clothing shop and waiting hours on end for someone to finish trying out dresses.
Now that the group has finally decided on their plans for the day, they went about their time getting to know one another. Azura at first was a little nervous about making a full conversation with someone she barely knew. Since they began conversing they just had little moments of dialog with each other since neither of the two knew much about the other. Just like how Yukaru began having a conversation with Ace, she wanted to do her best and at least make two new friends at school.
Due to the two sharing so many common interests, Azura opened herself up more to Macy and before they knew it, she was more comfortable talking with her.
Yukaru and Ace had developed a strong connection with each other, Yukaru was learning new things about Ace while Ace in return was learning about Yukaru and building a sort of friendship. Ace was happy that he had another guy to that he could talk. It made his day.
After a few more minutes, Lunch had ended and the group began to head to their final class. before making their way over they were stopped by someone.
"How is the school treating you all?" A stoic voice of authority asked them as they turned around to see a certain redhead approach them.
"We are enjoying it here. Thanks for asking Ezra." Macy smiled as Ezra then looked over to the pinkette who she didn't recognize.
"And who might you be? I haven't seen you here yet. Are you a new student by any chance?"
"Yes I am, I just enrolled today. My name is Natsu Dragneel but you can call me Yukaru. It's a pleasure to meet you today." He introduced himself.
"Likewise, My name is Erza Scarlett but you can call me Ezra." Ezra extended her hand as he returned the gesture.
"Now then you don't want to miss class. So if anything I can walk with you all if you like?" Ezra offered as Macy accepted the kind gesture.
"Sure we don't mind, the more the merrier. By the way, Ezra do you have any plans for later on today?"
"No I don't, why do you ask?"
"We are planning to celebrate Azura's birthday and we wanted to ask if you wanted to join us."
"Is it okay for me to come along with all of you? I don't even know any of you."
"Well, we want to be friends with you and it would be really fun to have another girl in the group." Macy reasoned as Ezra thought about it.
"Very well then, if you insist I don't see why not. I could take the time to get to know all of you individually. Plus it helps me memorize and makes my job easier if anyone makes any trouble." Ezra agreed as she then began to walk the group.
"Don't worry, we don't plan on causing you any issues. We know that the student council doesn't tolerate any issues, small or big." Azure reassured the redhead.
"Then that means I'll have nothing to worry about." Ezra smiled.
Making it to the class, Ezra bid everyone farewell as she began to walk towards another class presumably her own. The group then entered the class and everyone began to take their seats. thankfully the last class was a free period so the class to the time to bond over new things.
Azura took the time to talk with Yukaru about certain things.
"Thank you again for being by my side. I appreciate it."
"It's no problem, like I mentioned to you before, I will keep my promise no matter what," Yukaru spoke as he then looked over his book.
"May I ask you for assistance in this literature? Since I enrolled here, it's been difficult for me to understand any of this." Azura kindly fulfilled the request as she began to teach Yukaru everything she knew. He had a lot of trouble when it came to this stuff but it made sense. Since releasing him, he has been trying to get accustomed to this new era of time. And it would take some time until he got used to things.
"Thank you, Azura, with your help, all of this is more clear to me than before. I appreciate your assistance."
"It's no problem, I was more than happy to help. And if you ever need more help then please don't hesitate to ask me." She kindly spoke as Yukaru took her words to heart and accepted her future assistance.
With that, the class continued until the final bell rang, signifying the school day's end. With that everyone prepared to head out.
"Let's wait for Ezra since she agreed to meet up with us." Everyone just waited by the front gates as students began to head out in opposite directions. Five minutes later Ezra was seen walking out and talking to another student as she approached the group.
"My apologies for being late, I was finishing some last-minute council work and I had another member assist me with it." She explained as a white-haired girl passed by the group.
"Later Ezra, let me know how it goes. And I'll keep you updated on the work." The white-haired girl responded as she took her leave
"I'll talk to you later Kira. And have a nice day. Let Lisa and Dan know I send them my regards." Ezra waved at her before turning back to the group.
"That was Mirajane, and she is a member of the student council. But most people call her by her nickname Kira." Erza explained.
"Well, now that's out of the way. It's time to head out." Everyone agreed as they began to head out of the school grounds.
"So who are Lisa and Dan?" Ace asked as Ezra spoke in her usual stoic tone.
"Those would be her younger siblings. Elfman and Lisanna Strauss. They go to our school but we missed them earlier. They are in the same year as you but they are in a different class. One of these days I'll be sure to properly introduce them to all of you."
"Sure it sounds like fun, Hopefully, we can meet the two of them soon," Yukaru mentioned seeing as he wanted to meet new people.
"Now it's time to go. Off to the game store." Macy marched forward as everyone followed suit. The walk was quite enjoyable as they learned that Ezra isn't as intimidating as people would expect.
If you get to know her well enough she isn't a bad person, she just has a strong personality and that's what most people see when they speak or talk to her.
After ten minutes of walking through the neighborhood and making it to the main street. they finally came across a store on the corner. It looked decently sized and a sign was posted on the front of the building.
'Skysong Games Store'
"This is the place, welcome to my brother's shop." Azura guided everyone as the door rang signifying new customers were approaching. Her brother came over.
"Hello good afternoon, welcome to the Skysong Games how may we-" Her brother stopped seeing his little sister in his store. Not only that but she was with people he assumed were from her school.
"Hey sis, I didn't know you were coming over. How was school today And who are these guys? Are they your friends" He asked as everyone introduced themselves.
"My name is Lucy Heartfilia, but you can call me Macy. It's a pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself
Ace followed. "The name is Gray Fullbuster, but you can call me Ace. It's great to meet you."
"Hello my name is Erza Scarlett but you can call me Ezra. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Ezra bowed her head in respect. Yukaru had to be careful about his introduction considering that he almost got caught in Azura's room last night.
"Hello my name is Natsu Dragneel, but you can call me Yukaru. it's a pleasure to meet you." He made sure to make the proper gesture to avoid any issues. Now out of everyone that was there Azura's brother had his eyes specially set on the pinkette. He knows that someone was in his sister's room the night before but to avoid any issues and since he wanted to ensure that Azura would enjoy her birthday he decided to avoid the subject, for now, though he would inquire about it later.
"Yeah, they are new friends that I made today at school. And I'm excited to spend my birthday with them today." She smiled as her brother couldn't help but chuckle.
"I couldn't be any happier. I'm so happy for you Azura. I knew that today had to be a special day and I was correct."
"So now how can I help you out today?" Yukaru then pulled out the flyer he found on the floor at the school. Her brother looked at the flyer and understood.
"Are you interested in the Duel Monsters Tournament coming up soon? The registrations are happening soon if you want to sign up?" Yukaru was interested but he didn't have anything to use for the matter.
"It sounds like fun but I don't have any sort of deck, plus I don't have any money or any other form of currency to give you for one."
"Don't worry about that, I can cover for you. Since you are interested in the game I can give you a freebie. and that includes your friends if they are interested as well." Her brother offered as Yukaru perked up.
"A freebie?"
"Yes I can give you a deck for free, normally I would charge you for it but I'm really happy that my little sister has you all as friends so that's why I'm going to give you each one for free." Yukaru took the kind gesture as her brother motioned for Yukaru to choose any of the decks available. He looked around and then he spotted a certain red and black box.
It read.
'Dragon's Heart'
The cover card was a man dressed in sacred red dragon-like armor, his appearance consisted of crimson hair, and onyx eyes and for the weapon, he had a long red blade that looked like a dragon's fang.
'Dragon Blade Paladin' The card read as Yukaru then looked at the contents of the box. It had a unique set of magic, traps, and monster cards.
He then looked over to a corner of the collection and began to look at the different individual cards put on display until one happened to catch his eye.
It looked to be a creature with blue fur with two white wings attached to it.
"Happy The Guardian Exceed." He read as he pointed to the card.
"I have a question, are you selling this card?" Azura's brother came over to check. He looked at the card that the pinkette was pointing to.
"Are you wanting that one?" Yukaru nodded as he felt drawn to the card. Azura's brother then grabbed the card and prepared it before giving it to Yukaru.
"Wait? Aren't you going to charge me for it?"
"No, I don't intend to. I'm giving you that card as a way of showing my appreciation for making my little sis enjoy her special day and for being her friend." He smiled at him before helping everyone else out.
After everyone finished grabbing their respective Decks, Azura's brother then bowed his head and bid them farewell.
"Your brother was super nice, I can't believe he gave us each a deck for free. What a generous guy." Macy spoke in awe and gratitude for the kind gesture they had experienced.
"My brother has always been like that. He always likes to give people a chance when it comes to his hobby of playing games." Azura mentioned as they proceeded to walk by the Magnolia City Mall.
Magnolia Mall, Business Center District 3 pm
The place was super big and if no one is careful they could get lost easily. They looked over to the stores and began exploring around.
To say that the mall was big was a huge understatement. The mall had a massive assortment of stores ranging from clothing shops to jewelry sections and then the arcade.
Azura entered a store where she and Macy decided to try some new clothes. Ace saw this and tried to warn Yukaru of what was about to happen but Macy wasn't going to let either of the two get away.
"Oh no, you two don't. You guys aren't going anywhere. Yukaru, Azura is going to need some insight on the clothes that she is picking out so I'm going to need you to help her pick out clothes that she will like."
"It can't be helped, besides I just have to wait until she shows me the outfits correct?"
"Glad to know that you know how us females work. That saves me the trouble of explaining things to you." She smiled as she then looked over to Ace.
"As for you Ace, don't you want to be a good friend and help me find something to wear for celebrating her birthday~?" She spoke in an innocent yet venomous tone as a purple aura began emanating from her signifying that she hadn't forgotten about the comments made by him earlier during the school day.
Ace realized that she still held a grudge considering the previous few days in which he went with her to shop he would comment about how she could never find a good dress to wear and was wasting her time. And now she would give him retribution.
He began to sweat profusely as she approached him and then he looked over to Yukaru who just went to help Azura with trying out clothing and giving her opinions on what looked nice.
Knowing that he was screwed, he booked it as Macy then yelled out.
"Where do you think you're going? I still haven't forgotten your little comments from earlier and now you're going to pay the price." She dashed after him.
Ezra just sweat dropped at the scene that just played out before her. She did agree that Ace had no respect when it came to matters regarding women and fashion. She looked over to Yukaru and Azura.
"I'm going to explore a shop across the way so if anything once everyone is done let's meet back here in front of the center.
"We got it, Ezra have fun." Ezra smiled and then took off in the opposite direction.
"Let's get to searching," Azura spoke as she went into the shop before them
"Yeah let's see what we find." Yukari followed her inside.
.
.
.
Azure was grabbing a few outfits before heading into the changing room to switch outfits.
"Some of these look pretty, I wonder what Yukaru will think seeing these. I'll try these four outfits and see what he says."
Yukaru was sitting outside the rooms on a bench just starting at the deck of cards that he had gotten from Azura's brother. Since she was busy trying out new clothes he figured he had the time so without a second to waste he opened the deck box and began to look at the different cards in front of him.
"Some of these cards have good effects. Let's see this one." He looked over to a specific card and read the name.
"Dragonblade Magician Girl." He looked over the card and the design was pretty cool. The card was a girl with draconic armor that covered certain parts of her body from her head she wore a red hat that pointed upwards in a jag and around her neck was a scaley purple scarf. The upper armor was a red and purple chest piece that hugged the girl's body tightly. A skirt below that came with knee socks and the boots that she wore had red frills and a cool flame symbol. around the outline of the girl's body was a draconian magic circle. In her hand, she held a red and purple wand that looked like a dragon's mouth.
Then he check out the stats of the card and he was pretty impressed.
[Spellcaster/Effect]
Gains 300 ATK for every "Dragonblade Paladin" or "Dragoon of Red Devastation" in the GYs.
If this card is sent to the graveyard by battle or card effect draw one card and if it is a Dragonblade card add it to your hand, otherwise send it to the GY.
...
He then looked over to his other cards.
"Pot of Greed, Red Excalibur, Premature Burial, Dragonblade Resurrection, Monster Reborn, Ignias The Forbidden Guardian." He was about to finish before being interrupted.
"H-Hey, Yukaru w-what do you think of this o-outfit?" She called out to him as he looked over to see her in a blue-white outfit which consisted of a white shirt, a blue skirt, and a long dark blue coat that reaches her waist. Yukaru looked thoroughly and smiled.
"The outfit looks nice on you, the colors suit you well."
"T-Thank you, that makes me happy to hear. You are the first boy that has ever complimented me." She said as she smiled as felt herself gaining more confidence.
"You're welcome. Are you done yet or do you have more outfits to try out?" He asked
"I have three more outfits to try out and I wanted to see what your thoughts on them were."
"Well then, why wait let's see what the other three look like."
"Okay, I'll let you know when I'm ready." She went back into the changing room to try on the other outfits.
Yukaru waited again and within a few minutes Azura came out wearing a blue t-shirt and black shorts that reached her upper knees.
Then afterward she revealed herself wearing another new outfit which was a long white dress and a straw hat.
The last outfit was a blue and red kimono that hugged her body tightly. Her hair was left in a bun and the pendant was wrapped carefully around her neck.
"What do you think of this last one?"
"I think it looks nice on you. Just like the other ones." Azura smiled and went back into the changing to change into her school uniform. After she changed back, she grabbed the clothes and began to go to the register as the cashier looked over at her.
"Hello, how was your time here? We hope that everything in our store was to your liking." The young woman smiled as Azura then put the clothes on the desk and reached for her wallet. She pulled out some jewels and handed the cashier the money. The cashier took the money and put it into the register and began to fold the clothes and put it in a bag.
"Thank you very much for shopping here at Serena's Season Dresses and we hope to serve you again soon." The woman smiled as Azura grabbed the bag and left the store.
Once outside the store, she spotted Yukaru and then noticed Ace and Macy walking back with Ace holding his cheek in pain. Macy smiled as she held a bag with her purchases. Ezra then returned with a bag in hand with the items she bought.
"So how did it go Azura? Did you find some good outfits?"
"Yeah, I did and Yukaru helped me pick out some good outfits." Azura smiled as Macy looked over to Yukaru before slapping him on the shoulder impressed.
"You're a good guy you know that right? Most guys would have ditched a girl looking into getting new clothes so you have my respect for staying." Macy praised him as Yukaru then waved his hand denying the praise.
"It's not a problem. Besides I had nothing better to do than to look at the cards I was given. Azura needed help and I was more than happy to be of assistance."
"At least you are honest about it, unlike some other people," Macy spoke in an icy tone looking in ace's direction.
Ace knew better than to get on Macy's, bad side again. She already punished him once and he didn't need another beating again so he decided to keep his mouth shut.
"I'm quite impressed Yukaru, normally a man wouldn't bother staying when it comes to women and fashion. I wonder, were you educated in the past regarding how to treat women?"
"I can't get into specifics but I was taught to be respectful when it comes to matters regarding women."
"I see, don't be surprised if I ask you for help later regarding those same matters."
"I'll be sure to prepare when that happens."
"Well have we finished everything we needed to do here?"
"Yeah I got nothing better to do and I'm sure that Ace wants to check out some other stuff and since Yukaru is new to town, he needs to know about this place and everything single corner that way he doesn't get lost." Azura reasons as Ace then looks over to the pinkette and asked him.
"Hey Man, I wanted to know if you wanted to check out the arcade downstairs I heard that the games down there are awesome. They upgraded the technology so the game graphics should be up to date."
"Sure I would like to see what this place has to offer in terms of entertainment."
"Now you're speaking my language." Ace cheered excitedly as he then proceeded to guide Yukaru to the area downstairs. Azura and Macy had their fun already and since they still had a good amount of the day left they decided to have some fun as well checking out the arcade games.
.
.
.
Time passed as the gang proceeded to have fun at the different games and attractions. Yukaru had a smile on his face as he enjoyed all of the different games the place offered. He never knew that these games could be lots of fun. He grinned as he saw Ace win a game called wack a mole. Then after some time, They kept exploring more sections of the area since the arcade expanded and grew larger in the current year. The entire group then took a break as they were sitting at a food court in the corner of the arcade.
Yukaru was eating a burger and fries, Ace was spanking on a pizza slice and a soda. Macy had an ice cream Sunday while Ezra and Azura both ended up getting a sandwich with some juice.
"So Azura, how are you liking your birthday so far? Are you having fun?" Macy asked looking at the bluenette's expression.
"I'm having lots of fun today, it's the most fun I've had in years. So I want to say thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart." Azura smiled brightly as Yukaru gave a toothy grin. Ace, Macy, and Ezra were more than happy considering that it wasn't every day they would be celebrating a birthday.
"We're more than happy to spend time with you and believe us we had a blast too." Macy smiled at gave a happy grin.
"Yes it was plenty of fun and this was a good way of getting to know each of you individually," Ezra spoke in gratitude while Ace then finished.
"Honestly, this was way better than spending time at home getting nagged by my family. And I wouldn't mind doing this again sometime."
Everyone enjoyed their time as Ace and Yukaru were getting caught up in their conversation. The girls in the group just talked amount themselves and bonded even more than before. Ezra then walked away for a moment to the sweets tables before grabbing a strawberry cake and making her way back to the table where the group was seated.
After some time everyone then began to walk near the exit before something caught their ear.
"Woah! That's the fifth guy today!" a man's voice sounded throughout the arcade as Yukaru caught wind of the coming action.
"I wonder what's going on over there?" He spoke as everyone else looked over to a large area where all the commotion was coming from. Yukaru then began to walk over as a large crowd gathered. Everyone followed suit and began to walk into the crowd to see what was going on. It didn't take long as they made their way to the front to see 3 people standing apart from each other. One looked like a tall blonde man with short hair and a skintight shirt and black pants. He wore a long yellow coat that reached his ankles. But what Yukaru noticed was the strange object on the man's wrist, it look like a device with metal sticking out and glowing and what appeared like cards laying on the surface of the device. The man was also holding some cards in his hands.
The other two were men who looked about like they were in their late teens. Both of them were wearing what looked like a school uniform but it was completely different from what they wore at their school. They also had the strange device on their wrist.
And in the middle of the area where they were standing had what appeared to be monsters on opposite sides. One monster looked like a huge yellow Dragon with electricity coursing around it. It had golden eyes and a menacing-looking face. Its wings were huge and a single beat of its wings could cause whirlwinds.
And the monster on the opposite side looked a little like a knight with blue armor and a shiny sword.
"Sorry man it looks like you're alone now." The random guy looked over to his companion with a defeated expression. The other teen looked nervous as the blond man then called out an action.
"Go! Yellow Eyes Luminous Dragon finish this wannabe off with Searing Lighting Strike!" The man commanded as the dragon began charging an attack. The dragon then blasted the monster to smithereens as smoke enveloped the area. The smoke then cleared as the teen then fell to his knees looking dejected as the man looked at the younger men in mockery.
"It looks like I win, you two losers never stood a chance." The blond man sneered as he then walked over to the guy who he had just defeated and grabbed his deck full of cards and began to check them out.
"What is this? Are you seriously a duelist? With lame cards like these? You will never be a champ like me with pathetic cards like this." The man mocked as he then threw the cards in the air scattering them and laughing in the progress.
Yukaru didn't like how this guy was acting and the way he was treating the younger guys wasn't making it any better. Azura and the others couldn't help but look at the blonde man in contempt especially since they saw the attitude he was giving the two.
"You should quit now and never touch a deck again if you want to save yourselves the embarrassment." He continued to mock the two as Yukaru couldn't help but begin glaring at the man seeing as he had no respect.
The man continued to laugh until he noticed the pinkette glaring at him. The group could sense the tension getting deeper.
"What's with you pinky? Got something you want to say?" He mocked as Yukaru then walked over to the two teens. He then looked over to the blonde man.
"What gives you the right to make fun of these two? They fought you and lost but that doesn't give you the right to mock and humiliate them. The two couldn't believe that this guy was standing up for them. This guy just so happened to watch the match.
"I have every right to make fun of them. They challenged me and lost like the pathetic losers that they are. If you don't like it then face me and prove me wrong. And if you walk away then you will be proving that you are a spineless coward."
The crowd couldn't help but feed into the diss. They wanted to see another duel and to see what this kid could do. Plus it would make for good entertainment.
"Looks like the crowd wants to see you duel. You have a deck correct? Let's see what you got."
Yukaru grabbed his deck from his deck holder that was connected to his belt.
"At least you have a deck. But it doesn't look like you have a duel disk. So that means you must be a beginner. I'll have my fun making you squirm."
"But seeing that you're new I'll at least do you a favor." He then opened up a suitcase that the woman beside him was watching and grabbed the dual disk and tossed it to Yukaru. He caught the device and then put it around his wrist locking it in.
"That's a Duel Disk. One of Kaiba Corp's inventions that were made before the Battle City tournament in Domino City took place. They recently shipped them to our continent here in Ishgar so that means we can now have our fun and unfortunately for you, I'm the current champion of this continent.
"Champion or not, I will defeat you, and I'll make you regret your actions toward these two. Yukaru then grabbed his deck and put it in the disk as he then readied himself.
"Good looks like I'll be having fun breaking you." The blond man mocked as he then readied himself.
Azura couldn't help but be worried considering that he has never played Duel Monsters and she thought that fighting a champion would be too much for him. The others looked just as uneasy but they just had to hope that Yukaru would somehow win this match.
"I hope he knows what he's doing," Macy spoke worried about the current development before them.
"Let's just hope he doesn't get creamed," Gray spoke hoping that Yukaru doesn't have too much trouble.
"We will just have to wait and see what happens," Ezra spoke offering words of encouragement.
"Yeah no matter what happens, we'll be there for him and he won't be alone in this. We need to help in any way we can." Azura no longer feels tense. Her friend is up there trying to stand up for those two who were belittled and mocked and she was not gonna stand by and let some arrogant selfish jerk mock him.
"Yukaru, we believe in you! You got this! Show this jerk who the real champ is" Azura cheered showing her support. Even though people were staring at her she didn't care. Not at the moment. He was way more important to her and since all eyes were on him and the blonde guy they needed to show all the support they had.
Yukaru smiled as the duel disk then activated signaling the start of the duel. Before starting, Yukaru called out to him.
"What's your name? I need to know who you are before I defeat you."
"You won't defeat me and I'll make sure it doesn't happen but I'll give you my name. My name is Laxus Dreyar but most people know me by my alias, Lighting King Lex. And what's your name newbie?"
"My name is Natsu Dragneel but my friends call me Yukaru."
"I see then, well then Yukaru, get ready to lose!" Lex spoke as his duel disk activated.
"I'm all fired up!"
"The Duel Between Lighting King Lex and Challenger Yukaru will now begin!"
Author notes:
And there we have it, the first duel in this story is between Laxus and Natsu. Considering how condescending Laxus was in Fairy Tail when we first saw him I wanted to make him more hated since he has a way of naturally looking down on people who are weaker them himself. However, just like Seto Kaiba, Laxus will reap what he sows in the aftermath of the duel.
This duel will also open up each of the main cast to have their set of duels later on down the line and I have several arcs already planned. Right now though I'm already near done with the finishing touches of some Oc archetypes for the group considering I'm trying to base them on their respective elements.
For Natsu/Yukaru his archetype for a deck will be called Dragonblade. Since Natsu in the original anime is a fire dragonslayer I wanted to focus on a deck that resembles his magic and his element.
And just like how Yugi has Dark Magician, Yukaru has his ace monster Dragonblade Paladin who like Natsu is a dragonslayer.
For Laxus/Lex, since he is a lightning dragonslayer, I want his deck to focus on light-based monsters. The deck that I want to focus on is called Luminous Spark. Just like how Kaiba has Blue Eyes White Dragon, Laxus has his ace monster Yellow Eyes Luminous Dragon.
More will be revealed in the upcoming chapters ahead. But I made sure to make references to the original Yugioh series. So yes this story takes place sometime after Battle City where Yugi beats Marik and gets all three Egyptian God cards.
I will also be making my version of God cards but for now, that will be all for this chapter. Please let me know what you think and please drop a review I would appreciate it and if anyone has any ideas I would be more than happy to hear them.
Also for anyone who has celebrated the holidays Happy Late Thanksgiving
This is Draco signing off...
